This is not a serious review. This is me, a girl who loves Dexter maybe a little too much, sitting down to scream into the mic about Dexter: Resurrection. We'll revisit the original show, throw some shade at New Blood, and then dive into the chaos of this new season that somehow feels just as good as the classic Dexter we all got obsessed with. Consider this episode my therapy session about America's favorite serial killer.P.S. The sound is a bit weird because I had some issues with the microphone. Hopefully you'll still enjoy tho!

Criminals Minds or Copycat Crimes? What happens when fiction cuts too close to reality? In this chilling episode of Mysteries, Mayhem & Merlot, we explore how the cult-favorite TV series Dexter—a show about a blood-spatter analyst who moonlights as a vigilante serial killer—inspired real-life murders. From the infamous “Dexter Killer” Mark Twitchell to the shocking crimes of Bryan Kohberger, the accused Idaho murderer and criminology student, we dive deep into the psychology behind these twisted copycats. With Dexter: Resurrection reigniting fan obsession, we're asking the big questions: Can pop culture influence violent behavior? Where does admiration for a fictional character cross the line into dangerous territory? And how eerily close are Kohberger's alleged actions to Dexter Morgan's calculated code? THE ICE TRUCK KILLER REVEALED?!? Dexter Full Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects Watch DC Studios Showcase on the Max YouTube channel and listen wherever you get your podcasts! https://link.chtbl.com/DCStudiosShowcase With DEXTER: RESURRECTION Airing now on Hulu, Andrew & John continue their binge giving their DEXTER Season 1 Episodes 5–8 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis & Spoiler Review!! Andrew Gordon and John Humphrey continue their dive into Showtime's critically acclaimed 2006 psychological thriller Dexter, breaking down episodes 5–8 of Season 1 as Miami's most calculated killer keeps one step ahead of law enforcement—while the Ice Truck Killer taunts him with haunting personal clues. Created by James Manos Jr. and based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, the series follows forensic blood spatter analyst Dexter Morgan by day, and meticulous vigilante serial killer by night. Key moments across these four episodes include the disturbing hotel room tableau recreated by the Ice Truck Killer, Debra's major career move, Paul's violent reentry into Rita's home life, and a major break in the case that brings Dexter face-to-face with repressed trauma. These midseason episodes push Dexter toward unraveling his past as the line between predator and protector becomes dangerously thin. Set in Miami, the series follows Dexter Morgan, a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who moonlights as a vigilante serial killer targeting those who've escaped justice. Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under, Safe) delivers a career-defining performance as Dexter, balancing eerie charm with calculating precision. In a first (?) for The Autopsy of Dexter Morgan, Eric and Daniel give you their insight into not one, not two, but three Dexter Original Sin episodes! Patrick Gibson loses the terrible young Dexter Wig and gains a little juice, but is it enough? Daniel hates Teen Deb, Eric is baffled by lack of character development (or even just "stuff to do") for the returning secondary cast. They both don't remember Teen Deb's friend's name.
Dexter Morgan is back… but this time, we're diving into his dark origins. Dexter: Original Sin takes us to the late ‘80s / early 90s exploring how young Dexter became the methodical serial killer we know and fear. With Patrick Gibson stepping into the role and Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, does this prequel live up to the legacy of the original series? Or is it just another cash-grab spin-off?In this review, I break down the story, performances, and whether Dexter: Original Sin is worth your time. Let's talk about the Code, the kills, and if this prequel delivers!==========================Lets Connect
When you take on a role that somebody else made famous, it's not easy. Patrick Gibson knew when he started playing a younger version of Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan, a Miami serial killer, in Dexter: Original Sin, that risk is “farther to fall, in a way.” Hall “can't even be turning in his grave,” because he's still very much involved with the role. “It must be a weird thing to see somebody else step into that, but I have to say he was so generous and welcoming, I think because he was a part of it getting made.” What makes this origin story so fascinating is that we get to see a time when Dexter didn't have his murders perfected. “He really is relying on his base instincts and the lessons that he's picking up from just starting working in Miami Metro.” There's also “a loneliness at that time of his life that I think was interesting and felt human.” And while he's very much a psychopath, the audience is still rooting for him. “I think it's that weird Robin Hood moral gray area.” Gibson is ready for season two. “So much happens in season one, but there's also so much left unresolved.” See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
This past December, Showtime and Paramount expanded the #Dexter franchise with the prequel series, Original Sin. This show focused on Dexter Morgan's origins into becoming a serial killer and his developing relationships with his family and Miami Metro. T had outlined a number of things that he thought would lead to the 1st season being a success, so on the eve of the finale, how did things go? #dexteroriginalsin #dexterresurrection #showtime #paramountplus #michaelchall #christinamilian #christianslater #sarahmichellegellar #buffythevampireslayer #patrickdempsey #thanksgiving #scream3 #scream7 #dexternewblood

By the fall of 2008, Mark Twitchell could no longer control his dark urges. And so the 29-year-old filmmaker, husband, and father began luring unsuspecting victims to a rented garage in a quiet neighborhood. Believing they were going there to meet Tinder dates, these victims were quickly overtaken by a gun-wheedling monster in a hockey mask whose only plan was to torture and kill them in the style of Dexter Morgan--his favorite character on his favorite TV show.
