I want you to start this week off by smiling every chance you get Greetings and welcome back to mental snacks with Claiborne Jackson, where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational traumas. TGIM. it's a common phrase that you probably hear a lot, but thank God it's Monday. Yes, thank God it's Monday. And what I want you to do is I want you to start this week off by smiling every chance you get. From the time you wake up to the time you put your head down and go to sleep. I want you to smile every chance that you get. Now, not because life has been easy, perfect, or anywhere near what you've expected, but, because you're choosing to be happy and grateful for all the positive things that you do have going on in your life and for all the problems that you don't have. I want you to smile because you don't know who's going through a rough time, who's going through a real rough time in their life. And by seeing a big smile on your face, that might encourage them to smile, even if it's just for a few seconds. It might be a few minutes. It might last an hour. Heck, it might last the whole day. But I want you to smile because that person, for that amount of time, will at least feel that much better about their situation. Now, I also want you to smile because it is Monday. Yeah, I know, but. Yes, it is Monday. And the fact that you woke up to see this Monday is already a reason to smile. But along with that, I also want you to smile because for every new week is another opportunity for you to exercise your greatness. Can you dig what I'm saying? Every new week? Really? Every new day. But every new Monday is a new chance for a new week for you to exercise your greatness. You dig? It's your boy, Claiborne Jackson. Mental snacks. Like, comment, share, subscribe See, I'm feeling kind of rhythmic, right? Anyhow, though, like, comment, share, subscribe glad I can make your day, be part of your day. Welcome back to mental snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. Let's talk about addiction. what is one of t The biggest addiction people have and probably don't even know they have an addiction to it. It is talking a about their problems and not focusing enough on their joy. To me it seems that the more you focus on your problems, the more problems you will ultimately have. Imagine if you took all of the energy you pour into your problems and poured it into a positive activity or better yet towards finding a solution to your probmels. Your stress would decrease, and your energy would increase. You would attract more like mined people and together keep pushing for solutions and positive energy. So lets focus on breaking the habit of talking about our problems and focus more on the joys of life. Here is one joy that you can start with and that is the fact that you woke up this morning and you are able to log onto a device to even hear my podcast and others.. Now just continue building off that. One more tip is that when you feel the urge to talk about your problem just start counting. Count until you wonder why you are counting. Chances are if you forgot why you are counting, then you probably forgot about the problem you were going to focus on. Just sayin. Try this for the week and let me know how it works for you.. if the first week was great keep it going. It takes about 30 days to start forming a habit while breaking a bad one... good luck, positive vibes and talk loudly about your joys in life --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/claiborne-jackson0/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/claiborne-jackson0/support

Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson, where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. Mental Snack of the Day… Check your mindset at least twice as often as you check your phone or any other device that might alter your mood. For instance, if you were in a funky mood and searched for things that matched. Well, now your phone's algorithm is set to that same mood. so, the next time you pick up your phone you might be in a good or decent mood but boom, you check your phone and negative energy takes over and before you know it your mindset is completely screwed up I do not check my phone when I first wake up. At least not for the first hour. My son has a specific ring tone that overrides my airplane mode so if and only if I hear his specific alert will I get up and check my phone. Other than that, I enjoy some good ol me time. I don't need to be involved with all the world's issues. A friend of mine at work said there are times when she has been in a good mood, jumped on social media, and felt completely drained after a few minutes from all the negativity. Now I'm not saying to avoid your phone or social media, but what I am saying is to protect your mental health by any and all means. so again. Check your mindset more than you check your phone. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson, where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. If I have to believe in something, why not believe in me? The question I have asked myself numerous times. Well, I finally answered and went all in and believed in myself to the fullest and the results have been amazing. About 4 months ago I enrolled myself in a course with the College for Financial Planning. This course is something that will help me with my current job and the designation can potentially come with a 20% or more increase in pay. Now the catch is my job would cover it but of course with a reimbursement program or your manager could cover it upfront. Take a listen as I take you on this wonderful meaningful journey. This is a huge accomplisment. Below are some techniques i used to lead to a successful out come some new techniques to help me regain focus and shake the negative self-talk. Every time a negative thought would enter my head, I would begin counting. I would count until that thought was gone so it could be from 1 to 200.. depending on the moment. I took more breaks. In the beginning, I was trying to force myself to read a full chapter before taking a break and that was not working out for me at all.. I would doze off and end up reading the same page over and over with no understanding of what I read. I would get up and go outside and either walk or run. Just to get my blood flowing Heck a few times I stopped and baked a cake or cookies( for those that don't know, baking is my favorite way to relax Reset, restart, and refocus as many times as needed. I'd look at my mom's pictures and remember how she raised 4 kids while putting herself through nursing school and be like Man you can't quit on her or you dang it. Maybe some of these tips above and this whole story will inspire you to get after your goals and not wait for help from others. if you want it go get it. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson, where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. So today I got up and realized that I have been making all kinds of excuses as to why I did not want to try and run on my knee which has been giving me problems for a month and some change. Part of me realizing that I was making excuses was how weak my knee had become. I could hardly stand on it and putting pressure on it was crazy but then it hit me. My knee was getting weaker because I was not using it. All the excuses I had were only making my knee weak and by me saying I'm giving it time to heal, I was really giving it time to get worse. So I ended up having a great run and my knee actually feels much better. Excuses as easy as they are to make, will cause a huge setback ya dig. So I am encouraging you to write down a list of your favorite excuses and then throw them away for good. Get up and get after your goals ya dig. https://solo.to/mentalsnacks --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/claiborne-jackson0/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/claiborne-jackson0/support

Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson, where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. Removing yourself from a being around negative energy instead of returning that same energy is growth. As we get older hopefully we are also maturing and part of maturing is not returning negative energy when given negative energy. It took many years for me to reach this point in life but boy am I glad I am finally at this point in life ya dig. Like in traffic for instance, my thing has been to not hunk at people after they make the mistake or just choose to be unkind and cut me off or disturb my drive in any way possible. I now just sit back and wave or smile but I don't return that same energy. I tell you this much, my drives have been much more pleasant too lol Take a listen and pick up some of these positive vibes. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. So I was listening to a motivational speach by TD jakes and he said “ ships don't sink from the water that is around them, they sink once that water gets into them. Its not what's going on around you that causing you the problems and what your allowing to get inside of you that's causing the problem. See I take that to mean that no matter what is going on around you, its up to you what you allow to get in your mind and body. That's why setting boundaries is so important. Have you ever been having a great day just enjoying life but then you lower the setting on your boundaries and allow some negativity in? It could be a phone call, it could be from going on social media but by some means you get caught up in a high tide and next thing you know water is in your boat and you start to feel yourself sinking. Well I know I have and I have learned from it. I now do whatever is necessary for me to stay at float. Even if it upsets other people but your problem is not my problem as harsh as it may sound. I will try and listen and help keep you at float but if you keep turning your boat back to the high tide well you will sink on your own. .. I say that to say this. don't be afraid to set boundaries. Remember your boat doesn't sink from the water that surrounds it, boats only sink when once that water gets inside. This is Claiborne Jackson mental snacks. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. It's been 5 year since my mom passed away. On the exact day this year I was able to take the pain I felt and redirect that energy into completely a 5k and 10k in Vegas. For those that don't think that therapy helps, please take a listen. Maybe this will inspire you to give therapy one more chance. Therapy truly saved my life. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. just a friendly reminder that mental health is not something you can see. Never assume that just because somebody is smiling and or always laughing that they are not mentally and physically tired. When i was at my lowest a lot of people thought i was perfectly fine because i would put on a mask with a big smiley face , but as soon as I was alone that mask would come off and the mental pain and suffering would begin. I ask that you just be kind to others. Your kindness ,Your smile and sincere greeting ,could not only be a life changer it could also be a life saver . Think about that. Thank you for your support. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. sI was talking with a random person the other day and he asked me “ hows life treating you” my response was from a book i recently read call who says you cant? You do.. as I responded saying the question is not hows life treating me but how am I treating life? He looked a lil puzzled but then was like you know thats a good question. See a lot of times we will say oh life is treating me so unfair when we have financial setbacks health setbacks friend and family issues and so on. But have you really taken a step back and asked yourself “how am I treating this life of mine? Am I making bad financial decisions like buying large ticket items or planning trips before i pay my bills What am i putting in my body that is contributing to being overweight or causing me to have medical issue Am i taking the proper steps to maintain my mental health and if not, what boundaries do i need to set in order for me to maintain a healthy mind state See we cant just expect life to treat us great and be fair if we are not doing things to enhance our life. Take some time out of the day and really ask yourself how are you treating your life? If you are happy where you are , well then dont change a thing but trust we can all make some changes in regards to improving our lifestyle. Trust one small changed can make a world of difference in how you treat your life and in return how life treats you Thank you for your support. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. Your day is pretty much formed by how you spend your first hour of being awake. When I was struggling in survival mode my first hour was split something like this 15 minutes of laying in bed mad because the alarm went off Followed by 15 minutes of sitting on the edge of my bed saying" there's gotta be a better way. Followed by 15 to 30minutes of conversations within debating on calling out or giving up all together and the last 15 were spent in the car convensing myself to drive to work. That was survival mode. But now I'm thrive mode it's roughly 15 minutes of stretching, yoga or meditation 15 to 30 mins of motivational videos 15 minutes of Journaling And boom my morning is off to a great start which generally leads to a great day. Which leads to my second hour which is either out the door for a run or to the gym. Take control of your day by spending your first our of being awake on selfcare. As a I kid often wondered why my mom would be up before all of us and sippin coffe in low lighting. Although i was not sure why she was doing, i knew for damn sure not to bother her at that very moment. It took me becoming a healed adult to finally get it and understand it. First hour is for self and none else ya dig. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/claiborne-jackson0/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/claiborne-jackson0/support
Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson, where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. Today, let's talk about setting boundaries when it comes to talking about work when we are not at work Rather, you love your job, or your job is keeping you just over broke. Once you clock out or log off, you have to disconnect yourself from your work day. Most jobs are 8 hours a day but if you count the time you spend in the morning getting ready mentally and physically and then the amount of time you spend talking about issues at work with somebody that does not work there and cant help with the issues you are having and before you know it, you have spent about 10 to 12 hours out of your day focused on your job. Please understand, you are not getting paid for worrying off the clock, your job has many people that can and will do your job rather you are there or not and if something at your job is bothering you, be direct with that person and try to find a resolution that will bring you peace so you dont have too talk or worry about your job when. you are off. For me personally, my job is very stressful.its a call center environment that involves a lot of patients and problem solving. When i am off, i am off.. just like your employer says “leave your problems at home” Well, when i log out, i leave my work issues at work. Take a liste. I have a few tips for you to help you leave your work at work and enjoy your time off Thank you for your support. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. You can't control how others receive your energy Are you that person that walks into the office first thing in the morning smiling , full of energy and greeting everybody with GOOD MORING? And instead of good morning back, you get the grumbles, the half acknowledge hello or told you are to energetic and its to early for all that. Well understand you can't control how others receive your energy. See anything you say or do is being filtered through the lens of that person and whatever personal stuff they have going on at that moment. They could have had a ruff morning getting the kids out for school, car problems, other family issues or maybe just not satisfied with the current job. But just know its not about you. Don't take it personal and don't let that shut down you down and have you vibrating on a Lower frequency in order to match theirs. You just keep doing your thing with as much integrity and love as possible and keep your vibrations on high.. Remember you can't control how others receive your energy but you sure can control your own energy level and keep it on the highest setting of all.. This claiborne Jackson, mental snacks . Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson. I had the pleasure of sitting down with my brotha Darren Estrella and talk. I asked him "how are you?" and he opened up to discuss his mental health journey, frustrations with trying to find a therapist with will really sit down and talk with him and not read him some text and send him on his way. We also talked about his health and how just saying " good morning" can really change a persons day. Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. Don't match somebody else vibration unless they are as high as your own vibrations or higher. But if somebody is vibrating on a low frequency, do not go low to meet them. Turn your vibrations up a little higher so they can feel it and feed off your levels. You never know how your high vibes could totally change someone else's day. Have you ever smiled at a person you didn't know as you past one another and said hey how are you doing or have a good day and then that person stops you and thanks you for asking? Next thing you know you and this person have a conversation for about 15 to 20 mins about life and how their day was going terrible and how you smiling and saying have a nice day completely turned it around. The world is very different now. Some people lost their closest friends or family during the pandemic and now they dont have somebody that will smile when they feel down or ask how they are doing and so when it does happens it means the world to them. Heck there are days where i might not vibe as high but i will still smile and say hi and sometimes that person is vibrating hella high and boom i feed off their vibe and now I'm on the level that i needed to be on. Its ok to be human again. Meaning that a lot of people have kinda gotten away from human interaction and it's almost like we are robots with no feeling. But its ok to be human again and smile at one another and ask how someone is doing. This is what the world needs right now. Lets all keep our vibrations high and keep pushing for the positive ya dig --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/claiborne-jackson0/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/claiborne-jackson0/support
Welcome back to Mental Snacks with Claiborne Jackson where you will find mindful discussions to assist with healing caused by generational trauma. If my life ever gets to the point where i don't have drama, confusion or beef with somebody, I will probably die” That was the 21 year old or maybe even the 25 year old me talking with my brotha outside of my moms house while leaning on a wall. At that time I had no ideal what really being at peace was. I had normalized all of my trauma and made it part of my culture. So at that time I truly felt that if any of those things stopped that I would not be able to function. I had normalized anger and aggression and used it a survival tool. I would sleep at night in sweat pants and a t shirt because I never knew when I would be called to action. And my ego, oh boy my ego was my biggest enemy but yet at that time it was my best friend. Me and my best friend wouldn't let anything slide or get past me or as we said back then get over on me But at the same time that ego also forced me to sit down a few times too. I am glad that many years later I am still here and able to reflect on my past to see how far I have come. I no longer have to use anger and aggression to survive . I now use non violent communication and understanding to resolve issues. My ego no longer forces me to feel that I have to be right and you have to do it my way or suffer the consequence. My ego is still my good Friend but the friend is now in check. I still sleep in sweats but not because I might get called to action, but just that its cold at night and I like to sleep on top of the covers. Which is a whole different issue lol. I had to break the habits I created when I was in survival mode in order for me to thrive. Those same habits that once helped me survive would now be the same habits that could possible cause my demise. I look at where I am in life now and I know my past self is so proud of me and is looking forward to the future. If you have overcome obstacles and shifted from survival mode to thrive mode. Just know that your past self is proud of you too. You might not be where you want to be but look at how far you have come in your journey of life.
