O prefeito de Pedras Grandes, Agnaldo Filippi, oficializou na última semana sua filiação ao Partido Liberal, deixando o Progressistas. Com a mudança, ele também assume a presidência municipal da sigla. Em entrevista ao programa Cruz de Malta Notícias desta segunda-feira (23), Filippi afirmou que o principal objetivo neste novo momento político é fortalecer o partido no município e estruturar a base para as próximas eleições. Entre as prioridades, está o apoio à reeleição do governador Jorginho Mello. O prefeito justificou a troca partidária apontando insatisfação com decisões do PP em âmbito nacional, especialmente a aproximação com o governo do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva e a formação da federação União Progressistas. Apesar da mudança de sigla, Filippi fez questão de reforçar que mantém apoio à reeleição do senador Esperidião Amin (PP). Segundo ele, a atuação do parlamentar no Senado é determinante para o desenvolvimento do estado. “O Brasil tem hoje um grande senador, que é o Esperidião Amin. Isso não pode ser negado. Você analisa os números, a atuação do senador, é uma grande representação de Santa Catarina. What is a Network State and how does the concept matter in relation to the Trump administration's attempts to take Greenland - and their 'peace' proposals in Gaza and Ukraine?  This is the question I asked the transnational legal expert Dr Andrea Leiter: Who is trying to set up legal structure that mandate for No Death, No Taxes and No Democracy? And why might the rest of us end up dead or enslaved (I'll leave you to work out which you think is worse) - because as with any fascist enterprise, there will be the in-group that is protected but not constrained and the out-group that is constrained but not protected and if you're listening to this podcast, the chances of your being in the in-group are vanishingly small. So we ended up discussing Balaji Srinivasan's concepts of the Network State - and no, I have not linked to the book or the website in the show notes: if you want them, you can search.  I have, however, linkedto the ideas of the Co-ordiNations put forward by Primavera de Filippi and, of course, there's the ongoing Bioregional work being conducted by Joe Brewer and others: the merging of these two feels to me a good way forward if we're to get rid of the current Hobbesian concepts of a Nation State - which is, for sure, pretty outdated. For those who want background, Andrea works at the intersection of law, digital transformation, and economic innovation. Director of Amsterdam Center for International Law, she's deeply aware of, and involved in, Transnational Law, Digital Economies & Institutional Innovation, all things crypto – as well as being a Social Justice Entrepreneur. Tesalonika lub Saloniki jest jest to miasto zwane dzisiaj było ważnym miastem w starożytności. Apostoł Paweł napisał pierwszy list właśnie do tego zboru już około 50 roku n.e. Dla nas jest to starożytne miasto, ale w czasach pierwszych chrześcijan było ono stosunkowo młode miało tylko jakieś 300 lat. Przetrwało jednak do naszych czasów. Dziś to drugie największe miasto w Grecji zaraz po Atenach. Ciekawe, że nazwy obu tych miast w języku polskim są w liczbie mnogiej. My mówimy Ateny i Saloniki.Wcześniej w tym miejscu istniało miasto Therma, o którym wiemy dziś bardzo niewiele. Była to niewielka osada nad Zatoką Termajską - znamy jej nazwę i przybliżone położenie, ale niewiele więcej. Skąd więc wzięła się nazwa Tesalonika? Jej historia prowadzi nas do Filipa II, ojca Aleksandra Wielkiego. Filip podporządkował sobie Tesalię, a w tym czasie związał się z Nikesipolis - kobietą pochodzącą z tesalskiego rodu arystokratycznego. Gdy urodziła mu córkę, zbiegło się to z jego zwycięstwem w Tesalii. Filip nadał więc dziewczynce imię Tesalonike, czyli dosłownie „zwycięstwo w Tesalii”. Jak zapewne wiecie, greckie słowo nike oznacza właśnie zwycięstwo.Filip II zginął w zamachu w 336 roku p.n.e. Tesalonike była wówczas jeszcze zbyt młoda, by myśleć o małżeństwie, dlatego jej ojciec nie zdążył niczego dla niej zaplanować. Opiekę nad dziewczyną przejęła Olimpias, matka Aleksandra Wielkiego. Gdy jednak Aleksander zmarł w 323 roku p.n.e., Tesalonike miała około dwudziestu jeden lat. Olimpias zabiegała wówczas o polityczne małżeństwo dla swojej córki Kleopatry Macedońskiej, ale nie dla Tesalonike. Wkrótce władzę w Macedonii przejął jednak Kasander. Skazał Olimpias na śmierć, a następnie poślubił Tesalonike. To właśnie on założył nowe miasto i nadał mu imię swojej żony - Tesalonika.Tu warto wspomnieć, że Filip II i jego syn Aleksander myśleli o podbojach i nie za bardzo interesowali się swoją macedońską ojczyzną. Aleksander planował nawet przenieść swoją stolicę do Babilonu i budował nowe miasta, np. Aleksandrię w Egipcie. Dopiero jego śmierć i przejęcie władzy przez Kasandra spowodowało, że w Macedonii zaczęto rozbudowywać miasta czy budować nowe. Właśnie wtedy powstały Tesaloniki. Można więc pewnie różnie oceniać Kasandra, ale dla Macedończyków był on chyba lepszym królem niż Aleksander Wielki, który traktował Macedonię, swoją ojczyznę jak prowincję.Upadek dynastii Aleksandra Wielkiego ciekawie koresponduje z proroctwem z Księgi Daniela. W księdze Daniela 8:21 przyrównano Grecję do kozła z jednym rogiem. Kolejny werset 22 opisuje co miało się wydarzyć później, czytamy tam: “A to, że został złamany, a cztery inne wyrosły zamiast niego, znaczy: Z jego narodu powstaną cztery królestwa, ale nie z taką mocą, jaką on miał”. Po śmierci Aleksandra jego imperium rzeczywiście nie przeszło na jednego następcę. Zostało podzielone między czterech wodzów. Jednym z nich był Kasander, władca Macedonii, który poślubił Tesalonikę i założył miasto noszące jej imię. Trzej pozostali to Ptolemeusz, który objął Egipt, Seleukos, który przejął rozległe obszary Azji, między innymi Syrię, oraz Lizymach, władca Tracji i Azji Mniejszej.Królestwo, które założył Kasander upadło jako drugie. W 168 roku p.n.e. Macedonię podbili Rzymianie. Gdy przybył tam Paweł Tesaloniki były stolicą rzymskiej prowincji Macedonia. Stacjonował tam garnizon rzymski. W Dziejach 17:6 czytamy o rozruchach: “Gdy zaś ich nie znaleźli, zawlekli Jazona i niektórych braci przed przełożonych miasta, krzycząc: Ci, co uczynili zamęt w całym świecie, przybyli i tutaj”. W greckim oryginale użyto słowa “politarchów”, co na polski tłumaczy się na przełożonych miasta czy urzędników miejskich. Co ciekawe w Tesalonikach znaleziono starożytną inskrypcję używającą tego określenia dla miejscowych urzędników.Paweł przybył do Tesalonik z Filippi. W Dziejach 17:1 czytamy: “gdy przeszli Amfipolis i Apolonię, przybyli do Tesaloniki, gdzie była synagoga żydowska”. W Filippi nie było synagogi i dlatego tam Paweł głosił za murami miasta nad rzeką. Więcej o tym w odcinku 77 o tamtym mieście. Jednak tutaj w Tesalonikach była synagoga, a więc apostoł wszedł tam zgodnie ze swoim zwyczajem i jak czytamy w wersecie 2 “przez trzy sabaty rozprawiał z nimi na podstawie Pism”. Wiele osób zostało przekonanych co wzburzyło innych. W Dziejach 17:5 czytamy: “Ale Żydzi, powodowani zazdrością, dobrawszy sobie z pospólstwa różnych niegodziwych ludzi, wywołali zbiegowisko i wzburzyli miasto, a naszedłszy dom Jazona, usiłowali stawić ich przed ludem”.Paweł uciekł do kolejnego miasta Berei. Tam też wszedł do synagogi. W wersecie 11 czytamy, że tamtejsi Żydzi byli lepiej usposobieni niż ci w Tesalonice. Jednak ci ostatni nie poddali się. W Dziejach Apostolskich 17:13 czytamy: “A gdy się dowiedzieli Żydzi z Tesaloniki, że i w Berei Paweł głosi Słowo Boże, udali się tam, judząc i podburzając pospólstwo”. Chrześcijanie wyprawili więc Pawła do Aten i Koryntu. W tym ostatnim mieście spędził on dużo czasu i stamtąd napisał dwa pierwsze listy właśnie do Tesaloniczan. Prawdopodobnie pierwszy list w 50 roku, a drugi w 51. W 1 Tesalonicza 2:14 czytamy: “Albowiem wy, bracia, staliście się naśladowcami zborów Bożych, które są w Judei w Chrystusie Jezusie, bo i wy doznaliście tych samych cierpień od swoich rodaków, jak i oni od Żydów”. Tak jak chrześcijanie w Judei byli prześladowani przez swoich rodaków tak samo Tesaloniczanie.Ale prześladowania nie były jedynym problemem. Paweł napisał drugi list niedługo po pierwszym. W 2 Tesaloniczan 2:2 czytamy: “Abyście nie tak szybko dali się zbałamucić i nastraszyć, czy to przez jakieś wyrocznie, czy przez mowę, czy przez list, rzekomo przez nas pisany, jakoby już nastał dzień Pański”. Wygląda na to, że ktoś chciał wprowadzić ich w błąd. Paweł wspomina tutaj o wyroczniach, a nawet o jakimś liście, który rzekomo był przez niego pisany. Później Paweł zapewne odwiedził Tesaloniki gdy przechodził przez Macedonię. Wspomina o tym np. w 1 Tymoteusza 1:3 gdzie czytamy: “Gdy wybierałem się do Macedonii, prosiłem cię, żebyś pozostał w Efezie”. Niektórzy chrześcijanie z Tesalonik towarzyszyli mu później. Dzieje 20:4 wymieniają niektórych, czytamy tam: “A towarzyszył mu aż do Azji Sopater, syn Pyrrusa z Berei, a z Tesaloniczan Arystarch i Sekundus”. A Dzieje 27:2 mówią “wyruszyliśmy w drogę w towarzystwie Arystarcha, Macedończyka z Tesaloniki”.Na początku IV wieku, za panowania cesarza Dioklecjana (okres tzw. Wielkich Prześladowań rozpoczętych w 303 roku n.e.), doszło do dramatycznych wydarzeń z udziałem Dymitra z Tesaloniki. Tradycja mówi, że cesarz wyznaczył go na prokonsula, nie wiedząc o jego wierze. Dymitr, zamiast egzekwować antychrześcijańskie edykty, szerzył ewangelia, za co został uwięziony i ostatecznie stracony w 306 roku n.e. Jego kult rozwinął się błyskawicznie, a już w V wieku (ok. 413 roku) na miejscu jego męczeństwa wzniesiono pierwszą bazylikę. Dzisiejsza Bazylika Świętego Dymitra, odbudowana po wielkim pożarze miasta z 1917 roku, jest najważniejszą świątynią Salonik.Kolejny złoty wiek miasto przeżyło w IX wieku, gdy w Tesalonikach urodzili się bracia Cyryl (827 r.) i Metody (815 r.). To ich w 863 roku cesarz bizantyjski Michał III wysłał z misją do Słowian, co na zawsze zmieniło mapę religijną Europy. Miasto pozostawało w rękach bizantyjskich aż do 1430 roku, kiedy to po długim oblężeniu podbili je Turcy osmańscy pod wodzą sułtana Murada II. Filip nadał miastu swoje imię, czyniąc z Filippi strategiczny punkt imperium.W II wieku p.n.e. do Macedonii wkroczyli Rzymianie. Przekształcili dawny szlak w jedną z najważniejszych dróg imperium - Via Egnatia, łączącą Adriatyk z Azją Mniejszą. Kulminacją znaczenia Filippi były wydarzenia z 42 roku p.n.e., gdy doszło tu do dwóch bitew. Filippi pierwotnie zamieszkiwali Grecy, a właściwie Macedończycy. Jednak po bitwach pod Filippi w 42 roku p.n.e. osiedlono tu weteranów legionów, zwłaszcza żołnierzy walczących po stronie zwycięzców. Filippi otrzymało status kolonii rzymskiej, a jego życie publiczne zaczęło funkcjonować według prawa rzymskiego.W Dziejach Apostolskich 16:12 napisano: “Stamtąd zaś do Filippi, które jest przodującym miastem okręgu macedońskiego i kolonią rzymską. Paweł zwykle szedł do synagogi. Tutaj jej nie było. Biblia wspomina tylko o kobietach zgromadzonych nad rzeką Gangites. Być może brakowało minimum 10 Żydów mężczyzn aby postawić synagogę. Takie kworum nazywa się w judaiźmie minjan. Jest to minimum niezbędne do odprawiania publicznych modłów i założenia synagogi.Później Pawła i Sylasa postawiono przed urzędnikami. W Dziejach 16:20 czytamy: “I stawiwszy ich przed pretorów, rzekli: Ci oto ludzie, którzy są Żydami, zakłócają spokój w naszym mieście”. W greckim tekście użyto słowa strategoi, którym Łukasz oddaje rzymskich duoviri - dwóch najwyższych urzędników kolonii. Sprawowali oni władzę administracyjną i sądowniczą, a Filippi, jako kolonia rzymska, było zarządzane według wzorców wojskowych i prawa rzymskiego. To właśnie przed nimi Paweł stanął, co dobrze oddaje napięcie między rzymskim porządkiem miasta a nowiną, którą głosił.Kolejny fragment wyjawia szczegóły na temat życia w Filippi. W Dziejach Apostolskich 16:21 czytamy: “I głoszą obyczaje, których nie wolno nam, jako Rzymianom, przyjmować ani zachowywać”. Ci, którzy oskarżali Pawła przypomnieli, że Rzymianom (obywatele Filippi mieli obywatelstwo rzymskie) nie wolno przestrzegać takich obyczajów. Być może właśnie o tym myślał później gdy w Liście do Filipian 1:7 pisał: “gdy jestem w więzieniu, jak i w czasie obrony i umacniania ewangelii”. W oryginale greckim użyto słowa apologia czyli obrona. Był to termin prawny. Ten precedens sprawił pewnie, że władze podchodziły z większą ostrożnością do wspólnoty chrześcijan, która tam powstała.Chrześcijanie z Filippi byli znani z gościnności. W Dziejach 16:15 czytamy o Lidii: “A gdy została ochrzczona, także i dom jej, prosiła, mówiąc: Skoroście mnie uznali za wierną Panu, wstąpcie do domu mego i zamieszkajcie. I wymogła to na nas”. Warto tutaj wtrącić, że według tradycji Lidia została ochrzczona właśnie w rzece Gangites. Biblia tego nie podaje, skupia się na jej gościnności. Greckie słowo tłumaczone na gościnność to filoksenia czyli dosłownie miłość do obcych. Lidia przyjęła pod swój dach Pawła i jego towarzyszy, w tym także Łukasza, który napisał, że wręcz zmusiła ich do zamieszkania u niej. Tak samo potraktował ich strażnik więzienny jak czytamy: “wprowadził ich do swego domu, zastawił stół i weselił się” (Dzieje Apostolskie 16:34). Czy ich nastawienie się zmieniło gdy Paweł odszedł do Tesaloniki?W Liście do Filipian 4:16 czytamy: “Bo już do Tesaloniki i raz, i drugi przysłaliście dla mnie zapomogę”. W kolejnym wersecie 18 pisze: “Poświadczam zaś, że odebrałem wszystko, nawet więcej niż mi potrzeba; mam wszystkiego pod dostatkiem, otrzymawszy od Epafrodyta wasz dar”. Apostoł pisał ten list z więzienia w Rzymie. Także tam Filipianie posłali jednego spośród siebie. Epafrodyt przyniósł dar i miał usługiwać Pawłowi. Niestety zachorował i to apostoł opiekował się nim. Ale miał dobre chęci. Paweł odesłał go do Filippi pisząc: “Przyjmijcie go więc w Panu z wielką radością i miejcie takich ludzi w poszanowaniu” (Filipian 2:29). Narażał się i choć zachorował apostoł cenił jego postawę.Ta wspólnota nie była jednak idealna, także tam pojawiały się problemy. W Filipian 4:2 czytamy: “Upominam Ewodię i upominam Syntychę, aby były jednomyślne w Panu”. W kolejnym wersecie 3 przypomina, że walczyły one dla ewangelii. Warto zwrócić uwagę, że Paweł nie docieka kto miał rację w tym sporze, ale przypomina, że konflikt taki mógłby osłabić wspólnotę chrześcijan. Nie piętnuje żadnej ze stron, wręcz przeciwnie przypomniał co robiły dobrego. Przypomina im aby były “jednomyślne w Panu”. Nie znamy szczegółów, ale musiał to był wielki spór, że aż Paweł z Rzymu postanowił się tym zająć. Być może spór doprowadził do podziału na grupę Ewodii i grupę Syntychy.Paweł chyba też się obawiał, że niektórzy chrześcijanie mogą dalej być dumni ze swojego rzymskiego obywatelstwa. Filippi było kolonią rzymską, takim małym Rzymem w Macedonii. W Liście do Filipian 1:27 napisał: “Niech życie wasze będzie godne ewangelii Chrystusowej”. W 2 Koryntian 8:2 czytamy: “Iż mimo licznych utrapień, które wystawiały ich na próbę, niezwykła radość i skrajne ubóstwo ich przerodziły się w nadzwyczajne bogactwo ich ofiarności”. Filipianie udowodnili, że prawdziwe obywatelstwo, o którym pisał Paweł, zaczyna się od prostych gestów gościnności i pamięci o drugim człowieku.Stamtąd zaś do Filippi, które jest przodującym miastem okręgu macedońskiego i kolonią rzymską. A Winemaking Journey That Began at 18 Karavidas's entry into the wine world started by chance. After his family moved from Glendale to the historic Cucamonga Valley, he found himself surrounded by a vibrant —though now largely forgotten—grape-growing region. At just 18 years old, he took a position as a union cellar man at an old Gallo facility owned by Brookside, a major direct-to-consumer winery producing 600,000 cases a year across 38 tasting rooms. The work hooked him instantly. He loved: The intellectual side of winemaking The hands-on craft The lifestyle—surfing in the mornings, working swing shift, and still being a teenager His career ascended quickly: Senior lab technician Associate winemaker Full winemaking responsibility by age 21 He later joined the fourth-generation Filippi family winery, producing 3,000–4,000 tons per year. For 16 years, he managed everything “from the still to the bottle,” often running the distillery late at night before receiving fruit at sunrise. Forty Years of Change: From Jug Wine to Napa Prestige When asked how the industry has changed since those early days, Karavidas didn't hesitate: “Dramatically.” The 1970s–1980s: U.S. shelves were dominated by semi-generic wines like Chablis and Burgundy Four-liter jugs were standard Zinfandel was largely a blending grape Cabernet Sauvignon was not yet king The 1990s–2000s Shift: Varietal wines became mainstream Bottles got smaller and more premium Napa Valley transformed the American palate This evolution reshaped California wine into the global powerhouse it is today. Today's Wine Slump: “Unlike Any Cycle We've Seen Before” Following a commercial break, the Ag Meter steered the conversation toward the most pressing topic: the current wine downturn, especially pronounced in regions like Lodi, where Karavidas resides. He explained that while the industry has always cycled between under-supply and over-supply, the current slump is fundamentally different. How We Got Here From 1990 to 2000: U.S. wine consumption surged Vineyard plantings increased rapidly But all those vines reached full production at the same time. By 2005, California hit a 3-million-ton harvest, outpacing domestic demand. Back then, wine imports represented just 10–18% of the U.S. retail market. Today: A New Reality Imports now exceed 40% U.S. consumption is flat Production costs are rising Exporting wine is harder and less profitable International sales face steep: Duties VATs Fees Regulatory costs Shipping Hidden logistical expenses Some countries—India among the most extreme—can add up to 300% of the wine's value in export-related costs, making competition nearly impossible. Vineyard Removals: A Potential Over-Correction The most visible impact of today's imbalance is on the land itself. Karavidas estimates: Lodi has removed up to 30% of its vineyards in just 24 months Removals continue weekly Thousands of acres are gone, with risk of pulling out too much too quickly Making matters worse: European producers stockpiled massive volumes of wine in the U.S. just before tariffs hit. This “pre-load” flooded the market and pushed the 2025 California crop “into the weeds,” creating a backlog that could take years to unwind. Global Wine Vision 2035: A Call for Worldwide Alignment Karavidas also discussed his major initiative, Global Wine Vision 2035—a project he launched over a year ago after publishing digital essays that caught international attention. Its aim: Establish a more balanced, cooperative, and sustainable global wine economy. His framework focuses on: Regulatory consistency Fair trade policies Countering anti-alcohol and neo-prohibitionist movements Industry sustainability Representation for small & mid-sized producers Interest in the initiative is growing among academics in Canada, UK regulators, EU stakeholders, and others worldwide. A Global Wine Advisory Board is now in development, representing the 99% of producers who are not multinational giants. Karavidas shares ongoing insights via his Purple Happy Wine Inside Out Newsletter on LinkedIn. Why Younger Consumers Drink Less Wine The conversation turned to a key demographic shift. According to Karavidas, younger adults face multiple barriers: Health consciousness Rising interest in organic lifestyles Competition from cannabis & ready-to-drink beverages Too many choices and little guidance High prices Intimidating wine environments “You walk into a store with hundreds of bottles,” he said. “Where do you even start?” The Future Is Accessible: Cans, Single Serves & Less Intimidation Karavidas believes the current oversupply will help break down barriers and usher in a more modern, approachable wine culture.
