A podcast about straight to video Disney sequels. Join hosts Audrey, Dan and Jimmy for this fun review and commentary on those less than beloved sequels to major theatrical releases. We explore the “films” and the years in which they were released. If you have a chance to watch the movie prior to listening, all the better. If you are unable, or unwilling to watch these movies, you will still enjoy the commentary, the improv and banter around these less than classic films!
You might see the title for this episode and think to yourself: “are they really so negligent in their release schedule that they are putting out their Christmas episode in March?” To which I, Dan, say to you: no that's ridiculous, we recorded this one in February. I'd say this isn't going to become a trend but it has clearly become one. We watched Hot Frosty as the last of our Dealer's Choice movies for the year and it was surprising in a lot of ways that we found surprising in its surprisingness. Does that mean it's good? Clearly you have not listened to our show if you think that is the case. Join me (your tardy-ass editor), Audrey, and Jimmy as we talk about how this movie would been other different circumstances, the density of snow in relationship to flesh, the secret source of the Hulk's anger, and man-shaped holes in what is possibly the dirtiest episode of our awful podcast to date. But just like that dirty, disgusting street snow it is still fun for the whole family. Special thanks to Asher's dad's band, Liquid Horizon, for debuting their music on our podcast. If you enjoy yacht rock by middle-aged divorced dads with multiple restraining orders, you can listen to their work at https://soundcloud.com/liquid-horizon-191307162/albums. Yes, this is a real thing, and it's exactly what you think it is. Consider it the show's Easter egg. You're welcome, world. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Episode Description by ChatGP-T (a.k.a. Mr. T) “Hey, you! Yeah, YOU, fool! Stop scrolling and start listening, ‘cause the Supreme Podcasting Champs are back with an episode that's stronger than a chain of gold and sharper than Mr. T's barber!” This week, the Scraping the Vault crew dives headfirst into Be Somebody… or Be Somebody's Fool!—the iconic 1984 motivational masterpiece from none other than me, Mr. T! And let me tell ya, these fools learned some real lessons this time. Here's what went down: They learned how to spell Mother (hint: it's all about love and respect, fool!). They discovered that anger ain't bad if you can “use it, don't lose it.” (Just like my patience with them—barely hangin' on!) And the best way to eat potato salad? Straight off the fingers of Mr. T himself! Yeah, you heard that right. It's delicious, nutritious, and a privilege, fool! But that's not all. The hosts ask the big questions: Is Mr. T's cello playing the greatest metaphor for perseverance ever put on VHS? (Spoiler: Yes, it is!) Can breakdancing truly heal a nation? (Only if you're spinning with the heart of a champion!) Why would Calvin Klein and Gloria Vanderbilt want your name on their jeans? (They wouldn't, fool, so don't wear theirs!) So, grab a bowl of respect, sprinkle on some self-worth, and tune in as these podcasting maniacs unravel my wisdom one absurd segment at a time. But don't get it twisted: if you ain't laughing AND learning, then you better rewind, fool, because the only thing worse than missing this episode is disrespecting your mother. “Scraping the Vault—where fools become champions, one ridiculous episode at a time.” Now quit wasting time! Download it, stream it, or I pity you for missin' out! Peace, respect, and potato salad. Happy Holidays! For some of us, November 1st is the start of the Christmas season. For others, it starts the day after thanksgiving. For even others, it should never start. One of the latter is Ebenezer Scrooge (AKA Dan's character. The one he has been playing for years. Tune in to The supreme resort to learn about the real Dan). Will Dan enjoy this holiday classic? Does Jimmy blindly gush over anything? Does Audrey do a surprisingly good Owen Wilson impression? The answers to all these questions should be obvious, but you'll have to tune in to find out. Enjoy! What can we say, these aren't getting any better. This movie was released just after John Lasseter hugged the straight to video sequels away.. This one does not carry any future plot, it does not fill the characters out in any way, and perhaps even takes away from some of the character relationships from the original film. We have fully evolved into a Harry Potter Podcast. Don't know when it happened, but it did. Think about it, Cinderella 3 has magic, wands, fairies, an evil person who you can't say their name (mostly cause they don't have one) and Audrey and Jimmy happen to know a lot about HP. Anyway, this movie is a masterpiece. I don't care what Dan says. We're back!!! Fox and the Hound was a movie. The source material for that movie was dark! The sequel, Fox and the Hound 2 has absolutely nothing to do with the original film or the source material. It was like someone came up with a long episode of some Disney channel show about two sis white twin boys and they were like, we could make this into a movie, what characters could we use that have some sort of existing IP? And, thus, Fox and the Hound 2. Hear Audrey, Dan and Jimmy explore the source material juxtaposed with the synopsis of the actual tragedy that is this not at all awaited sequel. Lilo and Stitch was a charming movie about a girl and her sister experiencing and helping each other through the trauma of losing their parents and learning to be an ohana. Then Disney made 3 more movies based mainly of the wacky, farting alien who appeared in their lives to help them do this and grow as people. Then they made a TV series based on that farting alien and all of the other farting aliens. This is movie is the culmination of…all of that. And we can only pray it will remain so. Join Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan as they talk about this assault on the senses while discovering the power of aloha and a dubious legal situation involving a lawyer who is both cool and real which, let's face it, they might deserve this time. Taking place between Bambi's mother's death and Bambi shown as a young adult buck, the film follows Bambi's relationship with his father, The Great Prince of the Forest, and Bambi's efforts to earn his father's love for him. It was first titled Bambi and the Great Prince, but was renamed Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest and later Bambi II. This movie was released theatrically in nearly every other developed country outside of the U.S. Some of us think it is good enough to have been released in the U.S. but alas, it was left to the annals of straight to video. It was a pleasant watch, father son coming of age tale. enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch is a true sequel to the original Theatrical release Lilo and Stitch. Stitch!: the Movie (recently reviewed on Scraping the vault) was a spin off and extended pilot episode of the lilo and stitch TV show. Much like many of these Disney toon studios films which were the most realized episodes of short lived animated series see: Tarzan and Jane, Belle's Magical world etc. Lilo and Stitch 2 is a great sequel. Period. Well produced, great acting performances great animation etc. As Bob Iger takes over the Walt Disney Company, the acquisition of Pixar and John Lasseter now creative head of all Disney Animation, we are nearing the beginning of the end of these straight to video sequels befor we enter the tinkerverse. In 1996 The Walt Disney Company gathered several of Hollywood's most talented filmmakers to create their first live action remake of a classic animated film: One Hundred & One Dalmatians. Audrey is back from her trip to Australia doing good deeds for the improv community and she's just in time to watch Tarzan 2 with Jimmy and Dan so that you don't have to. Tarzan 2 is, of course, a movie about Tarzan as a young child who, of course, meets up with a grizzled old man gorilla (proper pronunciation revealed in the episode) who asks Tarzan to keep a secret between the two of them. And, like all situations where an old man asks a young boy to keep a secret from the community at large, nothing bad happens! Except for Phil Collins songs but we live in a world of lowered expectations at this point so why not have all of those things happen! It's another episode where Audrey and Jimmy seem to like the movie and Dan tries to tell them they are wrong with just about the usual outcome. But he has the last laugh because he's writing the description for the episode this time. Take that! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We are thrilled to welcome Cheryl and Sheila (which is slang for girl in Austrailia) from improv group Hacky Sacks in Khaki Slacks to discuss the details of 2005's Mulan 2. This is a funny one guys. These 2 Australian improvisers watched Mulan 2 and came on to our show to discuss the details. We are sorry Audrey missed this one, but Cheryl and Sheila did a great job filling in for her. Mulan 2 or what Jimmy thought would be Mulan Too is a fun continuation of the story of Mulan, The Chinese hero who helped defeat the huns. Will there be unnecessary romance and plenty of Three's company moments? Yes. Will there be plenty of background noise from drinking glasses by Cheryl? Absolutely. Will this be a great film? You decide. Have fun! We sure did. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We're back to the craptactualr straight to video Disney sequels. We're giving Lion King 1.5 a pass. Springtime with Roo was a straight to video "sequel" to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Spoilers, this is an Easter movie. Well it's "A Christmas Carol" dressed up as an Easter movie, so perfect timing? Hear Chapek and his dream of all of these "films" not so subtly break Dan and hear Jimmy lean in on his blind positivity and hear Audrey be Awesome as always. Also, what happened to Asher? Lion King 1 ½ Aaaand we're back. It was nice taking some time away from Papa Chapek's various crimes against animation but these movies aren't going to watch themselves. Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan watched Lion King 1 ½ and boy, was it a gas. You'll have a blast as they break into the winding story line of this rootin' tootin' movie which is kind of a sequel but also not a sequel at all. It's the last round of our annual Dealer's Choice picks where we take a (much needed?) break from straight to video Disney sequels to watch real movies. This time around we watched the very popular, very earwormy, and very copyrighted movie, Encanto. Listen as an audibly frustrated Jimmy stans for Lin Manuel Miranda and musicals in general while Audrey and Dan remain fairly unimpressed for an amount of time that will not be disclosed here so as to build suspense. Cliffhanger! Speaking of cliffhangers, we also get to find out this show's unexpected connection to the Dark Lord himself: the very thumblike Bob Chapek. Will Jimmy's love of the musical genre break through the icy coldness of the hearts of his cohosts? Can we create a rivalry with a content creator with more clout than us? Will Disney sue us for this episode even though we tried very hard to not include any of the music or other content from this movie? This episode features music from Columbian artists to illustrate some of the different musical styles which inspired the songs of Encanto. La Combinación Vallenata, Manigua Rock Mestizo, Rakim & Ken-y, Afro Cuban All Stars, and the mayor of Barranquilla's YouTube channel, please don't sue us either. Learn more about your ad choices. Continuing our annual tradition of taking a break from Disney sequels, we finally tackle the film you've all been expecting us to cover: David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. Though it isn't the inspiration for the early California Adventure ride, Mulholland Madness, directly…it might have some similarities. If you have never seen the 2001 film, Mulholland Drive, and would like to avoid spoilers for a movie that was released over two decades ago you should probably be warned that this episode contains major spoilers as we go through the film more or less beat by beat in great detail. We do our best to make sense of this film while pondering essential questions such as: who is the King of Hollywood and is he in charge of The Casting Couch? Why are David Lynch's movies like that? Will Jimmy forgive Dan for making this choice? We cover all of this and more while a creepy, nightmarish soundscape by Third Uncle Violet plays in the background. Seriously, this whole episode is a spoiler. If you have any interest in seeing this movie without spoilers, do that and come back to hear us say things about it to you. In 1964 Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment produced a classic Christmas movie on television which, whether timeless or timely - or both, has probably had some amount of influence on every human being on this planet. Or, at the very least, on Tim Burton. Oh, you want to know the movie? Ok, it's Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. There. Happy now? Anyways, that's the movie Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan watched for this episode filled with all sorts of holiday cheer, product placement, and moments where they come dangerously close to canceling themselves. Will Jimmy cry as he teased in the last episode? Will Audrey and Dan let him get through his notes? You'll find the answer to these as well as every other possible question you may have ever had on what is possibly the dirtiest episode of Scraping The Vault we've recorded in a very long time. Dan is officially broken! Have you ever seen Monty Python? Well, so have the writers of this movie. they ride pretty hard on a few famous bits from the Monty Python crew. Jimmy liked it, Audrey was slightly swayed by Jimmy's joy and passion for the film. I mean, when I say Jimmy loved it, you gotta consider the context. Anyway, if you listen to our shows, you pretty much are disney parks nerds. Audrey is not. Ever wonder what a lay person would think of the new Magic Keys (annual passes) and the arbitrary words that make each key? Well, stay to the very end to find out. Atlantis 2: Hey! Remember that movie, Atlantis? Wait...keep reading. So there was a movie called Atlantis and like 5 people watched it. And now you have a chance to listen to the three people who watched its sequel talk about it in great detail. Will this movie be one of our favorites? Will it be a nightmare? All I'll say here is that it was so...however it was...that this time Jimmy clocks in with the most swears! (edited, as always). Buckle on them diving bells because gurgle gurgle whale sounds! Ahoy! 101 Dalmatians: Patch's London Adventure was released in 2003 to rave reviews. Not really. But it was released. Few people noticed. But we did in early July of 2021 when your podcasts besties Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan had a chance to record in person together for realsies to talk about it. Did they manage to make the audio sound ok? How will the EarzUp Podcast Network's new sponsorship arrangement change the show? Will Dan hate this one too? Again? You are about to find out. For we now invite you to join Mickey and experience Fantasmic!—a journey beyond your wildest imagination. Or...the dog movie, that is.
Tarzan and Jane is a 2002 sequel to the 1999 animated feature, Tarzan. You podcast friends, Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan watched it with results that might surprise you but also might make sense based on our “characters” and how each of us have been responding to this odd experiment we have decided to perform on ourselves. Sort of like Jane's dad! There's the tie in! For the kids?
Disney Animation Studios The Hunchback of Notre Dame is arguable the best "Musical" of the 1990's Disney Renaissance. Hunchback 2 also exists. Listen to Dan, Audrey and Jimmy detail why this movie is either the best of the straight to video sequels, or the worst. You decide. Listen to Jimmy explain why The original release was so formative to his life and how he influenced Dan to watch it and also love it. Audrey was likely still in the womb at that time. Will Jason's Nephew Asher make an appearance, or is this show absurd enough without him? Enjoy Also, we talk a lot about Lindsay Ellis' YouTube breakdown of the original film and we highly recommend you give it a watch and all the rest of her content is also amazing. If you decide to watch, tell her in the comments where you hear about her and tell her to come on our show. Here's the link
Never one to know when to quit, Disney follows up their 1997 hit(?), Belle’s Enchanted Christmas, with 1998 2002’s Belle’s Magical World Cinderella II. Jimmy, Audrey, and Dan boldly go where they explicitly suggest nobody go in this 3 part episodic return to the Beauty and the Beast Cinderella Cinematic Universe. Enjoy all of the lessons that are learned while each one of your podcast friends experiences a separate and very personal moment of discomfort.
Cats is a movie that actually was released in theatres back in the before times when that happened back in 2019. It is based on the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical of the same name...kind of. Enjoy our third and final installment of our format-breaking saga that started with Jimmy wanting to watch A Very Brady Christmas, Dan wanting to watch Perri for Valentine’s Day, and now Audrey unintentionally opening up a series of rabbit holes involving the existential dread that is Cats in all of its forms. Enjoy as we explore the important questions: is Jimmy a furry? Are cats dogs? Does Dan have a soul? Is Justice League accidentally a comedy? Is this movie accidentally porn? All the usual questions are answered in this episode of Scooping The Box.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day a bit early we’ve decided to cover a film that is a love story for the ages - and for all species: Perri. Released in 1957, the film follows the very real, very accurate, and not at all edited TRUE STORY of Perri. She is a Disney Princess who just happens to be a squirrel and any of you who feel otherwise can kindly take your negativity elsewhere. Cuddle up with a loved one before, after, or during Together Time and listen as Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan delight in all of the wonders that nature alone filmed without any intervention by any men in short sleeved dress shirts. At all. Artwork by Fiona Condon Sign The Perri Petition today: https://tinyurl.com/princessperri
Happy Holidays! Join your yuletide friends Audrey, Jimmy, and Dan as they watch and review the beloved Disney holiday classic: A Very Brady Christmas. In this episode we address the holidays in general as well as dissect this movie that one of us loves unironically. If you listen to our shows it’s probably not much of a surprise who. Listen as we talk about our very Brady memories, gender roles, whether or not the Bradys are a cult, and so much more - all while Dan and Audrey try to make Jimmy cry on mic. Will they do it? Will you listen? One or more answers to those questions is yes. Maybe.
Lady & The Tramp 2: Scamps Adventure is a movie. You can watch it if you want to but you might want to listen to this first to find out all you need to know about it. This of course involves discussion about the lineage of Jim Dear and the Dear family, who let which dogs out and for what purpose, and whether or not Tony is a stable adult human being who can be trusted to be in public. Join Audrey (voiced by Audrey), Jimmy (voiced by Jimmy), and Dan (voiced by Alyssa Milano) for this pawtastic howling good podcast. I mean pawcast. P.S. Image is Paul Pressler
The Tower of Terror made for TV movie was an instant "classic"? This unique filmed adaptation based on the ride of the same name was slightly less successful than others. Less successful than the multi billion$ Pirates franchise, but perhaps slight more successful than Eddie Murphy's Haunted Mansion film? The tower of Terror movie was one of Steve Gutenberg's last and one of Kerstin Dunst's first. Circle of life.. Listen to Dan, Audrey and Jimmy scare you with how frighteningly bad made for TV movie. Enjoy this special Halloween release of Scraping the Vault Photo Courtesy of Dan
Ariel (The little Mermaid) is back and ready for adventure! Actually, she’s kind of busy with...castle things so it’s her daughter’s turn to go...Beneath The Ocean! In the process you’ll also learn a few new things about insurance and voice acting. Really, we should be charging you tuition for this podcast. We have a new name.
