So many music fans want to be in the time capsule, jump back and be present when the music not only started, but to be a fly on the wall and absorb the scents, the colors, the sounds, the discussions, the drugs, the sex, debochery, the arguments, heartbreaks and everything just to separate the myth from the history. Miss Barbara Bacon was the 17 year old on the scene, taking it all in and living to tell all about it.    The Stooges, Ted Nugent, Mark Farner, Mc5, Bob Seger, The Who at the Holiday Inn Flint, Alice Cooper, Pete Andrews, Craig Frost, Twiggy, SRC, Michael Bruce...just a smear of the stories she has from backstage, homesteads, and hotels, to long trips, joint-sharing, bi-sexual reality, and the front row ticket to every event. Barbara has submitted Stooges and other artwork to the Michigan Rock Legends Hall of Fame and now has decided to do the ULTIMATE name drop and recall all her unreal stories. However, don't call her a groupie, she sat shotgun, witnessed and made wise decisions not to partake in the private world, while her older sister and friends reaped fringe benefits. Barbara is a walking encyclopedia of Detroit, Pontiac, Ann Arbor and the world of rock and roll, via mid to late '60s and beyond. From Mitch Ryder to Mt. Holly--these are her stories. Part one of two, coming in HOT.....now!

You've heard of the best drummer in the world, best rock, best jazz, best percussionist, etc. Did you know Michigan is home to the best blues drummer in world? Steve McCray, youngest brother to national treasure Larry, has been hitting the skins since the '70s and continues to provide his sonic element to the Michigan scene and beyond.     Known as the First Unk Of Funk, McCray's background of P-funky, Isley Brothers, and hard blues has given him a craft that is truly his own blend. McCray also adds songwriting, production, and incredible background harmonies/arrangements that have helped propel his Brother Larry's music and other Michigan Bands over the top. Steve has no problem dishing the backstage stories or the truth and details of life on the road and in the studio. He can equally be thrilled with local emerging artists as much as he can tease about Dr. John, John Lee Hooker, and his brothers Larry and Carl. Nothing is off-limits and Steve makes everyone tune in and laugh along with him. He has truly been there and seen it all! You gotta get in on this one... TURN IT UP NOW!

I had forgotten but we also did a short "CouchStreams After Hours" segment for subscribers which was, and still is, behind a paywall. We discussed various things—my scooter ride with Antony Sammeroff in Austin and travels with Sammeroff the previous months (see KOL330 | Lift Talks #2 With Kinsella & Sammeroff and KOL329 | Lift Talks #1 With Kinsella & Sammeroff), skiing accidents while skiing with Sammeroff, my joining the Libertarian Party, the Mises Caucus, loser brigade libertarians and the Hoppe photo with Michael Malice's helicopter gift (see below), when I was offered a job at Cato, when I was Disinvited From Cato, and so on. Send us a textDue to the holiday weekend we are running a blast from the past. One of the most requested episodes! The FrameFrog system creates a seamless pathway for wiring electrified door openings, solving a decades-old problem that has plagued low voltage installers and access control specialists.• Architects Ron Hicks and construction expert Gary Johnson developed FrameFrog after 20 years of struggling with electrified opening installations• Traditional methods for electrified openings often fail due to metal connectors breaking or flex conduit being impossible to fish through• FrameFrog features integrated funnel-shaped ports that guide fish tape automatically through the frame• The system creates a complete loop connecting all components (door position switches, electric strikes, EPTs, etc.)• Pre-installation in hollow metal frames eliminates the "division problem" between trades that leads to field conflicts• Live demonstration showed how easily wire can be fished through the entire frame system in seconds• Buildings last 50-75 years, making infrastructure for future security needs essential even if not immediately implemented• System works with all types of access control including POE and traditional low voltageTo learn more about the FrameFrog system or to find a distributor, visit www.framefrog.us or contact Ron directly at ron@framefrog.us.Support the showKnowledge is power! Welcome back Buddies! For this latest 'sode on Vinyl Community Podcasts, we have a guest and a conversation so rare, so valuable, so unique, that we had to enlist another host to reign in this collecting madness! Joined in the co-pilot seat by Spinz Vinyl (Jason), we speak with Wayne Johnson: co-owner and co-founder of Rockaway Records in Silver Lake, CA. Founded alongside brother Gary Johnson in 1979, Rockaway has seen the peaks, valleys, and rebirth of music on vinyl, while also growing, shrinking, and pivoting their business in various forms along the way. What once was the largest store in the Los Angeles area, Rockaway has diversified their focus to not only include the rarest of vinyl recordings, but also pieces of memorabilia that can only be dreamed about.  We are talking much more than a Beatles' "Butcher" covers here: think BIGGER...think RARER....think UNBELIEVABLE pieces, unreal stories, and customers that would make the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame Museum blush: Jimmy Page, Steven Tyler, Robert Plant, Chris Robinson, and other music loyalty. Even Lucinda Williams once worked at this legendary store! We are talking items that the public rarely gets to see, with access and the ability to provide a revolving inventory that not few stores can compete with.  Also in the conversation Wayne shares some great advice for those considering seriously purchasing unique vinyl or memorabilia, gives his thoughts on the emerging "slabbing" of vinyl, and offers his opinions on auction house buys and sourcing today versus 10, 15, 30, and even 45 years ago at the beginning of his journey. It's a fun walk down memory lane, and one you will find here RIGHT NOW on Vinyl Community Podcasts! Walk with us!

Gary Taylor is not the average 'roll out the barrel' or 'oberek' artist. Performing state wide with some regional trips since the 1960s, Taylor found himself in great company while at Handy High School in the early '60s. Able to play saxophones and clarinet, Taylor was a first call artist, getting gigs and rubbing elbows with many of the Michigan polka legends.     Taylor ran his own band coming out of the Pat Lepeak and The Starliners as the '70s progressed, headlining polka festivals and achieving freedom as a multi-talented bandleader. Always in search of 'better mixes' and perfect 'lathe cut vinyl' for his projects, Taylor was able to release one collectible 45 as a headliner as Gary Taylor & The Happy Knights. His stories start at the Art Schiell home recording studio (which ? & The Mysterians put on the map). From there, he ventured to Detroit and around studio to studio, cutting parts and searching for his sound. Having hung up his woodwinds in the '90s, Taylor is an audiophile, listening to all types of music, and reveling in the perfect polka sounds. This is his story...

John Woolard's father Dwayne is one Michigan's first fore-fathers of country music, having been a pianist for all the Nashville and Mid-West names and albums. John himself started out with high school bands leading him to a short stint in Til Tuesday while in Florida. That road led to Nashville, both studio and touring. Coming back to Michigan and joining the armed forces along the way, Woolard took the family story to the next level in various country bands and stints from here around the globe. Upon giving his life to Christ, Woolard's stage expanded, as did his repertoire. Woolard got signed to a label and took his sounds across the Christian tour trail.    Woolard recently moved since this podcast, however he remains a man of music, as well as a Pastor in Michigan. This story is one of the deepest wells we have dove into. Tune in today!

Straddling the comforts of positivity post-Savage Grace (which formed out of The Scarlet Letter), Jacquez looks back in fondness and care at the legend that Warner Brothers once held high on its record label. Jacquez maintained the rougher elements of the final years of the band and the reunion album that was released nearly 20 years ago helped cement credibility, friendships, and the magic that the group once had. They released Savage Grace I, II and in 2006 a reunion album (III) called One Night In America.    Still at the top of the vocal game, Jacquez performed as a member of the Dick Wagner Band during Wagner's final touring years and has continued to sing the songs he was known for from the late '60s and early '70s, amongst many others. Always surrounded with great guitar partners, Jacquez still touts Savage Grace partner Ron Koss as a favorite, as well as Silver Bullet Band's Drew Abbott, whom he plays with on occasion. The sounds you heard, you favored, you loved, smash or trashed, Mel was the delivery man and the polisher for the companies that needed their palms greased in order to get the next big song on the radio.    You've heard it all about payola, the rags to riches, the gravity of the unknown coming to light. Mel was the lynchpin in all of it for Michigan and mid-west early rock and roll. He knew Barry Gordy, he knew the big DJs, he knew the clubs and he drove the bands.    Here in Part 2, Mel digs into payola, blues, the English music invasion, insurance sales, and his money saving toilet ideas that he has invested in. Kennedy Jr.  He and Emerson were able to spend an hour with the then-Presidential candidate in Denver, and we spent time talking about Aaron's journey going from frustration with the candidate Trump to optimism over the team of leaders who have joined his campaign.  For your Host, I was a first-time Trump voter this year, after voting Gary Johnson and Kanye West the past two elections.  I voted for a major party for President for the first time with this vote, and did so both to acknowledge the coalition of leaders, and also to punish Democrats for obvious lawfare, suppression of free speech, and a very non-democratic primary selection process, including the black-balling of Kennedy, and the installation of Harris.  Enjoy the perspectives, and thanks for listening! The LoCo Experience Podcast is sponsored by: Logistics Co-op | https://logisticscoop.com/
