This short podcast is a Q&A based on a question submitted to us by Andy Holt. Bryan gives some tips on how to go from service tech to service manager. Service managers may have better pay, but they also have different sources of stress than service technicians, and not all service tech skills will translate well to management. Service techs and service managers have completely different skill sets, and they have to be able to gain satisfaction from different sources. Service techs are satisfied by solving problems, and they get immediate dopamine hits whenever they use their brains and hands to fix someone's AC. Service managers have to find satisfaction in big wins for their team. Service managers have to manage processes and procedures around customer service; they are involved with customer service representatives and dispatchers. They also handle the most difficult clients and situations, so they need to be able to resolve conflict and stay calm in tense situations. Good service managers also learn to share wins with their teams and speak publicly so that they can inspire and motivate their teams. Service managers also manage finances, review reports, and send emails, so they need the skills necessary to do that, including writing skills (or technology to assist with writing skills). Leadership roles also require you to represent the policies and procedures of your organization, regardless of how you feel about them. These requirements may put a strain on interpersonal relationships. Have a question that you want us to answer on the podcast? Submit your questions at https://www.speakpipe.com/hvacschool. This podcast episode contains some of the questions and topics from the Business Round Table at the 4th Annual HVACR Training Symposium. Panelists include Tersh Blissett, Luke Peterson, and Andy Holt. One of the most critical parts of HVAC business ownership is knowing when to grow your business (i.e., hiring more techs and incorporating standalone maintenance and install departments). Ultimately, we need to think about how many service calls we're assigning to each technician per day and how many customers we have to turn down due to a busy schedule. Getting family members involved in the business can also have a range of positive and negative effects on a business. Delegating is another important skill that can help you run an HVAC business smoothly and focus on ownership and management over your day-to-day tasks. You need to understand your business's core processes but can delegate tasks that take time away from developing your business. When it comes to economic issues like inflation, we need to be looking at our own costs and competitors' costs to set our prices and pay our employees appropriately for the economic climate. We can use indicators like the consumer price index to assist with pricing and setting pay rates. Tersh, Luke, Andy, and Bryan also discuss: Key performance indicators (KPIs) Maintenance agreement frequency Talent acquisition vs. vetting Attracting vs. poaching employees Merit-based raises vs. cost-of-living raises Working "in" the business vs. working "on" the business Hiring people to handle day-to-day tasks Using Loom or similar video instruction software Support systems in your interpersonal relationships Motivation for starting a business Starting a business from scratch vs. acquisitions Explaining the difference between bids and online retail prices Learn more about the HVACR Training Symposium or buy a virtual ticket today at https://hvacrschool.com/symposium. Andy Holt joins the podcast to talk about what it means to be a 24-Hour Technician. We talk about what it means to be HVAC/R technicians AND deal with the human aspects of our lives at the same time. Service technicians differ from installers in that they do much of their work solitarily. They spend a lot of time by themselves. They're also on their feet very often and may do emotionally exhausting work, but they can earn a respectable living and accumulate savings for the future. To make our work and the emotional burdens that come with it more manageable, we can try to control how we react—take out head trash. Most people—but especially technicians—experience anxiety, and worrying about things takes a major toll on us. We also may need to apologize to people who we simply can't access. Andy goes over some of his best tips for dealing with those sources of worry. The goal is to eliminate negativity—clearing up negative aspects of your life and not being weighed down by individuals who negatively affect your life. As technicians, we do a lot of work to help other people, and the opportunities are endless for us. Customers may not always understand the value of the work we do, but we can bring positive experiences to them. We can find a lot of fulfillment in our work that way and bring positivity to our own lives. Andy and Bryan also discuss: Replacing negative thoughts with more positive ones The power of handshakes and eye contact Carrying burdens and being kind Apologies and forgiveness How to apologize to inaccessible people Being a “24-Hour person” Using overtime to avoid our lives outside of work How to manage anxiety Casting a future Andy Holt's Outdoor University To get in touch with Andy, visit https://toprate.com/ or call (706)-888-2332. This is an episode of ReThinking Sport, our series created in collaboration with Portas, the global strategy consultancy dedicated to sport and physical activity. Today's guest is Baroness Sue Campbell of Loughborough, the former chair of UK Sport who is now The FA's Director of Women's Football. We talk about the UEFA Women's Euros, currently taking place across England. We use this as a jumping off point to ask, what are The FA's hopes and plans for the women's game, how will the Women's Super League evolve, why has The FA decided against developing a relationship with private equity and what are the implications of these decisions. Sue Campbell is as ever, a straight talker and the result is a fascinating insight in to the game's present and future. One of the big ambitions of this series has been to look at the football market through the eyes of the people who own and control the clubs and the people in charge of the leagues and the sports' governing bodies. So previous episodes have featured Rick Parry, the chair of the EFL, Mark Bullingham, CEO of The FA and Kelly Simmons, head of the women's professional game at The FA and the WSL.On the club ownership side, we've had guests including Andy Holt, owner of Accrington Stanley, and Paul Conway, head of Pacific Media Group, one of the leading proponents of a multi-club ownership model, which is a feature of today's conversation with our guests Brett Johnson and Fabrice Bocquet. Andy Holt joins the podcast to discuss the ever-relevant topic of overcoming conflict at work. Some people end up in conflicts often, so Andy recommends paying attention to how others react to the conflict you have perceived; if you are much more stressed than everyone else, then you need to look internally, not externally. The first step to overcoming conflict is to slow down and think about your reactions to perceived conflicts. Partaking in bickering and gossip with coworkers creates a negative environment for the entire team; the best way to avoid or resolve conflicts is to handle them directly and sincerely ask the other party to start over. Overall, it's best to take the high road and take initiative to make things right. When dealing with conflict with bosses, it's best to separate emotion from the facts and keep discussions simply factual. It's good to be open, honest, and understand that you can't control your boss's response. As a boss dealing with employee conflict, it's a good idea to avoid firing on the spot and give employees a chance to think about the conflict at hand, such as by giving them a paid “cool-off period.” Customer conflicts may arise from pricing issues. The technician can ease tensions by quoting jobs up front and bundling services to show the customer where the value is. To resolve conflicts with customers, the best thing to do is be attentive to their concerns. Andy and Bryan also discuss: “Designing” a reaction Dealing with big egos Letting people go Working towards agreements vs. forcing bargains Dealing with hot tempers Taking ownership of comfort problems MeasureQuick and fact-based conversations If you have an iPhone, subscribe to the podcast HERE, and if you have an Android phone, subscribe HERE. Andy Holt is the hugely successful entrepreneur who in 2015 stepped into save his local football club Accrington Stanley FC from financial ruin. The club was one of the English Football League's original founding members in 1888 and remains one of its smallest. But the club has been transformed under Holt's ownership, winning promotion to EFL League One in 2018. “Let's be clear," he said when he bought the Accrington Stanley. "Whatever individual, company or other entity owns the club is largely irrelevant, because this isn't a business venture. Has anyone ever made a profit out of Accrington Stanley? In 50 years I will be dust blowing in the wind - hopefully our input will mean the club is not!”That's a sentence that's sure to resonate with any fans of Derby County, Bury or Macclesfield Town, EFL clubs which have recently gone bankrupt and which are sure to be joined by others as they struggle against an array of problems, from bad owners, the Covid shutdown and the economics of lower league football. Andy Holt listened to our recent conversation with EFL chairman Rick Parry and responded in depth via Twitter. As you'll hear, Holt's view of the role and economics of football is starkly at odds with those in the boardrooms of clubs higher up football's pyramid and is a vital part of the bigger conversation about the future of the game from top to bottom. Cobblers haven't had many players from Scandinavia but Poul Hubertz made a big impact in a short time at the club in the late 2000's.6ft 5" forward Hubertz was a key member of Stuart Gray's side which finished a decent 9th in League 1, playing alongside such talent as Adebayo Akinfenwa, Mark Bunn, Andy Holt, Jason Crowe, Gabor Gyepes and Bradley Johnson. The Dane discusses his formative years in Denmark, playing in the Danish Superliga before moving to Millwall and becoming a popular player at the Den with whole hearted displays. Hubertz talks frankly about the pain of being released by the Lions and the joy of being a part of one of Northampton's most talented ever teams under Gray where Cobblers thrashed Swansea 4-2 and went to to toe with big clubs like Nottingham Forest.Hubertz talks us through his best goal from the club- an overhead kick V Forest at Sixfields which is still remembered by Town fans now. We'll hear that Hubertz never wanted to leave the Cobblers, the reason why he did and talk about the characteristics which make him a cult player at Northampton Town. Captain Holt has some classic stories about dealing with the big characters in the squad such as Poul Hubertz and Adebayo Akinfenwa.Winning at Anfield would be the peak of any Cobblers player's career and Holt can remember the 2010 League Cup win under Ian Sampson like it was yesterday. Listen how the the schoolboy Man Utd fan's dream comes true via a monumental team Cobblers team effort and a well placed Abdul Osman penalty.Left-sided defender Holt talks us through the different managing styles of John Gorman, Stuart Gray, Ian Sampson, Gary Johnson and Aidy Boothroyd with some interesting stories about each along the way.Holt is a proper Cobblers legend, one who never courted attention, did the business on a weekly business and loved the game. Sermon from 2nd June 2019 evening service 1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: 2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. Confirming One’s Calling and Election 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. 10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your callingand election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Prophecy of Scripture 12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, 14 because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things. 16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”[b] 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. 19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Стартуем вместе с работой Liz Cirelli с интереснейшим названием Our Weekend In Norwich. Подхватывает эстафету Anjunadeep в лице Steve Huerta и его глубочайшей пластинки Say It Wasn't. Сегодня я представлю в рамках своего радиошоу MAXIMUM его пластинку Heaven Will Be. Lexicon Avenue."Here I Am" – это их первый релиз на лейбле Forensic Records (1998 год). «Midnight on West 27th Street», Одним из псевдонимов Lexicon Avenue является Little Green Men. По отзывам участников Lexicon Avenue в настоящий момент большое влияние на их творчество оказывают Danny Tenaglia, Mood 2 Swing, Deep Dish, Chus and Ceballos, Peace Division и H-Foundation. Стартуем вместе с работой Liz Cirelli с интереснейшим названием Our Weekend In Norwich. Подхватывает эстафету Anjunadeep в лице Steve Huerta и его глубочайшей пластинки Say It Wasn't. Сегодня я представлю в рамках своего радиошоу MAXIMUM его пластинку Heaven Will Be. Lexicon Avenue."Here I Am" – это их первый релиз на лейбле Forensic Records (1998 год).
