Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesThe Russo Brothers are teasing us again, having shared another blurry and mystifying image on their social media Monday that - according to them - has to do with Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking of teases, sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel plans to show four different Doomsday teaser trailers that will play in front of Avatar: Fire & Ash. Last week we speculated about what Scarlett Johansson's role might be in The Batman II…and didn't have to wait long to find out! Prominent leaker The InSneider reported Johansson will be cast as Gilda Dent, wife of Harvey Dent or Two-Face. It is also reported the studio is looking around to cast Harvey and his father, Christopher Dent, though this is all unconfirmed by DC Studios at this time. Hunger Games fans, rejoice! Peeta and Katniss return, as Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to return to the Hunger Games prequel film, Sunrise on the Reaping. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesThe potential sale of Warner Bros Discovery has been a hot topic in recent weeks, but no one could have predicted the escalation and heightened stakes the bidding war has reached as Paramount CEO David Ellison announced a hostile takeover bid to the tune of $108.4 billion in response to what he described as Netflix's inferior $82.7 billion deal; a deal that seemed like an all but assured thing just days ago. It's been an uncharacteristically long time since James Gunn has given us a headline, but we may still be a day late and dollar short, as on Sunday the DC Studios head released a 10 second first look at Supergirl via social media, with the promise of the teaser trailer later in the week; which many have speculated to mean Thursday… Thanks, James! Also concerning DC: Four years after leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind, Scarlett Johansson seems headed for Gotham City, with the actress in final negotiations to join The Batman Part II. Details about Johansson's potential role are being closely guarded, though speculation has already run rampant about which iconic Batman character she might portray, though being a new love interest for Bruce Wayne in some capacity is a popular guess in the wake of unconfirmed reports that Zoe Kravitz might not reprise her role in the sequel.More than seven years after its original theatrical run, Marvel Studios is bringing Avengers: Endgame, the second-highest-grossing film of all time, back to theaters September 25, 2026 just months before Avengers: Doomsday later that December. While it's still unknown how long the Russos Brothers' last MCU contribution will be back to the big screen, the placement between the releases of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July and Doomsday in December, has fueled industry insider speculation suggesting the new Avengers film will act as a direct sequel to Endgame rather than closely following the events of Phases 4 through 6.HBO has revealed that the third season of Euphoria will begin streaming in April of 2026. This comes more than four years after Season 2 finished in February 2022.Hulu has renewed the Glen Powell led sports comedy series Chad Powers for a second season.20th Century Studios announced The Simpsons Movie 2 has been delayed from July 23, 2027 to September 3, 2027. Paramount and Blumhouse are reviving the Paranormal Activity franchise and bringing on James Wan to produce a new feature film in the franchise according to the Hollywood Reporter. Variety and CNN have revealed the star-studded lineup for the 23rd season of Actors on Actors. Some of the participants include Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Dwayne Johnson, Julia Roberts, and Ariana Grande. Sony Pictures has tapped Bad Boys For Life writer Chris Bremner to pen a new Men In Black film. Although plot details are not public, sources tell Deadline that when the script is complete, original series star Will Smith will be the first to read it in hopes that he will return to the franchise in some capacity. Prime Video has released the first trailer for the final season of The Boys. The show has an updated release date of April 8, 2026, which will see the release of two episodes. Episodes will then drop weekly, leading to the series finale on May 20th. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 opened to $109 million dollars worldwide over the weekend, a strong opening for the franchise. Additionally, last weekend's champion Zootopia 2 is nearing the one billion dollar mark with $915 million dollars worldwide so far. Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join the upcoming Tomb Raider series for Prime Video. Sophie Turner is set to star as Lara Croft, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge on as writer and executive producer.
Welcome to The Reel Schmooze with ToI film reviewer Jordan Hoffman and host Amanda Borschel-Dan, where we bring you all the entertainment news and film reviews a Jew can use. This week, the pair speaks about two films, "Eleanor the Great," directed by Scarlett Johansson, and the documentary, "Son of a Seeker," by first-time filmmaker Kai Balin. But first, we hear in this week's "Jangle" segment, Hoffman recounts the recent votes of the New York Film Critics Circle for their annual "best-ofs," which are also known as the “Elite Oscars.” Next, we turn to two news items surrounding "Eleanor the Great." The first is that first-time director Scarlett Johansson said in an interview that she was asked by a would-be financial backer to change her film’s plot away from the Holocaust. And then we also heard this week that one of the Holocaust survivors featured in the film, Sami Steigmann, was asked not to speak at a Brooklyn middle school about antisemitism due to his pro-Israel views. We then review the film "Eleanor the Great," directed by Johansson and written by Tory Kamen. It stars the great June Squibb, Erin Kellyman, Jessica Hecht, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Then we turn to the independent documentary "Son of a Seeker," which is being shown at some Jewish film festivals, and learn about the unusual story of a third-generation Holocaust survivor who learns, after attending Jewish day school and contemplating immigration to Israel, he may not be Jewish after all. Hear who gave both films a seal of approval on this week's The Reel Schmooze. The Reel Schmooze is produced by the PodWaves and can be found wherever you get your podcasts. Detroit, and Michigan, sports are going through a tough time right now, and unfortunately the Detroit Red Wings are at the center of that. Tune in as we begin by discussing the Red Wings' 6-3 loss to Nikita Kucherov and the Tampa Bay Lightning, including strong play from Michael Rasmussen & J.T. Compher, poor play and turnovers after a Gibson save from Simon Edvinsson & Moritz Seider, Johansson and Bernard-Docker getting beat on defense, and more in a frustrating game for Todd McLellan's squad (3:40). Next, Detroit's shootout loss to Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins, including Kastelic's mismatch fight where Moritz Seider got dropped, our thoughts on the response from Ben Chiarot but not too many other Red Wings, Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Patrick Kane, and others contributing offensively, & Detroit being too slow to pick things up in the loss (12:10). After that, Dylan Larkin and Todd McLellan's comments about effort, care, and overthinking the game, and how that's affecting players like Marco Kasper, Patrick Kane, Nate Danielson, Alex DeBrincat, and Emmitt Finnie (25:50). We then take a look at the NHL & Atlantic Division standings, Steve Yzerman's team's December outlook, and what can be done to maintain standing in the tight playoff race - can Cam Talbot and John Gibson start providing more support in net? (39:10) After that, an update on the Detroit Red Wings prospect pipeline, including notes on Sebastian Cossa (will Yzerman call him up at some point?), Trey Augustine, Max Plante, Carter Bear, Jesse Kiiskinen, & more Hockeytown hopefuls (53:45). Next, the brutal loss to Barry Trotz' Nashville Predators, including miscues from just about the entire team, Gustafsson and Hamonic on defense, how the team's play affects Finnie, Sandin-Pellikka, Danielson, Kasper ), & other young players, & more as Steve Yzerman's squad struggled on home ice, plus what's wrong with this team from its best players down to its depth in guys (like Copp, Compher, Johansson, etc.) (13:10). We then discuss whether Steve Yzerman should go all out for a guy like Quinn Hughes & how much that would fix (and the cost of acquisition), or what other depth moves would be needed to shore up the team (39:45). fWotD Episode 3117: Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Sunday, 16 November 2025, is Black Widow (Natasha Romanova).Black Widow is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by editor Stan Lee, scripter Don Rico, and artist Don Heck, the character debuted as an enemy of Iron Man in Tales of Suspense #52 (1964). She reformed into a hero in The Avengers #30 (1966) and her most well-known design was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #86 (1970). Black Widow has been the main character in several comic titles since 1970, receiving her own Black Widow series in 1999. She also frequently appears as a supporting character in The Avengers and Daredevil.Natalia Alianovna "Natasha Romanoff" Romanova (Russian: Наталья Альяновна "Наташа" Романова) is introduced as a spy for the Soviet Union until she defects to the United States. She subsequently joins the intelligence agency S. H. I. E. L. D., partners with Daredevil, and encounters a rival Black Widow in Yelena Belova. Though she has no distinct superpowers, she was augmented in the Red Room, a Soviet training facility, to increase her strength and reduce her aging. She has training in combat and espionage, and wields bracelets that fire electric shocks and project wires she uses to traverse skyscrapers.Black Widow stories often explore her struggle to define her own identity as a spy and the trauma she endured from her life of training in the Red Room. Early stories emphasized her Soviet origin, portraying her superiors as evil and contrasting her with more noble American superheroes. Black Widow's status as a leading female character and femme fatale has influenced her portrayal, which was often contradictory as comics grappled with the conflict between traditional gender roles and second-wave feminism. The character is heavily sexualized both by artists and by the characters with whom she interacts.Black Widow has been adapted into a variety of other media, including film, animated series, and video games. A version of the character was portrayed by Scarlett Johansson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from her first appearance in Iron Man 2 (2010) to her final one in Black Widow (2021). Johansson's portrayal brought increased attention to the character and influenced Black Widow's depiction in comics. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:31 UTC on Sunday, 16 November 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Bluesky at @wikioftheday.com.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Salli.

Producent: Hannah Engberg, Tredje Statsmakten MediaSlutmix: Fredrik Nilsson, Tredje Statsmakten MediaReporter: Martin Eriksson, P4 DalarnaExekutiv producent: Jenny Gustafsson, Sveriges Radio

Madeleine moved from Sweden to Ireland in the 2000s where she became active with the Socialist Workers' Party (SWP) and People Before Profit (PBP). She was a party organiser and director of elections for the 2016 General Election campaign in Dublin Mid-West, subsequently co-opted on to South Dublin County Council in 2016, and returned in the 2019 and 2024 local elections. Madeleine was a founding member of Red Network, which was formed in 2021 within People Before Profit before becoming an independent party in 2025. She is the author of Class War – Not Culture War (2025) and Reform or Revolution – Sweden, Socialism and The Welfare State (2022), available from the Red Network website. We discuss Madeleine's early political experience and the contrast between Sweden and Ireland; her work as an activist and organiser with SWP during the austerity years and campaigns against household charges, property tax and water charges; her experience as a local councillor and the particular challenge of the housing crisis; the formation of Red Network and the political differences that led them to leave People Before Profit; and her position on the politics of class, identity politics, reform and revolution. Blaise Agüera y Arcas explores some mind-bending ideas about what intelligence and life really are—and why they might be more similar than we think (filmed at ALIFE conference, 2025 - https://2025.alife.org/).Life and intelligence are both fundamentally computational (he says). Chris Paul and Burning Bright dive into Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation, unpacking its themes of alienation, paradigm shifts, and fleeting human connection. They explore Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson's unlikely bond in Tokyo, debating whether the film's ambiguity makes it profound or pretentious. The hosts tackle Coppola's directing choices, the infamous opening shot, and the controversy of Johansson's age during filming, weighing how Hollywood's “male gaze” and art-house ambitions collide. From existential dread to pseudo-intellectual musings, they contrast Murray's weathered perspective with Johansson's youthful searching, examining how both characters project fantasies of freedom while feeling trapped in different ways. Along the way, they connect the film's commentary on identity and artifice to the decline of the modern movie star, social media overexposure, and Hollywood's struggle to create new icons. The episode closes with reflections on ambiguous endings, fantasy vs. reality, and next week's pick, M. Night Shyamalan's Split. It's a thoughtful, critical, and often humorous exploration of a movie that lingers long after the credits roll.
