I think it (along with the rest of the GameCube wrestling games) get overshadowed by the SmackDown series, but if you grew up playing the N64 holy grail titles, you have to play this one. Day of Reckoning's controls feel like the next-step from games like WCW/nWo Revenge and WWF No Mercy. Simple enough for anyone to pick up, but there's enough depth there for us die-hards to really sink our teeth into. Add in a decent roster and a solid career mode, and you have all the ingredients for at LEAST a four-star match. My guest this week is the official referee of RTG, Mike The Ref. We both love wrestling, love wrestling games, and really like Day of Reckoning. Some minor gripes and I explain why I prefer SmackDown, but all in all DoR is a must-play for any Ruthless Aggression era junkies. And before we ring the bell, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks bout the logic behind our scoring system. How do I feel about Wreck-It Ralph? And I give some one-handed game suggestions to a hot dog with a bad wing. Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 old-school wrasslin' games: WWF Attitude, ECW Hardcore Revolution, and WCW Mayhem. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This week's topic is the God Hates Us All cycle. Two weeks ago, all listeners learned about drummer Paul Bostaph's return to the band. Jon Dette got the boot. Spoiler: We haven't seen the last of him. And y'all learned about "No Remorse," their collaboration with German digital hardcore group Atari Teenage Riot. Last week, Patreon supporters heard all about the album Dee-ah-BOL-us in Musica, Slayer's polarizing foray into nü metal, which still rips pretty hard. Ferris is an award-winning writer. He has worked for Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, The AV Club, and Decibel magazine. He is a fan. He has opinions. He is the author of something like nine books, depending how you count them. Two are about Slayer. His bigger Slayer book, though, is the 2023 update of the full-on band biography "Slayer 66 & 2/3: A Metal Band Biography, POSTMORTEM Edition." Goldberg is on a quest to duplicate his streak and he's only 150 wins away from a title shot. Elsewhere, there's a whole lot of mediocrity as we suffer through another dud of a show. Join us as we creep into the home stretch of World Championship Wrestling, nearing the end of a year that saw the company lose $62 million. It's bad stuff folks, but on the bright side of things, we only have about a handful more of these abominations to make it through.

Vince Russo was all but gone from WCW at this point, but the stench remained. Ric Flair looked dead inside as he limped along as the "CEO of WCW," "Above Average" Mike Sanders was ALSO an authority figure as the Commissioner, and no one cared. Almost every match on this card felt like it should have been held on a Nitro or Thunder. Kevin Nash & DDP were teaming up as the Minimal Effort Given Squad to take on Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak for the WCW Tag Titles in another jumbled whatever of a match. The big, built-up, Straight Jacket Caged Heat main event between Booker T and Scott Steiner for the World Title even felt lacking. But don't worry. Makes a lot of sense that we go super juvenile for this week's episode. Death of WCW is always, well something, and Mayhem 2000 was certainly an example of some bad pro wrestling. 12 matches, none particularly memorable, tons of outside interference that overshadowed the matches, and will someone PLEASE get us more Lance Storm. Can you believe it!!! GSTS is back... Finally... And this time, we sit down, watch, and review WCW Mayhem '99. Why?Who knows... Cause we don't. Listen, Rate, and Review!!!
A tournament of 32 has dwindled down to 4 to claim the vacant WCW World Heavyweight Title. It's Toronto, Canada! The first ever WCW pay-per-view to emanate from North of the Border, and it's a 12-match slug fest centered around the Chris Benoit vs. Jeff Jarrett and Sting vs. Bret Hart to crown a new World Champion. Other "marquee" match-ups include Sid vs. Goldberg in an I Quit match and Kimberly vs. David Flair. You read that right. That's a marquee match-up. So much to talk about.
