What's stealing your time? I asked myself that question while using my Elegant Excellence Journal one morning. When we're behind most of us tend to go to one main reason. Perhaps that's beating yourself up, or blaming others. Perhaps it's a sense of failure that makes you procrastinate, or a believe you can solve it through perfection that amps you up into overdrive. What I realized is there are actually 5 different scenarios it could be. By opening up those possibilities, now I opened up my options. I didn't have to just blame myself, but also sometimes I could take that ownership because I wasn't making it “my fault” 100% of the time which is exhausting. I didn't have to just accept it, but also sometimes I could have that acceptance and release because it didn't leave me empowered that 100% of the time there's nothing I can do to feel more safe or less overwhelmed. Suddenly I felt less like a failure or a victim. When we realize the habit groove we've been creating of one narrative isn't the only option, our thinking expands, and we don't keep banging into the same tender spot again and again. Listen in today and see which of the 5 reasons you're behind lead you to the biggest breakthrough of peace, permission, or an action plan. 5 Categories Cheat Sheet: (will make sense once you listen!) If you're going through something hard right now it can feel complicated to find words of wisdom that really ring true. Don't feel trite, don't fall apart upon further scrutiny and application. Yes. Creating your life like a work of art starts with having a vision and being deeply intentional about what we desire (while also leaving room for the mystery). Modern “goal setting” strategies can feel cold or simply exhausting. I've spent a decade researching the best ways to intentionally set goals that are aligned with your values in a way that also feels easy and fun. So in today's episode I cover my favorite annual reflection and annual planning processes, how to discover and get creative with your 10, 3 and 1 year goals, and how to implement online and paper systems for consistency. You can do these practices anytime, not just around the start of the year but also the start of a quarter, around your birthday, or anytime that you need clarity. If you followed me for any amount of time, it's probably not news to you that I love planning and reflection. They both tend to keep me moving towards an actual goal versus letting life happen to you. They give us intention. Planning without reflection can be pretty useless for most people. So know that everything we talk about today assumes that you will revisit your goal and process on a weekly basis throughout the year. I use Hilary Rushford elegance excellence goals journal in order to do this as well as my day designer daily planner. I've used both of these for almost 5 years now and swear by both of them. They may work for you, or they may not, but I encourage you to find some thing that does.  When I talk about having success in 2023, I am referring to both personal and career-based success. Whatever that looks like for you. From an entrepreneurial standpoint I have a bias towards your business serving your life. And setting it up in a way that makes the life you want cohesive with the business that you want. That's what I deem as successful. That might involve a revenue number at your job, or a certain amount of clients, or the creation of a new product that you've been dreaming of. Ideally those goals are so that you can travel more, spend more time with your family, do more spontaneous things, or have more time to do more hobbies that you enjoy. So let's go ahead and talk about step one, which is of course reflecting on last year. I think in order to determine what you want out of 2023, it's worth looking at what went well and what didn't go well in 2022. And then of course providing context to that. The start of my 2022 and all the goals that I had nearly all went to the wayside when I found out I was pregnant before we were even done with quarter one of the year. So no I did miss the opportunity for some of those goals,I don't consider it a failure that I didn't do much of what I set out to do in 2022 because life quite literally took on a whole new direction. My focus changed, and there were simply different demands on the table. Assessing last year and gaps If you had goals in 2022, be it personal or business based, how did those go? What months were your high months, and what months were your low months? And why was that? What did you find went really really well, and what continued to get pushed to the back burner? Even though maybe you wanted it to be a priority. Did you rest more? Read more? Go on small adventures more? Did you start investing? Move? Did you start a new career? Provide some context and seasons to your last year. This is what I believe will really set you up for success in your goal planning for 2023. We can make better decisions moving forward when we know what happened in the past, how we behaved, and why that was the case. That gives us context as to what is realistic moving forward. Planning your goals A common mistake that I have fallen into myself, and watch other people fall into every year is choosing way too many goals to accomplish. I see no issue with making a huge list of things that you would like to accomplish, but then categorizing them or looking at if-than type of goals. If you achieve this goal than likely these other three goals get achieved along the way. If that makes sense.  For example, some thing that is still on the table for Nathanael and I is the goal of being location independent. For us that means living in our home for the majority of the year but may be traveling for three months of the year. This has become much more of a perhaps then a definitive goal with the pregnancy and just experiencing life with the new baby. But other goals that I have financially and with my business or what will allow the goal of location independence to become a reality if we want it to be. So that goal is contingent on other goals happening. It's true that you will be far more successful in achieving your goal if your focus is not being pulled in s...

This podcast episode is the epitome of nuance - of several different emotions and experiences coexisting at the same time. So I want to make clear that if you skip any part of this or take any single part of it as the conclusion of my experience or this episode, you are mistaken and you're also missing the entire point of this episode. Bless me and my attempt to keep this episode concise. I've already decided to make this a two part series because it's just needed to get in everything I want to. Bringing a bebe into the world is not a simple thing for me (or anyone I presume). Pregnancy back story It's no secret to my Instagram audience, friends or family that Nate and I were team no babies for a long time. I say that but it's not entirely true. If that was the case, we would have gotten him snipped or tied my tubes or taken an actual preventative route. That only makes sense if you're 100% on not producing offspring. For us, we've been married nine years in August. When we got married, we told people, maybe in three years we'd think about expanding our family. Then three years rolled around, and we said maybe at that five year mark. Then five turned into we aren't preventing kids (I wasn't on birth control but tracked my cycle via the Fertility Awareness Method - aka FAM), but if and when it happens, we'll figure it out. Therefore we were open to having kids, we just didn't WANT them in a specific time frame. I would say I was more against the idea of having kids. And I want to be very careful with my words here. I am simply sharing the most authentic story I can for myself in hopes that it helps other people (both men and women) feel less alone if they had or have similar feelings. Also, I have always been amazed by and think that motherhood, pregnancy, in the act of giving birth is miraculous. And believe it as a gift. It was just never some thing I saw clearly for myself. Let's lay out my situation. I am the breadwinner. And frankly my business has been my baby for the last seven years. Thinking about a child coming into that picture did not seem feasible to me. I couldn't visualize it working. I've never identified with any of the natural motherly tendencies or desires. You could say I have more masculine energy naturally. But the beautiful thing is, Nate is a stay at home husband and is fucking amazing with kids. They gravitate towards him. He's a big punching bag or cuddle bug, and a big kid at heart. He's a better cook than I am and he's hospitable AF. It's why we work. It's not that I am masculine and he is feminine. I want to make that very clear. We very much so respect rather traditional masculine and feminine roles while also letting each person pursue and express what we believe to be their natural gifts - I am task driven. He is relationally driven. Sooooo all that is to say - I am now, at 19 weeks stoked to raise a babe with Nathanael and trusting him has also allowed me to see myself in the motherly role that will make sense for me. That feeling is abundantly different than when I found out I was pregnant and two years leading up to it. From 2018 through 2021 my feelings around possibly becoming pregnant were 110% fear driven. That fact is clearer than ever now. From the fear of actual motherhood - bonding with the baby, balancing my work life, literally not getting to be as selfish as I was without children, to the literal act of labor, I avoided even thinking about the possibility because I was terrified of it all. Stick with me, because I don't fear these things now. I don't even fully know how to articulate it so I'll just tell you a short story for a visual. I started using Hilary Rushford's Elegant Excellence Goals Journal in 2018 or 2019. And she lays out that our future has multiple possibilities. So while laying out your 5 year plan can be all well and good, it might be beneficial to look at three possible outcomes for your 3-5 year vision.

A few weeks ago, I reviewed the intake survey from my fitsPROs inside FitsPRO Foundations - I do this quarterly or so to revisit my ideal client and their experiences. Where are they when they decide to enroll with me? How can I serve more humans in that stage of business? For instance, through this episode. There were a few common themes - and to be clear, these intake forms were from Jan 2021 to September 2021.  Content creation, finding and converting clients online, creating an offer and feeling confident in the price point, automating systems and processes - all of these came up repeatedly. And all of these are covered in depth inside my course. Go team. But also…the words “getting started” or “where to start” or “I have no idea where to begin” also came up time and time again. In one phrase or another. That feeling is real. And it's a BIG feeling. Before I enrolled in Marie Forleo's B school and Hilary Rushford's Instagram with Intention course back in 2015, I had my kitchen counter breakdown. If you've heard this story, it's worth hearing again, so stick with me. If you haven't, I am about to paint a VERY vivid picture of how I went from in person trainer to online trainer FOR REAL. Got my biz license 2014 for fit design by Annie. That was in person and online training. Even though I didn't have any online clients yet. I was using Instagram as my main platform. But I maybe had one to 300 followers at the time and no real direction with what I was doing. This was back in the days of only being able to share a single photo. If you wanted to share more than that it had to be in a grid. So if you look back almost every post in the beginning of my Instagram is a grid with a horrendous Instagram filter. And a super short caption. So, I was in a limbo period during 2014 - 2015. I was remodeling my kitchen to stay busy. I wasn't going to be a college strength coach, which is what I had devoted the last four years to doing. And I loved my in person clients but I really did want to be online. And saw potential there. I would say during that time I was borderline depressed. Simply because I lacked clear direction for the first time in my late teen to early adult life. Cue me staying busy with house projects. So as I was sitting on my kitchen counter drinking a not your fathers root beer and tearing up because of the lack of direction I had,

Talking reflection, goals and a 2020 recap. It's tradition for me to recap my year. I've always done it, since owning a business, but recently I started sharing that recap with all of you via the podcast. So here we are, rounding out one of the weirdest years in history. This year was a lot of things to a lot of people. That's why I say “weird.” Because weird quite literally means “not normal,” and that is the truth. I mention that because your year was different than my year. And different than any other listener's year. So my hope to simply share my recap of 2020, some questions I've asked and resources I used to reflect on this past year. Hands down, my fav way to recap my year is via Hilary Rushford's Year Reflection. It's pretty in depth, but so so so important for me to do. We straight up forget what happened. Even in the pandemic, even with it being an election year here in the US, we forget about the small wins, and processes we went through. We lose sight of the year, truly. My personal favorite part of reflection is that it forces you to focus intrinsically. To look at yourself - what you did, how you felt, relationships you have, what you're responsible for in your own life. I LOVE THIS. We can't blame. We can only look at what happened and what we did or didn't do. So, here we go. It's very important to keep in mind that I recognize how blessed I am to continue working through this year, to have stability, and the ability to pivot if needed. That is not at all lost on me. I share episodes like these to let you behind the scenes of Annie Miller Concepts in hopes that you gain something in a reflection/planning of your own. That my experience somehow helps you. Okay -  My reflection is always a mix of real life and business because they coexist. They affect one another. And it's silly to pretend that they don't. I am sure we all had goals at the beginning of 2020. Maybe those goals happened, maybe they were postponed. My personal goals were to travel the world for another year [January to June, and then September into Jan 2021] and to have our next phase planned in that time. What was the goal for AFTER we travel. You can imagine how that went with the ‘rona. We flew home from Japan in April, travels were suspended for year. They weren't indefinitely but we figured we'd be home through 2020 for sure. Our personal plan was to stay with my mom for that gap [from June to Sept] then figure out life after returning in 2021. Well, we're now living with my mom until our house is built. We quickly decided upon returning that we'd move forward with our “post travel” plan, look for land, and build. That was part of the 2020 goal we did know. After traveling, we wanted to have land and build. So like I said, we simply decided to start exploring that option…like, three weeks after we got home. We found a house plan we loved, and after looking at three separate 5 acre lots, we put an offer in on one and secured it. Yes, the Millers own a patch of grass as of September 2020. The same month we were meant to be galavanting around Northern Europe for a 5 month road trip, we tied ourselves to some dirt here in Washington. And our house plans are complete. We chose a different adventure. And so far, so good. That is how the personal goals went. We shifted. As for the business - This year I had a goal for BBA, a certain number. We came VERY CLOSE to hitting that number. And shoot, during a GLOBAL pandemic, I'll take it. I am honestly so so pleased with the way Built By Annie has prospered. Which we need to discuss because I definitely had to shift in 2020. Another business goal was to not create anything new. I'd spend the latter half of 2017 all the way through the end of 2019 literally creating my entire offer suite. In 2019 I vowed that 2020 would be my year of NOT CREATING. Of just launching stuff, and working on my approach/backend and scaling. Well,

Today's episode is one that you need to take with a grain of salt. These lessons are very personal to me, but may apply to you, so don't think that just because I found one of these distracting and un-useful, that it must be distracting and un-useful for you. Always stay true to you, your biz, and your gut, as much as you can. My five early lessons in biz (some useful, some distracting at the time but useful down the road) were: How to decide where to hireThe power of funnelsWhat SEO isCreate repeatable, multi-use contentThe need for email list building Let's start off with: How to decide where to hire I learned this during a course I took a year and a half into business but did not yet need. The course was Elegant Excellence by Hilary Rushford. I got it when I bought B School by Marie Forleo. But I was not ready for the Elegant Excellence course. This was for someone who had been sprinting in their biz, likely scaled and needed to become far more efficient. They needed space to breath, and stop working in their business, rather on it. That state is a very common one to find yourself in when building your biz. But I was just in the beginning stages. I didn't even know what a launch was. Let alone have the desire to work less in my biz. If we're being honest, I may have had a business license, but I didn't yet have a real business. In Elegant Excellence, Hilary and her team covered how to choose what position to delegate or hire first. That can be HUGE. It's been huge for me in hiring my assistant. She now manages all of BBA for me, among a million other things, so that I can put my time elsewhere. Hiring tends to do that. It keeps you, as the CEO in your zone of genius. If you don't know what that is, read The Big Leap. It's the book I read when we took off for world travels in May 2018. Seemed fitting. Back to hiring though. I know entrepreneurs who hire FAST, very early in their biz. They are delegation queens. And that's awesome. It was never and still is not my desire to manage people. I love my assistant because she is assertive, and I don't have to babysit her. That's what I need. And these are important things to know about yourself as an entrepreneur. My friend Joelle manages 5-6 coaches underneath her. That's her system. And it's how she scaled. She's amazing, and to be honest she has done it more successfully than I've seen. I scaled via automation and low overhead costs. To each his own. But this is about HOW TO DECIDE WHO, AND WHAT AREA TO HIRE FOR. This was informative that was not helpful then, but helpful three and half years down the road. You basically make a quadrant, four boxes within a big square. In the top left is your Joy + Genius (what you love doing, plus you're good at it.Top right is what you like doing but it's not your zone of genius, someone can do this better than you. For me - this is 100% web design. I LOVE designing my website. Always have. It's a creative outlet for me. People literally have full time jobs as web designers. Yet here I am, building mine from scratch, from day one, to now, five years in. It's just something I like doing. So I do it. Bottom left is Genius but you don't love it. You can do this, and do it well, but you would rather not.Bottom right is neither your genius or your source of joy. Meaning you're not good at it, and you hate doing it. Think taxes. Maybe not. I actually enjoy dealing with numbers. But for me, this is formatting and scheduling blog posts, or navigating Pinterest in order to drive traffic to my blog and freebie downloads. Before making your quadrants, you'd list out everything you do in your biz right now. All tasks on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Then drag them into your quadrants where they fit. Again, for me, creation would be in my genius + joy (I create the things - the programming, blog content, podcast content, canva workbooks), but the implementation of those things would be in my bottom le...

Transcript:Hi! Welcome to today’s training! Today, we are going to dive into branding for those of you that are reluctant to brand yourself. If that’s you, know that that’s me, too! When I first started my business, Genius Communication, Ltd Co, I branded my business, but it soon became apparent that I AM my brand! No one said, “Hey, you should call that lady over at Genius Communication.” It was ALWAYS, “Hey, you need to talk to Sherri Wilson.” But here was the problem: I’m an introvert, and while I didn’t mind my name being out there, I sure didn’t want my face out there! Until I learned this little nerdy fact—people like you the more they see your face. Of course, I totally rolled my eyes and dismissed it for a while. But I knew it was true. I mean, think about it. All of those influencers on Instagram that you love and feel like you know…how many times do you see their faces and even a glimpse into their personal lives? What about the brands that never show a face? Don’t you find yourself wondering what they look like? Now that alone can be used to your advantage.I follow an introvert that had herself in some of her photos but her face was always hidden. Just the curiosity of ever seeing her face kept me hooked! But I do believe I would’ve been disappointed if she ever included her face because that was part of the fun, the mystery. If that fits your brand and your business, go for it! Mystery is a great motivator in business!why do you buy lucky charms? When I used to eat cereal, I loved Lucky Charms, Cheerios, Fruit Loops, and Count Choculas. And I remember the day when generic cereal came on the market. I was like, “What the heck? No thanks!” And I was so poor back then, I was PO! I couldn’t even afford the OR! But there was no way I was going to buy generic cereal! Perish the thought! Why did I have such a strong reaction? Because all of those cereals were BRANDS! There was a connection and story with them along with a quality that I just wasn’t sure I’d get from the generic, which by the way, I did have some generic Lucky Charms eventually, and they weren’t as good as the real thing. The taste and texture was different. But the main idea is that we buy from brands we feel we truly know. Branding is a trust issue. So let’s get you some tips and ideas to help you assuming you’ve already developed your brand message and personality. If not, go to my Brand Personality Quiz and get started!tips and ideasMake a quality decision to put your face out there. If you don’t, you will keep making excuses.Plan on starting with at least two pics of yourself a week on your social media platform. These can be behind-the-scenes, at events, relaxing at home, enjoying a hobby—really anything that is consistent with your brand and creates a connection to your followers. Research how to pose, take the pics, and edit them. JasmineStar.com and JennaKutcher.com both have tons of blog posts that will help you with this. Quite frankly, it can be awkward and difficult to pose for shots, especially if you’re an introvert. Apply filters. This helps so much and allows you to brand your photos with the feel you’re wanting. If you look at CharCo on Instagram, they are neutral and moody. If you look at Hilary Rushford’s, hers are light, airy, and colorful. Use the copy to truly connect with your audience. Allow your personality and values to come out in your copy. By being your authentic self, you’ll connect with those of your tribe. If you just don’t feel you can pose for shots, hire a photographer that specializes in branding. It was one of the best decisions I made. A good brand photographer can pull you out of your shell and highlight your personality. If you can’t afford a brand photographer, hire a college student majoring in photography or a high school student that’s really good to grab some shots for your social media posts. But when it comes to your website, it’s worth the expense to hire a brand photographer. And if you simply refuse to post your face, then use the mystery of never showing it. Take a look at TheSlowTraveler and see how she does it.

The Incredible Power of Influence

Transcript:Hello! My name is Sherri Wilson, and I have to say how excited I am about today’s podcast because I’m about to give you an extremely powerful tool for change that most are oblivious to even though it’s everywhere— influence. If you’re a true entrepreneur, you are always seeking out ways to be better. Better in your business. Better in your marriage. Better as a parent. Better as a person. That’s just what we do. It’s a key entrepreneurial trait. And I’m sure you know that one of the best ways to see how jacked up you are is starting a business. Entrepreneurship can make or break you! Can I get an “amen?!”The other day I was brainstorming key things in my life that have caused exponential growth in me as a person and in my business. I immediately thought of my best friend Cindy and her positive influence in my life. She was key in helping me get out of my shell as an introvert. And then my hubby who allowed me to be me. He never tried to change me. And his confidence in me increased my confidence. And if you’re a parent, you know that being a parent is a crucible of influence unlike anything else. I mean, I was forced to become a better person because I was determined not to ruin my kid! As I sat there thinking, I saw a pattern—all of these were influences. And then I couldn’t help but think of my favorite Instagram influencers—Jenna Kutcher, Hilary Rushford, Amy Porterfield, Gary Vee, and Jasmine Star. All of these have powerfully helped shape my business; and, yet, I’ve never personally met them. That is the power of influence. WHAT IS INFLUENCE EXACTLY?Dictionary.com defines influence as “the capacity or power of persons or things to be a compelling force on or produce effects on the actions, behavior, opinions, etc., of others.” Influence can be good or bad. It’s like the wind. A gentle breeze is refreshing and helpful, but winds that are too strong are damaging. “Blessed is the influence of one true, loving human soul on another.” — George Eliot I’m sure you like me have been in relationships that weren’t a good influence and brought out the worst in us. And it’s easy to blame the other person. But I eventually learned that my lack of self-esteem was the real problem. I decided that I’d never give my power away and allow someone to make me worse instead of better. It also sparked in me a desire to ALWAYS make people better around me by bringing value everywhere I go.even good influence can be badFor example, I’m sure you’ve scrolled through Instagram admiring all of your favorite influencers and only to look at your Instagram compared to theirs and feel you will never measure up or get there. Comparison is when we allow what’s supposed to be a good influence turn bad due to our insecurities. Comparison is never a good idea. Years ago, I came to the conclusion that people want my normal because my normal is pretty awesome! I have gifts, skills, and knowledge that to me are no big deal but to others, they’re life-changing. Once I realized that, I was able to get comfortable in my own skin and in the influence I have with others. It was then that comparison became an everyone-once-in-a-while issue instead of daily. how to harness the power of influenceJust like wind can be harnessed for our benefit, so can influence. And often influence’s power is most effective when we are uncomfortable. Let me give you an example.Recently, a couple from our church let me know that their daughter was coming into town to visit. Of course, this was pre-COVID-19. I was super excited and asked if they were going to bring her to church. Yes, they were. That Sunday came and went with no daughter. At first I felt a mild irritation because a core value is for people to keep their word. But as the week went on, I could feel it growing into offense. I had thoughts like, “Are they embarrassed of our church? Of me? Are they afraid we’ll make their daughter uncomfortable? Did their daughter not want to come and talked them out of it?” By our Friday meeting, irritation had turned into a feeling of betrayal and disloyalty! I know! It’s ridiculous. I recognized some of what was going on and was fighting it without much success. Everyone started showing up at our next Friday meeting, including this couple (by this time their daughter had gone home). I felt awkward and weird around them. You know how it is. You’re offended but trying to act normal. We all sit down to eat before starting our Bible study, and they mentioned they were sorry they didn’t come to church so we could meet their daughter. I said, “Yeah, we were ALL disappointed.” The minute I said it I knew I was being petty. Who cares if they decided to stay home? They’re adults and can make their own decisions. Why was I letting it get to me? They had done nothing wrong. The rest of Friday night and all day Saturday, I struggled trying to understand what was going on in me. And I felt bad for making them feel bad. I had broken my personal decision to use my influence to make others better not worse! I knew I needed to apologize. I did that Sunday in front of everybody and confessed my struggle while assuring them that they did nothing wrong. Later that week I sat down with my journal and processed the why. I couldn’t stay upset because I valued them more than my personal right to be unreasonably fussy. My relationship with them forced me to be a better person. And that’s when this post was birthed. I saw how influence could make me a better person if I embraced being uncomfortable long enough to process areas where I was messed up. So here are two tips:Allow those you value in your life to influence you to be a better person. Don’t just accept negative feelings or dismiss them. Instead process them in light of how important their friendship is to you.Allow those you want to be like to influence you. This one can be tricky. It’s very easy to fall into comparison. The key is to stay authentic to who you are and celebrating those things while learning from the other person’s journey and wisdom. “It takes tremendous discipline to control the influence, the power you have over other people’s lives.” — Clint Eastwood I’d encourage you to think about the power of influence in your own life—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Learn from those lessons. And think about your influence on others. Is it helpful or hurtful? Once you analyze the power of influence in your own life, make a core decision to live your life in a way that influences others for the better.

QUARTER REVIEW + GOAL PLANNING. This is early - and I clearly haven't recapped my entire first quarter. But I have gathered all data thus far and started planning quarter 2. I really hate waiting to plan a quarter until I'm in it. If you're new here or I haven't mentioned it, I prefer to be a month or two ahead of schedule with as much as I can. That way I'm only doing real time work with things that have to be done real time. For instance during a launch, all the emails and posts and Canva images are done. The emails are pre-scheduled and all I'm doing is showing up in real time on social media and viewing my numbers. Therefore we're here, discussing quarter one and two while still in quarter one. If you don't use quarterly planning and you're an entrepreneur, I highly suggest it. This is something I wish I would have started way earlier in business. You don't need a complex business to benefit from quarterly planning. I use Amber McCue's Fresh Start planner for my more tactical biz planning. And then Hilary Rushford's Elegant Excellence journal for the life/emotional/dreaming aspect of business. I think emotional health and awareness + aligning your life and biz are very important. So that's where I do my actual quarterly, and monthly planning. As for quarter one of 2020 - we must discuss my annual goals because that's where the quarterly goals and markers come from. In quarter one so far, I'm am on track for my annual revenue goal which is lovely. This is the joy in tracking numbers and doing quarterly goals. Because if I wasn't on track for that goal, or any goal, I'd need to either change the goal, or determine how I'm going to reach the goal in the coming quarters. So we're on track for the annual revenue goal. If you don't have revenue goals, I also encourage you to make that. And then look at how that might happen - how much does your offer cost? How many would you need to sell? How many launches or pushes does that mean? And so on. It's a good practice to get into even if you're just starting out. In quarter one I also had a FitsPRO Foundations launch and a Built by Annie push, as well as down-sells from each of those. That simply means that I had an enrollment period for those main programs and then a promo of some kind for another supporting offer right after those bigger enrollment periods. Both of those launches went great and I want to dive into the context of those. Because it's important to look at going forward. I have launches coming in quarter two and the numbers and data from quarter one are useful to me in planning those Q2 launches. I straight up nailed the FitsPRO launch and down-sell to Instagram 101. It was my fourth or fifth launch of FitsPRO. Therefore I have data from 4-5 launches. I felt that I'd found the timing of what information to deliver when. But it was also the first week of the new year and that means people are ready to start something new. They're inspired to take action and sign up for things. Therefore I take that context into consideration. That's part of the process in business. You learn your seasons. When are people most willing and ready to buy? To invest? And to start a program? In tracking my numbers from that launch I was able to plan the next launch which will be this month. Emails have already started going out to the waitlist. I realize it's still quarter one but this launch will cross over into quarter two. I tried a new promo last round for a downsell to IG101 and that went VERY WELL, even better than expected. It was the first time doing that. So I do plan to do something similar for future launches. Just like last round, I'll track numbers and see how it goes. As far as Built by Annie goes - I reached my goal of getting a certain amount ladies in the doors. But I did something VERY different this round. So back in November I did a birthday month promo for four weeks. We call this a push vs a launch.

LETTING GOOD THINGS GO, FOR THE WIN. Today's episode is based in something that I've talked a lot about before, and that is the book Essentialism by Greg McKeown. I first read this book from an entrepreneurial standpoint, but I think the practice of essentialism is applicable to anyone and everyone. For me, the biggest take away from the book was this idea that in order to become an essentialist, you have to practice only saying Yes to things, people, and events that are a Hell Yes. And you basically say No to everything else. That makes sense and sounds good enough on the surface level, but when you dig a little deeper, Greg McKeown makes clear that that means saying No to things that might be a Yes, just not a Hell Yes. That means saying No to good things. Which is exactly where today's podcast episode comes from. Because I think it's a very important point to make when we get serious about deciding how we want to spend our time and how we might reach any goals that we have for ourselves, whether it be in life or in business. The daily practice of essentialism. Like anything you want to be good at, it's going to take effort on a weekly, if not daily basis. It will require you to be mindful of not only big decisions, but little decisions. And ideally these decisions are either leading you toward or away from whatever it is that you're trying to get to. So I do think it is equally as important to have some sort of direction. In fact I don't think you can really practice essentialism if you don't have some sort of goal or direction that you are trying to work toward. And I make the point that it is going to be a daily practice, because it's not easy to say No to things that would usually be a Yes. To say No to otherwise good things.  I've used this example before in my Instagram stories, but for a season of my business I completely stopped blogging, because it wasn't a Hell Yes for that season. I had a lot of other things that were at a higher priority for where I wanted to go and what my focus was for the given season of my life and business. Blogging is a great thing. It helps my audience, gives me exposure, and I enjoy doing it as a creative outlet. It's a “good thing”, but it was not a Hell Yes for my given season. Therefore it was a No. The same could be said for training really hard versus just moving my body and maintaining. There are seasons where pushing my body to new limits is a Hell Yes and there are seasons where that's a No. That doesn't mean that I don't work out at all, it just means that going hard in the paint is not a Hell Yes for the given time. Like I said, the practice of essentialism takes daily efforts and mindfulness. It's not easy to say No to things that are Yes typically. But the more you do it, the more you see how beneficial it is for your life and getting you where you want to go. I would also note that it's very freeing. It felt so good in that season of my business where I didn't blog to know that I could go back to blogging at any time. Just because it wasn't a Hell Yes for a month or two of my business didn't mean that I would never blog again. it didn't mean that it was forever a No. It just meant that for a given duration, it needed to be a No in order to create space for my Hell Yeses. It's definitely a struggle. Not an overnight thing. We're humans with feelings and passions and desires. While I am all about being multi passionate (look at Hilary Rushford, Jenna Kutcher, Joanna gains and Jordan Dooley). All doing all the things successfully. But they did them ONE. AT. A. TIME. I truly do believe you can do all the things, just not all at once. This is a pillar of Essentialism. It's literally the cover of the book. Instead of putting your efforts in 17 directions and getting nowhere fast, focus in on ONE or TWO directions and go ham. I'm sure you've heard this suggestion and logic in some way before.

YES TO LESS STRESS AROUND FINANCES & MONEY. Oh money. Something we all have. But rarely talk about. We have so many stigmas around money. We believe lies based on what we observed before age seven.  It's something we don't learn nearly enough about in school (in my opinion) and quite frankly we often allow it to have far too much power in our lives for better or worse. This is all magnifies if you happen to be an entrepreneur and are now managing not only your personal finances but also your business's. And imma just go out on a limb and say that most entrepreneurs are WINGING their finances with no clue if they're “doing it right.” I also don't fully blame them because there is truly no rule book on this. No clear cut road map that fits all businesses. Then you add our personal money mindset issues and limiting beliefs and we have a super ineffective foundation and system for finances. With all of this I have to make a disclaimer that I'm not a financial advisor or CPA. I'm not a money ANYTHING. I'm an entrepreneur who is navigating this all the same as you. But I do feel I have some helpful tips for you, and I want to talk transparently about money because I don't think money remains daunting or taboo when we bring it into the light. Then its power is taken away and it becomes another subject we can learn about, like anatomy, spirituality or language. Money is neutral. It's an exchange of energy. It is not good or bad in nature. And it's my personal belief that money simply magnifies our current state. If your spending habits are an impulsive shit show now, they'll just be a BIGGER impulsive shit show when you have more income. Soooo anyway, woah. Let's get into how to have less stress around money and finances.  Allow me to lay out some of my past money beliefs since you may or may not identify with them -  Money = stress when you don't have a lot. And money = greed when you have a lot. People who have a lot of money, who are rich, must be greedy and selfish.Money dictates feelings, your emotional state. Good or bad. Now I will say from a very young age I knew hard work did not equal money. My mom worked HARD. We delivered newspapers on the weekends, and stocked Little Debbies with her on top of working at Safeway. But we did NOT have an excess of money. EVER. I picked up on the fact that hard work didn't equal money very early in life. Which has always helped me look at efficiency FIRST. How can we make more by doing less and providing the same value? Nooowww the big one. My childhood drove me to want to make money and keep it all to myself. I knew I didn't like not having money. Therefore if I earned money, I was going to keep it to myself. No one was going to bring me back to those feelings as a child. Because of course I was terrified it would go away or it wouldn't last or there wouldn't be enough. This is not a great mindset folks. I don't suggest it. Now, perhaps you relate to some of those. Maybe yours are different. I probable have more I haven't realized yet. But no matter what this first tip will help you feel stress about money and finance. Read about it Become a student of money, and increase your financial literacy. Apply what you can. We feel left in the dark around money. We are clueless and uninformed, left only with our childhood beliefs around money. No wonder we experience stress around the subject. And it can be daunting to start because we often don't know where to start. My fav books for business are Profit First and You're a Badass at Making Money. I don't know of any for personal finance or money mindset specifically but know that following people like Hilary Rushford and Chloe from Deeper Than Money has been great for me.  I want you to see the possibility of being empowered around money, not trying to work a system or wing it, but truly being a good steward of money. The fact that the finances don't have to be a complete shit sho...

Transcript:I’ve wanted to do this podcast for a long time because this is one of the most life changing emotional intelligence techniques I’ve learned. It’s called “The 5 Why’s.” You might have heard me mention it or quickly go through it in past podcasts but I decided that this is such a good technique that I would devote an entire podcast to it.I first heard about this technique from a wonderful Instagram influencer and online course creator, Hilary Rushford. Jeff Bezos is the one who originally used it, I believe, after one of his employees hurt his hand in the conveyor belt. Instead of blaming the employee and moving on, he decided to find out WHY it happened. By following the 5 Why’s, he discovered a design flaw and fixed it. Here is how it works:Identify a problem, repetitive thought pattern or behavior, or any resistive behavior meaning you feel an inner resistance to do something you know you should. I’ll give examples in a bit. Next, ask the first why like, “Why do I FILL IN THE BLANK?” Or “Why do I keep putting this off?” Or “Why do I always react this way when this happens?” A business problem could be, “Why do I never have enough cash flow?” You might think it’s simple math but it might be a spending problem, poor management, or need for more clients. Then based on the answer to question #1, ask question #2 and so forth until you get to the fifth question and answer. It should be that the answer of the fifth WHY is like a light bulb of insight goes off in your brain that EMPOWERS you to make the necessary changes. Or if it’s an emotional intelligence issue, it should bring you the knowledge you need as to the why so you can stop it and change your behavior. If you get to the fifth why and there’s not any insight or breakthrough, you’re either asking the wrong questions or need to go deeper. And while we’re on emotional intelligence, I want to quickly define what that is: Self-awareness of your emotional state and the state of those around you. I.e. you know where you’re at emotionally and if your emotional state is negatively impacting others (being aware of their state). You can take it a tad further and by knowing the emotional state of others, adjust yourself accordingly. For example, if I meet with a client and she seems “off,” I’ll take a moment to make sure she’s ok. If she opens up to me that she’s struggling, I’ll offer to reschedule or help her as best I can if she’ll let me. I literally had this happen the other day. Personal responsibility. Too many people give their power to others meaning they allow others to affect their emotional state and decisions. You need to know where you begin and the other person ends and where the other person ends and you begin. Personal responsibility is owning your emotions, thoughts, and actions and not blaming others for them. It’s also not allowing others to steal that power from you.Inner motivation of self that isn’t stopped by external circumstances. I.e. you accomplish what you set out to accomplish IN SPITE of what’s going on in your life and without the need for others to cheer you on. In fact, you not only keep going, you keep going when others tell you that you CAN’T DO IT.Two ExamplesTo finish up, I want to share with you two specific times I used the 5 Why’s with amazing results. The first was in 2015, I believe. During that time, I was focused on learning about building wealth. I was learning what the Bible had to say about wealth, practical things about wealth, and working on emotional intelligence issues to uncover the why behind poor spending habits, lack of budgeting, etc.So I asked the first Why: 1. Why do I impulse buy?a. Because I feel good when I do.2. Why do I feel good buying things?a. Here a memory came up of when my dad was home (he was a truck driver) and he was always generous and bought me gifts. Nothing extravagant. But difficult relationships with step moms meant I was usually very unhappy when he was gone. So the answer was that I only felt happy when dad was home and he bought me gifts.3. Why did I only feel happy when dad was home?a. I knew it wasn’t because of the gifts. I just wanted to be with him. So my answer was, “Because I felt loved and accepted.”4. Why did I only feel loved and accepted when with him.a. I didn’t feel loved by my step moms. Now at this point I didn’t even need to go on. I now knew why I was impulse buying. The reality is that I am accepted and loved and don’t need to impulse purchase. From that moment on, I’ve filtered purchases through three criteria: Does it bring real joy? Is it a treasure? And is it excellent? The other example was my resistance to conduct live events at my local Chamber of Commerce. This one caught me off guard.I had attended a training at the Chamber, and we were instructed to partner up with another person there and meet that week to help each other work through a business/professional problem. I met with my friend, and we got to work. Hers was a personality issue at work and since I know personalities very well and teach on them, I helped her pretty quickly. Now it was my turn. At first I couldn’t think of anything and then I thought of my reluctance to hold live events. She asked me why and I told her that I was afraid no one would come. She thought that was silly because I had a good reputation already and helped people more than I realized. Suddenly my eyes teared up and I had a memory of when I was 11 years old and invited my friends to my a birthday party, but no one showed up. I knew that was the key so I went home and did a five why. And here is where it’s crucial to ask the right questions. Instead of asking why that bothered me so much, which is not the question I needed to ask, I asked why no one came. After going through each why I understood I’d targeted the wrong market! I’d invited the “cool” kids, the kids I WANTED to be friends with instead of my real friends. Of course, they didn’t come. I’d also treated my real friends badly. It wasn’t that I didn’t have anything of value to give others or that there was some type of defect in me. It was that I had targeted the wrong people, a basic marketing mistake! So I scheduled the first lunch and learn and haven’t looked back since. It’s one of the most attended training events at the Chamber. There ya go. The five why’s. I’d love to hear how it’s helped you in either your personal or professional life. Don’t hesitate to contact me. If you run into obstacles, let me know. I’d love to help! Text me at 575-693-6702!

You need to have a FRAMEWORK you can use to clarify your message, so customers listen.    STORY is a great framework for getting your customers to pay attention and its a great way for you to clarify your message when talking to potential customers.  The average brain spends about 30% of their time daydreaming, except when they are engaged in a story. Story is the greatest weapon we must combat noise because it organizes information in such a way that people are compelled to listen.    3.You are not the hero of the story This is a big paradigm shift for many business owners who feel that they are there to save the day, solve their client’s big problems etc. But if you think about it - heroes are not the strongest character in a story - they must go through a challenge. The GUIDE, however, is the one with the most authority. You story - and you marketing messages MUST focus on the hero's journey and solving their problems.

Episode 16 of The FitsPRO Podcast is all about my first experience with quarterly planning in regards to my business. Although I've technically owned a business for four years, I NEVER did quarterly planning. In fact I'd never really heard of it until November 2018 when my friend Paige brought Amber McCue's Fresh Start Workbook and Planner to my attention. I always did Hilary Rushford's yearly review + planning workshop and LOVE IT. But this quarterly planning sounded like just the thing I was looking for heading into 2019. Which would be my first year FULLY self employed. I believe Amber's workbook is $37 or it was at the time. But there are TONS of options when it comes to quarterly planners. Amber's was downloadable which worked perfect for me as we were traveling the world. But if I was stateside I'd 100% get a pen and paper 90 day planner for entrepreneurs. So if you too love putting your pen to physical paper, I would either get Amber's workbook and PRINT IT OUT, or do some research and find on that suits your fancy. The planner itself is of less importance than your intent and ability to IMPLEMENT the actual planning. This is where the magic happens. This is where MY MAGIC happened in quarter 1 of 2019. I reached goals, I didn't reach goals, I realized A LOT of things, and I'll get better and better each quarter. I even use 30, 60, and 90 planning inside FitsPRO Foundations because it was so effective for me, I couldn't possibly keep it from my students. And I truly believe if I would have started quarterly planning earlier on in my business journey, I would have grown faster + learned a lot about myself. So whether you've been in the world of business for a hot minute, or you're a newb...I highly suggest you give this episode a listen, and start quarterly planning NOW. “Changing our beliefs can have a powerful impact. The growth mindset creates a powerful passion for learning. “Why waste time proving over and over how great you are, when you could be getting better?” This is a statement from Carol Dweck, author of the bestselling book Mindset. A leading expert in the field of motivation, her research has demonstrated the role of mindsets in students’ achievement and has shown how praise for intelligence can undermine motivation and learning. So let me ask you a question right now: Do you have a fixed or a growth mindset? Your answer to this will define how you go about learning and reaching your human potential. If you’ve often struggled to improve and the act of learning is not something you enjoy, then listen in to this short summary of the first key idea in Carol’s book by OnePercentBetter: “Mindset was written by Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck. Her decades of research on achievement and success led her to discover what great parents, teachers, CEOs and athletes already know. That our mindset is the basis of accomplishment. Lesson 1: The Two Mindsets People with the fixed mindset believe intelligence can't be changed. This leads to a desire to look smart so they avoid challenges. They don't want to look bad if they fail which holds them back. In the face of obstacles they get defensive or give up easily. They say effort is pointless and believe that people are only great at things because they were born with special talents. When confronted with constructive criticism they ignore it. Lastly, they feel threatened by the success of others. People with a fixed mindset achieve less than they are capable of. On the other hand, people with the growth mindset believe intelligence can be developed. This leads to a desire to learn so instead of avoiding challenges, they embrace them. They persist in the face of obstacles and see effort as a path to mastery. They accept constructive criticism and use it to their advantage. Lastly, they feel inspired by and learn from the success of others. As a result, they fulfill their ultimate potential.” Fascinating right? Yet how often do we just assume we’re not smart enough or good enough based on the stories we’ve told ourselves all our life, vs looking at whether we have a fixed mindset that’s caused this? As Carol says in her book: "Why hide deficiencies instead of overcoming them? Why look for friends or partners who will just shore up your self-esteem instead of ones who will also challenge you to grow? And why seek out the tried and true, instead of experiences that will stretch you? The passion for stretching yourself and sticking to it, even (or especially) when it’s not going well, is the hallmark of the growth mindset. This is the mindset that allows people to thrive during some of the most challenging times in their lives." I wanted to share this as we come to the end of Season 3 which has been all about learning, because I think it’s critical to the role of learning in our lives, and more importantly, our enjoyment of it. Right now I have around seven courses - yes seven, that I have invested in or enrolled in for free through some of the online learning platforms I discussed in the previous episode How to Learn More In Less Time. Like most of us, I will often buy a course and then sit on it for months. Unlike many people I talk to though, I will dive into these when I most need them. I made a conscious effort on my business sabbatical to really make progress thought, setting myself deadlines to do them in, or simply tuning into them at the right time - i.e when I needed them most. So right now I’ve finally dived into Instagram with Intention that I bought from Hilary Rushford three months ago - because I love Instagram but don’t use it effectively for business and want to give it a damn good crack. I’ll be diving back into Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula, as I go into producing some new courses, or what I prefer to call LIVE experiences to help my community tackle areas in their business and actually DO the work like my upcoming Freedom Lab on making your first hire and building your dream team. I want to refresh my memory on some of his great tactics for interest building in the lead up to a launch. Even though I’ve done several over the years, you ALWAYS learn something new on every launch. Both of these courses are for my business growth and learning - that’s how I categorize them. I’ve been enjoying videos on The Wealthy Mindset by Tim and Kris Hallbom who concept of the Universal Cycles of Change I discussed in "When Too Much Change is Dangerous". Going through these videos (often in the evening or weekends) is for my personal growth learning, and they’re helping me look at my habits and mindset with a new pair of eyes.   Along with this I’m finishing the Code of the Extraordinary Mind by Vishen Lakhiani and there’s a course that comes with it I will dive into next - part business and very much mindset and rewiring your brain - so again personal growth. I have Dr Libby’s latest book, all about eating the right food for you and knowing how to optimize your body and mind through what you consume. That for me is learning to improve my health. I wanted to give you a taster of how I learn, as I fit this into around content creation, course creation, mentoring calls, working on the property and that very important thing called everyday life! Now I want to share a few of my personal hacks for learning, in addition to those in my most recent podcast and post on on How to Learn Anything Faster. Hacks for Learning More Schedule learning into your calendar so it becomes an event you make time for and has a deadline (a recurring calendar entry is even better) Watch videos you learn from at 1.5-2 X the speed - click the settings icon or cog on most video players to speed it up. As I come off my 3 month business sabbatical, I realized that you can have a little sabbatical every single day of your life. Through practicing what I talked about in Season 1, Mindfulness, Meditation, breathing and I am right now studying “The Science of Happiness” through edX which is an awesome online platform of amazing courses from incredible universities around the world. I am actually going to be revisiting a lot of what I spoke about in Season 1 back before I knew so little and now I’ve learned so much. It has absolutely opened my mind how every single day it’s the little things that you do in 10, 20 or 30 minutes of time that all radically change how you feel and how much more freedom you have. In this episode, I am going to talk about a daily freedom routine because I think it’s really important. Before I jump into that I just want to share with you a snippet from Hilary Rushford of The Elegant Excellence who went on a sabbatical about a year ago for three months as well. This is a one snippet from her video where she was talking about the fact that there was never going to be another time like now when she’d have all this time to read, relax, chill out and learn. And when I first listened to it I was like, “Yeah I think you are right!”, but now having been on a sabbatical when I have all the time to read, relax and learn you still don’t because it is a journey. It is ongoing. It is an everyday commitment to being your best self, to giving yourself the space and time to be. Here is the snippet and her insights are really useful: “I've now built what is now over a million dollar revenue a year business in the first five years. And for me, 3 months into sabbatical I just realized, I am not doing the things that I wanted to do. I am not changing in the ways that I wanted to change. There's still those things on my list where "I am wishing that I have more time to do" things and here I am on sabbatical, one of the most times ever. And so I really just started to dive in and explore why are we not doing these things? And I think one big reason for me is that I have these visions of "It's got to be done perfect. It's got to be this epic change. It's got to be hours of a week. I've got to commit to it now for every single day for eternity". That's wonderful but it so rarely happens. And so challenging myself to just take 10 minutes a day. Commit just 10 days and to not do things in some perfect epic change but just something, just take a step. Make a small step towards what I think is the biggest game changer that not enough people talk about in business which is you as a CEO, your joy, your peace, your rest, your emotional health, your ability to make big decisions, your ability to tune into your gut and what you really want. And I think the reality is that so many of us are exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, unhappy. We want this to be just a little bit easier but we are not actually doing the steps to make the change.” And then recently I received an email from Suzi Dafnis who owns herbusiness.com and she said this: Since starting my business 23 years ago, I’ve been given lots of advice. And, one of the best pieces of advice I ever got was to hit the “pause button”. What? Wasn’t I meant to be hustling? Pushing? Striving? Nope. There have been times where what I really needed to do, was pause. Pausing is not stopping. Pausing is simply taking time to reflect, recharge and renew - free from distractions and free from the daily push and pull of commitments and catering to others’ expectations. In his book Thank You for Being Late, the New York Times best-selling author, Thomas Friedman writes: "... opting to pause and reflect, rather than panic or withdraw, is a necessity. It is not a luxury or a distraction — it is a way to increase the odds that you’ll better understand, and engage productively with, the world around you." 'When you press the pause button on a machine, it stops. But when you press the pause button on human beings they start,' argues my friend and teacher Dov Seidman, CEO of LRN, which advises global businesses on ethics and leadership. You start to reflect, you start to rethink your assumptions, you start to reimagine what is possible and, most importantly, you start to reconnect with your most deeply held beliefs. Once you’ve done that, you can begin to reimagine a better path.” Choosing to pause has been hard. Up front, it's felt expensive and like an investment I couldn't afford. I had so much to do, so many commitments and deadlines. Looking back, I know that had I not made the investment in pausing, I would not be where I am today. I would not have made important pivots and changes that have allowed me to stay in business, to continue to evolve, to keep loving my business — and to stay relevant and producing results. This October I am taking time out to 'pause' once again. Thank you Suzy for those wonderful wise words! That’s exactly what I’ve found on this business sabbatical where little times business-y things would creep back in where I am tempted to check on email or how things were going. But when I wasn’t and when I was just being, enjoying and learning, I was back in my creative zone. I have had so many wonderful thoughts, ideas and improvements that I want to make. I’ve got my mojo back for my business! And I’ve also got a whole new perspective on it that I just couldn’t see before I took a break because I wasn’t giving myself space to pause, reflect and observe. I also spoke to my friend Colin Wright recently of Exile Lifestyle, who like me for so many years has lived out of the suitcase, travelled the world and every 3 months he lets his community choose where he is going to travel next. I had emailed him about my Suitcase Entrepreneur book and updating his story in it since the third edition is coming out in September. Woohoo!   A post shared by Natalie Sisson (@nataliesisson) on May 12, 2017 at 2:45pm PDT   Anyway, he told me what he’s been up to and I was really really blown away but also super excited for him. Here’s what he said: “I've been meaning to learn to cook for years, and finally got around to doing that; have made every meal for almost a year and am loving it as a craft. I've also wanted to learn to play the piano, and to learn some music production skills to go along with the guitaring and singing I've always done, so that's also been quite rewarding. Beyond that, I wanted to do really, truly boring things, like buy furniture, because I haven't done so since 2009. I haven't owned a car in all the time, and I was curious how I would use such things, and live such a life, now that I've done so many other things and been so many other places. Getting mail is a novelty, as is having reliable and consistent internet access and electricity. So bizarre how much cultural understanding is dependent on having these things. So many things I could understand intellectually, but not really get. I do get them now, though, to some degree. I'm sure you can relate to that — do anything long enough, and it becomes a little bit predictable. And the one thing I kept coming back to that scared me a little was holding still in one place for a bit, buying my own furniture, and owning a car. Weird, but the concept was mildly frightening to me. So, of course, I had to do it :)” So I just love that people around me are doing what they need to do to pause, to reflect, to recharge, to re energize, to take these many sabbaticals from not only their business but their everyday life. So if you are like, “Natalie, I can’t take three months off!” Well, first off, I challenge you, you should be able to. It’s your life. You get to choose. And I appreciate other things get in the way, you might have commitments and family but instead today I am offering you up a few doses of daily freedom routines that you can include to have a more simplistic, beautiful day and those little moments to yourself. I got some of my freedomists and my Freedom Plan community to share some of their routines. The first is from Fiona Hall: “My freedom chores in the morning I journal three questions. This helps me get my mind see it really fresh and ready for the day. The first question I ask is what am I curious about? That’s from Elizabeth Gilbert's book “Big Magic”. I love that question. It gets my mind into problem-solving mind and I always come up with something new and exciting for myself. The next question I ask is how am I feeling? Because if I don’t acknowledge how I am feeling and I am not feeling that good, it really impacts on my productivity, on my fun, on my ability to deal with my children first thing in the morning. And then the last question I ask is a productivity question it is what actions am I going to take today? And because of those first two questions I find the action one as really simple. I’ve worked through what am I curious about, what am I feeling and process anything that I need to process until I am ready for the day and my mind is how I need it today. And the other things I do in  terms of exercise as I try to is 30 minute walk 3-4 times a week.” This next one is from Ricardo Ferreira: “I ride a bike everywhere.I think it’s one of the ultimate expressions of freedom. You can go almost anywhere on a bike. You can be fast or take your time and you're free to stop whenever and wherever you wish. It’s on a bike that you start thinking more about enjoying the journey and concerning less about the destination.” What about this one from Sif, the vet: “Working in my little garden. I love to take a break from the computer and go outside work in the garden, dig in the dirt, rearrange things and plant seeds and watch the flowers and the vegetables grow. I really love the feeling of growing some of my own food which makes me feel extra free. And this is what I do to be calm everyday because you have to work in the garden everyday.” Here’s Stephanie McGuirt freedom routine for her inbox: “My daily productivity tip or routine would be to use an extension, it’s a Chrome extension by Baydin called Inbox Pause and that actually does like it says it stops messages from coming into your inbox until you unpause your inbox or unless you have them scheduled to come in at certain times. So I know that at 9am and 3pm everyday, I will get all of my messages that have been sent outside those times and I can focus on them for the next 30 minutes or hour and outside of 9am and 3pm, I am focused on other tasks. So it has really increased my productivity and I highly recommend it for anyone that is overwhelmed by their inbox.” So I hope that you learned a lot from these lovely people who offered up simple, little tactics related to business and life that they are doing to create more time, space and freedom. Of course I have a ton more of my own I talk a lot about them in the Freedom Plan. On my business sabbatical, I thought of so many improvements to my signature program and just how much more amazing I can make it for you to really truly learn how to reclaim your time, make more money, work less, earn more and be free. I hope you tune in to the next episode we are still on a digital sabbatical and the business sabbatical theme and how you can incorporate this in your life. Today's episode features Hilary Rushford - style blogger, stylist, and now entrepreneurial guide + strategist...and author! This lovely has so much energy and insight to give, even seasoned business owners have something to learn here. What I think I like most about Hilary is her story and how real it is--the journey of discovering the corporate life was not for her and how she went on a mega self-learning business school pilgrimage to figure it all out.  She's driven, smart, and really funny too! Here's what you'll learn in this episode: How to and how to NOT launch a book How far in advance did Hilary started prepping for the launch The exact launch team that evolved during the launch + who she wishes she would've hired first Why she chose to do an interview series + a blog tour as her prelaunch content What she'd do differently if she could do it again The types of products she sells + how she manages to serve two often different audiences And...we crack the case and share our favorite brands (clothes, people) and why
