How to Ride TRON Lightcycle Run Before it Opens to the Public on April 4 Disney travelers are anticipating the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run, which is scheduled to officially open on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park.But did you know that before the attraction officially opens there will likely be an opportunity for certain guests to get a ride? Cast members always get this perk (understandably) but Disney has basically said that Annual Passholders and eligible Disney Vacation Club Members will also be given an opportunity to throw their hats in the ring for this major perk.We don't know the details yet, but there will likely be a rush to get a spot once details are announced.The story of the ride is that it picks up after the “TRON: Legacy” story where Kevin's son, Sam Flynn, has opened a second gateway into a digital world called the Grid. The first portal to this world was built at Shanghai Disneyland with the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run. So it's fun how Disney has worked to continue the story and didn't just make this a copy of the Shanghai version.As the ride goes, you will be Team Blue against the Grid's menacing Programs, Team Orange. Your goal is to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and secure victory. How this all pans out remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Tron Lightcycle Run will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.---The Positive Changes at Walt Disney World Resort: If you're a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder you'll soon be able to visit the theme parks after 2:00 p.m. without needing a park pass reservation. The only exclusions are Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom Park and pass blackout dates. You can once again self-park at Walt Disney World hotels at no cost when you are a guest staying there. When you buy Disney Genie+ you'll also get free digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass attraction photos taken in the park on the day of your purchase. --- The Positive Changes at Disneyland  Starting February 4, 2023, if you have a Disneyland theme park ticket with a Magic Key pass or a Park Hopper ticket you can start hopping two hours earlier – starting at 11:00 a.m.  Disneyland will offer nearly two-months-worth of $104 park ticket dates throughout 2023, which means more opportunities to enjoy the lowest price one-day, one-park tickets. Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads taken on any Disney PhotoPass attraction during a park visit will be complimentary for ticketed park guests on the Disneyland app starting February 4 and lasting for the Disney 100 celebration. Disneyland Resort will make select Magic Key passes available for new sales from time to time throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available.  --Tiana's Palace Coming to Disneyland Park in 2023Just as Tiana transformed an old sugar mill into her dream restaurant in “The Princess and the Frog,” Disney is transforming the French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park into a news restaurant called Tiana's Palace.Tiana's Palace will feature peach-colored walls and green wrought-iron balconies with elegant fixtures and appointments reminiscent of Tiana's film life. This should fit nicely into the current vibe of New Orleans Square. The new quick-service restaurant will offer guests an authentic New Orleans menu and expand on the current items served at the location.To make the change, the French Market Restaurant (and Mint Julep Bar) will be closed as of February 17, 2023, and will reopen as Tiana's Palace (alongside the Mint Julep Bar with its famous mint juleps and Mickey beignets) later in 2023.--- Moonlight Magic is Back 2023 Disney Vacation Club members, mark your calendars: Disney California Adventure - February 1, 2023EPCOT - February 8 and 15, 2023Disney's Hollywood Studios - May 11 and September 13, 2023Disney's Animal Kingdom Park - July 11 and August 2, 2023Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park - May 23 and August 23, 2023 -- Pool Closures at Disney Aulani in Early 2023Aulani's two popular water slide pool areas are closing for refurbishment. Starting February 4th, guests with the ability to park hop will be able to switch parks at 11am, instead of the current 1pm time. More dates have been added to the calendar at the $104 ticket level, bringing it up to nearly two months of days at the lowest ticket price. Throughout the Disney100 celebration, digital attraction photos will be complimentary starting February 4th. This is limited to digital attraction photos only. Also announced were more opportunities to join the Magic Key program throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available. Earl of Sandwich, the sandwich shop that was torn down with the rest of the AMC theater complex has announced its return. The fully refurbished location should return after a "short time" according to Disney. Din Tai Fung, which was announced at the D23 Expo this year has some new concept art. In the concept art, there is a round bar surrounded by tables for diners to eat at. The adult meal is $45 per adult, with the child meal priced at $25 per person. The coffee cups are a similar design, with the standard soda cups sporting red along with the purple, sharing the color scheme with Coca-Cola. The Resort announced the return of Sweetheart's Nite, with the addition of Princess Nite later on in the Spring. Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts Nite will take place on January 31, February 2, 5, 7, 9, 14, and 16th. This event will include a themed fireworks show, Dance at the Royal Ball near "it's a small world," live jazz music on the Mark Twain, and more. For Princess Nite on March 7th and 9th, Princess Minnie and Daisy will have a royal greeting for guests at the Main Street Station, a musical concert celebrating heroines, a high-energy, candy-themed dance party at Tomorrowland's stage and more. The news happened Sunday evening, while the stock market was closed. Bob Iger sent an email out to all the employees of the company with more information to come. Once the market opened on Monday, the stock has risen 9%. Chapek out as CEO, Iger to return for two years In a shocking announcement on the evening of Sunday November 20th, Disney revealed that Bob Chapek would be stepping down as CEO effective immediately and Bob Iger will be returning for two years. The Disney Board of Directors had previously renewed Bob Chapek's contract for three years back in June. The change is said to have blindsided Chapek and his closest allies with sources stating Disney's board reached out to Iger on Friday to replace Chapek as CEO, without any other serious candidates in mind. Source: CNN, Blog Mickey Mickey's Toontown to reopen at Disneyland March 8th The Disney Parks Blog has revealed Mickey's Toontown in California's Disneyland resort will open on March 8th. Disney had prevously announces Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway will open on January 27th. The areas of the land are include the following: The reimagined Mickey's Toontown will provide open, grassy play spaces for everyone to unwind, starting with CenTOONial Park. This park will be anchored by two new interactive play experiences; a beautiful fountain featuring water tables designed for play that invite guests to have a sensory experience, plus a nearby dreaming tree with sculpted tree roots providing an opportunity for children to crawl and explore. Over in Goofy's neck of the woods, you'll find Goofy's How-To-Play Yard. It incorporates a whimsical sound garden where kids will discover new ways to make wacky noises, as well as enjoy an all-new, elevated clubhouse. Chip ‘n' Dale's GADGETcoaster, where Mickey's Toontown's favorite tinkerer, Gadget Hackwrench, has created a one-of-a-kind, fun-sized coaster for the town's tiniest citizens. Donald's Boat will be perched in the duck pond of the Goof homestead. Larger-than-life spinning water lilies, balance beams and rocking toys at Donald's Duck Pond will help little ones get the wiggles out. Finally, at Mickey's House and Minnie's House, guests can once again step right into their homes and enjoy a self-guided tour with special surprises in every room. The Inspire, Believe, and Magic keys were available for new sales, but the Enchant key was only available for renewals. Waits on the website were often greater than an hour to register. By mid-day on Thursday, sales were again suspended. Source: KTLA Disney Cruise Line buys Global Dream ship Disney Cruise Line announced plans to complete the cruise ship previously known as the Global Dream in Wismar, Germany. The ship will be renamed with certain features reimagined under the expertise of Walt Disney Imagineers. The new ship is to be based outside the United States, The 208,000-gross-ton ship is expected to be among the first in the cruise industry to be fueled by green methanol, one of the lowest emission fuels available. Disney Cruise Line expects the passenger capacity to be approximately 6,000 with around 2,300 crew members. The land for this initiative is west of State Road 429, just a few miles away from the Magic Kingdom, near schools and shopping, including Flamingo Crossings Town Center. The most noticable change is the snow covering the roof of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The Candy Cane dates have been announced for this year. Guests can pick up a candy cane at the Candy Palace on Main Street, inside Disneyland on December 4th, 6th, 11th, 13th, 18th, 20th, and 24th. Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure will have them on December 5th, 7th, 12th, 14th, 19th, 21st, and 25th. There will be a mobile waitlist like last year. M'Baky will also be greeting guests, but will also be recruiting for a new experience called The Way of the Jabari. The Black Panther Celebration Garden will be next to Avengers Campus and will be a place that guests can relax and honor the legacy of Black Panther. In the Hollywood Backlot, the Flavors of Wakanda marketplace will have flavorful, spiced traditional African dishes.
