Hello to you listening in Chiclana de la Frontera, Spain!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Recently, I was told to stop using a script for my podcast. I was told to take off the training wheels. I was told to fly free. I said “No!” Ever wonder why top speakers and broadcasters often use scripts? It's not a crutch—it's a tool for excellence. 10 ways your script serves you:✓ Precision: Scripts ensure every word counts, especially in time-constrained formats.✓ Clarity: Writing helps organize thoughts, resulting in a more coherent message.✓ Concision: Scripting allows for editing, cutting fluff, and honing key points.✓ Consistency: Regular scripting develops a recognizable style and voice.✓ Preparation: Scripts reduce anxiety and boost confidence before recording or speaking.✓ Professionalism: Well-crafted words reflect dedication to your craft and audience.✓ Time Management: Scripts help maintain pacing and hit crucial points within time limits.✓ Flexibility: A good script serves as a guide, not a cage, allowing for natural delivery.✓ Quality Control: Writing enables review and refinement before going live.✓ Respect: Preparing thoroughly shows you value your listeners' time and attention.Story Prompt: A script isn't about reading robotically—it's about crafting your message with intention. The best speakers make their carefully prepared words sound spontaneous. How do you embrace your script, not as training wheels, but a launchpad for powerful communication? Write that story! You're always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer✓ For a no-obligation conversation about your Origin Story & communication challenges, get in touch with me today✓ Stay current with Diane as “Wyzga on Words” on SubstackStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer's Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron Music

Military-grade spyware, once the province of shadowy intelligence outfits, is now being handed over to local police forces. As an Ontario resident, I find this deeply unsettling. These tools are powerful, precise, and built for a level of strategic nuance that most municipal sometimes even provincial police simply aren't equipped to handle. It's like handing a ten-year-old a scalpel and asking them to perform surgery. The intentions might be sincere, but the training, context, and oversight just aren't there. And that gap between tool and user is where things start to slip where privacy erodes, rights get sidelined, and the line between public safety and state overreach gets dangerously blurry. What Is Spyware and How Does It Work? At its core, spyware is software designed to secretly infiltrate and monitor digital devices usually without the knowledge or consent of the person being targeted. Once installed, it can track online activity, harvest sensitive information, and even take control of device functions like cameras and microphones. Military-grade spyware, like NSO Group's Pegasus or Paragon's Graphite, takes this to another level. These advanced tools can penetrate even the most secure devices, including phones protected by encrypted messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, and Signal. Some spyware even uses "zero-click" exploits meaning the target doesn't need to click a suspicious link for their device to be compromised. This isn't just like wiretapping a phone call. Spyware can reveal a person's entire digital life recording private conversations, tracking real-time locations, logging browsing histories, and accessing stored files. For police, it's revolutionary. But for the rest of us? It's a chilling reminder that nothing is truly private anymore. Why Are Local Police Using Spyware? So, why are local police turning to such extreme surveillance measures? The short answer: encryption. As more people use encrypted communication platforms, traditional surveillance methods like wiretapping are becoming less effective. Criminal organizations, human traffickers, and other bad actors know how to hide their tracks using secure apps, creating a major challenge for law enforcement. Spyware gives police a way around these barriers by directly accessing the suspect's device and collecting evidence that would otherwise be out of reach. And there's public pressure, too. With high-profile crimes making headlines, law enforcement is under intense pressure to deliver fast results. Spyware, with its ability to gather and analyze large amounts of information in real time, can speed up investigations and improve the odds of making an arrest. In Canada, local police forces are increasingly adopting advanced surveillance technologies to stay ahead of tech-savvy criminals. But as these tools become more common, there's a growing concern: Who's watching the watchers? Ontario Police and "Graphite" Spyware Controversy A recent example that's sparked public debate is Ontario police's use of Graphite spyware. This highly advanced tool can bypass encrypted communications and operate without leaving a trace, meaning police can monitor individuals without them ever knowing. Police officials claim they only use Graphite in the most serious cases. But here's the catch there's little public information about how often it's used or what safeguards are in place. Without transparency, it's impossible to know whether police are sticking to serious crimes or deploying these powerful tools for more routine investigations. Civil liberties advocates are especially worried that spyware could be turned against people who challenge authority - journalists, political activists, or marginalized communities. And it's not just happening in Ontario. Across the globe, police forces are quietly adopting military-grade spyware, often without public input or clear legal oversight. RCMP's Use of Spyware It's not just local police getting in on the action. In 2022, the...

After his postdoctoral research at MIT in History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences, Doyle wrote The Wetwares Trilogy, a sequence of books on the history of information biology that reached its climax with one of my favorite reads of all time, Darwin's Pharmacy: Sex, Plants, and The Evolution of the Noosphere. He is also the author of The Genesis of Now: Self Experiments with the Bible & the End of Religion and Into The Stillness: Dialogues on Awakening Beyond Thought (with Gary Weber), and has taught courses on “aliens, Philip K. Dick, nanotechnology, rebellion itself, ecstasy, Sanskrit rhetorical traditions, Burroughs, basic argumentation, The Non Dual Bible, and everything in between.” I discovered Doyle through his appearances on my first favorite podcast, Erik Davis' Expanding Mind, and in the thirteen years since he has shown up for me time and time again as mentor, friend, and inspiration. And since this project is, ostensibly, a way of training my own language model to reflect the wisdom of my friends and colleagues, I can think of no one else I'd rather prime the batch. But there is always more than one loop. Most of the things our fleshy bodies do are local decisions made before we ever become conscious of them, if we ever do…and yet evolution clearly found some value in reflection, self-awareness, reflex inhibition, and the will that quiets maladaptive impulse. Widening our frame to see the way that humans are always-already intertwingled with our ecosystems, we can see ourselves as made of interference patterns between nested feedback loops — as focal points of conscious agency dependent on and acting in a massive, endlessly surprising web of automatic processes. For as long as we've been people we have never really “called the shots” but rather cultivated our response-ability within a cosmos made of entities whose otherness and mystery remained persistently opaque…and ritualized ways to live amidst this mystery in full recognition of the unity from which we cannot isolate ourselves. And this is only one of indefinitely many valid ways to understand the human. Like the telescope and microscope before them, language models reveal fresh perspectives on familiar landscapes. We do not need to leave our solar system to find “strange new worlds” awaiting us in places as familiar as our own minds and bodies. While most of the conversation lately seems to be about the power these new maps confer and whether it can be distributed more evenly, AI provides a new set of affordances for mystics for the transformation of our consciousness that can dissolve our wicked problems in a higher logical order. “What can I do?” becomes “Who am I?” and yields endlessly evolving and kaleidoscopic answers that provoke ongoing inquiry. To see the ways in which we are, as individuals, not just “connected” but precipitate as aggregates, in fields of constellated data, prompts a figure-ground reversal in which selves no longer hold their primacy as ground truth of our being, but show up last as we make inferences and draw stories from unbroken and inseparable experience.Something fundamental changes when we shift to seeing “human” and “non-human” as two stable patterns of recursive self-perception emerging from a single fabric of unfolding possibility: we find the opportunity to question what we're trying to achieve, to notice the ungrounded and conditional reality of narrative, to operate on our own “source code” and adjust our goals accordingly. If we can find the curiosity to ask ourselves if our fears and inadequacies really help us live the lives we want, we can follow it upstream to where each moment offers fresh, distinctive landscapes in which to explore and play and learn. In doing so, we rediscover vast and potent creativity. Instead of asking whether we can do more, we can ask “What do we want to do, and why is that desire substantiated?”This kind of meaning-making isn't just a luxury but an essential aspect of all efforts to survive and to succeed. The best way to get unstuck is to orient ourselves and take a different tack. We all know something isn't working. It's time to ask if, maybe, this is due to “user error” and the answer doesn't lie in new technologies, but in the simplest and most ancient truths available. We cannot control the world because we are the world — and, this entails a sense of radical responsibility to play our way into more well-adapted stories, models of the world we hold with humor and humility as they carve channels in the space of shared attention that coordinate us into futures good and true and beautiful. In other words, the magical technologies inspiring so much religious fear and fervor are both Towers of Babel and fingers pointing to the Moon. They are weird, unprecedented, and sublime — and they are business as usual on Planet Earth, where we have always come awake in medias res amidst unfathomable changes and unknowable intelligence. Recognizing this, we gain access to deep continuity and the place from which we can, at last, engage the question of “What Now?” with discipline and limber rigor suitable to the profound complexity we face.Digital technologies are psychedelic. We've been on a bad trip. It's time for us wiggle out, dream better, and allow a more capacious, plural, and harmonious humanity to take the oars together in whatever novel wonders may arise — to neither “give way to astonishment” nor let our fears steer us into the rocks. Humans On The Loop is an investigation of how awesome it could be, right now, to fully give in to the paradox, and notice how its knots untie in hyperspace, and revisit all our looming crises with more presence, grace, and understanding — and more lucid (dare I say, productive?) questions. One of those questions is how to apply the lessons of the living generations of psychonauts and psychedelic therapists to the vertiginous information and attention vortices in which we now found ourselves swirling. Maps of the World Wide Web look very much like brain scans of the amped-up functional connectivity between ordinarily inhibited brain regions in a psilocybin tripper. When the walls come down — when every node has edges with each other node, and average path length drops to one — how do we prioritize? What paths do we decide to cut through the emergent “intertwingularity”? Which apparitions do we honor, and which do we ignore? (And how?) Some familiar tropes that we might use to guide us: “test your drugs”, “get grounded”, “set and setting”, “integration counseling”…MentionsGenerated by NotebookLM. Amanda Peters is a Mi'kmaw writer from Nova Scotia whose debut novel, “The Berry Pickers,” became one of the most talked about books in North America last year. Now, she's back with a collection of short stories, titled “Waiting for the Long Night Moon.” The book touches on heavy topics like residential schools, the fight for the right to clean water, systemic racism and abuse, as well as intimate stories based on her own life as a white-passing Indigenous woman. Amanda sits down with Tom to talk about her literary success, the heaviness and joy in her new collection, and why she calls these stories her “training wheels.”

You're always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer✓ For a no-obligation conversation about your Origin Story & communication challenges, get in touch with me today✓ Stay current with Diane on as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer's Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron Music

In this episode, we breakdown Kamala Harris as she prepares for her first interview in more than 35 days since being named the nominee for president. The big question is whether it will be the expected love fest or something tougher. Mark and Krysty share their differing predictions on how it will unfold. Plus, Mark weighs in on "Training Wheels" Tim Walz joining Harris for the interview and what it suggests about her campaign's confidence ion her abilities to handle herself. We also tackle a concerning revelation involving the Biden-Harris administration and Facebook. According to Mark Zuckerberg, the administration influenced Facebook to censor Americans—a move that has significant implications for our rights. Mark and Krysty highlight a damning piece of video evidence where the Biden administration denies these actions, only for Zuckerberg to admit they occurred.Furthermore, we take a deep dive into the soon-to-expire "Trump Tax Cuts." Our analysis finds that these cuts significantly benefited low and middle-income families the most, and you'll want to hear the details. To top off the episode, we feature a clever song remix that's sure to take you back to your teenage years.#2024 #breakingnews #trump #biden #newmexico #abq #albuquerque #border #BORDERWALL #immigration #inflation #trumptaxcuts #harriswalz2024 #economy #inflation #newsWebsite: https://www.nodoubtaboutitpodcast.com/Twitter: @nodoubtpodcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/NoDoubtAboutItPod/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/markronchettinm/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ%3D%3D

I have a 21-year-old son named Kraig who was diagnosed with autism in the year 2005, at the age of 2.5.  His diagnosis changed my life and my career path, so we're talking about autism today.  After I share some background information, I “dispense” 10 lessons I learned from raising a child with autism.     Create a vision for your child's future.   Keep an open mind.  Think ability first.  Embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion.   Don't underestimate the ordinary. Discover your “gifts of autism.” Take care of yourself. Embrace disruption.  Be a leader. Save what you love.   Thank you for listening to episode 273 of The Pharmacist's Voice ® Podcast!   To read the FULL show notes, visit https://www.thepharmacistsvoice.com/podcast.  Select episode 273.   Subscribe to or follow The Pharmacist's Voice ® Podcast to get each new episode delivered to your podcast player and YouTube every time a new one comes out!     Apple Podcasts   https://apple.co/42yqXOG  Spotify  https://spoti.fi/3qAk3uY  Amazon/Audible  https://adbl.co/43tM45P YouTube https://bit.ly/43Rnrjt   This is not my typical kind of episode, but this is also not the first episode I've published about autism. If you'd like to listen to the other two, they are episodes 213 (2023) and 147 (2022).   I created this episode for pharmacy professionals in America raising a child with autism because I'm an American pharmacist raising a child with autism.  You can read about stats and definitions online, but to find out how autism impacts a pharmacist Mom or a family, you should be listening to people like me. If you're raising a child with autism, you will be able to relate even if you're not a pharmacy professional. Kendall Vanderslice joins us today to talk bread, food, community, and loneliness—all some of my favorite topics. Founder of the non-profit,  EdibleTheology.com, Kendall shares her wisdom regarding cultural polarization, and how eating together is a vulnerable and soul-filling activity. I love her call to include "rhythms of times at the table" in an effort to stave off our default into isolation. And, that when we do, we feel more known, respected and healed. Author of We Will Feast, By Bread Alone, as well as the digital course, Bake With the Bible, Kendall also promotes a program we can use in our churches to build community and love, even in the middle of an election year! (Maybe especially in the middle of an election year!) And she is offering a copy of her recently released book/memoir: By Bread Alone: A Baker's Reflections on Hunger, Longing and the Goodness of God. Some gems from our conversation: To eat together takes vulnerability at some level which leads to deeper sharing and better knowing of one another. Loneliness has negative effects on our brains and our bodies.  God speaks to us in the act of cooking and eating. Healing is possible around the table. Pull up a chair. Sharing stories and meals can fill gaps and foster connections unlike any other thing. Invite others into your home on purpose when it's not all cleaned up and perfect. We can love better when we don't agree on topics when we cook and eat together.  To stave off loneliness, purpose to plan your life around rhythms of eating at the table with others. Her favorite thing to bake (I asked!) is "Sourdough on Training Wheels." Sounds like my kind of sourdough. In her own words Hello! I'm Kendall Vanderslice – yes, before you ask, that is my true name. It's just by chance (or the humor of God) that I ended up in a field so fitting. I'm a baker and writer, whose best thinking occurs as I work dough between my hands; I scribble down thoughts on pieces of parchment dusted in flour, until I can parse them out later before my keyboard. When I embarked on a career as a pastry chef, I found that my love of bread transformed the ways I read scripture. Fascinated by God's use of food throughout the arc of the Gospel, I merged my work in the kitchen with academic study of food and theology. I founded the educational nonprofit Edible Theology as an outlet for further research and public engagement in this sphere. You can get a taste for our work by listening to our weekly podcast Kitchen Meditations. I'm a graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois (BA Anthropology), where I began engaging questions of food and faith. Interested in commensality—or, the social dynamics of eating together—I studied food at Boston University (MLA Gastronomy). My thesis on church meals sparked a range of theological questions, leading me to Duke University where I wrote a thesis on the theology of bread (MTS). In 2018 I was named a James Beard Foundation national scholar for my work on food and religion. My first book, We Will Feast: Rethinking Dinner, Worship, and the Community of God, released May 2019. My second book, By Bread Alone: A Baker's Reflections on Hunger, Longing, and the Goodness of God, releases February 2023.
