This was like visiting an old friend, albeit an old friend that'll shank you into the rough and screw you over every chance it gets. By today's standards, Hot Shots probably seems a little archaic. It's the classic 3-click system, the graphics are, well, PSOne graphics, and the gameplay can be brutally unforgiving. But look beyond that and what you have is the ground work for a series that so many people have fallen in love with over the years. I wouldn't necessarily say I prefer these to Mario Golf, but there's an argument for sure. My guest this week is the official referee of RTG, Mike The Ref. We both love sports games, and as such, both love Hot Shots Golf. We talk about how tough this game can be, how far the genre has come, and of course, the legendary Hot Shots multiplayer. And before we tee off, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks about Nintendo's consumer-unfriendly practices (which I agree with). Where do I stand on Canadian teams in the Stanley Cup Playoffs?? And yes, I address the new Ecco the Dolphin game. Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 old-school golf games: Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf, NES Open, and Kirby's Dream Course. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

With profits falling and first party game releases scarce, it seemed like PlayStation's positive commercial situation may have been softening. But Sony's newest financial report illustrates a rosy picture, with ballooning sales, impressive margins, and a brighter software-driven future that promises more of the brand's bread-and-butter: First party, single-player AAA fare. With a temporary PS5 price cut now instituted, rumors of Guerrilla's Horizon Online targeting a 2025 release date, and so on, it appears PlayStation may be back-on-track and off to the races. Other news this week includes even more confirmation that Xbox games will continue to migrate to PlayStation in greater numbers, a potential tease of a Sony event commemorating PSone's 30th anniversary, Amazon finally getting a Mass Effect TV show off the ground, and more. Then, we wrap up with listener inquiries. Have we started thinking about what our respective "Game of the Year" might be? How come Game of Thrones never got an adequate (or even great) video game rendition? Is it possible to play the "biggest" and "best" games on a budget? Can we all agree that Christmas trees shouldn't be put out until November at the earliest? Good news emanates from South Korea, where developer Shift Up announced that PS5-exclusive release Stellar Blade has surpassed a million copies sold. To the rational thinking person, this is obviously a great accomplishment for a niche and provocative release on a single platform, and yet there are know-nothings debating its success. Thus, we correct the incorrect while also talking about Stellar Blade's future, including DLC, a PC port, and -- ultimately! -- a sequel. Other news this week includes details for Concord's upcoming closed and open betas, the surprising return of Capcom zombie-killing classic Dead Rising, fresh PSone-era collections for the likes of Fear Effect and Fighting Force, percolating rumors about PlayStation 3 emulation finally coming to PS4 and PS5, and much more. As always, we wrap things up with inquiries from you, the audience. What do we think about a Guerrilla producer's desire to get Aloy in Smash Bros? Is poor media literacy stopping gaming from reaching its true potential? Which random PlayStation 2 games would we like to see ported to modern hardware? Text us and say hello!Happy New Year!  We're kicking off 2024 with a discussion on the BEST-SELLING video game console of all time, and it's not even close.  A few weeks back, Lou and I had a great conversation all about the original Sony Playstation, and this time around, we're talking about the all-around glow up that was the Playstation 2, along with my buddy Derek. This was a console that was near and dear to all three of us (and was in fact the first console that I purchased with my own money), so we start off going through some of the first games we owned, and then talk about some of the crazy accessories, including funky controllers, the infamous PS2 Network Adapter to play online and the multi-tap that allowed for up to 8 players at a time. We then dove into some listener feedback on their favorite PS2 games, and finally wrap things up with a look back at the Top 20 PS2 games of all time, from a sales perspective.  I couldn't think of a better way to kickstart the New Year, so kick back and enjoy!Support the Show. We've got merch!Check out the site for some awesome Gen 'S' swag :)

Text us and say hello! In the world of gaming consoles, before hyper-realistic graphics, but after charming 2-D pixel  graphics, there existed a charmingly ugly era of gaming in the mid 90s.  It was the start of 3-D graphics in video games, with the release of consoles like the Nintendo 64 (which we have discussed here on the podcast in a past episode), and console that is the focal point of today's episode; the Sony Playstation.  Lou and I kick off this week's episode by reflecting on the unique magic that was the Playstation, from it's iconic (and goosebump-inducing) startup sound to the vast amount of games you could try out on those amazing demo discs you got out of gaming magazines (or from your local Pizza Hut, if you were lucky).  We jump into some listener feedback, where we share some of your memories with this incredible system, including games like Spyro the Dragon, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, and of course, Twisted Metal.  We also go through the Top 10 Bestselling PS1 games of all time, and share our thoughts on them.  Do any of them hold up today?  Let's find out!  Pop in your memory card, kick back and enjoy this week's discussion on one of the best video game systems of the last 30  years!Support the Show. We've got merch!Check out the site for some awesome Gen 'S' swag :)

Patreon.com/RememberTheGame I'm a lifelong Mega Man fan, but I've only ever played the main series and the first 3 X games. I've always wanted to try some of the other iterations of the Blue Bomber, and finally fired one up for this week's episode. And while it controls like garage, Mega Man Legends is charming as all hell. I was worried about Mega Man's transition over to 3D, but I actually ended up enjoying this game quite a bit. I missed my robot masters weapons, stage select, weapon weaknesses and all the MM standards, but the voice acting, music, charming locations and cool story kinda made up for it. Those fucking controls, though... Captain N sponsored this episode about a year ago, and being the slow-ass that I am, I'm finally catching up. He swings by the show to explain why he likes Legends so much, and then I break down what I like, dislike, and fucking hate, about this weird little Mega Man game. And before we get legendary, I deliver another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if they're part of the problem after paying a pretty penny for an old, rare game. We catch up with Alyxa the kitsune about Metal Gear Solid for the PS One.Take it away, guys— SquidgeThe WT Lite series of episodes will be peppered in alongside the "standard" episodes, so keep an eye out for them. These episodes allow us to focus specifically on a specific game or series, and really focus on our guest's thoughts. And after a brief discussion on Metal Gear memes - nanomachines, son! - Squidge wanted to know about Alyxa the Kitsune:So, hi, my name is Alyxa.I am a voice actress. I haven't done a lot of voice acting stuff, though. In Portuguese, by the way. European Portuguese. Not in the thick of Brazilian Portuguese. I'm also a VTube streamer on twitch. I go by Alyxa the Kitsune - that's A-L-Y-X-A underscore T-H-E underscore K-I-T-S-U-N-E. Okay. I was trying to see if I had forgotten any letters. I did not.And I actually started streaming. My first stream was actually playing Metal Gear Solid. And it also created, like, this funny nickname among my followers, which is Glitter Fox.— AlyxaThere's So Much StoryFor his first question, Squidge wanted to know whether Alyxa was ready for the sheer amount of story involved in Metal Gear Solid.I was a bit, because my boyfriend played the games, like, way before I started playing them.I'm playing the whole series for the first time in my life. I've never previously played anything Metal Gear Solid related. I knew some memes, that's all I know. The extremely famous and extremely overused alert sound. But I will never forget that there was this one time when I was having a very anxious moment of thinking, "oh, well, is anything even worth it in life?" And my boyfriend is actually like, "there's this video game series that I really like, and this character actually says something like this," and I'm pretty sure he was talking about Metal Gear Solid Two. I'm pretty sure he was talking about Metal Gear Solid Two, now that I think about it. And just a few months ago, he decided to replay the whole series again. And I was like, "okay, but I really need to understand, why does he like Metal Gear Solid so much?" And so that's how I decided to play the games. So I was a bit ready for the amount of story and information that was going to be dumped on me. I was not ready for the extreme amount of information that was going to be dumped on me. Yeah, the lore is quite extensive, especially because when he was playing, I wasn't paying that much attention, so I couldn't really like I was picking this and that and that information over there, but really basically almost nothing. But then I started playing, I was like, "oh, that is a lot. That is a lot."— AlyxaWhose The Best On Shadow Moses? There are quite a lot of characters in Metal Gear Solid, and almost all of them interact with Snake whilst he is on Shadow Moses Island. So Squidge's question was: who is Alyxa's favourite character? You gave me, like, a week to think about this, and it's still hard to choose just one character. So imagine if this was, like, about the whole series and not just the first game. I would be like, "I don't know. I would need a month think, at the very least," because every single character has something that's I wouldn't say, like, lovable about them. Like, not all of them are lovable. I mean, you got [Revolver] Ocelot, for crying out loud....But everyone has something so interesting about them.Like, I love Mei Ling and all the Chinese sayings that she has that are also connected to things that we have to do and that we should do.I also love Sniper Wolf because I cried when Sniper Wolf died. I cried when she died, and I was not expecting that. I saw my boyfriend playing, like, the whole first game, and I was like, "okay, Sniper Wolf died." But when I played it, it hurts. Because when she was talking about her past and how she suffered, I'm like, "I was not ready for this. I was not."And then there's Otakon. He kind of sounds like the comic relief, which is also good, but I don't know, there's something so enduring about him.— AlyxaFull Show NotesCheck out the full show notes for the full list of Squidge's questions, some extra stuff, and some links to related things. What's your most memorable 'Snake' moment in Metal Gear Solid? As we continue our cruise through the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters here on KnockBack, we come to the enigma that is Final Fantasy III. Like Final Fantasy II, III never got a western release at the time it came to Famicom in 1990. But unlike II, which finally saw the light of day in the west late in the PSone era, we had to wait until 2006 to play Final Fantasy III in western markets, and we did so via a 3D remake on Nintendo DS with a sterile and boring aesthetic overshadowing an otherwise solid job-based title. Finally, though, we can experience it as intended, with chibi sprites and chiptunes, and we're glad we did. A prelude to beloved Final Fantasy IV -- not in story, but in substance -- Final Fantasy III is a worthy old-school JRPG, one we're pleased to present thoughts on today. What's even more exciting, though, is that we can now be unleashed on the truly amazing series entries to come... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

PUPDATES #17: How Understanding Dog Psychology Makes Dog Training More Successful

Doggy Dan Podcast Show

Using dog psychology requires a deep understanding that our dogs do not think like us. We love our dogs, and we want to communicate with them and know what they are thinking. But here's an important truth: dogs do NOT think like humans! dog psOne of the most common dog training and dog care mistakes is that we communicate and relate to our dogs using human psychology. Typically, we view them as young children. This is where everything goes wrong because using human psychology on our dogs can only lead to misunderstandings. By understanding dog psychology, you can help identify the reasons for certain dog behavior such as non-stop barking, running away episodes, and unexplained aggression. With dog psychology, you'll find solutions to their behavioral issues better because you finally get your dog. So how can you master dog psychology in communicating with and raising your dog? Read on to learn more! Key Takeaways: Dogs don't think like humans. And if you use human psychology to understand a dog, it can lead to misunderstandings. Your dog has an innate and natural behavior. These natural instincts are there to help dogs be safe and thrive. When you understand dog psychology and your dog's natural instincts in dog training, you can teach your dogs in a better way. LEARN DOG PSYCHOLOGY BETTER WITH THE DOG CALMING CODE™️ Table of Contents Using Dog Psychology to Understand Odd Dog Behavior: The Story of Zippy Dog Psychology: How to Know How Dogs Really Think Top 6 Unique Dog Behaviors Explained Through Dog Psychology Dog Psychology: Five Ways You Can Understand and Interpret Your Dog Better Using Dog Psychology and Dog's Natural Behavior to Improve Dog Training Conclusion: Dog Psychology is One of Your Biggest Tools in Dog Training!   Using Dog Psychology to Understand Odd Dog Behavior: The Story of Zippy My experience with Zippy is what stands out the most whenever I have to emphasize to dog owners how dog psychology benefits both them and their pets. (Watch the video below for Zippy's story)   Zippy's a lovely dog! You could say that she's an “almost-perfect” dog. She's very obedient, she comes when called, she's relaxed, and she's the best at potty training. But one day, Zippy began showing odd behavior: SHE WAS CONSTANTLY RUNNING AWAY FROM HOME! Despite putting up a fence, covering holes where Zippy typically goes through — Zippy would still find a way to run off. The story became more interesting when the owners said she would go to another house where a male dog lives. It only made sense when Zippy's lady-owner said “The same thing happened when I was pregnant last time.” I asked “Are you also pregnant now?” The lady said yes. I immediately knew why Zippy was running away. PUPPY COACH: TRAIN YOUR YOUNG DOGS THE RIGHT WAY WITH THIS TRUSTED PROGRAM! Zippy has always felt that she was the alpha of her “pack” and for her, bearing puppies should be HER role. To her, it was a travesty of justice that some other woman in the pack would be birthing a pup. So in true alpha female fashion, Zippy runs away to another home to build her own pack with another dog. At first, it was a surprising realization for owners. But I explained to them: you have to use dog psychology to really know how dogs think! Dog Psychology: How to Know How Your Dog Thinks Dog owner, it's important to understand the nature of your dog before you start training them. This effort includes knowing the psychology of dogs, honoring their natural state, and respecting how THEY see the world. You should acknowledge how your dog sees the world BEFORE you impose your human interpretation. Only by doing so can you make a real relationship with your dog built on trust and understanding. Here is some basic info to remember when it comes to learning how dogs think. UNDERSTAND DOG PSYCHOLOGY SO YOU CAN TRAIN BETTER. START WITH THE DOG CALMING CODE. #1: Dogs Act on Instinct and What's Natural to Them Dog behavior such as barking, or aggression, or even restlessness can be attributed to a dog's instinctual reactions, NOT just because they're acting up. Same with other animals, dogs have natural instincts that are there to help them survive. A dog's instinctive behavior is passed down through genetics and is usually a result of what their breed is genetically-engineered to do. Even as domesticated breeds, dogs will naturally engage in various activities such as hunting, digging holes, shepherding, and barking, all of which serve a purpose and remain part of their inherent behavior. Let's take a look at some examples. Dogs pee everywhere because that's what they feel is natural; when they feel the need to pee, they will pee. Our dogs are also very protective. When a dog feels that they are the “pack leader,” their instinct to protect heightens. Barking — one of the dog behaviors that can really get on the nerves of dog owners — is one of the signs that a dog is fierce in protecting the household. In Zippy's story, she wasn't running away just because she wants to give her owners a hard time — she was doing what was natural for an alpha female. TRAIN YOUR PUPPIES WITH THE BEST FOUNDATION. START WITH THE PUPPY COACH. Can you imagine how frustrating it would be for you and your dog if you interpreted everything through the lens of human psychology? #2: Some Dog Breeds Are Predisposed To Do Things Differently Than Others Dog instinct is part of a dog's innate behavior — it's built into them. Some breeds — despite being domesticated — have it in them to exhibit unique behavior. For example, beagles tend to run around a lot because they were previously used for hunting rabbits. Greyhounds are hunters, so they can still show signs of this through their high-speed running. Border Collies love shepherding because that's what they are predisposed to do. #3: Dogs Don't Speak Our Language But There Are Ways That Can Help Them Understand Us “Doggy Dan, I've been telling my dog over and over again to do this. But they just don't get it!” Here's an important fact: dogs don't speak English. They don't speak the language of humans. HOWEVER, dogs can interpret what you are trying to say through assessing your body language, the tone in your voice, and association with rewards and punishments. LEARN HOW YOUR DOGS THINK WITH THE DOG CALMING CODE! In my program the Dog Calming Code™️, dog owners will find ways how to command behavior or communicate something to their pets using a strategy that dogs will understand. Why am I keen on making sure dogs and dog owners get each other? Because when you take misunderstandings out of a pet-owner relationship, both the training and relationship improves. Top 6 Unique Dog Behaviors Explained Through Dog Psychology Through learning dog psychology, dog owners can feel less frustrated, and smarter in addressing dog behavior issues. To our human eyes, some of these behaviors can appear as odd, weird, or not making sense. However, the natural instincts that cause odd dog behavior serve a purpose: to protect, feed, and keep them alive. Like what I mentioned above, dogs act on what's natural and instinctual to them. Let's take a look at six unique dog behaviors through the eyes of our dogs. Behavior #1: Why Do Dogs Dig Holes? Ah, digging! It's an age-old habit that's deeply ingrained in dogs. Why do dogs dig holes? In the wild, dogs used to dig to create safe and comfortable dens for themselves or to hide food from potential scavengers. Even though they might have cushy beds now, the urge to dig is just too hard to resist sometimes. CLICK HERE: THE DOG TRAINING PROGRAM THOUSANDS OF DOG OWNERS TRUST! Behavior #2: Why Do Dogs Bark? Barking is their way of communicating with the world. Dogs may bark to alert humans of potential threats, to express excitement or anxiety, or simply because they heard something intriguing. Sometimes, your dog just wants to get your attention and make sure you know they're there and ready for some fun! Behavior #3: Why Are Dogs So Protective of Food? Food is precious to dogs, just like it is to most living beings. Dogs need food to survive, so food is like GOLD to them! All a dog needs to feel rich is to have a full tummy. It is EVERYTHING to them. In the wild, resources can be scarce, so dogs learned to guard their food to ensure their survival. Even though their bowls are filled regularly now, that instinct to protect what's theirs still remains. In one of the Golden Rules of my online program, the Dog Calming Code, I teach that dogs who hide their food also feel that they're in control of the food. It's one of their ways to assert leadership. LEARN WHAT AFFECTS DOG BEHAVIOR WITH THE DOG CALMING CODE™️ Behavior #4: Why Do Dogs Bury Toys and Food? It might seem odd to you, but it stems from a dog's ancestry. In the wild, dogs used to bury excess food to keep it safe for later. It's like a built-in pantry for the future. Even though they no longer need to store food this way, old habits die hard! They will bury their bones, rawhide and pigs ears, then dig it up whenever they want — often to express their leadership in front of others in the family. Similar to hiding food, dogs who control the toys are also displaying their household leadership. By displaying YOUR slipper or the dog's favorite toy in front of you, in THEIR possession, it shows you they have a firm grasp of who's in charge…and it's NOT you! Behavior #5: Carrying Things You might have noticed how dogs love carrying random objects around, like your shoes, socks, or toys. It's a throwback to their ancestors, who would carry prey or other items in their mouths. To dogs, it's like a game and a way to bond with you — after all, sharing experiences is what companionship is all about. Behavior #6: Licking Licking is one of the versatile behaviors in dogs. It's how they groom themselves and show affection to both humans and other dogs. In the wild, licking also played a role in social bonding among pack members. So, next time your dog gives you a good lick, know that it's their way of saying "you're part of our pack!" As you observe these behaviors, remember that they are rooted in evolutionary history. While dogs have become beloved companions in your homes, the instincts of their wild ancestors still run through their veins. Embracing these unique behaviors with understanding and patience will make their bond with you even stronger. INFLUENCE DOG BEHAVIOR FOR THE BETTER WITH THE DOG CALMING CODE Dog Psychology: Eight Ways You Can Understand and Interpret Your Dog Better Familiarizing with dog psychology and how dogs think requires conscious effort on our part. It's going to be hard, but it will significantly change how you see your dog and how you train them. Here are some ways you can get your dog better. Tip #1: Observe Their Body Language Dogs communicate mostly through body language. Pay close attention to their tail, ears, eyes, and overall posture to gauge their emotions and intentions. By understanding their non-verbal cues, you can respond appropriately and strengthen your connection. Tip #2: Search About Their Breed to Understand Dog Psychology Better Dogs are not created equal, and some breeds are unique than the rest! Researching your dog's breed traits and history provides valuable insights into their natural instincts and behaviors. Each breed has unique characteristics, and understanding them will help you tailor your training approach to suit their needs. Tip #3: Lead with Gentleness Dogs can't operate well when there's fear. When dogs can't show their true nature to you, it will be more difficult to know how to train them better. Training should be a positive experience for both you and your dog. Approach it with gentleness, patience, and kindness. Avoid using harsh methods, as they can cause fear and hinder the learning process. Positive reinforcement encourages better results. IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO LEARN DOG PSYCHOLOGY. START NOW WITH THE DOG CALMING CODE. Tip #4: Be the Pack Leader Dogs are instinctively pack animals and look for a confident leader. Establish yourself as the pack leader by setting clear boundaries and rules. A consistent and confident approach helps your dog feel secure and more willing to follow your guidance. When they see you as a pack leader, they can connect with you better because they trust you. And when your relationship is that of trust and understanding, you'll start to see why your dog behaves the way they do. My program, the Dog Calming Code, can help you make this happen! Tip #5: Be Consistent Be consistent with your commands and routine. It is in consistency that certain behaviors that tell something about your dog stand out. Tip #6: Use Timeouts and Positive Reinforcements When your dog displays unwanted behavior, consider using timeouts to redirect their attention. At the same time, reinforce good behavior with positive rewards like treats, praise, or affection. This encourages your dog to repeat positive actions and learn from their mistakes. Tip #7: Take Time and Be Patient Remember that being a master of dog psychology is a gradual process that requires time and patience. Every dog learns at their own pace. Celebrate small successes and stay patient throughout the training journey. Being patient and understanding helps build trust and confidence in your dog. Tip #8: Get Dog Training Help An amazing shortcut to understanding dogs better is getting guidance from professional dog trainers! HOW TO DEAL WITH PUPPY BEHAVIOR. GET GUIDANCE FROM THE PUPPY COACH PROGRAM! In my online dog training program, the Dog Calming Code, I offer strategies that help dog owners connect to their pets better through communication strategies that dogs easily get! Using Dog Psychology and Dog's Natural Behavior to Improve Dog Training One of the biggest frustrations in dog training comes from wanting to change our dog completely. But here's a beautiful fact: you can actually use your dog's natural behaviors to your training advantage. In dog training, tapping into dog psychology, embracing their innate behaviors, and getting in tuned with how dogs think can unlock the key to effective and harmonious training methods. Instead of attempting to reshape a dog entirely, aligning training techniques with their natural instincts proves immensely beneficial. Here are some ways how understanding dog psychology and their natural instincts can help in dog training. #1: Through Dog Psychology, You Build Understanding and Trust Which Are Important to Dog Training By understanding and respecting their unique behaviors, we create a bridge of communication that fosters a deeper connection. This approach empowers both the dog and the owner, paving the way for successful training experiences based on trust and mutual understanding. DOG CALMING CODE: THE PROGRAM FOR CORRECTING DOG BEHAVIOR! #2: With the Help of Dog Psychology, You Will Know How to Teach Your Dog Best With dog psychology, you'll learn how to teach your dog in a fascinating way. By understanding their instincts and behavior, you'll tailor your training methods effectively. This helps you communicate with them better, creating a strong bond based on trust. Armed with this knowledge, you'll find the best approaches to guide your furry companion's learning and growth, forming a lifelong connection. #3: You'll Find the Best Ways For Mental and Physical Stimulation If your dog is not that enthusiastic with the games and exercises you have prepared for, don't fret. Your dog might not be a runner or a walker, and they might prefer another activity for physical and mental stimulation. By knowing dog psychology and how dog's instinct works, you can come up with better activities that both you and your dog can enjoy. #4: You'll Train With Love and Understanding By comprehending their emotions and innate communication signals, you can adapt your training methods to resonate with their unique perspective. Replacing harsh discipline with positive reinforcement and patience fosters a bond built on love and trust. This mutual understanding creates a safe environment where your dog feels secure, motivated, and eager to learn. With each training session, your connection deepens, resulting in a well-behaved and emotionally fulfilled companion that brings immeasurable joy to your life. KNOW HOW YOUR PUPPY THINKS WITH THE PUPPY COACH PROGRAM! Conclusion: Dog Psychology is One of Your Biggest Tools in Dog Training! When you really know how your dog thinks, you save yourself from the frustration of feeling like no training ever works! Yes — you even save yourself from using training strategies that are not compatible with your beloved pet. When you apply dog psychology to dog training, it just clicks on you what's best for your dog. You begin communicating in a way that your dog understands. Your relationship begins to shift from exhaustion, to one that actually brings joy. I can't stress this enough: understanding dog psychology is one of the biggest factors that make dog training successful. A true, clear, and deep understand your dog is as important as any training technicalities. When you get them, your dog will absolutely thank you.   ~ Doggy Dan

Our meandering through the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters continues with Final Fantasy II, widely considered the 'black sheep' of the traditional series. But a lot of that hinges on perception, or lack thereof. See, Final Fantasy II took forever to come to the west -- it came to Famicom in 1988 but never migrated outside of Japan until it launched on PSone in 2003 -- so the reality is, a lot of people don't have any experience with it at all. And those that do have played it in sometimes less-than-ideal circumstances, though there are some good ports and reworkings on GBA (2004) and PSP (2007) to note. This episode of KnockBack, not surprisingly, is dedicated to the beleaguered II, the odd-man-out of classic Final Fantasy. With a differentiated experience system, an easily-broken economy, and actual characters and story, it's certainly a tale of ups and downs. Learn more about your ad choices. I also don't love the JRPG genre as a whole. That said, I might not have loved this game, but I see why so many do. I think I give it the "tough but fair" treatment, and while the cons didn't sit all that well with me, there's some definite pros here, too.   My buddy Keegs DID grow up playing this one, and he's a pretty big fan. We spent over an hour talking about the funky combat, the awesome soundtrack, the weird-ass story, and everything in between.   And before we fuck up another one of Albert's additions, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? While in a hard season right now there's 2 phrases I keep coming back to. One question, and one statement. They're my mantras, my guides, and goodness are they blessing me. If you're going through something hard right now it can feel complicated to find words of wisdom that really ring true. Don't feel trite, don't fall apart upon further scrutiny and application. Yes. And… sometimes it's the simplest phrases that hold the most impact because we truly remember them. Listen in to see if they serve you as much as they are me. (PS One of them is from Tom Hanks. Though to be fair it's also the wisdom inside a book I'm loving right now. Once you hear good truth, you often start to hear it more places!) And Alundra is a prime example of that. It's an action RPG from the original PlayStation (incredibly influenced by The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past) and after spending about 40 hours of my life with it, I can safely say this was a diamond in the rough that I skipped over.    If you've never played it before, you play as, well, Alundra. You're on a ship that crashes on a beach and you tackle dungeons to track down 7 crests to save the world with your sword and magical items and...look, I know it sounds a lot like Zelda, and it is. But give it a chance. There's a focus on puzzles, a better story than just about anything Link has ever done, it looks gorgeous, and you can freaking JUMP!   Long-time hot dog and Alundra fan Timmy The Exuberant Turtle sponsored this episode, and he swung by to tell me why he likes this game so much (along with sharing the phenomenal origin of his online handle), and then I hogged the mic for a while and explained what I liked, loved, and hated about the superb PSOne classic, Alundra.    And before we invade some dreams, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'!   This week, we get into dealing with that problem every gamer has where you're excited to play games, but can't decide what to play! Hello my fellow music-lover.  Good to be back with you again after a too-long absence.  Life has had too much on my plate and I've not had lots of extra time to create a set...until now.  Just in time, right?  Spring is in the air.  The sun is out.  The air is warm.  The birds are chirping.  And here's new music to match the season. I'm always excited about releasing a new music project.  But I'm particularly excited about this set.  Maybe it's because it's been a few months since I've created a set.  I do have a good story to accompany the mix.  I was actually going to release this a week ago -- but I was having reservations about a couple of the songs on the mix.  First, I wasn't really *feeling* the opening song and I'm a huge believer that the opening song is possibly the most important song of the mix (if there is one?) as it sets the stage for what's to come.  Just as I know from the first note if I like a song or not...I believe that YOU should know from the first note of my set whether you are going to like the journey (or not).  There was also another song or two later in the mix that didn't quite gel with the rest of them. So....I held off and didn't push the mix out.  Fast forward to yesterday morning and I was on a call with my friend Michael Rackley and...as we always do...we started talking about music.  We're DJs.  What else are we supposed to talk about? ;-)  He asked me if I had heard the new Galantis acoustic mix of Becky Hill's "Run".  I hadn't!  He the asked if I had heard Gryffin's new collaboration with OneRepublic "You Were Loved".  I hadn't heard that either.  Well, there you go.  There's your first two songs on the set.  Thank you Michael for solving the problem of what to open my set with.  It's a big and powerful heart-tugging acoustic anthem and I hope that you love it as much as I (WE) do.  From there I weave my way through my signature deep house soothers that segue into uplifting vocal anthems that again segue into driving spine-chilling instrumental masterpieces.  They segues are subtle;  you will hardly notice as I push the energy and intensity higher.  If you're a Flagger...your Flags are going to end up in whipped excitement.  If you're a Dancer....your hands will reach for the sky.  Eyes closed.  Hands high.  As always this music project is an act of LOVE.  Every note, tone and word you hear is rooted in Love.  From my heart...to your ears...ENJOY. PS:  One of you turned me on to the third song "Starlit Afternoon" by Craig Strickland and I can't remember which one of you did.  THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for doing so.  I'm in love with it and it's on constant rotation with me.  AMAZING. #/Artist/Title/Remix01.  Becky Hill/Run/Galantis Acoustic02.  OneRepublic/You Were Loved/Gryffin Original03.  Craig Strickland/Starlit Afternoon04.  Nathan Nicholson/Saint Louis/Original Mix05.  Christian Burns/Tigers/LIVA Extended Mix06.  Moby/Almost Home/Sebastien Remix07.  Linney/Lullaby/Le Youth Extended Mix08.  Linney/Stay With Me/AVIRA Extended Mix09.  Sam Gray/Wild Feelings/Extended Mix10.  Brandon Mignacca/Searchlight/Elypsis Extended11.  ARTY/So Good To Me/Extended Mix12.  RBBTS/Lighthouse/Le Youth Extended Mix13.  Magnus/Heaven/Extended Mix14.  Nora En Pure/Tribe Of Kindness/Extended Mix15.  Chicane/Sunstroke/Disco Citizens Evolution MixFOR WORLDWIDE DJ BOOKING INFORMATION:Phone:  615-418-8900Email:  IAMBRIANNORWOOD@GMAIL.COMInsta:  DJ Brian NorwoodFacebook:  Brian Norwood

JJJ and ET have some compelling and surprising answers to this on the latest episode of Oh God It Hz!https://linktr.ee/ohgodithzwww.RuminationsRadioNetwork.comwww.instagram.com/RuminationsRadioNetworkTwitter: RuminationsRadioNetwork@RuminationsNMusic and Production by Mitch Proctor for Area 42 Studios and SoundAudio Engineered by Dean Delp for Area 42 Studios and Sound https://twitter.com/DeanDelpVOhttps://www.patreon.com/RuminationsRadio★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

PlayStation Plus is being rebranded this summer with an essential merging of the existing Plus service with PlayStation Now. This is being done as an answer (but not necessarily a competitor) to Xbox Game Pass. PSOne titles were being expired on PS3 and Vita coincidentally with the launch of Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, but we hypothesized that it was a mistake and not "random" as some people have claimed. A random tangent on that story was around how UNIX handles time and what's going to happen in January of 2038. Gamestop has cancelled all preorders of the Intellivision Amico, which is sadly another nail in the coffin of the troubled console. Then we talk about the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer and the Chrono Cross remaster.

As long-rumored, PlayStation Plus is receiving its first major refresh since the subscription service launched in 2010. Beginning in June, the PS+ will split into three, with its base form being the PS+ we're all familiar with. Atop that will be two more tiers, however, giving players access to hundreds of PSone, PS2, PS3, and PSP games, and more. But there are, of course, many catches. We spend a great deal of time delving into the ins-and-outs of PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium, and deliver the rest of the week's news, too, including information on April's free PS+ games, details surrounding a possible Knack revival, Gran Turismo 7's ongoing microtransaction saga, Firesprites trio of in-development games, and more. We also focus-in on our experiences with Ghostwire: Tokyo on PS5, which we like a lot. Then: Listener inquiries! Has Elden Ring permanently altered players' expectations for open worlds? How useful are spoilercasts to our audience? What license should get the Hogwarts Legacy treatment? Can we help one listener find love at work? Learn more about your ad choices.
