Note: This podcast is FULL SPOILERS for ALL seasons of Dexter from episode 1. What killed Dexter? When was it killed? And why did it happen? These are the questions that have kept Eric and Daniel up at night. Join them every Tuesday as they rewatch Dexter week after week and see what the show does brilliantly and what the show does terribly. If they're lucky, they might even find out: What killed it?
Don't cry because it's over, cry because it happened. After ten episodes of permanently altering their brain chemistry for the worst, Eric and Daniel have arrived at the end of Dexter: Original Sin. For now. Will Aaron Spencer end up with an interesting motivation for his crimes? Will Laura Moser posthumously become interesting? Will Gio, Sofia, or Tanya matter in the slightest? Only one way to find out. Daniel bemoans the nonsense "choice" Dexter is given. Eric is dumbfounded by just how nothing most of the characters are. They both remain perplexed at this season's popularity and hope history will prove them right.
In this season's penultimate podcast episode, Eric and Daniel have truly never felt more lost, and Daniel has potentially never felt more despair. After a brief moment of doubt, their instincts about the True Culprit ends up being correct, it's the police! Deb's relationship fizzles out and it turns out the boring vagrant murders were Brian All Along! Don't you feel dumb now that this bad storyline was actually about someone you care about...Daniel loses all hope. Eric wonders who the hell this show is for. They both are in absolute awe that this show is being praised.
We have crossed the fifty yard line of Dexter Original Sin, and it's time to ask the important question: has anything actually happened on this show? Dexter and Harry butt heads as Debra and Dexter get high and bond. Daniel thinks everyone's psychology is all wrong. Eric thinks he's cracked the code on the killer. They both wonder just how low this season may end up in their rankings.
In a first (?) for The Autopsy of Dexter Morgan, Eric and Daniel give you their insight into not one, not two, but three Dexter Original Sin episodes! Patrick Gibson loses the terrible young Dexter Wig and gains a little juice, but is it enough? Daniel hates Teen Deb, Eric is baffled by lack of character development (or even just "stuff to do") for the returning secondary cast. They both don't remember Teen Deb's friend's name.
We're really back here? Again? After trudging through nine season, 106 episodes of Dexter, and overall not having a good time, Eric and Daniel are deciding to go back to before it all began. Except first they get a coda to New Blood because of course Dexter survived being shot by his son.How did they like the premiere? Well, one of your hosts thinks this is the worst season opener and the other thinks it is, at best, a bottom 15 episode of the whole show. Daniel loses it at Harry's "tragic origin story," Eric wonders who this show is for. They are both overall unimpressed by new actors doing impressions of old actors.
Another show is done. How does Lost stand up to Dexter? It might be closer than you think? Where do Eric and Daniel go from here? Wherever that is, we hope you both come with us!If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Y'all, we can't believe it. After all of this emotional, spiritual, metaphysical, time traveling journey, it turns out none of it was real and that the island was just a dream the whole time. OR WAS IT? The Lost finale was controversial years ago, but apparently has only grown more divisive with time. Spoiler alert: At least one of your hosts has a bone to pick with this sentiment! If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! After all this time, it's time to flash back to the origins of the Man in Black and Jacob. Surely this will provide some critical context to let us know what is going on, and won't just tell us that Kingdom Hearts, er, the Island is light, right? Well, whatever. We're back on the island and things are getting ready to wind down. Are y'all ready for The End? One of the most controversial finales OF ALL TIME?If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! We're in the endgame now, folks. After a season of mixed results in the prime and sideways timelines, Lost proves that it still has tricks up its sleeves and knows how to hit you in the gut and payoff years worth of build up. Matthew Fox and Terry O'Quinn remind you who the real stars of the show are, and we mourn some lost characters (and Lost character) who did not get as much to do in later seasons before their demise. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Now is a good time for the final season of Lost to start to hit its stride, and leave it to Desmond and Hurley to start to get the momentum flowing! We spend a lot of time in the flash sideways as clues are hiding in plain sight, although Daniel remains none the wiser. They praise Hurley, a character they have both adored from the start yet still somehow feels underrated. Tune in next week for Vincent to rescue Desmond from the well.If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! We have crossed the halfway point of season 6, and if what you have been waiting for is the answer to "what in the world is this ageless man's DEAL anyway?" Boy do we have an episode for you. As great as our Richard episode is, Sun and Jin continue to be amazing characters who unfortunately don't have much to do. Daniel questions Jacob, Eric delights in teasing the final fate of our characters. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! If there is one way to get your boys Daniel and Eric excited for Lost, it's to let Michael Emerson do his thing while they sit back and marvel. We get some unexpected catharsis and possible redemption for our favorite villain, while Daniel is stunned that a Claire/Kate scene can be really touching? They wonder about Michael playing PS3 and have maybe the most ill-advised recap yet.If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Boy with how long we've heard about the Temple and how much fanfare there was to get there, you sure would think it would matter more, wouldn't ya? Fortunately we get a Very Emotional Jack to usher us through these episodes, even though Sayid continues his latter season stretch of disappointment. Where does season 6 go now? Hopefully somewhere interesting! If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! After a brilliant season premiere, what better way to chase it than with a Kate episode? Because if there is one thing that will make Kate stand out as a character, it's pairing her with Claire, another character who has struggled to remain compelling! Fortunately, after this lackluster episode we get to meet DR. BENJAMIN LINUS, restoring balance to the universe. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Here we are! The final season of Lost where we somehow find out there's another POV change besides flashback and flashforward. After an inconsistent season 5, Eric and Daniel are both very intrigued by where this final season can go. They ponder the implications of the Smoke Monster and Ash circles, and Daniel may or may not be gaslighting Eric about something he said with respect the future Kate episodes. We'll find out next week!If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Do you hear that? That was the sound of the Greatest Conspiracy Theory of ALL TIME reaching its end. Long may it reign. It's another triple decker for Eric and Daniel, as they reached the climax of season 5, but before that get to have a delightful romp with our two characters who can talk to ghosts, witness the fated demise of one of their favorite new characters, and watch as things start to collapse around the idyllic lives Sawyer and Juliet built for themselves. Daniel can't wait to be proven 100% right about his pet theory for the show. Eric cheated and already watched the finale. They'll both be ready to talk about it next week!If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! This week as Eric and Daniel continue season 5, they enter what feels like eerie territory as what appears to be a scene from Dexter involving a supermarket and a blond child infiltrates their Lost season. While a Kate Episode tries to bring them down, the dynamic between Locke and Ben continues to be riveting, as we get another close look a the Smoke Monster and have to wonder, what's this things deal?!? If you're a fan of diverging opinions, here's the episode for you! One of your dear hosts is really feeling these two, and the other thinks the show might be threatening to fall apart at the seems. Well, that may be a slight exaggeration, but they are on opposite sides of the spectrum here. We dive into the past in a focus free episode, and Eric thinks we're starting to get a bit repetitive with some of our flashbacks. But hey, flashbacks ar back! Time is nice and simple and easy to understand now.If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Lost season 5 has some...growing pains as we finally learn more about the mysterious "Jeremy Bentham," but do we actually learn anything? Eric has issues with a pretty crucial death in the series but Daniel doesn't think it's a big deal. Back on the island, time gets pretty messed up much to Daniel's delight. We're keeping it brief this week, folks. Lost season 5 continues it's...gradual ramp up leaving Eric and Daniel hoping that dominos will really start to fall next week. At least they are all finally (?) back on the island. Daniel is somewhat satisfied by more details about what happened to the French, but Eric is frustrated by some sloppiness that comes along with it. They're both waiting for the other shoe to finally drop.If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! We dive deeper into Lost season 5. Things are going...okay so far. It might be the fourth of July, but Eric and Daniel take no holidays! Except for the month long one they took earlier this summer but we digress. Lost season 5 begins and the separation of flashback/flash forward/present time/on island becomes...a little murky to say the least. Daniel gives a recap of Kingdom Hearts and Eric wants to bust out the Xbox 360 to play Lost Via Domus. It's gonna be a good season. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! After quite the delay, Eric and Daniel are back to send off Lost season 4. We get answered, we get a lot of questions, we get a character in a casket, and we get CONFIRMATION that a polar bear moved the island before. Daniel praises the hell out of Sun and Jin. Eric leads Daniel to the intersection of time and space and islands. They both are excited for how bonkers this show continues to get.If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Lost season 4 is ready to hit its climax, but first we have to see what the heck is going on with Jack, Locke, and Ben as we wonder what is going on with Christian (The Smoke Monster?), Claire, and poor Alex. If you clowns have been paying any attention at all during this watch of Lost, you know that Eric and Daniel love a good Sun/Jin episode. So BOY HOWDY are they excited by the narrative trickery that is Ji Yeon. Daniel's hopes and dreams for an Astral Projecting Walter are crushed forever, but some dreams are too beautiful to live on forever. Get ready for back to back Jumbo Episodes as we'll be doing three episodes each of the next two weeks, and then somehow season 4 is done!If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! If you had told Daniel after he watched Flashes Before Your Eyes, one of the best episodes of television of all time, "Oh yeah, there's another time travel Desmond episode coming up that a lot of people think is even better," he would've called you a liar. Enter, The Constant. An episode so great it manages to make up for our first less than stellar Juliet episode. Daniel almost figured out an important plot point but puts it through Google translate a few too many times. Eric continues to adore Daniel (Faraday, not his dumb cohost). They both wish they had a bro as great as Sayid in The Constant. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! After a riveting opening to the season, we get a few plot heavy episodes that don't really move the plot forward all that much, which Daniel Faraday can probably explain how that is possible. Sayid grows a majestic set of hair as Kate does he best Marie from Breaking Bad impression and snatches dat baby. Daniel thinks Jack is bald. Eric grows more weary of the episodes as things go on. The both (shocker) find Kate annoying. This is a big episode for fans of references to The Stormlight Archive or Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors.
It might be a shorter season of Lost, but Eric and Daniel have a whole lot to discuss in this season 4 opener as we see a sad Hugo off the island and meet four new characters who might be hiding certain things from the crash victims! Eric and Daniel are both so happy to see Lance Reddick appear on Lost and are completely oblivious that less than six months after recording this he will sadly no longer be doing amazing work on Earth. An inconsistent season comes to an end, but does inconsistency doom season three? Or is an absolutely STACKED back half able to catapult this season towards the top? We go back to the future with a depressed Jack, bid farewell to Charlie, and cheer as Hurley runs over people with his Dharma van. Has Lost been worth the investment for Daniel so far? Is Eric changing his tune on season three? Will they ever find out if there are dinosaurs? Tune in to find out!If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Y'all ready for a big one? As season 3 primes itself for an explosive finale, Eric and Daniel tackle three episodes of the show in one. Statistically speaking, one of these episodes should've been a little bit of a dud, but instead Lost gives us back to back to back home runs. We find out about Sawyer's namesake, meet Ben's Dumb Dead Dad, and somehow end up with a satisfying Charlie redemption arc, something Eric and Daniel would've called impossible at the start of the season. After a season of incredible highs and pitiful lows, how can it top itself in the finale? Tune in next week for an EVEN LONGER episode. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Don't look now, but Lost is on something of a hot streak as season 3 is heading towards its sure to be explosive climax. We have a solid Desmond episode that cannot possibly live up to the first Desmond episode (but surely that will never be topped...) and a Sun episode that knocks it out of the park and crystalizes everything great and terrible about Sun and Jin's relationship. Daniel believes in the power of Love. Eric thinks its okay if one of the next episodes is a dud. They're both ready to watch not one, not two, but THREE Lost episodes to get all set for the finale after next week!If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! If y'all thought last week's episode was wild where Eric and Daniel both said they liked Expose, wait until you hear what they think about a Kate episode! We get an appropriate thematic pair this week as Juliet joins (?) the crash victims and we delve deeper into her past after an Odd Couple outing with Kate. Daniel and Eric fight about math and things get a little silly again. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Here we are, the episode Eric has been dreading. The fabled, controversial, possibly darkly hilarious Nikki and Paolo episode. But before we can get there we need to go through Locke vs Linus Round 2, in a stunning episode that makes Daniel eat his words that he made about John Locke last week. Was Expose as bad as Eric feared? Was it WORSE? Or...was it something else entirely. We're past the halfway point of an inconsistent season with blistering highs and frustrating lows. This week Eric and Daniel discuss two episodes, one focusing on one of Lost's strongest characters and the other on one of its less consistent. We see Sayid confront an old acquaintance and it turns out Daniel was right about a secret relationship between two characters. Daniel has a couple of wild conspiracies and Eric is absolutely dreading an upcoming episode. How will their thoughts age? After the miraculous comeback the Lost made in the previous two episodes, we follow an incredible stretch with some, to put it lightly, polarizing episodes among fans of the show. Daniel is lukewarm on an episode that fills Eric with the rage of 1000 suns, and they both like an episode where everyone just kinda chills. We find out how Jack got his tattoos and Hurley, Jin, Charlie, and Sawyer fix a van and drink Dharma beer. Is one of these episodes as bad as Eric thinks, or is Daniel taking crazy pills? How do you follow up arguably the worst two episode stretch of Lost? With arguably the best two episode stretch of Lost, so phenomenally good that is has single handedly redeemed the season for Daniel, although Eric still warns him to beware what is to come. We learn what brings Juliet to the island and that she might be just as much a prisoner as Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. We find out more about Desmond's love and her bastard father. And we discover that the clock is ticking for Charlie, despite Desmond's best efforts. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Lost season 3 has been, to put it mildly, a mixed bag thus far, and the problems of the season as well as new issues in these episodes are rapidly piling up. Are these the episodes that finally put Daniel in a similar headspace that he was in during Dexter? And can Eric mentally deal with the fact that he has two episodes down the line that he is NOT looking forward too and already the season is going down the drain? Mr. Eko dies a needless death and we don't even understand the lore going on. Kate has a strong contender for the worst flashbacks in the show. People waited 13 weeks between this episode and the next back in 2006! Daniel probably would've stopped watching at that point, but would he regret it?If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Season 3 of Lost gives us John Locke on a weed farm commune and Sawyer/Kate, and Daniel is just deranged enough to gaslight himself into thinking one of these episodes is not complete trash. Despite some missteps there are still some promising plots in these episodes, such as Desmond beginning his fortune teller career and the start of Jack and Juliet getting to know each other more. And, most importantly, despite the fact that for our Dexter seasons Daniel had a recurring segment all about RuPaul's Drag Race, today's episode contains, without a doubt, the gayest segment of the podcast yet.If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! The season of the button, the Hatch, and 108 is over, the age of strange mind games in the suburbs is upon us! Join Eric and Daniel, two clowns who at the time of recording this are once again blissfully unaware that Dexter is coming back to haunt their lives and punish them for their sins. Daniel is optimistic about the season, Eric is quite nervous. But it's okay, things have to get worse before they get better, and believe them, in both Lost and in Life, things will get worse. Extra! Extra! Double decker Desmond finale leaves Daniel desperately desiring Desmond not dead! An uneven but still enjoyable sophomore season of Lost comes to an end, giving us answers but even more questions. The Others are one step ahead of our gang and we find out Just What Happens if you do not push The Button. Daniel unfortunately thinks Desmond is dead (or they're all dead now), Eric casually spoils a major plot point for future seasons and Daniel is none the wiser. Season 2 is nearly in the bag, and a mixed bag it has been. Fortunately for Eric and Daniel, this is a better set of episodes than the last two which put them both excited for the finale. As we reach the endgame for Lost season 2, a pair of overall solid episodes makes Daniel and Eric wonder, where exactly is all this going. They're sad but more frustrated by some seemingly early deaths and enjoy learning more about Rose and Bernard. Daniel figured out a mostly meaningless future plot point. Eric spoils a mostly meaningless future plot point. They both dislike Ana Lucia's final flashbacks. Boy howdy, what a pair of episodes. A strong contender for the best episode of the show paired with a strong contender for the worst. This week things go bad in the hatch and in Hurley's mind, as the mysteries of the island deepen and we wonder just what is up with Henry Gale? Daniel has some theories about Libby. Eric enjoys Sawyer getting beat up. They both reminisce about mid/late 00s NCAA basketball. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Season two continues to ramp up as we learn about what happened to Claire during an overall not great amnesia plotline and the marital woes of Jin and Sun return before leaving them in a (?) better place? And most importantly, we get even more Henry Gale. Eric loves the episode 16 ending. Daniel's conspiracies are getting weirder. They both are excited for more season 2!If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! When you get a Sawyer and a Sayid episode in the same two episode stretch, you know you're in for a good time. Eric and Daniel are delighted as their favorite sleeze cons both the passengers of Oceanic 815 and them as listeners, and we meet a strange man named Henry Gale who probably will only be around for a few episodes and won't be that important going forward. Daniel doubles down on time travel. Eric thinks things are getting bleak. They both think everyone is losers. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! We're halfway through the sophomore season of Lost, and Daniel, possibly incorrectly, thinks he knows where things are going. We see Jack's marriage fall apart and Charlie try to drown, er, baptize a child. Daniel thinks there might be clones. Eric enjoys Jack's struggles. They both are way too easy on a bad episode. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! With our scattered characters reunited, Lost takes a much needed breather and does some less plot heavy character work. We finally get the answer to Kate's mystery and Mr. Eko goes on a plane adventure with Charlie. Daniel thinks Kate's dad is a horse. Eric thinks Kate's dad is a horse. They both have brain worms. If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! At long last, our two groups separated by a boat are reunited. But first, we must get introduced to the back half of the plane and understand why Ana Lucia is the way she is. We get more brief interactions with the Others and contemplate how these soon to be season long character arcs for the new characters will turn out...Daniel thinks about pregnancy. Eric gives Ana Lucia a nickname. They both are so excited to find out what Kate did.If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it! Lost season 2 continues to be a season of mostly unpleasant things happening to people, and Eric and Daniel being the sick fools that they are continue to eat it up! We see Jin quit a terrible job, Shannon try to get away from a terrible mom, and Walt astral project through the universe using Vincent as a conduit (editor's note: that last one has not been confirmed at all). Eric notes Jack isn't much of a presence in these episodes. Daniel against all odds doubles down on his parallel island theory. They're both excited to learn more about the others (not the Others). If you enjoyed the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen to it!
