Conrad Henri Roy III, was an American teenager who died by suicide at the age of 18. His girlfriend, 17-year-old Michelle Carter, encouraged him in text messages to kill himself. The case was the subject of a notable investigation and involuntary manslaughter trial in Massachusetts, colloquially known as the "texting suicide case." Commonwealth v. Michelle Carter involved scores of text messages, emails, and phone calls recorded between Carter and Roy in the leadup to his death, in which Carter repeatedly texted Roy to kill himself. Roy had seen numerous mental health professionals and had been prescribed psychiatric medication. The case raised questions pertaining to the nature and limits of criminal responsibility. Lawrence Moniz, the judge assigned to Carter's criminal trial, concluded that Carter wanted Roy dead and that her words coerced him to kill himself. Carter was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, chiefly on the basis of her final phone call in which she ordered a scared Roy to go back inside his truck as it filled with carbon monoxide.Roy was born on September 12, 1995, in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. He worked with his father, grandfather, and uncle for several years in his family's marine salvage business, Tucker-Roy Marine Towing and Salvage, Inc., in the New England area. In the Spring of 2014, he earned his captain's license from the Northeast Maritime Institute by completing three months of night classes.[5] In June 2014 he graduated on the Honor Roll (highest grades) from Old Rochester Regional High School (ORR) in Mattapoisett. He was a high school athlete who played baseball, rowed crew, and ran track. He graduated with a 3.88 GPA and was accepted to Fitchburg State University to study business, which he never attended.Carter and Conrad Roy met in Florida in 2012 while each had been visiting relatives. After this initial encounter, they saw each other in person again only a handful of times over the course of two years, despite having lived only about 35 miles (56 km) away from each other. Instead, they mostly exchanged text messages and emails.According to court documents, Roy had allegedly been physically hit by his father and verbally abused by his grandfather. He attempted suicide in October 2012, after the divorce of his parents. After learning that he was planning to kill himself, Carter repeatedly discouraged him in 2012 and 2014, and encouraged him to "get professional help". However, her attitude changed in July 2014, when she started thinking that it would be a "good thing to help him die". In June, Roy texted Carter suggesting they act like Romeo and Juliet, later checking to make sure she understood that meant they had to each killed themselves. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Grady Franklin Stiles Jr. (6/26/1937 – 11/29/1992) was an American freak show performer and murderer. His deformity was the genetic condition ectrodactyly, in which the fingers and toes are fused together to form claw-like extremities. Because of this, Stiles performed under the stage name "Lobster Boy".According to Grady's father, the Stiles family had a long history of ectrodactyly, dating back to 1840. Grady Stiles Jr. was the fourth child of Grady F. Stiles Sr. and his wife Edna. Capitalizing on his deformity, Grady Stiles Sr. was a sideshow attraction in a traveling carnival. After Grady Jr. was born he was folded into his father's sideshow act at the age of seven.[1] Stiles married twice and had four children, two of whom also had ectrodactyly. Stiles and his two children toured together as The Lobster Family. When not traveling with the carnival, the Stiles family lived in Gibsonton, Florida, where many other carnival performers lived during the winter season.Stiles was an alcoholic and was abusive to his family. Due to his ectrodactyly, he was unable to walk. While he sometimes used a wheelchair, he most commonly used his hands and arms for locomotion. He developed substantial upper body strength that, when combined with his bad temper and alcoholism, made him dangerous to others. In 1978 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Stiles shot and killed his oldest daughter's fiancé on the eve of their wedding. He was brought to trial, where he openly confessed to killing the man and was convicted of third-degree murder. He was not sent to prison as no state institution was equipped to care for an inmate with ectrodactyly. Stiles was instead sentenced to house arrest and fifteen years probation.Stiles stopped drinking thereafter, and during this period remarried his first wife, Mary Teresa. However, he soon began drinking again and his family claimed that he became even more abusive. In 1992, Teresa, together with her son from a previous marriage, Harry Glenn Newman Jr., hired a seventeen-year-old sideshow performer named Chris Wyant to kill Stiles for $1500 dollars . Wyant was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 27 years in prison. Harry Newman was given life in prison for his role as the mastermind and Teresa was given 43 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder.Stiles' son, Grady Stiles III, disputes the claim that Teresa had him murdered. According to him, his mother, Teresa, and father were arguing. Teresa had said 'Something needs to be done.' Teresa's son overheard this, and went to a neighbor and repeated those words. Shortly after this happened, as Stiles smoked a cigarette while watching television on the sofa, the neighbor entered his home with a semi-automatic pistol and shot him in the head twice, killing him. Stiles was hated so much by the local community that only 10 people came to his funeral, and nobody volunteered as a pallbearer to carry his coffin. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. A Murder, or Hunting Accident?Deep in the Colorado wilderness, on the second day of hunting season in 1995, veteran police officer Doug Kyle came across what appeared to be a terrible tragedy. It would actually turn out to be much more complicated — and bone-chilling.Lying on the ground bleeding was Bruce Dodson, 48, with an orange hunting vest at his side. His wife of three months, Janice, was screaming for help. "I picked up the orange vest and was just screaming at him: 'Why didn't you have your vest on?' " Janice said."She's crying and carrying on," said Kyle. "I said, 'Is this your husband?' And she said, 'Yes, that's Bruce. Help — you've got to help him.' "Bruce was beyond help. He seemed destined to be yet another victim of a hunting accident, mistaken for game — a mistake that would repeat itself more than 100 times that year. But the day after, an autopsy revealed Bruce hadn't taken just a single bullet, but three. Bill Booth, an investigator for the district attorney's office, said he started to believe this was homicide. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. David Russell Williams (born March 7, 1963) is a former colonel of the Canadian Armed Forces and convicted double-murderer who was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for 25 years in 2010.In late January 2010, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) discovered evidence that led them to suspect Williams' involvement in the disappearance and death of Jessica Lloyd, and suspected links to two other crimes that had been committed in close proximity to other locations near Williams' previous home in Tweed, Ontario. On February 7, Williams was interrogated on video by OPP investigator Jim Smyth and confronted with the evidence of tire tracks and boot prints at Lloyd's home. Over the next 10 hours, Williams gave a detailed confession of the sexual assault and murder of Lloyd, and also the sexual assault and murder of Corporal Marie-France Comeau and at least two other cases initially. The subsequent investigation into Williams brought further confessions and revealed evidence of detailed notes and photographs stored at his home. The evidence showed he had broken into at least 82 houses to steal underwear of females, including children. This behavior later escalated to sexual assaults and later still to the rapes and murders. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of forcible confinement, two counts of breaking and entering, and sexual assault. Another 82 charges relating to breaking and entering were later added. On October 21, 2010, Williams was sentenced to two life sentences for first-degree murder, two 10-year sentences for other sexual assaults, two 10-year sentences for forcible confinement, and 82 one-year sentences for breaking and entering, all to be served concurrently. The life sentences mean Williams will serve a minimum of 25 years before parole eligibility. Because he was convicted of multiple murders, Williams is not eligible for early parole under the "faint hope clause" of the Criminal Code. From July 2009 until his arrest in February 2010, Williams commanded CFB Trenton, Canada's largest military airbase and a hub for the country's foreign and domestic air transport operations. He was also a decorated military pilot who had flown Canadian Forces VIP aircraft for dignitaries and heads of state. Following charges being made on February 8, 2010, Williams was relieved as the base commander at CFB Trenton. Following his conviction, on October 22, 2010, Williams was stripped of his commission, ranks, and awards by the Governor General on the recommendation of the Chief of the Defense Staff. His uniform, documents and military equipment were destroyed by the Canadian military. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaOn October 26, 2001, 25-year-old nursing assistant Chante Jawan Mallard struck 37-year-old Gregory Glenn Biggs, a homeless man, with her automobile, in Fort Worth, Texas, U.S. The force of the crash lodged Biggs into the windshield. Mallard then drove home and left the man lodged in the windshield of her car, parked in her garage. He died a day or two later. Mallard was convicted and sentenced to 50 years' imprisonment for her role in his death.Gregory Glenn Biggs, born August 16, 1964, was homeless and mentally ill. He was married, with one son, and worked in construction as a mason.Chante Jawan Mallard (born June 22, 1976) is a woman from Fort Worth, Texas. On October 26, 2001, Mallard's Chevrolet Cavalier struck the homeless pedestrian Gregory Glenn Biggs; at the time Mallard was believed to have been driving while intoxicated by a combination of marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol. The force of the impact sent Biggs flying through the windshield, lodging him there.Mallard then drove home, leaving the injured Biggs stuck in her windshield, and parked her car in her garage. After the accident, Mallard did not notify the police nor did she get Biggs any medical attention, even though she was a nursing assistant at the time. Occasionally, she would return to the garage to check on his status. When Biggs died a day or two later, still in the windshield of her car in her garage, she called a male friend, Clete Jackson, for assistance. Mallard, Jackson, and Jackson's cousin Herbert Tyrone Cleveland took the body to a park and left it there, even going so far as to set fire to part of the car in an attempt to disguise the evidence. The three were each convicted on charges of tampering with evidence for this action.Mallard became a suspect after she was reported talking and laughing about the incident at a party some four months after the events. "I hit this white man", Mallard allegedly told acquaintance Maranda Daniel, while laughingMallard's trial commenced on June 23, 2003. During the trial, Tarrant County medical examiner Nizam Peerwani testified that, had Mallard taken Biggs to a hospital, he would have recovered from his injuries. Other experts testified that they agreed that Biggs would have survived. "There's not a member of the Fort Worth Fire Department that could not have saved Mr. Biggs's life", testified Capt. Jim Sowder. Mallard was convicted of murder in June 2003, with the 50-year murder sentence and 10-year tampering sentence to run concurrently. She will be eligible for parole in 2027.Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Jordan Linn Graham, 22, admitted she got cold feet before committing murder eight days after her marriage last summer. Her husband, Cody Johnson, 25, fell to his death off a cliff July 7 in Glacier National Park.By Sasha Goldstein - New York Daily NewsThursday, March 27, 2014A nefarious 22-year-old newlywed who shoved her husband of eight days off a majestic Montana cliff was sentenced to 30 years in prison Thursday for her grisly crime.Jordan Linn Graham faced up to life in prison for second-degree murder after she admitted to pushing Cody Johnson, 25, off the side of a popular hiking trail July 7 in Glacier National Park.He fell 200 feet to his death. Johnson's body was found July 11 after Graham - who claimed she didn't know where he'd gone - said the area was on her husband's bucket list.U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy insisted the Kalispell woman - who repeatedly lied and changed her story about what had happened - never apologized for the murder and showed zero remorse, the Missoulian reported.“She was a normal person, at least on the surface,” the federal judge said in handing down the sentence, which includes no possibility of parole. “But how does a normal person kill her husband of eight days?”Days into her criminal trial in December, Graham and prosecutors reached a deal where the young woman would plead guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for a three decade sentence. But on Tuesday, Graham got cold feet and requested a new trial, claiming the agreement was “illusory” and a “hollow formality” after she read a memo that prosecutors called the killing premeditated and asked for a sentence of 50 years to life in prison.Molloy denied her request for a new trial and stuck to the terms of the plea, giving her the agreed-upon 30 years behind bars.An emotional Graham told the court she has “no answers” for “why I didn't make different decisions.”“It was a moment of complete shock and panic,” the tearful 22-year-old said, according to the Missoulian. “I have no other explanation.”Graham originally told investigators her new husband left unexpectedly with friends from out of state, and she even sent an email from a mythical “Tony” saying Johnson was never coming back. But investigators quickly saw through her tale and learned she'd actually had cold feet shortly after tying the knot.Graham eventually relented, telling the authorities she and Johnson had had a fight while walking The Loop trail and that she'd shoved him, harder than she had planned, to his death. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaGraham Frederick Young (7 September 1947 – 1 August 1990), best known as the Teacup Poisoner and later the St Albans Poisoner, was an English serial killer who used poison to kill his victims.Obsessed with poisons from an early age, Young began poisoning relatives and school friends by lacing their food and drink with thallium and antimony. He was caught when his schoolteacher became concerned by his interest in poisons and contacted the police. In 1962, at the age of 14, Young was charged with administering poison to his father, sister and schoolfriend and detained at Broadmoor Hospital. Young would later claim responsibility for the death of his stepmother, although he was never charged with this crime. The presiding judge stipulated that Young should not be released without the Home Secretary's authorization for 15 years. In 1971, Young was deemed rehabilitated and released from Broadmoor. He found a job as a storekeeper at a factory in Bovingdon, Hertfordshire, where his duties including making tea for his colleagues. Soon afterwards, Young began poisoning his workmates, resulting in two fatalities and several others left critically ill. The deaths were initially attributed to a mysterious bug, but Young's odd behaviour and his penchant for showing off his considerable knowledge of poisons aroused suspicions and he was arrested. Large quantities of poison were found in his bedsit along with a diary detailing his poisonings. In 1972, he was convicted on two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. He served most of his sentence at HM Prison Parkhurst, where he died of a heart attack in 1990.The Young case made headlines in Britain and led to a public debate over the release of mentally ill offenders. Within hours of his conviction, the British Government announced two inquiries into the issues it raised. The Butler Committee led to widespread reforms in mental health services. The outcry over the ease with which Young was able to obtain deadly poisons led to the passage of the 1972 Poisons Act. Young's life story inspired the 1995 film The Young Poisoner's Handbook. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaMurders of Claudia Maupin and Oliver NorthupOn the night of April 13, 2013, after years of homicidal urges, Marsh “had enough” and decided to make his fantasies come true. In the early morning hours of April 14, he left his mother's home and wandered the streets of Davis in search of a home with open windows or doors, before coming upon Maupin and Northup's residence. Marsh cut open the window screen, invaded the home, and made his way to the couple's bedroom where he found Maupin and Northup asleep. Marsh then stabbed both victims to death. The attack was severe, leaving Northup with 61 stab wounds and Maupin with 67 stab wounds. After murdering Northup and Maupin, Marsh dissected, eviscerated, and mutilated their bodies. The couple's bodies were discovered the next day. It wouldn't be until June that Marsh was arrested--due to Marsh's extensive planning of the murders, he left no DNA, fingerprints, footprints, or any other evidence at the crime scene. He became a suspect after bragging to his friends about the murders. Marsh was then interrogated and confessed to the crimes. He told investigators that the murders gave him a feeling of “pure happiness” which lingered for weeks. Marsh was convicted of the murders in September 2014. He was also declared sane.In 2013, the California State Legislature had passed Senate Bill 260, which allows juvenile offenders such as Marsh to seek parole after 20 or 25 years. Because of this law, Marsh is eligible for parole after serving 25 years of his life sentence. In 2016, California voters passed Proposition 57, which requires that juvenile court judges decide whether juvenile offenders are tried in juvenile court or in adult court. In 2018, Marsh's conviction was conditionally reversed pursuant to Proposition 57. A transfer hearing was held to determine if he should serve his sentence in the juvenile justice system or the adult criminal justice system. Though the juvenile court judge ruled to keep Marsh in the adult criminal justice system, a new law may result in Marsh being sent to the juvenile system. Senate Bill 1391 was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. It prevents juveniles under age 16 from being prosecuted in adult court. Opponents of SB 1391 argued that it conflicted with Proposition 57. In O.G. v. The Superior Court of Ventura County, the California Supreme Court determined that SB 1391 did not conflict with Proposition 57. Marsh contends that SB 1391 should apply retroactively to him, while prosecutors disagree. Oral arguments before the Third District Court of Appeal were held on August 18, 2021. If sent to the juvenile justice system, Marsh would have been released from incarceration upon turning 25. In September, the Third District Court dismissed the appeal. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaEdward Theodore Gein (August 27, 1906 – July 26, 1984), also known as the Butcher of Plainfield or the Plainfield Ghoul, was an American killer and body snatcher. Gein's crimes, committed around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin, gathered widespread notoriety in 1957 after authorities discovered he had exhumed corpses from local graveyards and fashioned trophies and keepsakes from their bones and skin. Gein also confessed to killing two women: tavern owner Mary Hogan in 1954 and hardware store owner Bernice Worden in 1957.Gein was initially found unfit to stand trial and confined to a mental health facility. By 1968, he was judged competent to stand trial; he was found guilty of the murder of Worden, but he was found legally insane and was remanded to a psychiatric institution. He died at Mendota Mental Health Institute of respiratory failure, on July 26, 1984, aged 77. He is buried next to his family in the Plainfield Cemetery, in a now-unmarked grave. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaThe killing of Tim McLean occurred on the evening of July 30, 2008. McLean, a 22-year-old Canadian man, was stabbed, beheaded, and cannibalized while riding a Greyhound Canada bus along the Trans-Canada Highway, about 30 km (19 mi) west of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. On March 5, 2009, his killer, a 40-year-old Chinese-Canadian named Vince Li, was found not criminally responsible for murder and remanded to a high-security mental health facility in Selkirk, Manitoba, where he was detained until his release on May 8, 2015.On July 30, 2008, Tim McLean, a carnival barker, was returning home to Winnipeg after working at a fair in Edmonton. He departed Edmonton on board Greyhound bus 1170 to Winnipeg, via the Yellowhead Highway through Saskatchewan. He sat at the rear, one row ahead of the toilet. At 6:55 p.m., the bus departed from a stop in Erickson, Manitoba, with a new passenger, Vince Weiguang Li. Li, described as a tall man in his 40s, with a shaved head and sunglasses, originally sat near the front of the bus, but moved to sit next to McLean following a scheduled rest stop. McLean "barely acknowledged" Li, then fell asleep against the window pane, headphones covering his ears.According to witnesses, McLean was sleeping with his headphones on when the man sitting next to him suddenly produced a large knife and began stabbing him in the neck and chest. After the attack began, the bus driver pulled to the side of the road, and he and all the other passengers fled the vehicle. The driver and two other men made an attempt to rescue McLean, but were chased away by Li, who slashed at them from behind the locked bus doors. Li ultimately decapitated McLean and displayed his severed head to those standing outside the bus, then returned to McLean's body and began severing other parts and consuming some of McLean's flesh. At 8:30 p.m., the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Portage la Prairie received a report of a stabbing on a Greyhound bus west of the city. They arrived to find the suspect still on board the bus, being prevented from escaping by another passenger, the bus driver, and a truck driver who had provided a crowbar and a hammer as weapons. The other passengers were huddled at the roadside, some of them crying and vomiting. As the suspect had earlier attempted to escape by driving the bus away, the driver had engaged the emergency immobiliser system, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Witnesses had observed the suspect stabbing and cutting McLean's body with a knife, and carrying McLean's severed head.By 9:00 p.m., police were in a standoff with the suspect and had summoned special negotiators and a heavily armed tactical unit. The suspect alternately paced the length of the bus and defiled the corpse. Police officers then observed Li eating parts of the body. Meanwhile, the stranded passengers were transported from the scene to be interviewed at the Brandon RCMP detachment. RCMP officers reportedly heard Li say, "I have to stay on the bus forever."On July 31, 2008, at 1:30 a.m., the suspect attempted to escape from the bus by breaking through a window. The RCMP arrested Li soon afterward. He was shot with a Taser twice, handcuffed and placed in the back of a police cruiser. Parts of the victim's body, placed in plastic bags, were retrieved from the bus, while his ear, nose and tongue were found in Li's pockets. The victim's eyes and a part of his heart were never recovered and are presumed to have been eaten by Li.Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. If you have a show suggestion? please email us at: homicideworldwidepodcast@gmail.comAnd you can always find us on twitter: https://twitter.com/HWWP10Support the show
The Lululemon murder occurred on March 11, 2011, at a Lululemon Athletica store located in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Bethesda, Maryland, when Brittany Norwood, a store worker, murdered Jayna Troxel Murray, a fellow employee at the store. The case received widespread media coverage and was commonly referred to as the "Lululemon murder". In January 2012, Norwood was sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole. The MurderNorwood lured Murray back to the store after closing by claiming to have left her metro card behind, then, after a brief argument, attacked her, inflicting 331 injuries, including head trauma and stab wounds. Murray died in the store's back hallway, after which Norwood staged a crime scene and claimed that intruders had raped both women and killed Murray. The prosecution was barred from introducing evidence that Murray had accused Norwood of shoplifting.[2][5] The defense argued for a conviction of second-degree murder, claiming the attack was not pre-meditated. The case received intense media coverage and was commonly referred to as the "Lululemon murder".In January 2012, Norwood was sentenced to life imprisonment with no possibility of parole. She is imprisoned in the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women. In a published opinion on April 29, 2015, the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland denied Norwood's request for a new trial, effectively ending Norwood's direct appeal options. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Born in Amarillo, Texas, Albright was adopted from an orphanage by Delle and Fred Albright. His adoptive mother, who was a schoolteacher, was very strict and overprotective of him. She accelerated his education and helped him skip two grades. When he got his first gun as a teenager, he killed small animals with it. His mother would help him stuff them, due to his interest in becoming a taxidermist. At age 13, he was already a petty thief and was arrested for aggravated assault. At age 15, he graduated from high school and enrolled at North Texas University. He expressed an interest in training as a medical doctor and a surgeon. He undertook pre-med training but failed to complete it. At age 16, the police caught him with some stolen petty cash, along with two handguns and a rifle. He spent a year in jail. After his release from jail, he attended Arkansas State Teachers College and majored in pre-med studies. After being found with stolen items, he was expelled from the college but was not prosecuted.Apparently unfazed, he falsified a degree. He stole documents and forged signatures, giving himself fictitious bachelor's and master's degrees. He married his college girlfriend, and they had a daughter. He continued to forge checks. He was caught in this deception while he was teaching at a high school and was placed on probation. In 1965, he and his wife separated, divorcing in 1974.He was then caught stealing hundreds of dollars' worth of merchandise from a hardware store and received a two-year prison sentence. He served less than six months before being released.During this time he began to befriend and gain the trust of his neighbors. He was even asked by local residents to babysit their children. In 1981, while visiting some friends, he sexually molested their 14-year-old daughter. He was prosecuted, pled guilty, and received probation. He later claimed that he was innocent but had pled guilty to avoid "a hassle."In 1984, he applied to be a leader in the Boy Scouts of America and was rejected. In 1985 in Arkansas, Albright met a woman named Dixie. Daniel Brophy was found dead from a gunshot at the Oregon Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon on June 2, 2018. On May 25, 2022, his wife, Nancy Crampton-Brophy, was found guilty of second-degree murder for his death. On the morning of June 2, 2018, Daniel Brophy left for work at the Oregon Culinary Institute, where he was a teacher. Students arrived later and found his body in a kitchen, dead from two gunshots. The death was investigated as a homicide.Investigation and trial of Nancy Crampton-BrophySuspicion later fell on his wife Nancy Crampton-Brophy. Ms. Crampton-Brophy had told investigators during the initial investigation that she had walked the dogs and had a shower on the morning of the incident. In 2020, investigators found traffic camera footage that showed her driving to and then departing from the culinary school during a 13-minute window when the homicide happened. Crampton-Brophy amended her story and said she had no memory of such a drive, and that she was likely on a coffee run that she forgot about due to the stress of the day's events. She was indicted and was put on trial for her husband's murder in April 2022. Nancy Crampton-Brophy was the author of several self-published novels including The Wrong Husband and an online essay titled "How to Murder Your Husband", which increased public and media interest. At trial, the prosecution assembled a case built on circumstantial evidence that they said indicated Crampton-Brophy was the murderer. They argued that her false account of her whereabouts on the morning of the murder indicated her account was untrustworthy. For motive, prosecutors alleged that Crampton-Brophy was in financial distress and killed her husband for several life insurance policies totaling around $1.2 million as well as sole ownership of the $300,000 house. Forensic evidence indicated that Daniel Brophy had been shot by two bullets from a Glock pistol. The prosecution entered evidence that Ms. Crampton-Brophy had purchased a "ghost gun" kit of parts from the Internet. She conceded that she had bought a slide and a barrel for a Glock pistol via eBay. She contended that the purchase had been made with her husband's support, that she had given the gun to her husband to protect himself while looking for mushrooms, and that the gun components were for research on a new novel involving a woman who carefully acquired gun parts.Nancy Crampton-Brophy was convicted of second degree murder on May 25, 2022.Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Jack the Ripper was an unidentified serial killer active in the impoverished districts in and around Whitechapel in the East End of London in 1888. In both criminal case files and the contemporary journalistic accounts, the killer was called the Whitechapel Murderer and Leather Apron.Attacks ascribed to Jack the Ripper typically involved female prostitutes who lived and worked in the slums of the East End of London. Their throats were cut prior to abdominal mutilations. The removal of internal organs from at least three of the victims led to proposals that their killer had some anatomical or surgical knowledge. Rumours that the murders were connected intensified in September and October 1888, and numerous letters were received by media outlets and Scotland Yard from individuals purporting to be the murderer. The name "Jack the Ripper" originated in a letter written by an individual claiming to be the murderer that was disseminated in the media. The letter is widely believed to have been a hoax and may have been written by journalists in an attempt to heighten interest in the story and increase their newspapers' circulation. The "From Hell" letter received by George Lusk of the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee came with half of a preserved human kidney, purportedly taken from one of the victims. The public came increasingly to believe in a single serial killer known as "Jack the Ripper", mainly because of both the extraordinarily brutal nature of the murders and media coverage of the crimes.Extensive newspaper coverage bestowed widespread and enduring international notoriety on the Ripper, and the legend solidified. A police investigation into a series of eleven brutal murders committed in Whitechapel and Spitalfields between 1888 and 1891 was unable to connect all the killings conclusively to the murders of 1888. Five victims—Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly—are known as the "canonical five" and their murders between 31 August and 9 November 1888 are often considered the most likely to be linked. The murders were never solved, and the legends surrounding these crimes became a combination of historical research, folklore, and pseudohistory, capturing public imagination to the present day. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Stephanie Ilene Lazarus is a former Los Angeles police detective who was convicted in March 2012 of the 1986 first-degree murder of her ex-boyfriend's new wife, Sherri Rasmussen. Lazarus is serving a 27-year to life sentence for the offense at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla, California. Her case made national headlines. On February 24, 1986, Sherri Rasmussen, a critical care nurse was living in a condominium with her new husband, and Stephanie Lazarus' ex-boyfriend, John Ruetten. That night, Ruetten found his new wife beaten to death, and shot numerous times with a .38 caliber revolver. The crime was initially deemed to be a robbery gone awry, as Rasmussen's BMW was stolen. The initial suspects were two Latino men who were believed to have committed other burglaries in Rasmussen's neighborhood. Lazarus was also a suspect in the initial investigation, but was later cleared. Rasmussen's family still believed Lazarus was involved, as they had both dated Ruetten and Lazarus had once showed up at the Glendale Adventist Medical Center where Rasmussen worked and threatened her, supposedly stating: "If I can't have John, then nobody else will." In the meantime, Lazarus continued working with the Los Angeles Police Department; she went on to start her own private investigation firm, Unique Investigations.Twenty-three years after the murder of Sherri Rasmussen, the case was still unsolved. In February 2009, however, a cold case detective squad decided to re-investigate the case. Investigators discovered female DNA from a bite mark on Rasmussen's body, and Stephanie Lazarus became the prime suspect. After the detectives were able to match Lazarus' DNA with the DNA found on Rasmussen's body, Lazarus was arrested for the murder on June 5, 2009. She was then allowed to retire early from the LAPD; she was held in the Los Angeles County Jail with a $10 million bail.Stephanie Lazarus' murder trial began in early 2012. Prosecutors believed Lazarus' motive for the murder was jealousy over Sherri Rasmussen's relationship with her ex-boyfriend, John Ruetten. The prosecutor, Deputy District Attorney Shannon Presby stated, "A bite, a bullet, a gun barrel and a broken heart. That's the evidence that will prove to you that defendant Stephanie Lazarus murdered Sherri Rasmussen.Lazarus' attorney, Mark Overland, argued that the investigation into Rasmussen's death was botched from the beginning, and the evidence collected did not point to Lazarus as Rasmussen's killer. On March 8, 2012, Lazarus was convicted of Rasmussen's murder in the first-degree. She was later sentenced in May 2012 to 27 years to life in prison, and she is currently serving her sentence at the Central California Women's Facility. She will be eligible for parole in 2039.Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. The Staudte Family Murders case, also known as "The Antifreeze Murders", was a series of killings and attempted killings within the Staudte Family of Springfield, Missouri during a five-month period in 2012. Family matriarch Diane Staudte and her daughter, Rachel Staudte, committed the crimes together using antifreeze purchased off the internet, with the rationale that antifreeze sold online would not contain the added bittering agent in commercial chemicals making the ethylene glycol poison detectable. Diane's husband, Mark Staudte, was murdered first, followed five months later by her autistic 26-year-old son, Shaun Staudte. 24-year-old daughter Sarah Staudte had also been poisoned with the antifreeze, being taken to hospital in critical condition. Sarah survived the poisoning and later recovered, albeit with physical and neurological damage. Diane Staudte was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 2016, while Rachel Staudte pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in May 2015 as part of a plea deal in exchange for testifying against her mother at her trial, eventually being sentenced in March 2016 to life in prison with the possibility of parole. To find out more about Dr. Joni Johnston please follow the link below.https://www.drjonijohnston.com/Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Matej Čurko (1968 – May 12, 2011), known as The Slovak Cannibal, was a Slovak murderer, cannibal and suspected serial killer. He was killed by police after attempting to entice a Swiss man to his death, and upon investigation, it was discovered that he had killed and eaten two women who had volunteered themselves to be murdered and cannibalized. Soon afterwards, police from Italy announced that the killer could be responsible for up to 28 other disappearances since 2009.At the time of the murders, Čurko lived in Sokoľ, and regularly traveled to the Kysak forest, where he would meet and subsequently kill the victims. He met them mainly through suicide forums, using the handle "Orion218". The victims, most of whom had suicidal tendencies and openly professed their desire to end their lives, voluntarily agreed to be killed by the cannibal. The procedure involved the pair meeting in the forest, where Čurko would drug the victim before stabbing them in the heart. Afterwards, he would cut up the body using a meat cleaver or one of his many knives, and mask the odor of rotten flesh using pepper. Then, at his pleasure, he would eat whatever part of the body he desired, storing the rest in his refrigerator in Kysak and burying the bodies in shallow graves on his property.During the search of his property, only two bodies were discovered: those of 30-year-old Elena Gudjakova, from Oravské Veselé, who went missing on June 23, 2010; and the other of 20-year-old Lucia Uchnárová, from Snina, who went missing on September 3, 2010. Both women had issues with mental health, with Lucia previously attempting suicide in 2008, and both had contacted Čurko through the Internet. Their bodies were later found in shallow graves on Čurko's property.Episode Links:Slovak Spectator 1720Matej Čurko svoje obete dobodal, rozštvrtil, odrezal im časti tela, ktoré zrejme zjedolhttps://refresher.sk/55535-Pripad-slovenskeho-kanibala-Matej-Curko-vo-svojej-mailovej-komunikacii-priznal-ako-ho-vzrusuje-pach-ludskeho-masa-a-jeho-konzumacia?gdpr-accept=https://www.corriere.it/english/11_agosto_02/cannibal-victims_fa52f944-bcf3-11e0-b530-d2ad6f731cf9.shtmlhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matej_ČurkoHere's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.com HWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. estibaliz Carranza "Ice Cream Killer" who chopped husband and lover up with chainsaw. An Austrian court has sentenced a woman dubbed the "ice killer" who cut up her husband and lover with a chain saw and hid them in the cellar of her ice cream parlour to life in a mental institution.Goidsargi Estibaliz Carranza Zabala, 34, who has joint Spanish-Mexican citizenship, was sentenced to life in a secure mental institution for killing her ex-husband in 2008 and two years later her new partner."I can't say anything other than that I am sorry that I took Holger and Manfred's lives," a tearful Carranza said in a short final statement to the court in Vienna after a trial lasting four days.Chief prosecutor Petra Freh said the killings were "depraved and horrific," calling her a "highly dangerous woman ready to do anything."Carranza shot Holger Holz and Manfred Hinterberger, dismembered them and then concealed the parts in lumps of concrete that she then stashed in the cellar of her "Schleckeria" shop in the Austrian capital. The grisly remains were discovered by chance during maintenance work in June 2011. After going on the run to Italy, Carranza was captured several days afterwards and later extradited. The trial attracted considerable media attention and on Wednesday involved a PowerPoint presentation by a court-appointed medical expert of photos of the sawn-off heads and other body parts of the victims.Carranza made a full confession to the court in a long and detailed testimony on Monday. She portrayed Holz as a violent and lazy bully, and said that in her relationship to Hinterberger, an ice cream machinery salesman, she felt like she was "in a prison."When arrested, Carranza was two-months pregnant by another man, whom she married in prison in March this year. The baby boy was born in January but was immediately taken away from her and is now reportedly being looked after by her parents in Barcelona, Spain."He is totally different. He is very gentle, the opposite of macho," Carranza said of her new husband. Reports said she intends to apply to be transferred to a prison in Spain in order to be able to see her son regularly. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.comHWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Marie-Fortunée Lafarge (née Capelle; 15 January 1816 – 7 November 1852) was a French woman who was convicted of murdering her husband by arsenic poisoning in 1840. Her case became notable because it was one of the first trials to be followed by the public through daily newspaper reports, and because she was the first person convicted largely on direct forensic toxicological evidence. However, questions about Lafarge's guilt divided French society to the extent that it is often compared to the better-known Dreyfus affair. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.comHWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. In 1979, Pruett was given $800, a new name (Charles "Sonny" Pearson), and placed in the United States Federal Witness Protection Program after testifying about a federal prison slaying in Atlanta, Georgia. He then began his crime spree under his alias. Pruett would later claim that he had perpetrated the prison murder, contradicting his previous testimony for which he had received federal protection.Pruett killed Peggy Lowe after he kidnapped her on September 17, 1981 while robbing the Metrocenter Branch of Unifirst Bank (later Trustmark National Bank) in Jackson, Mississippi where she worked; Bobbie Jean Robertson, a convenience store clerk in Fort Smith, Arkansas; and two convenience store clerks in Colorado. He received the death penalty for Lowe's murder, two more life sentences for the murders in Colorado, and the death penalty for Robertson's murder. On trial in New Mexico for the March 2, 1981, murder of his common-law wife, Pamela Sue Barker (aka Michelle Lynn Pearson), Pruett admitted he had robbed her in order to support a $4,000 a week cocaine habit, but denied that he killed Barker, who was beaten to death, then set on fire. He was convicted, and given a third life sentence. From death row, he asked a Mississippi newspaper to pay him $20,000 to disclose the location of Barker's engagement ring, and offered to reveal the location of a Florida victim's body in exchange for a paid appearance on Geraldo. His final meal consisted of a stuffed crust pizza from Pizza Hut, four Burger King Whoppers, a large order of French fries, three two-liter bottles of Pepsi, a bucket of ice, a bottle of ketchup, salt, fried eggplant, fried squash, fried okra, and a pecan pie. In an interview prior to his execution date, Pruett said he was going to share his last meal with another inmate who was going to be executed the same day. He went on to say he originally wanted to have a roast duck for his last meal, but it was rejected because he felt the prison would not cook it.Pruett was executed by lethal injection at 8:04 PM and pronounced dead at 8:09 PM. Pruett was the 19th person executed by Arkansas since Furman v. Georgia. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.comHWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Jonna (born in 1989) met a guy named Jonas through a mutual friend in the summer of 2013. She fell head over heals, madly in love with him. In court recordings you can hear her saying "Jonas var som en drog för mig", translated: "Jonas was like a drug to me".“ Hi. Considering your silence towards me I have realised that you have not chosen me, so I thought I'd stop by to collect my things. On the afternoon of 28 July 2021, a decapitated body was discovered in the middle of an intersection in Shakopee, Minnesota, a Twin Cities suburb; the head was also found nearby. The victim was identified as America Mafalda Thayer, a 55-year-old woman from Shakopee. The suspect is 42-year-old Alexis Saborit, an undocumented immigrant from Cuba and Thayer's boyfriend. He was apprehended by police 1.5 miles away from the scene and is currently facing first-degree murder charges.Alexis Saborit was the boyfriend of America Thayer; the two had been dating for roughly seven years.Saborit is an illegal immigrant from Cuba, who was wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. According them, he has a criminal record which included domestic assault charges in Minnesota and Louisiana, a DUI, and running from a police officer. They attempted to deport him in 2012, but Cuba would not approve his travel documents and so he remained in the country. He was convicted of domestic violence in 2017 when he pinned Thayer to the ground after becoming suspicious that she had been speaking to another man at a bar. Before the trial, a restraining order was put in place against him, but was removed after Thayer sent the court a handwritten note asking for it to be overturned.Saborit was scheduled to appear in Scott County court on the day of the killing on charges of arson after he allegedly set fire to his apartment. On 28 July 2021, Saborit and Thayer were driving through Shakopee. According to Saborit, an altercation between the two of them broke out after Thayer told him that she wanted to break up with him. Saborit pulled out a machete, which he often carried with him, and beheaded Thayer. At around 2:30 PM, the Shakopee Police Department responded to a report of a headless body dumped from a car near 4th and Spencer. When they arrived on the scene, they found America Thayer's headless body, along with her head, lying near her car. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Further investigation of the scene revealed a machete and bloody clothing in the recycling bin of a nearby alleyway.Police documents show that several people witnessed the killing. One person recorded a video of Saborit dumping the body, then picking up Thayer's head by the hair. Another reported seeing Saborit hitting something and throwing it.Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.comHWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. John Reginald Halliday Christie (8 April 1899 – 15 July 1953), known to his family and friends as Reg Christie, was an English serial killer and alleged necrophile active during the 1940s and early 1950s. He murdered at least eight people—including his wife, Ethel—by strangling them in his flat at 10 Rillington Place, Notting Hill, London. The bodies of three of Christie's victims were found in a wallpaper-covered kitchen alcove soon after Christie moved out of Rillington Place during March 1953. The remains of two more victims were discovered in the garden, and his wife's body was found beneath the floorboards of the front room. Christie was arrested and convicted of his wife's murder, for which he was hanged. Two of Christie's victims were Beryl Evans and her baby daughter Geraldine, who, along with Beryl's husband, Timothy Evans, were tenants at 10 Rillington Place during 1948–49. This case sparked huge controversy after Evans was charged with both murders, found guilty of the murder of his daughter, and hanged in 1950. Christie was a major prosecution witness; when his own crimes were discovered three years later, serious doubts were raised about the integrity of Evans's conviction. Christie himself subsequently admitted killing Beryl, but not Geraldine; it is now generally accepted that Christie murdered both Beryl and Geraldine and that police mishandling of the original inquiry allowed Christie to escape detection and enabled him to murder four more women. The High Court quashed Evans's conviction in 2004, accepting that Evans did not murder either his wife or his child. Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.comHWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. On 4 March 2018, Skripal and his 33-year-old daughter Yulia, who was visiting from Moscow, were found "slipping in and out of consciousness on a public bench" near a shopping centre in Salisbury by a doctor and nurse who were passing by. While at Salisbury District Hospital, they were put into induced comas to prevent organ damage due to being poisoned by the lethal nerve agent Novichok. The police declared a major incident as a number of agencies were involved.[59] Following the incident, health authorities checked 21 members of the emergency services and the public for symptoms; two police officers were treated for possible minor symptoms, said to be itchy eyes and wheezing, while a third, Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey, who had been sent to Sergei Skripal's house, was in a serious condition. As of 11 March 2018, Bailey remained seriously ill but stable. By 22 March 2018, he had recovered enough to be discharged from the hospital, and by 15 January 2019, he returned to active duty. As of 15 March 2018, Skripal and his daughter remained critically ill. On 29 March, Yulia was reported to be out of critical condition, "conscious and talking".On 6 March, it was agreed under the National Counter Terrorism Policing Network that the Counter Terrorism Command based within the Metropolitan Police would take over the investigation from Wiltshire Police. Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, head of Counter Terrorism Policing, appealed for witnesses to the incident following a COBR meeting chaired by Home Secretary Amber Rudd.On 12 March 2018, Prime Minister Theresa May identified the nerve agent used in the attack as Russian-developed Novichok and demanded explanation from the Russian government. Two days later, May said that Russia was responsible for the incident and announced the expulsion of 23 Russian diplomats in retaliation. In mid-March 2018, Russia said that its diplomats were denied access to both Sergei Skripal and his daughter, who is a Russian national. On 31 March 2018 the BBC reported that the UK was considering the Russian Embassy's request, 'in line with its obligations under international and domestic law.https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-43315636https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/09/world/europe/sergei-skripal-russian-spy-poisoning.htmlhttps://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/dec/26/skripal-poisonings-bungled-assassination-kremlin-putin-salisburyhttps://www.bbc.com/news/uk-44278609Here's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.comHWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. In the early morning of March 16, 1988, racing legend Mickey Thompson and his wife Trudy were shot and killed in their driveway as they were leaving for work. Two gunmen left the scene - on bicycles no less - and have never been identified or apprehended. After 13 years of no leads in the investigation, Mickey Thompson's former business partner, Michael Goodwin, was arrested for the murders in 2001. Thompson and Goodwin had entered into a business partnership that ended quickly and badly, over money disputes and resulted in many bitter lawsuits with Michael Goodwin filing for bankruptcy and Mickey not... Many witnesses stated that in the months before the murders took place that, Michael had made statements that he intended to kill Mickey Thompson but there was no physical proof that he did.Although the evidence at his trial was purely circumstantial, nineteen years after the murders, in January 2007, a jury convicted Michael Goodwin on two counts of first degree murder. Michael Goodwin was sentenced to life in prison, without parole. In addition, the jury found that the murders of Mickey and Trudy were committed by "means of lying in wait" - a very fancy way of saying that, the murders were a hit. Michael Goodwin has strongly contested his conviction due to the lack of physical evidence and he has made many attempts to appeal, all of which have been unsuccessful. He has continued to maintain his innocence in the years following the conviction. Ex-Thompson Partner Denies Asset Fraud : Courts: Michael F. Cops dedicated an entire episode ("Smooth Criminal", season 24, episode 3, originally aired September 24, 2011) to the case of call girl/escort Delilah "Dalia" Dippolito of Florida, who was accused of solicitation to commit first-degree murder after being secretly videotaped hiring a hitman (who was actually an undercover cop) to kill her husband in 2009. At trial, her defense attorney claimed that Dippolito was tricked into signing the Cops release form. The defense attorney also claimed that her husband orchestrated the plot to get aired on Cops. In truth, Cops producers were outraged when investigators persuaded Dippolito to sign the release form before they questioned her, believing that since it was done under color of law, it would be useless. They later convinced Dippolito to sign a second waiver, saying they would give her a chance to tell her side of the story.Ultimately, both defenses failed, and Dippolito was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison. However, the state's Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered a new trial in 2014, finding that the judge at the first trial erred by not doing enough to ensure that jurors weren't improperly exposed to pre-trial publicity. The appeals court found that the judge should have questioned the jurors individually, rather than as a group, regarding how much they knew about the case. It also found that the judge should have dismissed the entire jury when one prospective juror revealed she had read about Dippolito's attempt at poisoning her husband. She was later released on an appeal to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, pending a retrial on May 23, 2016. On August 17, 2016, the appeals court rejected her appeal without comment. Her retrial began with jury selection on December 1, 2016. The jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict and a mistrial was declared on December 14, 2016. A second retrial was scheduled to start in June 2017. On June 16, 2017, she was convicted. She faced up to 20 years in prison when sentenced on July 21, 2017. Judge Glenn Kelley ordered her held without bail. Her defense attorneys said they would appeal the verdict. On July 21, 2017, Dippolito was sentenced to 16 years in prisonHere's how and where you can find Homicide Worldwide Podcast. To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.comHWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. Uthra was a twenty-five-year-old woman, who was killed by a Cobra bite that was manually inflicted while she slept. She had been recovering in her parents' home, in Anchal, from another snakebite, which occurred in March 2020, from a Russells Viper, in the home she shared with her husband and young son. Snakebites are unfortunately, common in India. But that two different species of snake, bit Uthra in a span of 52 days, both in extremely unlikely and separate conditions prompted Uthras family to have her husband, Sooraj S. Kumar, a twenty-seven-year-old bank employee, investigated. Thanks to her parent's suspicions, evidence that could not be ignored and a rigorous forensic investigation, the truth was uncovered, and this unprecedented case has led to the creation of a whole new category of police training in India. This case is now used as a teaching module for snake bite investigations. On July 14, 2019, 17-year-old Bianca Michelle Devins was murdered by Brandon Andrew Clark after attending a concert in New York. They had become friends over social media just a few months prior to the murder. (Some say they dated, but that remains unclear). He then posted her death photo to his social media accounts, resulting in the picture being reposted hundreds of thousands of times over the next 24 hours. Social media companies' responses were heavily criticized as the photos were up for so long. After calling the police on himself, a few hours after the murder, he attempted suicide - in front of police. He survived and was charged with second-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Bianca struggled with mental health during her teen years and had just found a path after finally receiving a proper diagnosis. Despite the difficulties she faced, she graduated high school in June of 2019 and her goal was to begin college in the fall and earn a degree in Psychology so that she could help kids such as herself. Please click the first link below to support the Bianca Devins scholarship fund. Caylee Marie Anthony (August 9, 2005 – 2008) was an American girl who lived in Orlando, Florida, with her mother, Casey Marie Anthony (born March 19, 1986), and her maternal grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony. On July 15, 2008, she was reported missing in a 9-1-1 call made by Cindy, who said she had not seen Caylee for 31 days and that Casey's car smelled like a dead body had been inside it. Cindy said Casey had given varied explanations as to Caylee's whereabouts before finally telling her that she had not seen Caylee for weeks. Casey lied to detectives, telling them Caylee had been kidnapped by a nanny on June 9, and that she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities.[3] She was charged with first-degree murder in October 2008 and pleaded not guilty. On December 11, 2008, two-year-old Caylee's skeletal remains were found with a blanket inside a laundry bag in a wooded area near the Anthony family's house. Investigative reports and trial testimony varied between duct tape being found near the front of the skull and on the mouth of the skull. The medical examiner mentioned duct tape as one reason she determined the death was a homicide, while the cause of death was listed as "death by undetermined means".The trial lasted six weeks, from May to July 2011. The prosecution sought the death penalty and alleged Casey wished to free herself from parental responsibilities and murdered her daughter by administering chloroform and applying duct tape. The defense team, led by Jose Baez, countered that the child had drowned accidentally in the family's swimming pool on June 16, 2008, and that George Anthony disposed of the body. The defense contended that Casey lied about this and other issues because of a dysfunctional upbringing, which they said included sexual abuse by her father. The defense did not present evidence as to how Caylee died, nor evidence that Casey was sexually abused as a child, but challenged every piece of the prosecution's evidence, calling much of it "fantasy forensics". Casey did not testify. On July 5, 2011, the jury found Casey not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer. With credit for time served, she was released on July 17, 2011. A Florida appeals court overturned two of the misdemeanor convictions on January 25, 2013.The not-guilty murder verdict was greeted with public outrage and was both attacked and defended by media and legal commentators. Some complained that the jury misunderstood the meaning of reasonable doubt, while others said the prosecution relied too heavily on the defendant's allegedly poor moral character because they had been unable to show conclusively how the victim had died.Time magazine described the case as "the social media trial of the century".To help support the show, find us on Patreon: patreon.comHWW is now on Discord: https://discord.gg/F9cMyf7JFJTo our amazing listeners. GOLDEN AGE OF SERIAL KILLERS - PART 2Last week in Part 1, we explored some fundamental circumstances surrounding the extremelyunique time and space that is, what we now call, “The Golden Age of Serial Killers”… Thecollision course of the post-world war 2 era and the distracting Pollyanna image that Americawas so desperate to portray, along with dark, deeply guarded secrets lurking within familieswas only the beginning of a nightmare we wouldn't wake from for 30 years. What we will see as we play host to the many guests this evening, is that there is an undeniablecommonality between the vast majority. Its unfortunate that what America projected was not the reality of the times… On the surface, aperfect family – mom with her coiffed hair wearing a charming dress, making dinner in herheels … Dad coming home at a predictable hour every day, because he was a good provider andthe company he worked for still cared about its people… Conversation at the dinner table abouthow everyone's day went and a recap of schoolwork or, the occasional ever-valuable lessonlearned from an “Awe Shucks” kind of mistake that little Johnny made.Whenever I look back to this period in America, while most of these upcoming Serial Killerswere kids in the 1950's and 1960's I often do so through a nostalgic and ideological lens. But itwas anything but ideal for some …. and the afore mentioned dream we were sold, was about toimplode. It was a contradiction in culture that could not stay dormant forever….and as we well knowviolence begets violence and these wars shaped the minds of the soldiers who were in them –some so young that they lied about their age in order to serve their country, only to grow upthemselves, amidst terror, atrocity and death. So much so that some of their sons would go onto become vicious sadists, rapists and murderers. There is no simple answer here and, we are not experts but its worth delving into the twistedand often convoluted worlds to connect the dots as to why this Golden Age of Serial Killershappened when and how it did…. As one of our favorite authors, Katherine Ramsland says, ‘it'smore about the puzzle – the interesting labyrinth of human emotions and human motives'….This is episode 37, PART 2 of Homicide Worldwide
