You've pushed yourself through a rough work week and are surprised with the unexpected, a Beach Day. Of course, with a beach day comes Beach Games, and the caveat to this trip is that those beach games could land you a new job! Sound awful? We agree, but luckily you won't have to live through something like that, because the members of one of the greatest shows on earth did it for you already. The Office, Season 3, Episode 23 finds our characters subjected to yet another scheme by the world's best boss (self proclaimed), Michael Scott, and now they must fight for their lives (figuratively) in the new Regional Manager sweepstakes. Who finds themselves paired together during the egg on a spoon contest? Who shoves the most hot dogs down their gullet? A sumo suit anyone? If that sounded insane, it's because it is! Would you tolerate or enjoy a beach day with your work colleagues? Would you walk across a pit of hot coals to prove a point before confessing your love in front of everyone? And for god sakes, look at what we're doing, and go tell someone it! Let us know on Twitter @APASomething and @alone_podcast. The Office turns into Survivor: Lake Scranton. The prize? The position of Regional Manager of the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin. The employees must battle each other in an egg on a spoon race, a hot dog eating contest, and sumo wrestling. Who comes away the winner? Well, no one, but we still talk about it anyways in this week's episode.
Our good pal Lauren Showen returns to the show to talk about, you guessed it, The Office! We also discuss camping, Ken shaving his head, and those oh so helpful inspirational quotes on Dove chocolates. It'll be a big week coming up in New Jersey as Flipswrestling will host the Beach Games on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean from Sept. 22-24. The event is aimed to educate and inform senior-level wrestlers about things they need to capitalize on the world of being a professional athlete. On Episode 205 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, FlipsWrestling big gun Don Beshada and Compound's Cliff Fretwell talk about their new merger and the idea behind the Beach Games and just exactly what this event is going to bring to the community. While it's small and more or less a team-building style of "retreat" with seminar sessions and games, the idea is to create something that's fun and educational without the seriousness of a board room, but all the knowledge from within one.
