He asked anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward. The very next day however, Chris failed a polygraph exam and eventually confessed to murdering his wife, but he initially denied killing their children. In a series of handwritten messages from behind bars, Watts shifts responsibility to his late wife Shanann, his former mistress, and even spiritual temptation—while continuing to describe himself as a "good man." Watts, now 39, is serving multiple life sentences without parole at Dodge Correctional Institution in Wisconsin for the murders of Shanann Watts, 34, and their daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. The horrific killings gripped the nation in August 2018, when Watts initially pretended to be a grieving husband and father during media appearances, only to later confess to the crimes after being confronted with damning evidence. But in letters written to acquaintances, friends, and even addressed to God, Watts portrays himself as a victim of circumstances. He calls Shanann a “control freak” who, he claims, ignored his emotional needs and drove him into an affair with co-worker Nichol Kessinger. Kessinger is also vilified in the letters, which Watts uses to describe her as a “harlot” and “evil woman” who lured him with “flattering speech” and “lust in her eyes and flesh.” Despite these deflections, Watts offers little genuine remorse, even referring to himself as “still a good man” led astray. A source close to the case called the letters "a masterclass in manipulation, self-pity, and blame-shifting." “Instead of owning the unimaginable crimes he committed, Watts casts himself as a weak, misguided soul corrupted by others,” the source said. “Chris Watts is not a victim. He is a calculating killer who refuses to take full responsibility—even now.” Watts' deception began almost immediately after the murders. On the day his family was reported missing, he gave emotional interviews on local news, pleading for their safe return. Chris Watts was a seemingly ordinary family man living in Frederick, Colorado, with his wife, Shanann Watts, their two young daughters, Bella and Celeste, and baby Nico on the way. The family appeared to be living a typical suburban life, with Chris working at Anadarko Petroleum and Shanann working as a a distributer of THRIVE, a product from an MLM called Le-Vel. Because of this, she frequently shared updates about their life on Facebook, which she was unfortunately harshly criticized about after her death. On August 13, 2018, pregnant Shanann Watts and her two daughters were reported missing by her best friend, Nickole Atkinson. Initially, Chris Watts appeared on Denver 7 News, pleading for their safe return, but being a big weirdo about it. He was such a giggle little creep, and I posted the interview from them. However, as the investigation unfolded, inconsistencies in his statements and behavior raised suspicions. Between his neighbor's interview showing the security footage of Chris clearly being full of crap and Nichol Kessinger coming forward admitting to the affair, things weren't looking good for Christopher Watts. After being subjected to questioning by law enforcement officials, Terry Lee and Agent Coder, Chris Watts eventually confessed to murdering his wife Shanann and their two daughters. He admitted to ending Shanann in a fit of rage after a heated argument and then subsequently their two daughters. (I also posted the confession interrogation as well, sooo….) Tragically, the bodies of Shanann, Bella, and Celeste were found on the property of an oil company where Chris Watts worked. Shanann's body was buried in a shallow grave, while the bodies of the two girls were found submerged in oil tanks. Is Chris Watts innocent? Why would he do this? Is he just a narcissist? Perhaps a sociopath, or (according to him) because of his mistress Nichol Kessinger? (But, as far as I could find, Nichol and Chris Watts aren't even together anymore, so it's not as if that matters anyway.) At approximately 1:45am on Monday, August 14th, 2018, Shanann Watts returned from a weekend business trip to her idyllic home and family. Footage from the security camera at the front door shows that she made it safely inside, but neither Shanann, nor her innocent children sound asleep in their beds, would ever be heard from again. Chris Watts was a young family man from Fredrick, Colorado starting his new life with his wife Shanann Watts. Together they had two daughters, Bella who was 4, Celeste who they called “ce-cee” who was 3, and shanan was also 15 weeks pregnant with their third. Shanann announced on facebook on June 11th, 2018 that they were having their 3rd child, and posted a video of her surprising chris. Shanann regularly used facebook to share her family life with her friends and from the outside she was in a loving relationship with Chris. She also describes in multiple videos how he saved her and how much he's done for her and their daughters. There were never any signs of abuse or any issues within their relationship at all. To everyone around them they were living the perfect suburban family life.

On August 14, 2018 The entire town of Frederick, Colorado was on high alert and searching for Shanann Watts and her two daughters, Bella and Celeste. Chris Watts gave multiple news interviews following the disappearance of his family. He stood in front of cameras and played the part, or at least he tried to. On the evening of August 14th Chris would visit the Frederick Police Department and sit down with Special Agent Graham Coder, and set in motion the series of events that would ultimately lead to his conviction. But it wasn't the full story — And it wouldn't be his last.
