Filippenzen (5 minuten) Paulus' brief aan de Filippenzen is voor veel christenen één van de favoriete Bijbelboeken. Het is een prachtige, praktische brief vol bemoedigingen en aansporingen. Paulus hield van alle christenen, maar de Filippenzen lijken een speciaal plekje te hebben in zijn hart. Zij waren de enige kerkelijke gemeente die hem blijvend ondersteunden en ook gaven ze altijd geld aan de christenen in Jeruzalem. Het ontstaan van de kerk in de Griekse stad Filippi wordt beschreven in Handelingen. Er was geen synagoge, omdat er te weinig Joodse mannen waren in Filippi. (Het minimumaantal voor een eredienst was tien.) Wel kwam een trouw groepje bij elkaar voor gebed bij de rivier. De rijke zakenvrouw Lydia organiseerde dat. Paulus zocht hen op, vertelde hen over Jezus en ze kwamen tot geloof. Daarna kwam een lokale vrouw met een waarzeggende geest tot geloof. Ze viel Paulus herhaaldelijk lastig en hij joeg de demon uit haar. Ze bekeerde zich tot Jezus, tot woede van de mannen voor wie de vrouw werkte. Zij waren een bron van inkomsten kwijt en lieten Paulus en Silas opsluiten. ‘s Nachts zongen de twee christenen in de cel. Plotseling kwam er een aardbeving en de deuren gingen open. De gevangenen konden vluchten. Paulus en Silas deden dat niet, omdat de bewaker anders zou worden gedood. Ook de bewaker kwam tot geloof. Lydia's groepje, een slavin bezeten door een geest en een wrede soldaat waren de eerste leden van de kerk in Filippi. Huisarrest in Rome Nadat Paulus deze gemeente in Griekenland had opgezet - de eerste in Europa - trok hij verder, maar hij kwam nog verschillende malen terug. Hij schreef zijn brief aan de christenen in Filippi tussen 60 en 62, terwijl hij in huisarrest zat in Rome. Hij gaf de brief mee aan een man die Epafroditus heet. Deze man was door de Filippenzen gestuurd om Paulus bij te staan tijdens zijn gevangenschap. Hij was echter flink ziek geworden en zelfs bijna gestorven. Daarom stuurde Paulus hem met een aanbeveling terug naar Filippi. Paulus begint zijn brief met een gebed waarin hij zijn dankbaarheid uit voor de trouw van de gelovigen in Filippenzen en alles wat ze voor hem hebben gedaan. Hij ziet dat God in hen een werk is begonnen en dat hij dit werk ook zal voltooien. In veel kerken wordt dit Bijbelvers gebruikt als opening van de kerkdienst. Leven is Christus, sterven winst Paulus weet dat de Filippenzen zich ongetwijfeld zorgen om hem maken, omdat hij gevangen zit. Hij wil deze zorgen bij hen wegnemen door erop te wijzen dat het evangelie nog steeds wordt verspreid, zelfs in Rome. Paulus gevangenschap draagt hij hier zelfs aan bij. Bovendien zegt hij: ‘voor mij is leven Christus en sterven winst'. Hij bedoelt daarmee dat we hier op aarde Jezus dienen en dat is goed. Voor Jezus aan het werk zijn is mooi, maar kan ook zwaar zijn. Daarom is sterven winst, want dan ben je altijd bij Jezus. Toch is Paulus ervan overtuigd dat zijn werk nog niet klaar is. Daarom verwacht hij dat hij aan het eind van zijn gevangenschap niet zal worden geëxecuteerd, maar dat hij wordt vrij gelaten. (Dat kwam later ook uit. Pas na Paulus' volgende gevangenschap enkele jaren later, werd hij onthoofd.) De Filippenzen moeten een zelfde houding hebben, want het is de houding van Christus. Hier in hoofdstuk 2 vinden we het hart van Paulus' boodschap. Hij zegt: ‘Laat onder u de gezindheid heersen die Christus Jezus had. Hij die de gestalte van God had, hield zijn gelijkheid aan God niet vast, maar deed er afstand van. Hij nam de gestalte aan van een slaaf en werd gelijk aan een mens. En als mens verschenen, heeft hij zich vernederd en werd gehoorzaam tot in de dood – de dood aan het kruis. Daarom heeft God hem hoog verheven en hem de naam geschonken die elke naam te boven gaat, opdat in de naam van Jezus elke knie zich zal buigen, in de hemel, op de aarde en onder de aarde, en elke tong zal belijden: “Jezus Christus is Heer,” tot eer van God, de Vader.' - Filippenzen 2:5-11 Jezus was God, maar deed afstand van al het goddelijke, en werd een mens. En als mens liet hij zich vernederen en doden. De beloning is dat Hij de heerschappij over de aarde zal krijgen en op een dag zal elke tong belijden: ‘Jezus Christus is Heer.' Ik hoop dat dit stuk je weer doet denken aan Adam en Eva (die van de boom van goed en kwaad aten) en ook aan de inwoners van Babel (die een toren wilden bouwen om tot in de hemel te komen). De lijdende Slaaf Waarom deden ze dat? Om gelijk te worden aan God. Dat kon God niet toestaan. Maar uit liefde voor ons én tot eer van God, werd God in de persoon van Jezus een mens! En Hij diende ons als een lijdende slaaf, precies zoals dat was voorspeld in het boek Jesaja. Het doel van de brief aan de Filippenzen is zoals gezegd om hen te bedanken, hen te vertellen hoe het gaat met Paulus, maar ook dat zij leren wat het betekent om Christus te volgen. Jezus zelf heeft dat voorbeeld gegeven. Paulus doet wat Jezus doet, maar hij ziet ook het werk dat God in zijn assistenten Timoteüs en Epafroditus heeft gedaan. Ook zij lijken op Jezus. Het is een aansporing voor de Filippenzen om ook steeds meer op Christus te gaan lijken. Maar hoe dat je dat? Het vereist een verandering van denken en doen. Om te beginnen, moeten we alles in deze wereld zien als afval. Je diploma's, je carrière, je bezittingen, je familie; in vergelijking met Jezus stelt het allemaal niets voor. Hij gaf alles op. Wij moeten bereid zijn dat ook te doen. Dit zijn harde woorden, maar wat Paulus bedoelt is dat we ons geluk niet moeten zoeken in aardse dingen. We moeten hiervan loskomen en een liefde laten zien die niet van deze wereld is. Een liefde die opoffert. Burgerrecht in de hemel Onze hoop ligt in wat God te bieden heeft, niet wat de wereld te bieden heeft. Letterlijk zegt Paulus, ‘Wij hebben ons burgerrecht in de hemel'. De inwoners van Filippi waren een trots volk. Ze waren bijna net zo belangrijk als de inwoners van Rome. Maar dat telt niet, zegt Paulus. Het gaat er niet om of je een burger van Rome bent, maar of je een inwoner van de hemel bent. En als je een hemels paspoort hebt, leef je dan ook volgens de waarden en normen van dat koninkrijk? Paulus hoopt van wel. Want op een dag zal Jezus uit de hemel terugkeren naar de aarde om Zijn koninkrijk definitief te vestigen. Tot slot roept Paulus twee vrouwen op die een conflict hebben om het weer goed te maken met elkaar. Ook zegt hij de Filippenzen dat ze niet bang moeten zijn voor vervolging. In plaats daarvan moeten ze hun zorgen bij God brengen én Hem onder alle omstandigheden danken. Niet voor alle omstandigheden, maar onder alle omstandigheden. Dus wat er ook gebeurt, er is altijd een reden om God te danken voor wat Hij voor ons heeft gedaan en Hem te vragen ons te helpen. God geeft dan vrede. Paulus eindigt zijn brief door nogmaals zijn dank uit te spreken en de groeten over te brengen.

Na última semana, os prefeitos da Associação de Municípios da Região de Laguna (AMUREL) estiveram reunidos com o governador Jorginho Mello durante a segunda edição do programa Santa Catarina Levado a Sério – Prestando Contas. O evento aconteceu em Tubarão e reuniu lideranças municipais, vereadores, deputados e representantes do Governo do Estado, que acompanharam a apresentação detalhada dos investimentos, obras e projetos estaduais em andamento nas cidades que compõem a associação. O governador destacou as principais entregas e anunciou novos recursos para os municípios. Já no período da tarde, Jorginho Mello e seus secretários participaram de reuniões individuais com cada prefeito, ouvindo demandas locais e oficializando a liberação de novos investimentos. No entanto, uma ausência foi notada durante o evento: o prefeito de Pedras Grandes, Agnaldo Filippi, não compareceu ao encontro. A ausência chamou atenção diante do histórico de divergências entre Filippi e o governador desde o início do mandato de Jorginho Mello, especialmente em relação à não liberação da verba restante para a pavimentação da Rodovia da Imigração, uma das principais obras em andamento no município. Viene così configurato un tipo d'uomo del tutto originale, che si comporta in maniera che spesso agli occhi del mondo apparirà incomprensibile.Il cristiano, secondo questa descrizione, è uno che non risponde al male col male, non reagisce alla violenza con la violenza, non coltiva lo spirito di vendetta ma cerca di esercitare sempre, con chi l'ha trattato ingiustamente, la legge del perdono.San Paolo enuncia lo stesso concetto quando esorta: Non lascarti vincere dal male, ma vinci il male col bene (Rm 12,21).Per imprimerci bene questo insegnamento difficile, il nostro Maestro si esprime paradossalmente, cioè con frasi che, più che essere prese alla lettera, vanno capite nel loro significato sostanziale.Dice ad esempio: A chi ti percuote sulla guancia, porgi anche l'altra (Lc 6,29). È un'espressione famosa, sulla quale si è fatto qualche volta dell'ironia. Qualche altra volta è stata invece travisata, facendone contro ogni buon senso un principio di comportamento per le stesse pubbliche autorità, a tutto vantaggio dei prepotenti agguerriti e a tutto svantaggio degli onesti indifesi.È molto istruttivo rileggere il commento che su di essa fa san Tommaso d'Aquino, uno dei più grandi teologi della storia: «Dobbiamo intendere la Scrittura alla luce dell'esempio di Cristo e dei santi. Gesù non porse l'altra guancia allorché fu schiaffeggiato in casa di Anna, così come non la porse san Paolo quando, come raccontano gli Atti degli Apostoli, fu bastonato a Filippi. Non bisogna pertanto ritenere che Cristo abbia comandato alla lettera di presentare l'altra guancia a chi te ne ha già percossa una; occorre invece intendere le parole del Signore come riferite alla disposizione interiore; in altri termini, quando è necessario, dobbiamo essere disposti a che il nostro animo non muova ad ira contro chi ci percuote, e pronti a sopportare qualcosa di analogo e anche di più. Come appunto fece il Signore quando consegnò il proprio corpo alla morte» (In Ev. Ioannis espositio et lectura, 18,37).L'AMORE MISERICORDIOSO DI DIO VERSO DI NOI FONDA LA NOSTRA MISERICORDIA VERSO GLI ALTRIPossiamo individuare la fonte della norma di comportamento assegnataci nel fatto che noi siamo figli di Dio. Questo è il grande annuncio che il Signore è venuto a portarci, anzi questa è la stupenda ricchezza che ci è stata ottenuta dalla sua azione redentrice. Ora, è giusto e bello che i figli assomiglino al padre e si adoperino a conformarsi ai suoi esempi: proporci di imitare Dio nostro Padre nella sua attitudine ad amare e a donarsi, questo è il traguardo altissimo e affascinante che ci viene sorprendentemente indicato nella legge della Nuova Alleanza.Dio ci ha fatti oggetto della sua benevolenza quando eravamo ancora ostili a lui e ribelli, al punto da sacrificare per l'umanità peccatrice il suo unico Figlio. Perciò ci viene ordinato: Amate i vostri nemici, fate del bene a coloro che vi odiano (Lc 6,27); che è una cosa bellissima, facile da dire ma difficilissima da mettere in pratica.Benedite coloro che vi maledicono, pregate per coloro che vi maltrattano (Lc 6,28). Gesù non si è limitato a suggerircelo a parole, ce lo ha insegnato con la vita. Già confitto alla croce, ha invocato sui suoi uccisori la misericordia di Dio: Padre, perdonali perché non sanno quello che fanno (Lc 23,34). A sua imitazione Stefano, il primo martire, mentre moriva sotto i colpi di pietra aveva la forza di supplicare perché il peccato dei suoi assassini non venisse loro imputato (cf. At 7,60), dimostrando così di aver imparato bene la lezione del suo Redentore.L'amore più arduo da esercitare è proprio l'amore misericordioso, cioè l'amore che sa raggiungere anche i colpevoli e coloro che, sbagliando, si sono messi contro la verità, contro la Chiesa, contro di noi. Ma appunto di questo amore il Creatore ci ha dato l'esempio; e ce lo dà continuamente, sopportando la malvagità e le offese che a lui sciaguratamente sono rivolte. Perciò ci viene raccomandato: Siate misericordiosi, come è misericordioso il Padre vostro (Lc 6,36).IL DOVERE DI NON GIUDICARE LA COSCIENZA DI NESSUNO, CHE SOLO DIO PUÒ SCRUTARESenza dubbio la comprensione verso i nostri nemici non deve significare assenza di reazione nei confronti del male, della menzogna, del travisamento della realtà delle cose.A questo proposito mette conto di rileggere quanto è stato insegnato dal Concilio Vaticano II: «Certamente l'amore e l'amabilità [verso i nemici] non devono in alcun modo renderci indifferenti verso la verità e il bene. Anzi lo stesso amore spinge i discepoli di Cristo a annunziare a tutti gli uomini la verità che salva. Ma occorre distinguere tra l'errore, sempre da rifiutarsi, e l'errante, che conserva sempre la dignità di persona anche quando è macchiato da false o meno accurate nozioni religiose. Solo Dio è giudice e scrutatore dei cuori, perciò ci vieta di giudicare la colpevolezza interiore di chiunque» (Gaudium et spes, 28). Non giudicate è in effetti uno dei precetti più caratteristici e importanti di tutto il Vangelo.Ogni uomo è per gli altri uomini un mistero insondabile: che cosa ci sia nel suo cuore, da che cosa siano condizionati i suoi pensieri, in che misura gli accadimenti e i suoi dati fisici e psichici determinino le sue deliberazioni, tutto questo non è consentito a noi di sapere. Resta il segreto di Dio.Noi possiamo e dobbiamo valutare l'oggettività degli atti, ma non le intenzioni profonde e le responsabilità personali. Sarebbe ugualmente sbagliato sia non distinguere più tra bene e male, ritenendo che le azioni siano sottratte alla valutazione della morale oggettiva, sia pretendere di sostituirci al Signore nel giudicare il mondo intimo e segreto del soggetto che agisce.Gesù infine ci ricorda che a coloro che si impegnano a praticare il comando dell'amore, della misericordia, della generosità verso tutti, è riservata una ricompensa munifica: Una buona misura, pigiata, scossa, traboccante vi sarà versata nel grembo (Lc 6,38).Date e vi sarà dato (Lc 6,38): per quanto largamente possiamo donare a Dio in questa vita, più largamente sarà donato a noi da Dio nella vita eterna. Dio è più grande del nostro cuore (1 Gv 3,20) e sarà per noi un premio molto eccedente la magnanimità con cui l'avremo saputo amare.
