Television's favourite serial killer is set to return after an eight-year hiatus. The new series titled, Dexter: New Blood is set to premiere in November this year. The critically acclaimed show was arguably the most popular on television at the time but was let down by its underwhelming finale. The new limited series hopes to give Dexter Morgan a fitting farewell. So, here are some interesting trivia about Dexter, aka The Bay Harbour Butcher. 1. Jennifer Carpenter and John Lithgow will reprise their roles as Deborah Morgan and The Trinity Killer respectively for the upcoming limited series Dexter: New Blood, despite their characters being killed off in the original series.2. For the final season of Dexter, actor David Zayas, who played series regular Angel Batista, was replaced by his son David Zayas Jr as a stand-in for a few shots because of how similar they looked. 3. In season one of Dexter, he uses an alias to steal tranquillizer drugs. The alias he used was Patrick Bateman, which is Christian Bale's character from the film American Psycho4. The character Arthur Mitchel aka the Trinity Killer, played by John Lithgow has parallels to real-life serial killer, BTK Killer. They both led normal lives with families, and both were well-respected members of society. The BTK killer also features heavily in David Fincher's Netflix show, Mindhunter. That's some lesser-known trivia about Dexter for you on OTTplay Now You Know, I shall be back with another film or show soon, until then it's Nikhil outta here.

Tonight's the night. After years of deliberation and false starts, Eric and Daniel begin their journey to try to find out what killed Showtime's Dexter. In this pilot episode, they rename Angel Batista, praise the first episode, criticize the show as a whole, and gush over the magnetic screen presence of Erik King as James Doakes. Maybe next week they'll even remember to do a recap of the episode!Follow us on Twitter: @AutopsyDexterEmail us: TheAutopsyOfDexterMorgan@gmail.comTheme Song:Aquarium by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/5738-aquariumLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
David Zayas has so many television, film, and theater credits that it’s hard to believe he was also a New York City police officer for 15 years. He’s played a lot of fictional cops too, so many he’s lost count, but he says his career highlight was portraying Angel Batista for 8 seasons on Showtime's hit series “Dexter.” Before that he dabbled on the other side of the law, playing Enrique Moralez on the HBO drama “Oz.” He was an early member of the LAByrinth Theater company with Paul Calderone, John Ortiz, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and is currently the co-artistic director of the exciting Primitive Grace Theater Ensemble, with Calderon. In this episode he shares a little of what he's gleaned from being a working actor for nearly 30 years, alleviates a long-held fear I have about acting, and explains why he’d happily portray another cop.
The Bastards try to pick which actors resemble each other. It ends up as you would expect with people getting offended. Terlet fat shames, Sir Chapsworth gurgles, Hamtackle argues and Ramtang looks like Josh Hartnett. You’re telling me that that that… that shot of Angel Batista you have there doesn’t look like he’s trying to maybe, uh, playfully grab at your crotch? Classtard.
We're back to a normal show this week after the craziness of not one but two Comic-Cons over the last couple of weekends! I'm joined by the lovely Bex Trista of TristaBytes again to chat tv, film and gaming, plus we have 2 interviews this week - The first is with 'Riverdale' star Lochlyn Munro, aka Betty's dad Hal, and the second is with 'Lucifer' star Aimee Garcia, aka loveable lab geek, Ella Lopez.Whilst most #LuciFans will know Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez, LAPD's relentlessly upbeat forensic scientist in 'Lucifer', she is also extremely well known for playing Jamie, younger sister to Angel Batista in 'Dexter' and nanny to the serial killer's child. She's also popped up in a multitude of shows including 'Hawaii Five-0', 'Bones', 'Supernatural', nearly all the 'CSI's' and 'Family Guy'.Lochlyn Munro stars in 'Riverdale' as Betty's father Hal, who had an extremely interesting storyline this season (I won't go into any detail in case you've not watched it yet!) On tv, he played Jack Sheridan in 'Charmed', and has popped up in a huge number of shows such as 'Arrow', 'Bones', 'Supernatural', 'Smallville', and 'Lucifer'. On film, he's appeared in 'A Night at the Roxbury', 'White Chicks', 'Unforgiven', 'Freddy vs. Jason', and can soon be seen in 'The Predator', the fourth Predator movie due in UK cinemas on 14th September 2018.Also On This Week's Show:Bex joins me in the co-host so we chat about tv shows and films we've been watching since she was last on. We take a look at all the latest tv & film news, including the latest renewals & cancellations, ‘The Walking Dead’ cast turnover, casting news in general, and Bryan Fuller's status as the Littlest Hobo of the showrunner world. We give you our recommendations for upcoming TV in the next 7 days. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Was denkt die Serienrepublik? ;-)

Welcome to Dark Discussions podcast. Your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that's fantastic. After six seasons, Dexter, the cable television show about a serial killer that works as a forensic investigator for the Miami Police Department, will have its seventh season premiere on September 30th. While having seen his wife get murdered and fighting the evil which he calls his dark passenger threaten his secret, Dexter Morgan and the adventures of his colleagues continued last season with more twists than expected. In season six, Dexter's sister Debra is promoted to Lieutenant to become suddenly the superior of her more senior colleagues such as Sergeant Batista. Lieutenant LaGuerta is promoted to Captain. But was it due to skill or more nefarious ways? Forensic Analyst Masuka brings in a group of interns where each may have secrets that may not be so beneficial to the police department. A new monster-of-the-season arc brings us the Doomsday Killers. But is the duo actually who they appear to be? And lastly there are two controversial story lines that end the season. One includes Debra and her treatment with a psychiatrist. The other includes the possibility that a major character may have discovered who Dexter really is. Dark Discussions discusses the sixth season of the show to get everyone ready for the premiere of season seven. The various characters are discussed including some new additions as Jamie Batista, Angel Batista's sister, as well as Brother Sam which results in Dexter's re-evaluation of his serial killing ways. With a new and exciting season to begin, what better way to recap the story so far than discussing it with your co-hosts.
