Like most of us, I like to think I'm basically a “good guy”. I try and do the right thing by people most of the time in my own mind. And this is pretty common for all of us in 21 st century life; we assume that all people are basically good, that our kids are naturally good, even our pets! But something hit earlier in the year as I prepared for Good Shepherd Chapel - something profound that stretches all the way back to the Protestant Reformation - life is like an arcade game… Pastor Stephen Abraham Bible Reading: Psalm 51.1-5 (NLT) and Romans 7.14-25 (NLT)

Life Lessons and Tales of Little MisFit: LIFE IS LIKE A FOUNTAIN - IT HAS ITS UPS (Opportunities and Successes) AND DOWNS (Disappointments and Failures) by Dr. S.K. GruninIn Life Lessons and Tales of Little MisFit - Book 1: "Life Isn't Always What It Seems," we are introduced to the main character Ivy Sue Klutz (Little MisFit - LMF) - as she narrates her first memory at the age of three and ties it in to Lesson 1, Life Isn't Always What It Seems. The book continues using humorous tales about Lesson 1 through her fourth year of primary school where we leave her. Book 2 picks up with LMF starting her next year of school at the age of ten and learning through humor the next Life Lesson that "Life Isn't Always Fair."In Book 3, Ivy Sue Klutz (Little MisFit - LMF) begins her most challenging years of her life - ages 11-15 or Middle School into High School. Where we last saw Little Misfit, she was fishing with her family the weekend before she started 6 th grade. She was about to turn 11 years old. She was having the time of her life. In Book 3, she learns another important Life Lesson: Life Is Like a Fountain- It Has Its Ups (opportunities/successes) and Downs (disappointments/failures). Through these humorous tales we see just how LMF learns to handle both "Ups" and Downs" in her life. This book shows "betweeners' - ages 11-12 and young teens ages 13-15, how LMF began to prepare for the most challenging times of her young life. In this book we see how Little MisFit copes with the limited means of her family while she attended middle and high schools. Furthermore, we she that she was not allowed to take certain classes (woodshop) or have opportunities to play sports in school or attend events that she was invited to. Yet, LMF overcomes those and other challenges - changes in body and bullying, and learns to find, value and celebrate the Ups - opportunities and successes. Adriano Zumbo is a chef and TV presenter. He is one of Australia's most celebrated pâtissiers and the star of the Netflix TV shows Zumbo's Just Desserts and Sugar Rush. As a popular figure in the pastry world he has garnered many nicknames including, ‘The Sweet Assassin', ‘Pâtissier of Pain, ‘Dark Lord of the Pastry Kitchen' and has been lauded as ‘Australia's answer to Willy Wonka'. Adriano is a regular guest judge on MasterChef Australia and has appeared on Dessert Masters on Network 10. This country boy's first taste of the sweet life was raiding the lollies and cake mix from his parent's Coonamble supermarket. Adriano began his apprenticeship at the age of 15 where his love affair with pastry flourished. An appearance on the first series of MasterChef Australia was instrumental in introducing the croquembouche to an even wider audience and made Adriano – and macarons – a household name. Adriano has released three bestselling cookbooks, has competed in several prominent international competitions including Coupe de Monde and the Asian Pastry Cup. It is, however, his love affair with confectionery, combined with his Parisian training at institutions that include l'Ecole Lenôtre, Bellouet and Pierre Hermé and which has resulted in a sensibility as delicious as it is irreverent. Adriano is a favourite on the international events circuit traveling to India, Indonesia, Mexico, South America and Malaysia demonstrating his sweet skills to an audience of devotees. Creativity is evident in every layer of Adriano's elaborate desserts. Constantly evolving and always considering his next move, cake, or idea, Adriano's infectious energy keeps his fans on their toes. They love it that way, and so does he. We chat about the creativity, loss of his businesses and the toll it took, his love of creating, crazy macaroons flavours, stress and cooking, getting on TV & MasterChef, tailored needs of the school system plus plenty more! In this engaging episode, Scott Smith explores the fascinating parallel between life and jigsaw puzzles. Unlike puzzles that come with a picture on the box and all the pieces inside, life doesn't provide us with such clear instructions. Scott shares personal stories about his grandson's puzzle competition and his father's paint-by-numbers hobby to illustrate how we approach life's challenges. Through these analogies, Scott reveals that success isn't about racing to finish first or staying perfectly within the lines. Instead, it's about understanding your current view, developing necessary skills, and recognizing when timing is right for your next move. Featured Story: Scott recalls his father's dedicated paint-by-numbers hobby in the laundry room "man cave." This story illustrates how we often try to follow predetermined patterns in life, but reality rarely matches the picture on the box. Sometimes, the best approach is finding your own way while maintaining awareness of your direction. Key Takeaways: Life, unlike puzzles, doesn't come with a complete picture or all the pieces upfront Success requires zooming in from the 30,000-foot view to understand what's really happening Developing skills takes time and consistent effort Timing plays a crucial role in achieving your goals Facing scary situations is necessary for growth Focus on developing specific skills rather than trying to master everything Memorable Quotes: "Today's the day to start. Not yesterday and not tomorrow." "The more you do that, the better off you're going to be." "Take your time and learn." Scott's Three-Step Approach: Zoom in and become aware of what's really happening in your situation Work on developing specific skills needed for your goals Give yourself time to gain experience and wisdom while staying focused on what matters Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify Email: support@motivationtomove.com Visit: https://www.faceyourpassion.com/ Learn More: https://www.9minuteclaritycode.com/ Visit: https://www.perfectweekplanner.com/ Learn More: https://www.dailyawarenessdiary.com/ Learn more about your ad choices.
