Release date: May 2, 2008 (USA) Director: Jon Favreau
Iron Man is a 2008 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The first installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the Infinity Saga, it was directed by Jon Favreau from a screenplay by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway. The film follows Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), an industrialist and master engineer who builds a powered exoskeleton after a life-threatening incident, and becomes the technologically advanced superhero Iron Man. The film had been in development since 1990 at Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and New Line Cinema at various times, before Marvel Studios reacquired the rights in 2006. Marvel put the project in production as its first self-financed film, with Paramount Pictures as distributor. Favreau signed on as director, aiming for a naturalistic feel, and chose to shoot the film primarily in California, rejecting the East Coast setting of the comics to differentiate the film from numerous superhero films set in New York City-esque environments. Filming began in March 2007 and concluded in June. During filming, the actors were free to create their own dialogue because pre-production was focused on the story and action. Rubber and metal versions of the armors, created by Stan Winston's company, were mixed with computer-generated imagery to create the title character. Iron Man premiered in Sydney on April 14, 2008, and was released in the United States on May 2, 2008. The film grossed over $585 million on its $140 million budget, becoming the eighth-highest grossing film of 2008. It received praise from critics for its acting (particularly Downey's), screenplay, visual effects, and action sequences, and was selected by the American Film Institute as one of the ten best films of 2008. It received two nominations at the 81st Academy Awards for Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects, and was followed by the sequels Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3 in 2010 and 2013, respectively.

Avengers: Infinity War Spoiler Discussion w/ Guest Erik Davis (Fandango) To help us settle a few of these key issues with Infinity War, we called in some help. Erik Davis is the Managing Editor over at Fandango, and a long-time friend of the guys. He knows his stuff when it comes to movies, and especially the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So we asked him on ReelBlend, and he was an awesome guest. Listen to what he has to say. There were a lot of questions Jake Hamilton, Kevin McCarthy and Sean O'Connell wanted to address. What happened to the heroes? What will happen to those who are left? How does Thanos (Josh Brolin) know Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)? Why did Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) give up the Time Stone? After that, it was time for this week's #Blend, and man, was it a hard one. The guys chose Tom Cruise, and debated the seasoned A-Lister's BEST performance. Some of them landed on the same answer. The listeners, who played along using #CruiseBlend on social media, ended up with a totally different answer. That's how good Cruise is.

Movie Review! Movie Review! Does whatever a movie review does... Spider-Man: Homecoming! Spider-man has come home. He has joined the MCU. Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming is a movie nobody ever though would be made – a joint production between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. Tom Holland debuted his portrayal of Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War. Here he tries to balance high school life with being the hero Spider-Man as he faces the Vulture (Michael Keaton), keeping his secret crime-fighting identity from his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), and proving himself to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Best Spidey movie yet? Too much Iron Man? Are we too old for high school Peter Parker? Did Jason cry? WHO IS MICHELLE?

You can also watch the full podcast over on YouTube at the link below: Synopsis for our Captain America Civil War SPOILER FILLED Review Directed by: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo Written by: Christopher Markus , Stephen McFeely After the chaos and loss of New York and the Chitauri, the helicarrier destruction over Washington DC and then the battle of Sokovia a New Avengers incident in Lagos calls into question the role of the Avengers and their place in the world. The international community, led by the Country of Wakanda, begin to finalise new rules of engagement for the Avengers - The Sokovia Accords - that look to monitor and control the Avengers and the increasing number of superhumans. But this new treaty only spreads discord among the Avengers. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) supports oversight whilst Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), distrustful of the governments' motives, seeks to remain free to act as the team deem necessary. However, as tensions rise between the Avengers a new and personal perspective comes in to play for Captain America that only hardens his resolve against the Accords. As new companions are asked to fight and join opposing sides, an unknown enemy lurks in the shadows intent on revealing a disturbing legacy from the Soviet era that looks set to cause Civil War.
