Começou nesta segunda-feira (3), em Annecy, nos Alpes franceses, o julgamento do ex-pastor brasileiro Edi Maikel dos Santos Silva, acusado de seis crimes sexuais contra menores na França. Diante dos juízes, após três anos e meio de prisão preventiva, o réu voltou a negar ter mantido relações sexuais ou abusado das vítimas. A RFI conversou com algumas delas, que esperam por justiça.  Maria Paula Carvalho, da RFI  Pelo menos três vítimas estiveram presentes na audiência na Corte Criminal do Tribunal de Annecy. Todas têm parentesco com o acusado e autorizaram que os fatos narrados fossem tornados públicos.  Natural de Belém do Pará, Edi Maikel dos Santos Silva, de 38 anos, está preso preventivamente por decisão do Tribunal de Annecy, no sudeste da França, desde maio de 2022.  Ele atuou como pastor em Annemasse, uma pequena cidade francesa na fronteira com a Suíça. O ex-pastor responde por três estupros e três agressões sexuais contra menores. Em três desses casos, o acusado exercia autoridade sobre a vítima, o que pode agravar a pena em caso de condenação.  Ao menos oito pessoas prestaram queixa à Justiça francesa, relatando terem sido agredidas por ele ao longo dos últimos 20 anos. Entre elas está Camilla Araújo de Souza, sobrinha de Edi Maikel.   "São momentos de muita apreensão, mas estamos confiantes de que tudo vai dar certo. O importante é que estamos aqui todos juntos, torcendo pela nossa vitória", disse ela esta manhã, à RFI. Camilla conta que começou a ser abusada em 2002, quando ainda era criança. Após denunciar o caso à Justiça francesa, ela revelou à RFI detalhes dos abusos: "Minha mãe nos surpreendeu — ele estava tentando esfregar o pênis no meu bumbum", relatou. "Ele é meu tio, irmão da minha mãe. Depois disso, meus pais se separaram. Moramos com minha avó e, em seguida, com minha tia. Quando estávamos na casa da minha avó, ele tentou novamente," acrescenta.   O assédio continuou após a mudança de Camilla para a França, onde, segundo ela, "começaram a ocorrer relações sexuais com penetração". Na época, Camilla tinha entre 12 e 13 anos. "O que mais me revolta é ele dizer que é cristão, que acredita em Deus, mas não assumir o que fez. Então, não está arrependido", lamentou.  Acusado nega denúncias Na tarde desta segunda-feira, diante da juíza que preside a sessão, Edi Maikel dos Santos Silva voltou a negar qualquer envolvimento com Camilla.  "Ele diz que nunca aconteceu nada. Afirma que eu comecei a me apaixonar por ele e, para evitar problemas, foi embora para o Brasil. Mas isso é mentira", segue Camilla. "Na verdade, ele foi para o Brasil porque, quando fui denunciá-lo à polícia, minha avó comprou uma passagem e o mandou para lá, com medo de que fosse preso", denuncia.  Hoje adulta e mãe de dois filhos, Camilla compareceu ao Palácio de Justiça de Annecy acompanhada do pai, João Maria, que viajou da Guiana Francesa — região ultramarina da França. "Estamos aqui juntos", disse o pai da vítima à RFI.  Frédéric Fabrice Cordeiro Brasil, tio de Camila, percebeu imediatamente a atitude suspeita do ex-cunhado, que na época fugiu com a jovem. Mas foi ao descobrir que suas próprias filhas, Kíssia e Victoria, então com 4 e 5 anos, também haviam sido molestadas por Edi Maikel, que ele denunciou o ex-cunhado à polícia. "Todas as noites elas acordavam com a mão dele na calcinha", revelou à reportagem da RFI. Frédéric será ouvido durante o julgamento nesta terça-feira à tarde. Ele afirma estar impressionado com a negação do réu. "Ele negou tudo. Disse que desconhece toda a situação. Não reconhece nada. Ele se lembra de muitos detalhes da infância, mas não se lembra do que fez com essas crianças. Mesmo com provas, declarações, testemunhas, ele diz que não tem nada a declarar e mantém a negação. Com deboche e cinismo, ele responde e ainda olha para as vítimas com desprezo e falta de respeito. As irmãs dele declaram que ele é uma pessoa normal e que não têm nada a se queixar dele" relata. Nesta primeira audiência, a juíza principal apresentou o caso a outros quatro juízes. Entre as testemunhas, foram ouvidas uma ex-namorada de Edi Maikel e uma criança da terceira série de uma escola onde o ex-pastor trabalhava na França. Frédéric conta que a menina denunciou o fato de que o réu havia conseguido seu número de celular e que ela teve medo, pedindo para trocar de turma. Segundo ele, colegas de trabalho de Edi Maikel também declararam à Justiça que o réu "tinha um comportamento esquisito em relação a uma aluna". "O que todos nós queremos é que ele seja severamente punido, por muitos anos, que receba uma pena severa e exemplar. Por tudo aquilo que ele fez, que passe mais de 20, 30 anos na cadeia,", diz Frédéric. "Nós fomos traídos, fomos enganados. Pensávamos que era uma pessoa boa, mas por trás dessa camada de ovelha havia um bicho muito perigoso," continua. "Alívio e recuperar a honra" A ex-mulher de Edi Maikel, Mayra Angela Silveira Vieira, e a filha Marjorie Vieira Palheta, foram ouvidas esta tarde. Mayra descobriu que o acusado abusou da filha pequena quando passaram a viver com ele. Ao estranhar o comportamento da menina, ela resolveu investigar. Em entrevista à RFI, ela contou que os abusos começaram quando a menina tinha cinco anos. As agressões duraram cerca de 10 anos. Por conta disso, a filha desenvolveu transtornos, como apontou a conclusão do exame psicológico feito pelo Tribunal de Annecy quando a jovem tinha 18 anos. O laudo, ao qual a RFI teve acesso, afirma que a vítima "tinha medo de homens, sofria de insônia, tinha pesadelos e não suportava a vergonha pelo ocorrido". Mayra Angela Silveira conta que o ex-marido chegou a confessar os abusos, em uma reunião gravada em vídeo com a mediação de um pastor. Mas ao ser interrogado no inquérito, ele negou tudo. "Estamos muito emocionadas. Os sentimentos são muito intensos. A raiva, a revolta são muito intensas. Ele negou tudo, então eu ainda tinha um pingo de esperança de que ele pelo menos assumisse, porque isso alivia a nossa dor, alivia a nossa revolta. Mas ele nega tudo, e sempre tenta se fazer de vítima", disse Mayra. "Acredito que ele está cavando o próprio buraco. É muito revoltante. Ao mesmo tempo, dá um alívio poder viver isso. Dar voz a muitas vítimas que não têm a oportunidade que a gente tem. E eu quero que a minha filha sinta dessa forma: lutando pela verdade dela, tentando recuperar um pouco da sua honra. Isso é algo irreversível, mas queremos viver isso ao máximo para virar essa página e tentar viver em paz." A advogada de defesa, Sylvie Correia, explicou que as vítimas tinham a possibilidade de escolher uma audiência fechada, mas optaram por uma audiência pública para expor os fatos. "Acho que vamos viver uns cinco dias bastante intensos. Para as pessoas que eu represento, este julgamento é visto como o fim deste processo, deste caminho que elas fizeram para serem consideradas como vítimas e aceitar que o que elas viveram não era um caso normal, e que têm direitos." Detenção prorrogada pela justiça O acusado passou por exames psicológicos. No laudo, ao qual a RFI teve acesso, Edi Maikel revela ter sofrido agressões sexuais na adolescência. A sua detenção provisória foi prorrogada quatro vezes pela justiça francesa.  A reportagem entrou em contato com o advogado do acusado, mas não obteve retorno até esta publicação. A legislação da França prevê penas mais duras quando há agressão de membros da própria família. O brasileiro, que diz ser vítima de um complô, pode pegar até 20 anos de prisão. O julgamento vai até a próxima sexta-feira (7).

MAYRA: e aí eu gravei um monte de coisa legal e descobri que eu não tava gravando LIDIA: Mas, calma, fica aqui, a gente ainda tinha um tempo de viagem pela frente e regravamos tudo que foi falado de interessante. Elas fazem parte do programa Coffee Change, que é um braço do grande projeto interdisciplinar, BIOS. [VINHETA: Você está ouvindo Oxigênio, um programa de ciência, cultura e tecnologia] LIDIA: Naquele dia, a gente tava a caminho da cidade Espírito Santo do Pinhal… MAYRA: pra acompanhar a parte de uma pesquisa que a professora Simone Pallone faz parte, que é a coordenadora aqui do Oxigênio. Então, você vai ter a possibilidade ilustre de ouvir a voz da Simone, que sempre foge dos microfones. MAYRA: Pinhal, pros íntimos, é uma cidadezinha no interior de São Paulo, quase chegando na divisa do Sul de Minas Gerais. “A gente” era eu, a Lidia, a Simone e o Guilherme, que vocês vão conhecer daqui a pouco. LIDIA: O objetivo da visita era fazer o terceiro grupo focal de um estudo que está em andamento, coordenado pela professora Claudia Pfeiffer – que ainda vai aparecer nesse episódio – e que a Simone também participa. MAYRA: Então, Simone, explica pra gente o que é um grupo focal. SIMONE: Bom, grupo focal é uma técnica de pesquisa usada bastante nas áreas de comunicação, de ciências sociais, na área de saúde também, que você reúne um grupo de pessoas, que aí você define que perfil vão ter esses participantes, pra tratarem, pra conversarem sobre um assunto determinado. Então, no nosso caso, a gente vai conversar sobre mudanças climáticas. SIMONE: Então, eu vou procurar pistas em relação ao que esses produtores conhecem sobre ciência e tecnologia, como os conhecimentos deles sobre ciência interferem na interpretação deles sobre as mudanças climáticas, e também sobre como eles se informam sobre isso, como eles se informam a respeito de ciência e tecnologia, em quem eles confiam para se informar sobre essas questões, e quais são as atitudes, como eles se preparam para enfrentamento dessas questões, ou o que eles estão dispostos a fazer em prol de atender, de mitigar os efeitos, ou se adaptar aos efeitos que eles identificam sobre mudanças climáticas. MAYRA: Você deve ter percebido uma diferença grande na qualidade desse áudio da Simone agora. É que depois do Grupo Focal, a gente sentou de novo no estúdio aqui do Labjor pra conversar mais e entender alguns pontos importantes que surgiram depois da nossa ida pra Pinhal. LIDIA: A gente pediu pra Simone explicar melhor como é possível investigar essas questões, que são hipóteses de pesquisa, através de uma roda de conversa entre produtores.

Pedro Fernandez turns up in yet another movie for the Galindo's with his magnificent curly mullet and easy cool. Teen pop star Tatiana shows up to sing her hit single Chicos Chicos as she ages out of the teen pop arena but just a few years prior to her ascent as one of Mexico's biggest children's entertainers. The whole cast is rounded out by a bona fide legend of Mexican film, Joaquin Cordero and I have to wonder if any one of these actors stopped for a moment and pondered what exactly they were doing in this movie because if we were any one of these actors we would be very confused and very concerned.In this very loose sequel to 1989's Vacation of Terror the evil witch-possessed doll somehow escaped its fate of the previous movie and winds up as a prop on a movie studio. With a lot of questions probably best left unanswered, the doll hides under an elaborate birthday cake and transforms into a horrible slimy goblin creature and wreaks havoc on the movie lot as our heroic Julio and bouncy Mayra race against the clock to save the imperiled soul of her sister, Tania, before the sun rises and the slimy witch goblin steals her soul for good. During the interview, Mayra discusses her upbringing and cultural background, which have shaped her life. In 2020, she commenced her first semester in pre-medicine. Since no family member had previously pursued higher education, she was unfamiliar with scholarship opportunities and solely relied on FAFSA, securing a loan for the remaining expenses. Consequently, Mayra accumulated a debt of $50,000. Tragically, her single mother fell ill and was unable to continue working. In response to her mother's encouragement, Mayra resolved to resume her nursing studies in the fall of 2024, following a three-and-a-half-year hiatus. As the sole financial provider for her household, she must concurrently pursue full-time employment and academic commitments. Gradually, she aspires to acquire a nursing certificate while harboring aspirations of becoming a nurse practitioner, fulfilling her childhood aspiration of becoming a physician. As a member of the Latino community, Mayra advises, “Embrace your identity and heritage. Recognize the sacrifices made by others for your better life. Let this inspire your actions. Engage in activities that resonate with you, share your experiences, and educate others to the best of your abilities. Do not succumb to setbacks, as I did when I had to pause my life for a period. However, I believe that part of what it means to be Latino is to persevere and overcome challenges. Embrace your resilience and return stronger, allowing it to guide your future.” Mayra's narrative exemplifies the indomitable human spirit's capacity to overcome adversity and pursue higher education. It also demonstrates the ability to adapt and make necessary adjustments in the face of challenges. We're praying for it.” —Kerwin A guiding pastoral metaphor: vultures circling a wounded deer, and the need to protect the vulnerable from predation. “The vultures were circling… and I covered the deer… and the vultures left.” —Kerwin “The needs have not slowed. …  finances always follow just heart and compassion and awareness.” —Megan “You learn so much in the middle of crisis. One of the things that crisis does is it confirms character and you realize like what people are made of when you're going through something.” “Until. Until the need is gone, until we don't have to do it anymore.” —Kerwin The immigrant community faces a second “fire”—ICE raids and deportation threats layered atop housing loss. “The intersection of those… the two fires, the fire that we didn't know we were gonna have, and the fire that we knew was coming.” —Mayra CCC pastors protested ICE actions together, maintaining peace through community presence and music. “The pastors were there… and then it's just… it's a sacred party.” —Mayra Latino cultural traditions of protest, grief, and celebration shaped a healing, communal public presence. “We cry and we're gonna probably celebrate and eat food and dance together.” —Mayra Local leaders are pushing back against a 10-year recovery timeline with a goal of rebuilding within 3–5 years. “We reject that. She said, three to five years, that's what we're gonna push for.” —Mayra Community grief deepened when the first burned lot was sold; hope emerged again when the first rebuilding began. “There they go… it's gonna start selling.” / “We think there was… this collective celebration.” —Mayra “Soon and very soon we're gonna see the King.” —Kerwin Kerwin invoked Isaiah 61:3: “Beauty will rise” as a spiritual theme for their church's recovery ministry. “We believe that we're able to continue to do what we're doing knowing that, trusting that beauty's gonna rise.” —Kerwin The phrase “Altadena is not for sale” became a rallying cry—although some elders opted to relocate for peace. “It's up to you. Our prayer is that more people will want to stay than leave.” —Kerwin Ongoing challenges include zoning delays, state and county coordination issues, and political friction at the national level. “The church has always been a vital provider of resources, critical social services and resources in communities on an ongoing basis in normal time.” —Mayra ”The greatest sense that you get from being there is people are together.
