This is not our typical episode of Prepare to Win. What started as a pre-podcast conversation became a full-fledge episode. We originally wanted to have a brief discussion about the Culture of Overhyped Winning that is seen on Instagram currently (emphasis on “brief”). We originally hit record in order to do a mic-check for the episode, and the next thing we knew we were 20 minutes deep into a conversation about the current state of social media delusions, building teams within your business, and finding ways to authentically promote yourself and your business. At a certain point towards the beginning, you can hear us make the decision to have this conversation be the actual episode. This is a perfect example of why Prepare To Win was started in the first place. Conversations like this are daily occurrences for us at Unrivaled Strength. We knew there was a high level of value for our members, listeners, and clients if they were able to be a part of these conversations. The podcast has always been intended to let our audience feel as if they were having the chance to sit in the room during the conversations that we wish we could have been a part of ourselves when we were starting out 10-15 years ago. That being said, please enjoy this very raw, real, uncut episode of Prepare To Win. Show Topics: 1. Building and growing the professional team (0:20) 2. The detriment of humility when promoting yourself (9:58) 3. Balancing authenticity with the need to market yourself and your business (18:04) 4. The misperceptions of consistency when presenting yourself in life and on social media (21:20) 5. The “Culture of So-Called Winning” (24:55) 6. The grounding effect of gratitude and providing value (37:00) 7. The delusion of social media followings (28:00) 8. You need to actually be good at something before you can provide value (55:00) 9. Providing value for a successful return (1:06:00) Announcements: 1. Dan Bell will be hosting a USAW Level 1 Coaching Course on June 5th and 6th at Unrivaled Strength in North Canton, Ohio. On this episode of Prepare to Win we're discussing how changes in the athlete's environment can have a dramatic impact on the outcomes of their training, both positively or negatively. On this episode of Prepare to Win we're talking about taking responsibility for your actions. Well, more of a rant about taking responsibility. We (passionately) give examples that inspired this most recent rant. The conversation takes a turn at the halfway point as we begin to delve into the mindset that drives the business principles and lifestyle choices that we run our business by, live our lives by, and what we look to find in others (business partners, clients, and which businesses or services we use ourselves).
On this episode of Prepare to Win we discuss the fear that comes from approaching success. Too often, we work with athletes (of various backgrounds and sports) that begin to reach a turning point in their training. This turning point is the first true step towards their success as an athlete. It is also one of the hardest moments mentally for any athlete. It shows if this person is deeply committed to growing and succeeding as an athlete. This point or mental hardship can be seen also in business and life, in general. It has been a topic that we talk about often. It is one of the greatest attributes to the growth that we've seen over the last 5 years as business owners. Show Topics: 1. Getting deterred by fear as an individual approaches a certain level of success. 2. It's not a sacrifice, it's just life. 3. Being passionate vs being interested Q&A: 1. What are some tips or recommendations for dealing with a pec minor strain from benching? 2. What causes “tight” muscles? Also, how and when you should correct them? 3. Focus in training is the difference between average and elite. Prove me wrong. Announcements: 1. Meets are filling up fast! If you're going to signup, do it soon at Unrivaledstrength.com 2. We want to apologize in advance. There was an error in the record process for this episode that resulted in poor audio quality for Dane's microphone. It resulted in a high echo effect that, unfortunately, couldn't be removed post-production. This will be fixed in the future and, hopefully, does not distract from the valuable information that the episode provides. On this episode of Prepare to Win, we have round two of the Inevitable Nutrition episode. Justin explains some of the methodology that he uses when calculated macros for his clients, in particular the sport they are doing and the type of training they are currently doing that sport. We talk about concepts for proper fueling for specific training activities as well as the recovery from those activities as well. We also had a great response this week from the Q&A's! Thank you to everyone who submitted their questions. Show Topics: 1. Energy systems in the body and how they are fueled. 2. The need for certain macros over others depending on the activity. 3.
