In this episode, Dominique talks about the tangible benefits of getting rid of clutter in our homes and organizing the untouched corners. Once we start cleaning one area of our houses, it is contagious and we start to work on other areas as well. The same can be said for our mental and emotional health. As we start to work on personal development, clearing away the clutter or the distractions, it becomes contagious. Dominique also talks about authenticity in this episode. "If we spend our time trying to be like someone else, we are wasting our time. The world doesn't need you to try to be someone else, the universe is inviting YOU to show up as yourself. That's the greatest invitation for authenticity that exists, friends. It's easy to hide behind the clutter, it's easy to show our highlight reels on social media, it's easy to check the things off your to-do list as you go through the motions day by day. It's harder to clear away the clutter, to allow yourself to rest in who you are, to ask the universe or God, to give you what you truly want. Oftentimes, we feel as though we don't deserve our dreams. We aren't worthy of asking for more or taking those risks on ourselves. I'm here, kicking off the New Year with all of you friends, inviting you to show up as yourself. To clear away the clutter in your mind, in your life that distracts you from your purpose or your passions. Inviting you to make time for yourself. The world needs you, not you trying to be someone else." . . . . #cleartheclutter #nodistractions #dreams #dreaming #purpose #life #fulfillment #findingjoy #getridofthemess #messy #mariekondo #emotional

As I was looking at some big decisions this last week, my therapist helped me see more clearly how we all make decisions, with either our head and our heart. And it turns out that in life, we need to use both. And we need to ask ourselves which makes more of a difference down the road. Truth be told, there are many right decisions we could make in our lives. Many paths we can take and find happiness along the way, no one path guarantees a fulfilled ending. It's more about the journey and the road we're traveling and learning to enjoy the moment, the days, the minutes you have in front of you. From Canada to Peru to Mexico, Serei Jeppesen inspires us all with her stories about planting potatoes, going back to school to work in education, and pursuing her passion of styling hair while waiting for the right timing of it all. Serei tells her own story about growing up without any aunts, uncles, or grandparents as her mother was one of the many children in Canada taken away from indigenous parents at young ages to be placed in foster care. I first learned of this part of Canada's history only a year ago and was shocked to know this happened in the 1960's. That is not that long ago and the consequences on thousands of people is still playing out today as Serei touches on while sharing this vulnerable part of her own journey. As a friend, Serei is one of the most thoughtful people I know and she constantly makes me laugh, which she did today on the episode as well sharing the realities of working from home with kids. She also challenged us all to trust the timing of things and not try to go after everything at once as much as we want to make things happen on our timeline. This podcast Embrace La Musica exists to empower and encourage other women,so my sincere hope is that you listen to each episode, you too feel inspired and appreciative for the women in your life.

My absentee ballot arrived on Friday, the day the world lost a brave and brilliant fighter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. So much of what RBG fought for her entire life paved the way for all of us women to use our gifts, voices and minds to change the world. It would be amiss not to recognize the giant steps towards empowerment that she took in her life. 2020 has been a show and there's likely much to mourn as people miss their former lives before the pandemic took the world by storm. It's easy to want to turn it all off, to ignore the conflicts that have arisen and look the other way. As a woman and a mother, I can't be silent on the issues of injustice and inequality. Nor can I sit back and not say anything about politics and the election coming up. As RGB said, "I would like to be remembered as someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability." This is not the time to be silent. Speak up. Use your mind, use your voice, use your gifts. Let her memory be a revolution. Go vote. Episode 28 is a challenge to do all of the above. Show empathy and put yourself in the shows of the hurting and those in need, vote as if your family depends on it. . . . #podcast #RBG #ripgbv #vote #2020 #equality Some of the thoughts in this episode are similar to this blog post I mentioned today.

This candid episode is a reflection on life in light of the fact that my husband and I have been recovering from Covid-19. It was the one thing we were so desperately trying to avoid and so terrified of catching. As I explain in the podcast and in more detail on the blog post titled "Our Covid Diaries", we have no idea where we caught the virus and are so grateful that our cases were over overall mild. Yet even with mild cases one can't help but wonder how bad it's going to get when you're in the middle of it, with no smell or taste, a sore throat, body aches and lungs that feel heavy. On one of the bad days, as I drifted in and out of sleep all day long, I woke up at one point wondering "What if this is it?" and I wrote a little reflection on the questions I had about life and I how I chose to spend my days and fill my thoughts. So I hope this episode, though it may feel heavy towards the end, encourages you to keep dreaming as that's the soul of this podcast and my blog, to inspire others to reach for more, love deeply and live with intention. She talks about her passion for travel, yoga and how those two loves brought her to where she is today. She mentions experiencing culture shock within her own country and the difficulties of living far away from family which many of us have experienced. I am personally so grateful for Jessica as she has taught me so much about self-care, being in the moment and letting go. She constantly inspires those around her to choose to be present, because "now" is all you have for certain. I hope you are encouraged by today's episode and reminded that as little control you have in your current circumstances you are always able to be mindful and find things to be grateful for. Also, as a note and as I say to open this episode today.:"After what has been a very heavy week for many, as we are seeing a broken system, pleading for justice to be served for George Floyd, and for Breona Taylor among many other black lives who have been unjustly served, sentenced, or killed. Many of us are being awakened to a reality that has always existed and we were privileged enough to look the other way, I admit that I may not have the perfect words to articulate and I am working on my own education of a deep rooted culture and the unfair treatment of black lives for centuries. It may be difficult to recognize the part that we've played in racism, but being aware and speaking up against racism is vital."
