Imagine if you will, dear listener, Theodore Robert Bundy sitting across from Robert Keppel in an interview room at Florida State Prison. The room is grey, the furniture non-descript. Keppel has just laid a photo on the table in front of Bundy. The photograph is turned upside down. Bundy eagerly reaches for it. Keppel has planned this for a good while. The deal with Bundy was that they were not to discuss the crimes for which Bundy was charged, only the Green River case.Become a Patron today: https://www.patreon.com/theserialkillerpodcastWebsite: https://www.theserialkillerpodcast.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/theskpodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/serialkillerpodTwitter: https://twitter.com/serialkillerpodSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/the-serial-killer-podcast. Of all the known serial killers in history, Ted Bundy has always held a special place in our collective psyche. Most people probably picture serial killers as monsters lurking in shadows. The reality is much more frightening. Theodore Robert Bundy not only tricked his victims, he ultimately tricked us all. He charmed us into being interested in him, despite his brutality, his necrophilia. The reality is that serial killers are the least suspicious among us. A quote often attributed to Ted, but is more of an amalgamation of different statements by him: "We are your sons. We are your husbands. We are everywhere. After more than a decade of denials, he confessed to 30 homicides, committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978. His true victim total is unknown, and believed by some investigators to be higher.Bundy was regarded as handsome and charismatic, traits that he exploited to win the trust of victims and society. He would typically approach his victims in public places, feigning injury or disability, or impersonating an authority figure, before knocking them unconscious and taking them to secluded locations to rape and strangle them. He sometimes revisited his victims, grooming and performing sexual acts with the decomposing corpses until putrefaction and destruction by wild animals made any further interactions impossible. He decapitated at least 12 victims and kept some of the severed heads as mementos in his apartment. On a few occasions, he broke into dwellings at night and bludgeoned his victims as they slept. In 1975, Bundy was arrested and jailed in Utah for aggravated kidnapping and attempted criminal assault. He then became a suspect in a progressively longer list of unsolved homicides in several states. Facing murder charges in Colorado, he engineered two dramatic escapes and committed further assaults in Florida, including three murders, before his ultimate recapture in 1978. For the Florida homicides, he received three death sentences in two trials. Bundy was executed in the electric chair at Florida State Prison in Raiford, Florida, on January 24, 1989.Biographer Ann Rule described Bundy as "a sadistic sociopath who took pleasure from another human's pain and the control he had over his victims, to the point of death, and even after." He once described himself as "the most cold-hearted son of a bitch you'll ever meet". Attorney Polly Nelson, a member of his last defense team, called him "the very definition of heartless evil".Source Material:1) Wikipedia2) Murderpedia3) youtube docs
Serial killer, Theodore Robert Bundy, was executed in the Florida electric chair on January 24th, 1989. Over 30 years later, his infamy has not faded.
Theodore Robert Bundy was one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history. He confessed to kidnapping, raping and murdering over 24 women, one as young as 12, although the actual count remains a mystery. He carried out his reign of terror throughout seven states during the 1970s, Some of his victims escaped the final act and lived to share the story of their ordeals. One such victim was Rhonda Stapley, author of the book I Survived Ted Bundy: The Attack, Escape and PTSD that changed my life. Ms. Stapley never reported her vicious rape at the hands of Ted Bundy. She didn’t disclose to her own family until almost 35 years after the attack. Her book was published in 2016 and she sat down with me to share her story of survival. Cover art by Leslie Rule
This episode is the result of extensive research looking at the life and mind of Theodore Robert Bundy to try and understand what drives an outwardly normal man to commit some of the most heinous acts ever recorded on innocent young girls who had their whole lives ahead of them. Some of the names have been changed to protect those who do not wish to be associated with what Bundy did, some of the grotesque acts he performed on his victims have also been toned down….. but the accounts are true and the events surrounding the murders are as accurate as possible….. because ultimately there is only one person who knows what really happened and thankfully he is no longer with us.Episode narrated by Top5sMusic by CO.AG________Our episodes deal with serious and often distressing cases involving serial killers. He would typically approach them in public places, feigning injury or disability, or impersonating an authority figure, before overpowering and assaulting them in secluded locations. He then became a suspect in a progressively longer list of unsolved homicides in several states. He once called himself "the most cold-hearted son of a bitch you'll ever meet." Attorney Polly Nelson, a member of his last defense team, wrote he was "the very definition of heartless evil

Theodore Robert Bundy confessed to the brutal slayings of 36 female coeds. Experts believe his tally could climb into the 100s. Ted stands high above the rest of his kind as the most infamous and the most brutal. To this day, his charm and methods have been unmatched. Heard of a little film called "Silence of the Lambs"? Buffalo Bill's penchant for preying on the kindness of his female victims and utilizing a fake arm cast to up the pathetic quotient was ripped directly from Mr. Bundy's modus operandi. Part 1 of this bananas tale will set it up for a truly terrifying crescendo.
