The past returns to haunt Kenton and Stella struggles professionally.
Yes! You are in! Have you been judged lately? This broken planet has gone bonkers on judging each other...super fueled by biased media and algorithims to feed you only one side of a story. Everyone is convinced they are correct. So how do you stand out? If you are so brave, here you go...Thank you Kenton Beshore, guest speaker at SW Church in Indian Wells, CA. Kenton is one of my favorite teachers. I so appreciate how God has wired him. He's edgy yet comes with the Word and Truth. Tough love. Makes his audience respond. Very interactive. You can hear more about that message at the YouTube link right here, in the show description...https://youtu.be/ZAiEf_uhMEg?si=3YbuSdQ1ReA7aR0NSo how about you? I know you are being judged too much. How about in return? How's your judging ratio?Confession, I can improve. My two weak points seem to be politics and the road. Matt 7: 1-61 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own? 4How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye? 5Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye.6 “Don't waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don't throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.Matt 7: 1-6, NLThttps://www.bible.com/bible/116/MAT.7.NLTOne of my favorite sayings, "We are all religious...in something(s)." That is a fact Jack and the truth Ruth. Some of you say religion is a crutch and I'll ask you back, what is your crutch? You don't get to say nothing...for it is something: love interest, money, sex, drugs, alcohol, politics, cars, boat, house, a movement, pick your topic du jour., free this or that change or no ______. We can see via your social media or just give me 10 minutes with you and I'll be able to tell real quick what is your religion. For with any hard core religious person comes...judgement! They will judge you...whether you be blue or red or purple. So when someone is coming down hard on you, simply say, ooooooh, religious. You are really religious with that. If you happen to call Christianity your religion, well are your Jesus' words in Matthew enough for you? They should be. Me too. I'm going to work on that...every day until the day I die. Matt 22: 36-40.
Jakob admits to Kate he was thrown by the idea of being a grandparent. It was the list of things Kate had planned for them to do with the baby that overwhelmed him – but it's all good now thanks to a nice chat with Brian. They agree Brian's a star. Jakob tells Kate he's set up a bank account to show his commitment to their grandchild. Kate's touched – until Jakob declares he won't be coming on the family holiday. Later Kate tells Lilian how disappointed she is. She reminds her aunt about Friday's holiday meeting and encourages her to read all the messages in the group chat.Chaos reigns at the Bull and Lilian pitches in, offering to run to the shop to fill a gap in a missing wholesale order. Joy scoops up the list of items and she and Lilian set to work. Jim comes and can't believe how much new stock there is on the shelves. How can they afford it? Joy explains Susan was worried about losing customers, assuring Jim the gamble's paying off so far. After the lunch rush Jolene and Kenton are relieved to have got through it all, and normal service is resumed. They're thankful for the village shop. Sceptical Jim is won over as Lilian insists lunches at the Bull would have been cancelled today if it hadn't been for the well stocked shop. When there's a late request for a cricket tea on Sunday, Joy steps up and offers to lend a hand. Lilian declares she's saved the Bull yet again.

Defensive Back Kenton Dopson III of Miami Norland talks about his craft at Defensive back and also liking to play wide reciever as well
Fallon feels bad to be leaving the busy Bull to spend time with Harrison. Jolene assures her they'll be fine. She hints at knowledge of the birthday surprise Harrison has in store for Fallon. Later Jolene's shocked to learn their new staff member can't work while Fallon's away. Kenton suggests asking Fallon to stay but Jolene won't hear of it. Fallon and Harrison need the time together; absence doesn't always make the heart grow fonder and she doesn't want their relationship to go the wrong way. Brian's enjoys a pub lunch date with Miranda. As they get their drinks Miranda's surprised to hear from Kenton that Brian was in the pub last night too. Brian hurriedly moves the conversation on. As he declares brightly that he'd love Miranda to join them on their family holiday, she wrongfoots him by announcing their relationship might have run its course. Brian's shocked – he thought things were going marvellously. Miranda counters that unlike Jennifer she won't put up with his shenanigans – he'd told her he was at home with a book last night and clearly he wasn't. And Jolene saw him with a woman. Cornered, Brian confesses he's been having secret bridge lessons with Martyn Gibson. When Miranda doesn't believe him, he suggests she call Martyn. She does so immediately and Brian's story checks out. Miranda apologises, but wants them to enter a bridge tournament. If they win, all will be well, but if there's no improvement in Brian's game, well… Brian quakes, and Miranda says he'd better hope Lady Luck's on his side.
Whilst at Everest Basecamp this year, Kenton recorded this episode with Mark Fisher and Erich Roepke who made arguably the most exciting Everest discovery of recent years when they found Andrew Cormyn (“Sandy”) Irvine's boot on the North Side of the mountain late last year. It was almost exactly 100 years since Irvine and Mallory went missing on their 1924 Everest expedition and whilst Mallory's remains were found in 1999, there has been no trace of Irvine… until now. Erich and Mark tell Kenton what led them to make this discovery and their subsequent actions. We're not going to give anything else away here - tune in to hear the whole story!

This week, Kenton sits down to talk to Jay Whiting at Everest Base Camp. Jay is not a professional climber or a professional athlete - he is a full-time solicitor in London - yet when this episode was recorded, he was preparing to take on an enormous Himalayan challenge. Jay talks to Kenton about his dreams of achieving the Everest Triple Crown this year - climbing Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse in one season. Only two people have ever done this to date - our host Kenton, and another professional mountaineer, Garrett Madison. Jay lives in Essex, which is not well-known for its mountainous terrain, and has spent hours and hours on a stair-master in training. Kenton's surprised David's now going ahead with Open Farm Sunday. David explains he doesn't feel he should cancel so he's putting increased security in place. Lilian's late for a pub shift and Kenton's reluctant to push it as her mood's so low at the moment. David volunteers to jump behind the bar to help out. Lilian arrives but soon needs a break to regroup. With Justin out at a function, she insists she'd still rather be working than sitting alone at home.A customer approaches the bar and asks for Angela, but David misunderstands the signal and the woman goes and sits down again. Lilian spots the man she's sitting with is behaving aggressively towards her. It becomes clear David's made a mistake and missed the woman's coded request for help. Lilian's appalled at the error, and finds a subtle way of extricating the woman from the situation. Safely upstairs, the woman, Naomi, explains she'd been set up with this man by a friend, and whilst initially charming, her date became angry when she declined a second meet-up with him. Naomi's very grateful for Lilian swooping in like a fairy godmother to rescue her. After Naomi's gone, Lilian suggests refresher training for everyone who might be working in the bar. The incident has shaken her. She's frustrated too that the man got away with his bad behaviour and may well just carry on with it in the future. Kenton's worried about Lilian and checks in again with her; is she alright? Lilian admits she's not really, but there's nothing anyone can do.

If you like running, this week's episode is for you! Kenton sits down to talk to Hem Rana, a remarkable man who 'got the running bug' after going along to a park run six years ago and has since completed multiple ultras. Hem talks to Kenton about his childhood in Nepal and his application to join the Gurkhas. He remains a serving Gurkha today and has lived in the UK for 27 years working for a variety of Gurkha regiments attached to the British Army. Hem used to run only because he had to, for fitness tests and PT sessions, but in 2019 he tried his local park run (5km) and loved it. Out of curiosity, he gradually built up his distances, moved from road to trail, and developed his confidence. He tells Kenton that he has completed several 100 milers, the Winter Spine race (twice!), UTMB and the Bob Graham Round, to name a few. Hem truly believes that everyone is capable of doing what he has done. If you're looking for a bit of inspiration today, look no further!

This week: the many crises awaiting the next pope ‘Francis was a charismatic pope loved by most of the world's 1.4 billion Catholics' writes Damian Thompson in the cover article this week. But few of them ‘grasp the scale of the crisis in the Church… The next Vicar of Christ, liberal or conservative' faces ‘challenges that dwarf those that confronted any incoming pope in living memory'. Ahead of Pope Francis's funeral this weekend, Damian joined the podcast alongside the Catholic theologian Fr Alexander Lucie-Smith to unpack all the political intrigue underpinning the upcoming papal conclave. They say that he who enters the conclave as a pope, leaves as a cardinal – do we have any clues to who could emerge as Francis's successor? (1:01) Next: the ghastliness of AI ghouls The late Lily Parr – a chain-smoking, 6ft, Lancastrian, lesbian pre-war footballer – has been resurrected via an AI avatar. All fun and games at first glance but, as Mary Wakefield writes in the magazine this week, what the AI's creators have summoned is ‘a ghoul, a flimsy echo of Parr, infused with the spirit of Gen Z', lacking the original's character. Aside from the obvious issues, is this ethical, or even legal? Mary worries that overworked and underpaid teachers could soon deploy AI to summon the spirit of Churchill or Shakespeare. How concerned should we be about AI creep? Mary joined the podcast to discuss. We thought who better to ask about AI than AI itself so ChatGPT's latest AI model joined Mary to answer a few questions… (19:09) And finally: long live long lunch! Kenton Allen writes in defence of the traditional business lunch in the magazine this week. And it should be two hours at a minimum. This isn't a ‘long' lunch, he says, but a ‘proper' lunch. What does the decline of the work lunch tell us about society today? Kenton joined the podcast alongside the Spectator's restaurant critic Tanya Gold. They say there was a serious purpose to a long lunch, something being lost today by the modern workforce. Plus, they share their restaurant tips for the best long lunch. (27:46) Presented by William Moore and Lara Prendergast. Produced by Patrick Gibbons and Oscar Edmondson.

For most people, running a 100 mile race is an enormous undertaking, that requires months of diligent training. This week's guest, Basil Heaney, takes a different approach. He enjoys racing more than training, which means that he runs multiple ultra-distance races every year. Most recently, he ran the Winter Downs 200, the Winter Spine race (268 miles), and the Arc of Attrition (100 miles) within a seven week period. Some may call him crazy! Kenton talks to Basil about why he chooses to do this and how he approaches it. They also discuss Basil's 'passion project', a charity called Into Ultra that he has recently founded to help people whose financial barriers prevent them from running ultras. Although Kenton has not run an ultra, he and Basil find common ground in a love for the outdoors, the joy of running, the freedom of ski touring and a shared appreciation of Italian refugios! In 2005, Lorraine McCall left her house to 'go for a walk' on her 40th birthday and didn't stop until she had walked up, and between, all 284 Munros in Scotland (2 Munros have since been downgraded, so there are now officially only 282!) This was a journey of 1,500 miles on foot. Ten years later, Lorraine tackled all 222 Corbetts to celebrate her 50th birthday, and most recently, Lorraine became the first woman to summit all 231 Grahams in a single push in 2024 (she's about to turn 60!) We think you will agree that Lorraine is Kenton's most under-stated, humble, unassuming guest so far. She has walked, cycled and kayaked thousands of miles across Scotland purely for the love of it. She shuns technology and her footprint on social media is tiny. In this episode we learn all about the classification of hills in Scotland and the challenges of getting up some of them, but mostly we come away with an appreciation for Lorraine who found her chosen adventures and embraced them wholeheartedly, overcoming the difficulties and continually finding joy in them. This week Kenton dives into (excuse the pun!) a fascinating conversation with wild swimmer, author and journalist, Ella Foote. Ella has been swimming outside since her childhood, when her parents used to take her to the seaside and they spent hours in the sea. These days she is editor of Outdoor Swimmer magazine, she is founder of Dip Advisor - a company that takes people on swim adventures - and she is author of 'How to Wild Swim'. Kenton and Ella discuss everything from kit and equipment, to water quality and community. Ella's love for swimming outdoors is quite simply infectious and we challenge you to not want to dip your toe in the water after listening to this episode. What Ella's reading: Breaking Waves by Emma Simpson What Ella's listening to: The Cure's new album, Songs of a Lost World
Tracy's overheard some praise about Wayne's food at the Bull and suggests a few promotions. But they discover Wayne's leaving for a six-week cruise on Thursday. It's a band gig. Disappointed Tracy offers to cover in the kitchen, and Kenton keen to solve the problem agrees. Tracy heads off before Jolene has had time to think it through. She then realises they should have asked Fallon first. When Fallon offers to step in Jolene admits her mistake. Fallon insists it's fine. As Jill prepares to leave for Sunderland to visit Shula, Leonard feels it's time he went home. Later concerned Ruth and David discuss it and agree they'd like Leonard to stay with them permanently, for Jill's sake. When Ruth mentions it to Jill later, she's shocked to discover that Jill isn't keen on Leonard moving in. She thinks Jill's scared, and that she and Leonard are both hiding their feelings. Khalil needs to research an essay he's writing about farms from a predator's point of view. When he goes to Brookfield to research the Asian hornets, David invites Khalil to tag along to the winter housing with him. They get chatting about beavers and David's really scathing about them. Khalil mentions Neo, who he Kirsty and Rex met last week, then clams up. David knows Khalil's hiding something and persuades him to divulge the information. David returns home in a rage. But Leonard has some news – an old friend's died and the funeral's on Wednesday. He's cut up and David and Ruth sympathise, before David declares he's ready to read Justin Elliott the riot act.
Family and friends prepare the Tearoom ready for Pat and Tony's 50th Wedding Anniversary party. Tony's had the task of keeping the surprise from Pat, and she's delighted when she gets there. She can't believe that Tony managed to keep it a secret from her. When Mick congratulates Tony on his long marriage, Tony says that he and Pat have weathered many storms, but he wouldn't have wanted to go through them with anyone else. Talk turns to Mick staying at Joy's, with Mick explaining that it's only over Christmas and then they'll see. But he's enjoying the home comforts and being with Joy of course. Tony reckons Jolene and Kenton will be rooting for them – they probably can't wait to get his old campervan off their car park! Elsewhere Joy chats to Tom and Natasha saying it's a shame Helen's moving out from next door to her. When Natasha says what a great house it is, Joy suggests that Tom and Natasha move in. Joy heads off to mingle and Natasha points out to Tom that they can't rent forever; Seren and Nova deserve a bigger house. Tom admits that's he's tempted.Later Pat thanks Tony for a wonderful evening and they reminisce about their early days. And now with a thriving farm and Helen and Tom ready to take it forward for their children, it's not a bad legacy. They kiss. Looking on Mick and Joy comment that it just goes to show that if you find the right person, you need to hold on to them tightly.
Ben's working at the GP surgery where he bumps into Azra, who's concerned about Zainab. Azra thinks Zainab thinks should be putting in applications for university. Otherwise her gap year could end up being permanent. Zainab arrives and Azra seizes her opportunity to turn the conversation back to university, encouraging Ben to say he's enjoying his course. In fact she'll pay for Ben and Azra to discuss it over a hot chocolate. Zainab's not keen until Azra throws in a take-away later. Zainab explains to Ben that she's not sure she wants to go to university, but her mum shouldn't worry - she just needs a bit of time to work things out.Lynda notices that Mick's looking a bit below par. He explains that ticket sales for the Christmas Brunch at The Bull are very slow. He talked Jolene and Kenton into doing it, because he was really keen to be Father Christmas. But it's back-fired on him now. Meanwhile Jolene tells Kenton that she bumped into Helen in the shop. Apparently Jack's really excited about ‘Creepy Christmas'. When Kenton's incredulous that Helen actually think's it's on, Jolene confirms that Helen was hoping to buy some tickets. And there's some other parents who want to book too. Kenton wonders if Creepy Christmas has got legs after all. Later he tells Lynda and Mick that it's actually a really good idea. The Bull will do it as well as the Santa Brunch. Kenton's happy that Lynda and Mick are going to rehearse, but less so when Lynda wants to sort the financial terms first.
Ruth and David comment on the massive parcel that's arrived at Brookfield for Leonard, which they discover contains an electric bike. Leonard thinks it will make a real difference to his life and the planet. After charging it, he heads off for a spin around the village.Later Lynda turns up at Brookfield explaining to Ruth and David that she's just seen Leonard in the village, travelling at excessive speed. They agree to have a word with him about his dangerous driving. But Ben thinks Leonard's an experienced cyclist and Lynda was probably exaggerating. Nonetheless David points out that Leonard's no spring chicken and so more at risk from injury. Later Leonard returns from his ride, excited for his next one. When David mentions that Lynda was concerned about his speed, Leonard's unrepentant saying that if Lynda comes around telling tales again, he'll speak to her himself. Kenton catches up with Mick about next Sunday's Santa brunch. Kenton wonders if there's perhaps another direction that Mick's Santa delivery could go in, suggesting that Mick might use a different voice. But when Mick does, his delivery is flat and emotionless. Later Lynda gets a call from Kenton who explains his dilemma; Mick either sounds wooden and robotic or absolutely terrifying. Kenton wonders if Lynda could give Mick a few pointers. However, later she explains how impressed she was with Mick's performance. It's highly original and conjures up ‘Christmas darkness'. Lynda suggests having a Creepy Christmas with festive tales instead. But Kenton's adamant – all he wants is a traditional, non-terrifying Santa with a boring old brunch and grotto.
