Opening Prayer "The sick man answered and said, I have no man to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I'm coming, another steps down before me. Jesus said to him, rise, take up your bed and walk." I am going to be sharing the word of God with you, and I do believe that you are going to experience a miracle. People are going to get set free, you're going to get delivered, you're going to see and begin to experience the miracle power of God that is available for you because of Jesus Christ, who died on a cross 2,000 years ago and paid the price for your sin. And because of his sacrifice, you can be reconnected to God. And being reconnected to God, there is a newness of life that is given to you. Jesus Christ himself said, "I came to give you life eternally, but I came also to give you life abundantly. I came to give you a reason to live. I came to give you a story of what I'm going to do in your life that only God can accomplish." And once the word of God is spoken and you've had an opportunity to respond, then you can celebrate that with us. Father God Almighty, I thank you for the anointing of your Holy Spirit. Lord, you told us years ago, cast the internet on the right side of the boat and I will bring in a harvest. And we obeyed you. And this prayer meeting is now in over 200 countries and dependencies around the world, and Lord, you're going to bring in a harvest. God, I thank you for the numbers of people who are going to come out of darkness and into light, out of captivity and into freedom, out of weakness and into strength, out of confusion into clarity of thought. God, you're going to send healing into homes, families, marriages, minds. God, you're going to deliver. Lord, we boast about you, we talk about you, but the work is all yours, and we acknowledge that. You have the power, and you proved your heart when you went to a cross. It wasn't just a vain display of your affection. Lord, there was power released when you were raised from the dead, and because of that, God, we have hope in this generation. Lord Jesus Christ, we ask you that the work that you came to do, you would do today. God, you would set free the oppressed, give sight to the blind. Let the poor have the treasure of heaven open to them, the strength of God revealed to them. Heal those that have been wounded so deeply they think they'll never recover. Bring healing into their lives. Lift up the weak. Set free, God, those that are captivated. And Lord, we ask you to do this for the glory of your name. Lord, it's time for you to work. God, the world is dark, the day is late, you're coming soon. We ask you, God, to move in miraculous power again in this generation. As you have done — we sing about it — do what you are famous for. Do what you have done, what you have displayed, what you've shown us, God. Clearly in the scriptures, we see your heart. You healed all who came to you. You never turned somebody away and said, come back some other time. You healed every person. We are here to declare your victory, your power, your heart, your cross, your work. And we do it in Jesus' name. Amen. The Pool of Bethesda — John 5 My message is called "Will You Be Made Whole?" John 5, beginning at verse 2: "Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water." I think of the numbers of people who are exactly like this — sick, blind. You don't see a way forward. You don't have the strength to get up and move into what God has. You're paralyzed by fear, perhaps, and you're waiting for your divine moment. The moving of the water symbolizes a divine moment. It was the stirring of God, and whoever got up and got into the stirring of this water first was healed of whatever disease or circumstance they had. "For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water, that whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years." I want you to picture that. Can you imagine what this man felt like? Thirty-eight years lying there, unable to move, can't see a way forward. The only way forward is if he can make it into a divine moment in his life. He somehow knows that only God can make a difference. Thirty-eight years of hopelessness. "When Jesus saw him lying there, he knew that he had already been there in that condition a long time. And he said to him, 'Do you want to be made whole?'" "The sick man answered him, 'Sir, I have no man to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up. But while I'm coming, another steps down before me.'" In other words, maybe there were people there at one point saying, "Hey, we're going to do this together. We're going to get you through this. We're going to fight through this together." But after thirty-eight years, everybody gave up. There's nobody left. Nobody there to help him. All of the words of encouragement that would be spoken into this man's life are gone. There's just nobody there. It's only him. Don't you love it that when everybody's gone, Jesus Christ is still there? He is the one who sticks closer than a brother. He does not walk away from us in our struggle, in our time of difficulty. "Jesus said to him, 'Rise, take up your bed and walk.' And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed and walked. And that day was the Sabbath." Gary's Story — A Modern Miracle Several years ago, this prayer meeting used to be on a Tuesday night in New York City at Times Square Church. And requests were coming in from all over the world, but some were repetitive. There was this one that kept coming in from a place called Newfoundland in Canada, from a lady called Heather. She kept saying, "Pray for my husband Gary. My husband Gary is a drug addict. Everyone has given up on my husband Gary." As a matter of fact, in line with this passage, Gary had been a drug addict for 38 years. Gary had gone to every conceivable program known to humanity and nobody had been able to help him. He would always get out, maybe experience momentary victory, and then go back again into his old habits. He had a chair in the house and used to sit in that chair and do drugs — whatever kind, some of them were pretty hard drugs. Heather was watching this prayer meeting, this worldwide prayer meeting. And one night the Spirit of God came upon her and she went downstairs, got an axe, and chopped his chair to pieces in the living room. I told her she should write a pamphlet and call it the Book of Acts, according to Heather. She chopped Gary's chair to pieces in the living room and she said, "Satan, no more in this house. No more drugs in this house. No more debauchery in this house. No more captivity in this house — because I'm hearing something online. I'm hearing a message that I can be free. My marriage can be restored. My husband can be delivered." She kept giving those prayer requests week after week. Pray for my husband Gary and my son Liam, if I remember correctly. So one Tuesday night I got up and I saw that Heather had submitted another prayer request: pray for my husband Gary. And at that moment, the Holy Spirit came upon me. Now you and I need to learn this — especially the students here in this Bible school. We need to learn to cooperate with the Holy Spirit because we live a supernatural life. The Spirit of God is within us. And if we learn to cooperate with God, when God is moving and God is speaking, miracles start happening. I looked into the screen that night and I pointed my finger at the screen. I said, "Gary, listen to me. You are not a drug addict. God has called you to be an evangelist. You are an evangelist. You're not a drug addict." He'd been 38 years on drugs...

Mary welcomes Thomas Littleton to this edition of SUFTT to talk about the descent into compromise over LGBTQ inclusion theology in conservative – yes, conservative – churches. Thomas Littleton is an ordained Southern Baptist minister and evangelist with over 4 1/2 decades on the streets of such places as New Orleans, Atlanta, and New York City (while in New York he worked with David Wilkerson’s Times Square Church, author of The Cross and the Switchblade). He has also done extensive outreach at America’s beaches, university campuses, and foreign fields of Eastern and Western Europe and Central and South America. He has a long history engaging the Arts and LGBT community through heading a Christian Arts based ministry in NW Georgia and worked on the front lines of the AIDS health crisis of the mid 80s and 90s. Littleton knows the origins, methods and goals of the LGBTQ activist movement and the faithful Biblical response for believers anchored in the power of the Gospel by the CROSS and resurrection of Jesus. Welcome to Inwood Art Works On Air podcast. This episode puts the spotlight on local filmmaker, Caleb Clarke.Caleb Clarke is a Manhattan-based writer, director, and editor who is drawn to themes of grace, shame, and redemption as well as the destigmatization of mental health issues. Caleb wrote the screenplays for three narrative short films produced through Times Square Church. Of those, his favorite project with TSC is Unseen (2023), a short he also directed and edited that explores faith and mental health. Caleb has shot and edited branded content, music videos, a dance film, and worked as an additional editor on a feature length documentary for Athletic Brewing.Currently, Caleb resides in Washington Heights surrounded by many actor friends who helped inspire the theatrical setting of his upcoming short film An Act of Penance, which he received an Inwood Film Festival Filmmaker fund award. THE WIDOW'S OFFERING Mark 12:41–44 Culture of Gospel Share this with someone in your life who doesn't know Jesus: Jesus sees value where the world sees insignificance. The God who notices a poor widow's two pennies is the same God who sees you and knows you. SERMON SUMMARY Jesus sits in the temple, watching people give their offerings. In a surprising move, He draws His disciples' attention—not to the wealthy, powerful, or impressive, but to a poor widow who drops in two tiny coins. Her gift, seemingly worthless, becomes one of the most famous moments of worship in all of Scripture. Coleton teaches that Jesus uses this woman as an object lesson to form His disciples—and us. The heart of the message is this: Jesus highlights this woman because He wants His followers to live with her kind of obedience, sacrifice, and trust. Coleton explores three reasons Jesus focuses our attention on this woman's life. 1. Be Obedient With the Seemingly Insignificant Stuff Mark 12:41–42 “Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.” Jesus watches people give. Many contribute large sums, but a poor widow drops in two lepta—the smallest coins in circulation. Mark Strauss writes: “Two lepta could almost purchase a handful of flour… less than one penny today.” In other words, her gift can't pay for anything. If we watched her give, most of us would be tempted to say, “Ma'am, please keep it. It won't help.” But she gives anyway. She does not give based on outcomes or impact—she gives out of obedience. This is the first lesson: Obedience is not about impact. It's about faithfulness. Christians often fall into disobedience because we think: What difference will forgiving them make? What difference will praying make? What difference will reading my Bible make? What difference does kindness make? But Coleton reminds us: Nearly everything God calls His people to do looks insignificant in the moment—but God loves to use small acts to unleash enormous outcomes. Examples from Scripture: Moses: “Raise your staff over the sea.” Joshua: “March around Jericho.” Samuel: “Anoint the youngest son, the shepherd boy.” And the results? A sea split, walls fell, and David became Israel's greatest king. Examples from Jesus' ministry: “Fill the jars with water.” “Bring me what bread you have.” “Go show yourself to the priest.” Again and again, God works through small acts of obedience. Coleton then shares the story of David Wilkerson, the small-town pastor who obeyed a tiny, strange prompting: stop watching TV at night and pray instead. That insignificant act eventually led him to New York City, to ministry among gang members, to founding Teen Challenge, and to beginning Times Square Church—now influencing 140 nations. What began with giving up TV changed lives worldwide. Coleton also shares from his own life: A simple prayer to surrender his life to Jesus Reading Scripture daily Going to counseling Turning the other cheek Fasting and praying None of these felt dramatic in the moment. All of them changed his life. Point: God delights to work through the small things. Jesus points to this woman because she obeys God even in the places that seem insignificant. 2. Be Obedient Even When It Costs You Mark 12:44 “They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” The widow's obedience isn't just small—it's costly. She gives all she has. Literally, she “lays down her whole life.” James R. Edwards paraphrases the Greek: “She lay down her whole life.” This is the second reason Jesus points to her: Jesus wants followers who obey even when obedience costs them something. Coleton notes that Western Christians often prefer convenient obedience. But true discipleship requires sacrifice. C.S. Lewis wrote: “I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give… The only safe rule is to give more than we can spare… If our charities do not at all pinch or hamper us, I should say they are too small.” This doesn't apply only to money. It applies to: Forgiveness — which costs us comfort and pride Confession — which costs our image Serving the poor — which costs our time and resources Living within our means — which costs our wants Marriage and parenting — which cost our preferences and independence Coleton gives honest, vulnerable examples: In marriage, he could “win” arguments by being bigger and louder—but that would crush intimacy. As a father, he could refuse to sacrifice his time—but Teddy would pay the price. In friendships, refusing to risk or be selfless leads to loneliness. We want life on our terms but still want the fruits of obedience. But we cannot have both. Then Coleton shares a story about Teddy getting stuck in a playground structure—terrified and refusing help because doing it “Dad's way” felt worse than being stuck. That posture, he says, is all of us: We would rather stay stuck than trust Jesus when His way feels costly. Jesus points to the woman because her costly obedience leads to life. Jesus doesn't ask for sacrifice to harm us but to heal and free us. 3. Trust Him Even When It Doesn't Make Sense This widow doesn't just obey—she trusts God with her entire life. Jesus celebrates her because she trusts God beyond her understanding. Coleton illustrates this with one of the most powerful stories of trust ever recorded: Charles Blondin, the tightrope walker who crossed Niagara Falls. After crossing the falls multiple daring ways, Blondin decided to cross with another person on his back. His manager, Harry Colcord, was the one who climbed onto him. Before stepping onto the rope, Blondin told him: “Don't look down. Look up… You must be one with me. If I sway, sway with me. Do not attempt to do any balancing yourself. If you do, we will both go to our death.” Harry later said: “I learned more religion on that wire than in all my life.” Solomon says the same thing in Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Jesus calls us to trust Him because He wants to lead us into places we could never reach on our own. Coleton names the hard questions: Why trust Jesus when it doesn't make sense to surrender? Why trust when prayer feels pointless? Why forgive enemies? Why give sacrificially? Why wait on God? Why believe He can use suffering for good? Jesus is not dismissing the tension—He's saying: “Stop trying to balance yourself. Let Me carry you.” The widow shows us what that kind of trust looks like. FINAL CHALLENGE Jesus points to this woman because: She obeys God in the insignificant things. She obeys God even when it costs her. She trusts God even when it makes no sense. And Jesus wants the same kind of life in us—not to burden us, but to lead us into freedom, joy, and the abundant life He promises. He has already proven His love by giving everything for us. Therefore, we can entrust everything to Him. Discipleship Group Questions Where in your life does obedience feel insignificant or pointless? What might God be asking you to do anyway? What is one area where following Jesus currently costs you? How might obedience in that area lead to greater freedom? Which of Jesus' commands do you struggle to trust because it doesn't make sense to you? How have you seen God work through something small or seemingly insignificant in your life? What would it look like this week to “sway with God” instead of trying to balance your own life?

According to wikipedia; Conlon was born and raised in Noranda, Quebec. He graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario where he received a bachelor's degree in law and sociology. In 1987, he left his 12-year career as a police officer to enter full-time ministry. He founded a church, a Christian school, and a food bank in Riceville, Canada. He owned and operated a sheep farm as well. During those years, he also traveled throughout the country—speaking at various churches from Prince Edward Island to Alberta, to the Inuit in the Arctic. In 1994, he joined the pastoral staff of Times Square Church at the invitation of founding pastor, David Wilkerson. He was appointed to the office of senior pastor in 2001. Conlon announced in February 2020 that he would be stepping down as Senior Pastor of Times Square Church in May of the same year, passing the leadership to Tim Dilena, in order to focus on his radio ministry, speaking and writing books.    

Day 248 Today's Reading: Revelation 10 David Wilkerson was a spiritual father to me. His investment in my life was so significant that I am in ministry today because of him. He is the founder of Teen Challenge, the author of The Cross and the Switchblade, and the founding pastor of Times Square Church, and he made an imprint on my life, unlike anybody in my early years. From the investment of wisdom, finances, time, and opportunity, one thing I have today, which he gave me when he ordained me, was a New American Standard Bible that he signed in the front. He also included a verse from Revelation 10. Let's look at our passage for today, which includes the verse David Wilkerson wrote in my Bible: “The voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying, “Go, take the book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land.” So I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book. And he said to me, “Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.” I took the little book out of the angel's hand and ate it, and in my mouth it was sweet as honey; and when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter.” (Revelation 10:8-10) David Wilkerson was challenging me to be a man of the book. The book means the Bible. He was wanting me to understand that when we devour the Bible by reading it and studying it, there will be places in it that will be sweet and some places that will be bitter. When John was being challenged to eat the book, it was not literally but figuratively. Eating meant study, read, and apply, not actually eating. I read this crazy story of someone who missed the point of Revelation 10. In the early 1900s, the Ethiopian emperor Menelik II grew ill. Believing the Bible could cure him, he ate pages of the Bible. He died in 1913 after eating the entire book of 2 Kings. The book of 2 Kings is good but not good enough to eat all twenty-five chapters. The Bible becomes bitter when truth troubles me when it contradicts me. Then it's swallowing a bitter pill but a healthy one. When it's bitter, I am tempted to theologize the concepts away or to pass over it, but that's hard to do when you are eating the book. E. Paul Hovey so insightfully said: “Men do not reject the Bible because it contradicts itself but because it contradicts them.” Those are the bitter sections. But to be honest, there are a lot of sweet spots in the Word. And when you hit a sweet spot, there is nothing like it. A sweet spot is getting something from the Bible that you needed that day, that moment, for encouragement and hope. I can say without a doubt, the honey-sweet verses make the bitter verses palatable, because when I hit a bitter verse, one that is challenging my behavior and attitude, a verse that refuses to move for me, I remember all the sweet ones and realize I can't always have dessert but need vegetables too. And that bitter verse isn't going to move. It's asking me to move. An officer in the navy had always dreamed of commanding a battleship. He was finally given commission of the newest ship in the fleet. One stormy night, as the ship plowed through the rough water, the captain was on the bridge and spotted a strange light rapidly closing in on his own vessel. This was before radio, so he ordered the signalman to flash the message to the unidentified craft, “Alter your course ten degrees to the south.” Only a moment passed before the reply came: “Alter your course ten degrees to the north.” Determined that his ship would take a backseat to no other, the captain snapped out the order: “Alter course ten degrees—I am the Captain!” The response came back, “Alter your course ten degrees—I am Seaman Third Class Jones.” Now infuriated, the captain grabbed the signal light with his ow
