Getting to YES boils down to two things: Saying the right things and saying those things consistently. What if you could spend time with leaders from all walks of life, ask them about their successes, mistakes, and lessons learned in influence, persuasion, and getting others to say ”yes” -- and then take an insight or two to help you achieve greater things? That’s what we do here on the Getting To YES podcast. Brought to you by Dr. Uli Iserloh, a marketing strategist (and former scientist), Uli invites you to the most thought-provoking and insightful conversations on persuasion, influence and how the brain makes decisions so you can get the highest buy-in from those around you and soar far beyond your goals.

038: Building Your Dream Practice With Jennifer Wheeler

How do you build your dream practice? That's the question we're exploring in the latest episode of Getting To YES – examining the key ingredients needed to create a practice that you feel passionate about, that lights you up, and that supports how you want to live your life. As you will discover in my conversation with Jennifer Wheeler, there's a smarter approach to either launch your first practice or reinvent your existing practice... without years of trial-and-error. For those that don't know Jennifer Wheeler, she's the founder and CEO of MNDSHFT Health - a practice aligned around high-level functional medicine programs. A family nurse practitioner and clinical physiologist by training, Jennifer completed advanced studies with the Institute for Functional Medicine and the School of Applied Functional Medicine – and she's also mentoring countless practitioners on how to create a dream practice that's aligned with the practitioner's values. Listen in to learn: Her advice to her younger self... on how to build with intention, creating a practice that integrates & supports how you want to live How to decide between a lower-volume boutique-style practice vs. a higher-volume conventional practice The importance of setting up the practice for "flow"... with streamlined systems, processes and programs How to pick your strategy to attract your ideal dream clients The mindset shift needed to evolve from "selling" to "serving" – and the critical importance to define your vision, values and beliefs. The importance of mentorship – and how to decide whether a more intimate 1:1 mentorship or group coaching is what you need Quotes We have to create a practice that's built upon what we value, what we're good at, what we're passionate about teaching. (09:17 | 09:27 Jennifer) As a practitioner, you can start a practice that's higher, or somewhere in the middle, or that's smaller volume. And whether which road you choose to go down is going to be based upon what your vision is, what you wanna bring to life. (10:54 | 11:08 Jennifer) The important thing to the success of creating the practice is honing in on the vision. And the vision is always gonna be grounded in who you are, what you value, & what you're good at. (11:32 | 11:47 Jennifer) Decide what you value, what you wanna create, and then move forward with the choice to honor that. Online summits have been a proven vehicle to grow your email list, connect with influencers, build your authority, and generate revenue! Personally, I've been involved in a number of summits, including the first ever summit on Cannabis back in 2017 - where we enrolled more than 250,000 registrations and generated over 3 million dollars in about a month. Yet virtual summits can work just as well on a much smaller scale, and that's what I invited Dr. Mark T Wade on the podcast – to share what health practitioners need to consider when it comes to one-day summits. For those that don't know Dr. Mark, he's the founder of Virtual Summits Software and the visionary behind the evolution of summits over the last decade - having created six, seven and multi-seven figure companies using virtual summits.  Listen in to learn: The basic structure of online summits, and some of the success stories from health practitioners Why a smaller, more engaged list can be more profitable than a larger, less engaged one – and how this principle applies to virtual summits How the One-Day Summit Formula helps health practitioners attract engaged and quality leads into their community The importance of alignment in solving a singular problem throughout the customer journey, with specific examples of one-day summits How the role of virtual summits is likely evolving in the future, especially considering the rapid changes in the digital landscape Quotes “You don't need tens of thousands of people to be successful- whether it's financially or with impact and service. You need qualified and engaged people.” (09:05 | 09:15 Mark) “As healthcare professionals, referrals are very important. Why not reach out to the person who's best suited to send you referrals ongoing because you are giving them an opportunity to be on your summit as well as an opportunity to get to know you.” (15:46 | 16:10 Mark) “There are really no bad topics. The only mistake you can make is doing a topic that doesn't align with your product, program, or services.” (21:26 | 21:33 Mark) “When you get specific on your problem, you can get specific on the topic, which is gonna be specific with the information, which is gonna show the people who are listening that you're the expert and you know what you're talking about.” (24:07 | 24:18 Mark) “The goal is relationship-building because now that we have the relationship, we can move to the next step, which is monetization.” (27:38 | 27:45 Mark)   Connect with Dr. Mark Wade: Website Podcast Facebook Facebook Instagram Twitter YouTube   ====    Thank You For Listening! In today's episode with Scott Rattigan, co-founder of Origins Incubator and Functional Lawyer, we're unpacking what it takes to launch and grow a successful private practice in the integrative and functional medicine space. Along with his wife Linda - a board certified family medicine DO, they grew a successful private practice at Origins Functional Medicine - learning firsthand what goes into running a successful practice…  ... and that experience in turn led to the creation of Origins Incubator, a mentorship program for health practitioners looking to strike out on their own. So whether you're looking to start a practice from scratch or you're already in business for a while, today's episode carries a lot of nuggets! Personally, I've known Scott since 2015 when he joined the Evolution of Medicine team – and over the years, he's made many valuable contributions to our ecosystem... ... whether it's through his book "The Practice Of Telemedicine" - the quintessential guide to navigating the legal landscape – or through his educational videos. Quotes “One of our core values is, it's not a quick fix. It's not a magic pill.  It'll still take work. Leverage your time to get the most bang for your buck.” (09:44 | Scott) “Most of the things that keep people from growing or progressing are mental.” (13:54 | Scott) “When you reach a certain level of removing all the barriers in the physical person's body,  then some of the trauma or the emotional things will come up that were buried for a long time.” (19:20 | Scott) “It really is about you and your story, because people will identify with your story. 035: How To Better Coach Patients With Andrea Nakayama

There's a lot of overwhelm when patients experience health challenges… and oftentimes, health practitioners unknowingly add to the overwhelm. In their quest to identify and resolve the underlying root causes for a patient, health practitioners frequently jump straight to protocols and treatment – without allowing enough time for a patient to “get ready” for treatment. In this episode with Andrea Nakayama, one of the leading functional nutritionists in the world,  we'll unpack how health practitioners can better coach their prospective clients or patients to a decision to seek professional help. As the host of the 15-Minute Matrix Podcast and the founder of Functional Nutrition Alliance, Andrea has been leading thousands of students and practitioners around the globe in a revolution to offer better solutions to the growing chronic illness epidemic.  After losing her young husband to a brain tumor in 2002, she discovered a passion for using food as personalized medicine and is now regularly consulted as the nutrition expert for the toughest clinical cases in the practices of many world-renowned doctors. You'll learn why we need to prioritize cultural competency, trauma-informed care, and patient education when working with clients – and why it's so critical to focus on the three root factors of genetics, digestion, and inflammation Plus, we discussed the importance of a true therapeutic partnership, understanding that the patient is the other expert in the room, and that practitioners should focus on educating them on why they are making the recommendations they are, creating a more sustainable approach to health. Quotes “We have to slow our role as practitioners and recognize this is about the person. We're not fixing them. It's not our job to fix them. Patients are coming in feeling broken.” (10:28-10:41 | Andrea) “So what I also find in the world of trauma out there is a lot of patients are looking for the root. We have to actually change where the roots live, which is in the soil, in the terrain.” (13:31-14:11 | Andrea) “I invite people to sit in that discomfort. That's where we learn, that's where we grow, and that's how we serve.” (21:25-21:33 | Andrea) “I'm just gonna remind people, yes, everything is connected, but who we are and what we do also informs what's happening in the body.” (27:07-27:18 | Andrea)   Connect with Andrea Nakayama: Website: https://www.andreanakayama.com/ Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/15-minute-matrix/id1325256647 Twitter: https://twitter.com/AndreaNakayama Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/andreanakayama/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ReplenishPDX Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AndreaNakayama.page Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andreanakayama/ Substack: https://andreanakayama.substack.com/   ====    Thank You For Listening! Steve Reiter shares in this episode what let him to create the NEVER ALONE project... and the legislation he's currently fighting for in Washington and across the US.   Quotes “As guys, we wanna fix it. It's inherent in our nature. We're fixers and we wanna do, it's the most helpless feeling for a guy to have a wife that is just chronically ill.” (09:39-09:49 | Steve) “I would mentally look back at my day and say, "Did I love my wife to the best of my abilities?" And if I didn't, I'm setting my intention tomorrow to do an even better job. So that way, no regrets.” (13:10-13:25 | Steve) “There are hundreds of studies that talk about the dangers of loneliness and isolation– decreasing health outcomes. And how having a loved one there aids in the healing process– increases health outcomes.” (18:05-18:19 | Steve) “I created The Never Alone Project because patients should have the right to one loved-one per day, no time limits, and it needs to be written into federal law because it is not the job of the nurse.” (22:42-28:25 | Steve)   Links Connect with Steve Reiter: Website: http://rightturn.media/ Website: https://www.neveralonepandemic.org/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/neveralonepandemic Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/neveralonepandemic/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/reitersteve/ Twitter:https://twitter.com/stevereiter59   ====    Thank You For Listening! 033: The Organized Entrepreneur: Building Systems for a Balanced Life With Chelsea Brinkley

“To change your results, you must change your systems. Success is merely a series of systems working together.” (T Harv Ecker) Putting systems in place may not sound sexy, but it sure does make life a lot easier. Yet the majority of entrepreneurs struggle with project management and file organization, which in turn needlessly drain their cognitive reserves…. forcing them to fly by the seat of their pants! So in this podcast episode with Chelsea Brinkley, an in-demand consultant for entrepreneurs who want to get their systems and processes on track and more organized, we're unpacking what it takes to become an “organized” entrepreneur. Chelsea believes that it is crucial for entrepreneurs to have systems in place so they can get their time back, stop feeling overwhelmed, and help them monetize more. Chelsea's background as an executive assistant for a multimillion dollar company led her to discover the missing link of having systems and processes in place in order to delegate tasks.  Common challenges that entrepreneurs face include missing project management and file organization systems, both of which can lead to disastrous consequences. Chelsea emphasizes the importance of having a cloud software program to keep all of their files organized and concise, and to have a good project management system in place. During the episode, we also talked about Chelsea's favorite software tools she can't live without, and other helpful tips she's recommending for entrepreneurs looking to communicate and work more effectively. And while entrepreneurs often know where their pain points are in terms of disorganization, they may not have the time or capacity to implement changes themselves – so if that's you, see if working with Chelsea's team is right for you at this time.   Quotes I'll tell you what is sexy and it's having your life be easier and being able to monetize more, which both can be accomplished if you have the proper systems and processes in place. It gives you your time back. (02:32-02:54 | Chelsea) So my rule of thumb is when you hop into your cloud software program, your file organization, you should be able to find the document – whatever you're looking for – within two minutes or less, otherwise, you're wasting precious time. (10:35-10:54 | Chelsea) I love creating videos of certain steps in a process and putting a link to it in the standard operating procedure because some people are visual learners. (24:19-24:29 | Chelsea) Please don't share passwords via text or email, or even in Slack. Use a tool. (25:54-26:00 | Chelsea) Having a system in place actually gives you more freedom to be in that creative space because this is all running in the background. There's a process. “At least take one big step as often as you possibly can as you're moving towards your goals. If your goal is to run a successful online-only practice, there are several important things to consider.   In this episode, Dr. Brian discusses his own transition from a series of brick and mortar practices to a fully virtual practice. He shares the benefits of being seen as an expert in a specific area, especially when trying to develop trust with people solely online. By providing additional value to potential customers through a Facebook group, regularly updated blog, a podcast, and anything along those lines, you can foster trust in your expertise.   Quotes “The more you dive into one area, the more confidence it gives you.” (18:53-18:55 | Dr. Brian)  “What can I teach people over eight weeks, one topic a week, that it's not going to transform their life maybe, but it's going to give them all the tools to transform their life?” (22:44-22:54 | Dr. Brian) “That first five to 10,000, lead email list generally can be a slow process, unless you've got a lot of money to throw into paid traffic, which if you already have a very profitable practice, that would be a good way to build your list much more quickly.” (25:42-26:03 | Dr. Brian) “That's how you build that expertise over time whether it's YouTube videos or a Facebook group with regular posts and a lot of value that you're putting into there.” (27:26-27:35 | Dr. Brian) “At least take one big step as often as you possibly can as you're moving towards your goals. Branding takes everything a step further than marketing, carving out a niche for your unique approach.    In this episode, Robby discusses the differences between branding and marketing and divulges tips on how to move your personal brand into centerstage. Branding is what separates your business from another one of its kind. You likely are not going to be the only one in your industry serving a specific client base or solving a certain problem, but you can have a unique approach and take on it that sets you apart.    Quotes “If you're thinking, how do I begin to take steps going from being off the side of the stage and getting onto the stage, one thing you need to remember is, as a personal brand, or an entrepreneur, or any sort of business for that matter, when it comes to that problem and how you solve it, that's where you have to inject your particular take on it.” (11:52-12:16 | Robby) “When you're doing any sort of marketing where the role is to make more people aware of your business, you're injecting that with your reputation, your set of ideas, your skills, and your experiences.” (13:54-14:08 | Robby) “If we're going to begin to move from backstage to center stage, we need to have an angle or a take on this that is part of our brand that says this is different from the others.” (17:01-17:11 | Robby)  “Stories can push up against a worldview, but they do it in a non threatening way.” (31:19-31:24 | Robby)   Connect with Robby Fowler: Website: https://robbyf.com/ Podcast: https://robbyf.com/podcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rfowler Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rfowler/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robbyfowler Twitter: https://twitter.com/rfowler   ====    Thank You For Listening! “We need to be able to connect with people emotionally. Because if we can't do that, then everything, all of the brilliant things that you have to say, are going in one ear and out the other,” explains Kyle Gray, world-class presentation coach, story strategist and author.    Healthcare experts tend to struggle with relaying information in a way that is relatable and understandable to their audience. It's one thing to know how to solve a problem, but it's another to actually be able to connect emotionally with people and influence them to want to work with you.    So how do you persuade people that you can actually help them, so that they will say yes to working with you?   In this episode, Kyle discusses how to utilize the ancient technology of storytelling to get your messages across to really empathize with your chosen audience. There are certain key elements to effective storytelling and once you learn these elements, you can draw from your own life experiences to share stories that convey your message in a way that can be universally understood.    Quotes “This is an ancient technology, maybe the most ancient technology, is storytelling. And it's a very specific formula that allows us to resonate and understand and remember things.” (7:01-7:15 | Kyle) “The trick here is to get to these moments and use your client's words to tell your story. And even though the story is about you, your clients are going to experience it as if they're experiencing their own life, and they get to walk through your experience to see how you came to the solution.” (10:27-10:46 | Kyle) “We need to be able to connect with them emotionally, because if we can't do that, then everything, all of the brilliant things that you have to say, are going in one ear and out the other.” (11:33-11:42 | Kyle) “Instead of trying to teach us how to solve a problem, really focus your teaching on overcoming those beliefs and objections to get them open to it.” (15:38-15:49 | Kyle) “It's your responsibility to learn how to communicate in this way, and it's not good enough to just be able to solve the problem.” (28:05-28:15 | Kyle) “One story could really change your life and change so many other people's lives.” (28:32-28:37 | Kyle)    Links Connect with Kyle Gray: Website: https://www.thestoryengine.co/ Podcast: https://www.thestoryengine.co/podcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/heykylegray Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heykylegray/   ====    Thank You For Listening! “Don't mistake the opportunity for Long COVID with the frustration of dealing with the fast moving world of acute COVID. This is a big opportunity, not only to grow your practice, but quite frankly, to put a massive stake into the ground around the power of root cause medicine and an opportunity to build an evidence base that I think is of huge significance for the whole field,” shares Tom Blue, healthcare entrepreneur. Functional medicine practitioners face two main challenges when growing their practices. One, there is a large upfront time investment required for learning. Second, most insurance providers will not work with functional medicine practices and the burden of cost then falls on the patients, many of whom will not want to invest more into their healthcare. So how do you navigate these challenges and future proof your practice? In this episode, Tom discusses the importance of niching down your outreach to focus on those patients whose needs are not being met by the traditional healthcare system, like those with autoimmune conditions and other chronic pain conditions. He explains that Long-Covid is a key niche to target, because it is underserved and symptoms-based management alone is not sustainable.  He also talks about ways to further future-proof your practice by incorporating health trackers like the Aura Ring and utilizing ChatGPT for creating educational materials.    Quotes “We have essentially handed over control of curating our health care to a payer that only seldom has our interests at heart. So think about what your car or your house would look like, if the only things you did to take care of it were covered by Geico. If you think about the declining state of the American human condition, from a health standpoint, I think a lot of it has to do with this very thing. It's like preventive care, that root cause resolution of things. These are more value judgments than things that pose the risk of financial ruin. So they're not really in the domain of what insurance should cover anyway. But unfortunately, most consumers have yet to wade into that reality.” (8:29-9:10 | Tom)  “If you're wanting to solve pains, focus on conditions that are painful and where the healthcare system leaves people wanting more.” (15:41-15:48 | Tom) “There's this astonishingly large population of people that a year ago, two years ago, were essentially the picture of health and function. And all of a sudden, they can't walk around the block without being completely exhausted.” (16:50-17:05 | Tom) “Unlike a lot of chronic conditions that, like the frog in the pot of boiling water, progress so slowly you're constantly recalibrating what normal is and you forget how good you used to feel, Long COVID is the opposite of that.” (17:23-17:35 | Tom)  “The only way we have to quantify health historically has been our bathroom scale, which is generally a bad news generator. Now that we have tools like an Aura Ring, you've got this high resolution continuous picture of your health in many different dimensions. And there's good news to be found in it.” (26:36-26:57 | Tom) “Don't mistake the opportunity for Long COVID with the frustration of dealing with the fast moving world of acute COVID. This is a big opportunity, not only to grow your practice, but quite frankly, to put a massive stake into the ground around the power of root cause medicine and an opportunity to build an evidence base that I think is of huge significance for the whole field.” (29:19-29:43 | Tom)   Links   Connect with Tom Blue: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tomblue/   ====    Thank You For Listening! “America's drop in life expectancy is ridiculous compared to the rest of the world. And there's so many things driving that and many of those things would be helped with the deployment of functional medicine at scale,” explains James Maskell, co-founder of the Functional Forum and author of The Evolution of Medicine and The Community Cure. The increase in people being diagnosed with chronic illnesses is a real problem, especially in America. In order to really change this, functional medicine and group visits have to be adopted on a wide scale. But how do you get consumers to commit to making the necessary changes? And how do you equip integrative and functional medicine providers to guide that transition more effectively?  In this episode, James discusses the benefits of group care, the importance of finding ways to deliver the functional medicine system without stacking more tasks onto the doctors' plates, and the ways in which a provider can become a private functional medicine practitioner without even having to open a whole new physical practice.    Quotes  “You could probably start a practice for $20,000 or less because you just needed a laptop, you could do majority telemedicine,  work in a co-working space, and you don't need all of the kind of capital that was needed previously.” (6:48-7:00 | James) “The Evolution of Medicine brand and company has always been to help doctors make the switch to practice in a low overhead functional medicine environment.” (9:20-9:29 | James) “We needed to really find a way of delivering this functional medicine operating system in a way that was not reliant on doctors becoming executors, actually not reliant on doctors at all.” (11:06-11:17 | James) “Do virtual groups work? It turns out they do, and in many cases, much better.” (14:42-14:46 | James)  “People were so grateful to have this kind of community. We saw people supporting each other in interesting ways. And we saw also that with these longitudinal sessions, like it started off as a three month group, real friendships were possible. And they were not only possible, but they were happening.” (17:11-17:27 | James) “America's drop in life expectancy is ridiculous compared to the rest of the world. Burnout is a prevalent issue in the healthcare industry, with a majority of practitioners experiencing its negative effects. That's why Dr. Lara Salyer introduced the concept of a “flow-channeled culture," which combines flow with anti-burnout strategies to create a healthier work environment for healthcare professionals (and entrepreneurs alike). A flow-channeled culture promotes feedback, integrity, communication, and a focus on strengths. It encourages practitioners to concentrate on high cognitive tasks and maintain a systems overview. Creating a psychologically safe space is also essential in fostering this culture. In this episode, we discuss the importance of adopting a catalyst culture, the AHA (Anchor, Highlight, Activate) framework to retro-engineer burnout, and the role of AI and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in minimizing burnout and increasing practitioner effectiveness. Quotes "One of my core values is efficiency, and not in the hyper productivity way, but the fact that I'm only going to say YES to things that absolutely matter to me." (06:06-06:15 | Dr. Lara Salyer) "When you are a happier practitioner, you're going to attract patients differently. You're going to also see better outcomes. You're going to attract patients that understand and respect the culture that you're setting." (07:46-07:59 | Dr. Lara Salyer) "If you're in a brick and mortar practice, there's a lot you can do to create a psychologically safe environment. You can have common language and shared values with your staff. You can have these repeatedly talked about, almost like a drum beating culture that this is what we believe." (25:03-25:19 | Dr. Lara Salyer) "I am on a mission to teach a million health professionals how they can tap into flow so that they can regain that autonomy and be more joyful and have fun in medicine again, and less burnout." Artificial intelligence (AI) has been widely adopted since the release of ChatGPT on November 30, 2022… amassing over 100 million active monthly users in less than 2 months. It's safe to say that AI tools are here to stay and have already begun to transform the way people approach marketing thanks to the arrival of tools like ChatGPT. “Ultimately, I believe this technology is so different from anything else out there is that people that start with ChatGPT very quickly realize how much it increases their productivity. And I believe if it weren't for this productivity boost, we wouldn't really be seeing the broad adoption that we've seen with ChatGPT,” explains host Uli Iserloh.  Uli believes that AI tools like ChatGPT and integrated applications will continue to change how consumers and patients engage in marketing. These tools provide a fantastic opportunity for generating emails, social media content, and educational materials in addition to an as of yet unlimited number of other types of content.  In this episode, he shares why ChatGPT changed the game for AI, how this new technology increases productivity, and what other AI tools are currently available for making people's lives and jobs easier. Quotes “I think ultimately that the reason that made this technology so different from anything else out there is that people that start with ChatGPT very quickly realize how much it increases their productivity. And I believe if it weren't for this productivity boost, we wouldn't really be seeing the broad adoption that we've seen with ChatGPT.” (3:28-3:50 | Uli) “With the right prompts, it is very easy to churn out 10-15 different social media posts. In fact, you could take the emails that ChatGPT wrote for you and turn them into shorter social media posts.” (12:04-12:17 | Uli) “You can't just be a great healer, a great clinician, but you also have to be a great educator.” (17:54-18:00 | Uli) “This is not just some new shiny toy that will fade away in a few months. This will fundamentally transform how we do marketing.” (20:47-20:56 | Uli)   Resources Getting Started With ChatGPT For Health & Wellness Content Marketing   ====    Thank You For Listening! Written information is more available than ever before – thanks to the power of AI tools. This means that more people are going to be relying on industry experts to know what information to trust.  A personal brand is an identity based around a person's expertise, reputation, ideas, and personality. As a personal brand, developing trust is the most important step for success.  The inspirational stories and quirks that set a person apart from others in their industry are going to be what generates trust. Additionally, using formats like video in addition to written and spoken content can help the audience feel more engaged and connected.  “Informational content won't be as much of a differentiator. But I think what will set people apart is the inspirational content, stuff that's more full of your own personality, your quirks, your stories,” explains Mike Kim, speaker, online educator, brand strategist, and author of You Are The Brand.  Mike is an expert at what it takes to build a personal brand, like determining a person's unique point of view, finding their voice, and showing up consistently on camera.  In this episode, we discuss how to build a personal brand, reasons to branch into video content, and the changes being seen in the industry due to the rise of AI bots like Chat GPT.  Quotes  “Our value as personal brands and as experts in our industry, is that we are going to become trust filters for people.” (03:31-3:39 | Mike) “If GPT and all these other things make written content somewhat easier and or maybe even more obsolete down the road, you've got to be in front of the camera and let people see you.” (8:01-8:09 | Mike) “Informational content won't be as much of a differentiator. Change cannot be made solely based on ordering someone to do something or just giving them information. People need to first have a strong image of their ‘why', so that they make the choice to commit to change.  Once patients have determined what the positive emotional attractor is for them specifically, then self-efficacy improves and they begin to advocate for the kind of care they want.  A coach helps by being a non-judgemental listener, taking some of the workload off the practitioner, facilitating groups where individuals can support each other, and improving overall emotional wellness.  Without a health coach, many people will give up or fall short of their goals.  Coaches can help explain the reasons why people should make certain lifestyle changes based on their desired future.  Plus, with the assistance of a coach, patients are more likely to succeed and feel that they have control over their own health outcomes.  “We see coaching as the key to reducing chronic disease as well as reducing healthcare costs,” explains Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum, founder and CEO of the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA), a collaboration with the Institute of Functional Medicine.  FMCA trains people to become functional medicine health coaches and also supports practitioners and businesses to hire the graduates.  In this episode, we discuss the power of health coaching and how it can benefit not only patients, but practitioners as well. Quotes “Coaches shine when they're facilitating groups. Groups are such a powerful way for change to happen.” (14:27-14:34 | Sandra)  “Coaches are trained to be true listeners. They are coming into each encounter with somebody with mindfulness, and it's a judgment free zone.” (17:03-17:13 | Sandra) “We have a critical shortage of mental health professionals, and coaches can play a huge role in supporting emotional wellness.” (20:34-20:43 | Sandra) “We see coaching as the key to reducing chronic disease, as well as reducing healthcare costs.” (24:25-24:33 | Sandra)   Links Connect with Sandra Scheinbaum: Website: https://www.functionalmedicinecoaching.org Podcast: https://anchor.fm/fmca/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/FunctionalMedicineCoachingAcademy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/functionalmedcoach/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drsandi LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/functionalmedicinecoachingacademy/   ====    Thank You For Listening! It's about really having high buy-in and knowing that this is a lifetime shift in our thinking, in our lifestyle habits, in all of those pieces and so we really do need support longterm to be able to be successful,” explains Dr. Michelle Peris, ND.  Dr. Peris is the clinical director of the Poppy Clinic and creator of The Wild Collective, a community health initiative focused on health education and women's empowerment. In this episode, we discuss the power of community and group-based healthcare to create lasting health transformation.  Without community, many patients struggle with consistently sticking with integrative health programs. Long-term support from like-minded individuals is vital to increasing buy-in and commitment. The Wild Collective provides women a safe place to be educated on their healthcare needs and cheerlead one another along the journey.  When we hear others tell stories similar to our own, it helps normalize our own experiences. That can help open people up to sharing more about their own stories, and as this happens, the community grows stronger as a whole.  Quotes “Community medicine and group health have a compelling solution for helping patients and community members at large start to take radical responsibility.” (3:29-3:39 | Dr. Peris) “When it comes to integrative medicine, it's not a quick fix approach. “I always tell people today, anywhere you are in your life, you need something in front of you to pull you, otherwise your paths will take you and bring you back,” explains Tony Grebmeier, serial entrepreneur and owner operator of the Be Fulfilled journal and app.  In this episode we discuss the concepts of drivers and drainers and how they factor into long term success.  Tony was struggling to feel fulfilled by his life. As debt piled up and he saw any way out close off, he began to contemplate suicide. Luckily, a good friend called Tony right as he was writing his suicide note and changed his mindset completely. He explained to Tony that his life has value and purpose, but that how he was choosing to live it at that time did not.  After this mindset shift, Tony began seeking personal fulfillment. He started to think about the driving forces that were pushing him forward and conversely thinking about the draining forces that were sucking the energy from him.  When we can recognize what drives us and what drains us, then we can be more mindful about how we choose to spend our time. Instead of making a bunch of excuses, change your perspective and think about what you might be able to achieve if you were brave enough to try. Quotes  “I always tell people today, anywhere you are in your life, you need something in front of you to pull you, because otherwise your paths will take you and bring you back.” (3:59-4:06 | Tony) “For something to change, I understand that it's not out there. It's in me.” (4:32-4:35 | Tony) “My dad wasn't around like the dads most people had growing up. I never threw a football and never tossed a baseball, I could make a ton of excuses. But what I did instead was I learned to accept people for who they are, not for who I want them to be.” (10:30-10:42 | Tony) Audiogram “I can be crippled by fear, or I can realize that if I put my crutches down, I have the capacity to walk today freely.” (13:26-13:34 | Tony)  Resources Access the “Be Fulfilled” Master Class – bringing all the teachings, videos, and tools together into one convenient place: https://www.befulfilledcourses.com/courses/befulfilled-journal   Links Connect with Tony Grebmeier: Website: https://tonygrebmeier.com Website: https://shipoffers.com BeFulfilled Journal: https://tonygrebmeier.com/pages/befulfilled-journal  Podcast: https://www.tonygrebmeier.com/podcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tonygrebmeier/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tonygrebmeier   ====    Thank You For Listening! “All entrepreneurs, all influencers, and all thought leaders should be considering something like a podcast, because it gives you that chance to build trust ahead of time,” shares Danny Ozment, owner of Emerald City Productions.  In this episode we discuss the reasons why you should consider starting your own podcast. A podcast is a fantastic way for people to build connections and trust with their target market. By starting a podcast and posting consistently, your listeners will build a relationship with you and begin to see you as an authority in your specific area. As your podcast grows, your body of work grows and continues to add to your authority. There are podcasts just about every topic under the sun. So even if you don't believe your industry would be a good fit for podcasting, you're probably wrong. Podcasts serve as a referral marketing system because you can establish trust before meeting someone in person - especially for service-based providers like doctors, lawyers and consultants. Starting a podcast is easier than ever before when it comes to technology. As long as you are consistent and willing to take the plunge, podcasting can take your business further and secure your position as a thought leader in your industry.  Quotes “All entrepreneurs, all influencers, all thought leaders, all professionals brick and mortar should be considering something like a podcast, because it gives you that chance to build trust ahead of time.” (8:52-9:04 | Danny) “I often talk about it as referral marketing on a grand scale, because it is the chance for you to establish trust and friendship with people that have a problem and need to go to a friend to ask advice and have their problem solved. And you can point them in the right direction, which is you while you're the host of a podcast.” (15:12-15:31 | Danny) “There was actually a recent study that was released in the psychological journal PLOS1 that found that participants who listen to more podcasts per month and developed parasocial interactions with the hosts of the podcast actually felt more related to others and had more significance in their lives.” (17:28-17:51 | Danny) “You may think, ‘oh, a podcast wouldn't be right for my industry'. “Dopamine is what helps us initiate movement,” explains Sachin Patel, founder of The Living Proof Institute. Sachin has pioneered a revolutionary approach to patient-centric healthcare through his work and coached hundreds of practitioners worldwide. In this episode, we're exploring how entrepreneurs can optimize their neurotransmitters for overall success. From a genetic standpoint, Sachin recognized that he has a high tolerance for stress, making him a perfect fit for entrepreneurship. When we learn how we each operate genetically, we can put ourselves in the best environments to thrive – and that's why genomic testing is a great tool towards optimizing our health.  For example, through an organic acids test, we can discover how much dopamine we produce, which is the motivation molecule we need to take action and get results. Ultimately, by understanding our individual neurochemistry, we can make lifestyle choices that allow us to maximize our productivity and end procrastination once and for all. Whether we have neurotransmitter barriers or emotional challenges stemming from childhood, many factors may affect our productivity. By understanding healthy ways of gaining dopamine we can put ourselves on the path toward growth. Quotes “We can support entrepreneurs and their chemistry and create awareness for them in such a way that allows them to take ownership of how they steer their business.” (3:31-3:44 | Sachin)  “Dopamine is what helps us initiate movement.” (5:06-5:08 | Sachin)  “We can interject little hits of dopamine for our clients through our business.” (4:15-4:19 | Sachin) “There's a part of us that is a little bit harder to measure. And that is our unconscious mind.”  (14:24-14:20 | Sachin) “Our chemistry and environment is our community and the circle of friends we keep.” (21:24-21:20 | Sachin) “There's so much to be said about having the right community and people to surround yourself with.” (23:40-23:44 | Sachin)   Links   Connect with Sachin Patel Health Seeker website: https://thelivingproofinstitute.com/ Practitioner Coaching website: https://www.perfectpracticementorship.com/ Perfect Practice Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/perfect-practice/id1409852371  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesachinpatel Personal FB: https://www.facebook.com/sachinpateldc Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thesachinpatel/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drsachinpatel/   ====    Thank You For Listening! 017: The Secrets To Delegating Successfully With Karla Singson

“The reason why people fail in delegating or outsourcing is not because they didn't have the money or the business. It's usually missed expectations,” explains Karla Singson, award-winning writer, public speaker, and serial entrepreneur. Karla has over ten years of experience growing businesses in the retail, project management and outsourcing space. With her outsourcing expertise in mind, I asked Karla to share the secrets to delegating successfully. No matter how productive you are, there are only so many hours a day. Outsourcing tasks will help you get everything done. If you hire someone to perform a documented and repeatable process, you can set expectations and see results. Even if there are roadblocks ahead, delegating work will give you more time to foster your business's growth and help you accomplish your dream. A key requirement to delegating is creating proper standardized operating procedures (SOPs). Using these SOPs to explain even the most minuscule details of your processes is critical to ensure that any person can learn how to do it, no matter the circumstances. When you have documentation of your company's procedures, whether through a recorded Loom video or google doc, your virtual assistants can take over these tasks confidently.  By giving your team members the resources to succeed, you empower them and demonstrate that you trust them with your company's vision. If your team truly understands how their work matters and that they have a voice, you can obtain crucial feedback and discover better ways to improve your business overall. Quotes “If you're a visionary, and you have so many ideas for growth, you can just have people ready to take on the job and a management team to take care of your KPIs.” (6:35-6:46 | Karla)  “The reason why people fail in delegating or outsourcing is not that they don't have the money or the business. It's usually missed expectations.” (7:36-7:48 | Karla) “The mindset you should have is, if your virtual assistant or employee contractor has to be out for a medical emergency, you need to be able to pass this on to someone else.” (15:23-15:36 | Karla) “If you hire an outsourcing company like us, someone can help you. But if you're doing this yourself, overdo it. It's always better to overdo the preparation than not to do it enough.” (16:13-16:24 | Karla) “If you're hiring in the Philippines or outsourcing to a developing country because it's easier for your company to scale, you have to make them believe that they're there for a reason and that you have absolute trust in their intelligence.” (23:31-23:50 | Karla)   Links   Check out Karla's free guide with the “Top 10 Mistakes that People Make when Hiring a VA”. For entrepreneurs, reaching customers through marketing is critical, though it can be challenging. On today's episode, Marisa shares her copywriting insights to help business owners communicate their messages more effectively and empathetically. When we're writing a copy, we often put way too much information in it to get our point across. Unfortunately, this makes our message harder to comprehend for our audience and can seem insecure. By ensuring that we only include the most resonating words and proofreading to check the flow, we can tell great stories that get people excited about what we're selling. In addition, emphasizing empathetic copy creates valuable connections. Learn more about the importance of storytelling in marketing, eliminating fluff language, and why dialogue is a powerful tool.   Quotes “When we connect human to human, and use empathy, and use things like narrative writing, we can bridge the gap and connect with our audiences.” (3:12-3:23 | Marisa)  “When I became a copywriter, I was really honing in on the stories. How could I leverage this? Then I suddenly realized, as I'm looking back, when I enjoy stories, it releases endorphins. Right? That feels good. So when people read stories, they're engaged, and we're used to stories, right? And so the stories are powerful, as in, I'm sure you're familiar with breakthrough copywriting. There's a quote there that says that people can't argue with an opinion or an assertion or even a claim, or people can argue with an opinion, assertion, or claim. But it's pretty hard to argue with a story. And so, I started incorporating that in my marketing and my copywriting. And I realized it really made a big difference.” (7:51-8:38 | Marisa)  “Every story should have a point, and every point should have a story.” (11:11-11:14 | Marisa) “We always have to put our finger on the pulse of the market today.” (16:13-16:18 | Marisa) “Less is more. Remove anything that's filler. Every word needs to earn its right to be on that piece of communication.” (18:04-18:10 | Marisa) “Whatever it is that you have to offer someone, it is solving a problem and meeting a need. “When we're in the survival state for 70% of our adult life, on average, it's fight, flight, freeze, fight, flight, freeze all the time,” explains Dr. Eugene Choi, Pharm D. BCPS, Filmmaker, Author, and Podcaster. A sought-after transformational mindset coach, Dr. Eugene is on a mission to help leaders operate at their highest levels. Today, Dr. Eugene shares the neuroscience behind decision-making and how to activate the executive part of our brains. Whether we suffer from habitual fight, flight, or freeze responses – every person is somewhat impaired due to our reactive nature. Although we may subconsciously believe we are consistently in danger and want to protect ourselves, we simultaneously hinder our ability to get what we want. By training our brains to remain calm and learning to step back and view our situations objectively, we can access more creativity and successful decision-making skills. The possibilities are endless when we can get ourselves out of survival mode. Learn more about how our minds process stress, common mentality mistakes of business leaders, and why we need to take ownership of our outside responses. Quotes • “Our brain is in this reactive mode without thinking. Not because your life is in danger, but because of the number of emotions we experience daily that are frankly uncomfortable.” (4:21-4:33 | Dr. Eugene) • “If we're in the survival state for more or less about 70% of our adult life, on average, it's fight, flight, freeze, fight, flight, freeze all the time.” (9:14-9:22 | Dr. Eugene) • “The good news is just how you can go to the gym and get stronger with your muscles, we can exercise our brains to improve and rewire the parts that are not serving us.” (18:36-18:47 | Dr. Eugene)  • “Once you're willing, then you're willing to take ownership. And when you're willing to take ownership, you're willing to get yourself the very thing you need to get to where you need to go.” (21:21-21:34 | Dr. Eugene) • “When you enter an executive state, you're going to look at both the outside and inside. But in survival mode, you're only stuck on the outside, and that's disempowering.” (25:59-26:06 | Dr. Eugene)   FREE TRAINING: How to Activate Your Brain's Superpowers A science-backed approach to discover your passion, find your purpose and transform your life:https://destinyhacks.co/   Connect with Dr. Eugene Choi Website: https://destinyhacks.co/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eugenekchoi/  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/eugenekchoi/    ====    Thank You For Listening! With expertise in flow state, Dr. Lara speaks worldwide to teach health care professionals how to eradicate burnout and reclaim autonomy. Dr. Lara, a trailblazer in her own right, encourages health entrepreneurs to think outside the box and improve happiness for all.    As children, we naturally get into a flow state and enjoy doing things, regardless of the outcome. As we age, we lose our sense of play and struggle to do our work or hobbies. If we learn to get into our own flow rhythm and optimize our daily behaviors, we can compress our workdays and accomplish more. Ultimately, flow is about discovering what works best for you to get the most satisfying results.    When it comes to neuroscience, it's best to go with the “flow.” Learn more about the neurochemical transition from childhood to adulthood, dealing with flow blockers, and rekindling your inner spark.    Quotes • “If you learn how to get into the cadence of flow, optimize your rituals, and know your body and boundaries, you can compress your workday in a shorter time and get more done.” (5:37-5:49 | Dr. Lara)  • “Flow is a state. And it's a journey that we like to be on, regardless of the outcome.” (7:35-7:40 | Dr. Lara) • “Flow is a consistent process. If you invite it and sit with it, some days, you might create a lot. Other days, you might create nothing. But it's that consistency that builds your process.” (15:46-15:57 | Dr. Lara) • “Creativity every day is a skill that does get easier and faster, and you become more confident because you're just playing, and we've forgotten that lost art of play and need to bring it back.” (17:35-17:46 | Dr. Lara) • “Look for those tiny moments where you can bring that Aha back in and feel excited about your day. And it may not fix your whole life or your situation, but if more of us are aware of this and apply these principles, I believe we can change the future of medicine.” (22:07-22:21 | Dr. Lara)   Links   Connect with Dr. Lara Salyer   Instagram: https://instagram.com/drlarasalyer  Facebook: https://facebook.com/drlarasalyer  Linked-In: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drlarasalyer/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@creativity.doctor  Website: https://drlarasalyer.com Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/7d96T0XY32NxEefslXhLNo?si=28a4865894334dfa&nd=1 Catalyst Kit: https://rightbrainrescue.com/p/catalyst_kit    ====    Thank You For Listening! “Whether you recognize it or not, everybody sells all the time,” explains host Dr. Uli Iserloh. Welcome to Getting To YES, where leaders from all walks of life discuss successful ways to influence others to live their best lives. Using his neurobiology background, Dr. Uli breaks down how the mind works and what it takes to get a “yes.”   To get a yes, you must do two things: say the right things and say them consistently.  With these actions, you can work through people's distrust and highlight how what you're promoting will improve their lives. Ultimately, by understanding how the brain works in decision-making, you can help others achieve their goals, including yourself.   If you're persuasive, it's easy for people to say yes to what you're promoting. Learn more about Dr. Uli's transition into marketing, how the subconscious brain works,  and the ways we all sell in our everyday lives.  Quotes •“Whether you recognize it or not, everybody sells all the time.
