God spoke to Craig about healing for a lame Sikh priest. Then the police came... Jesus said it was for our good that he left the earth (John 16:7). That seems hard to believe. What could be better than sitting down and having a coffee with Jesus? Jesus is described as the living "word of God" (John 1:14) - that meant everything he said was God's voice as well as everything he did. The early disciples could hear God's voice as they were walking down the streets of Jerusalem, as they were sharing a meal with Jesus over bread and olives, as they were listening to Jesus preach on the temple steps. How could anything be better than that? The answer of course is that Jesus' departure signalled the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It was better not only because the Holy Spirit would remind us of everything Jesus said and did, he would also speak about things to come - that is, the issues that Jesus didn't cover while he was on earth! It's better because unlike Jesus who was limited to a physical body and the language and customs the first century Jews in the Greco-Roman world, the Holy Spirit speaks to apply those truths to new times, places and cultures! In this episode you'll see the truth of Jesus' words. Our guest, Craig Stephens is an officer of the Salvation Army and has heard God speak in places like India, China, Pakistan and communities in his own hometown. Craig ministers as an evangelist across Australia and beyond and trains others to share the good news. He also works with global missions movement, Impact Nations, and loves to take teams across the world to train them in preaching the gospel and healing the sick. In this episode, you'll hear about: Craig's God story, growing up in church but then leaving as he didn't feel like he could behave well enough to meet the church's standards. It was a few years later that Craig re-entered the church after a miraculous encounter with the Holy Spirit that changed his heart and gave him boldness to share his faith with others. The Holy Spirit lit a fuse that wouldn't go out! Craig's God-conversation that led him into ministry and in particular, working among the marginalised and broken in Sydney. Craig tells how the Holy Spirit showed him a vision of his middle-class church being mobilised to serve the poor with details about the actual building they could use. Later Craig shares how a visit to the local police and an offer to serve in the most difficult area of the town led them to the exact building! Then they watched as God brought transformation… I could see the people in our church carrying the grace they had in the community… the schoolteachers sitting alongside bedraggled, roughed up kids and coaching them in their schoolwork… the physiotherapists doing therapy in a particular room… the ladies who serve the morning tea hosting the community in a cafe. I couldn't stop seeing it. The incredible God-conversation that led Craig and his team to pray a Sikh priest who had been lame since birth and the God-conversation that subsequently led to a last minute escape from arrest by the Sikh police. A God conversation that led Craig and his team to reach people by the side of the road at the Athens Olympics. Subscribe to God Conversations with Tania Harris and never miss an episode! About Craig Stephens Craig is a Salvation Army Officer with a deep hunger for encounters of God. As the Australian Eastern Territorial Evangelist, he trains and equips people in evangelism and is responsible for “New Expressions” of The Salvation Army. Craig also oversees the Central Coast Regional Prayer Room (an interdenominational regional prayer space), a small network of house churches called “community tables”, a company of people gifted in evangelism across nearly 30 churches. Craig further serves on the board of Impact Nations (a global missions movement) (impactnations.com) and loves to take teams across the world to train them in ...
Got feedback about this episode? Send Carolyn a textLeanne Klassen is back on the show, along with her coach, the legendary Malindi Elmore, to break down Leanne's outstanding marathon performance last month in Houston.Malindi is a three-time Olympian and a true icon of Canadian distance running. A Stanford graduate, she first competed in the 1500 meters at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and then made a remarkable transition to the marathon—placing 9th at the 2021 Tokyo Games and representing Canada again in Paris last summer, a full 20 years after her Olympic debut! At nearly 45 years of age and living in Kelowna, BC, with her husband, Graham, and their two young boys, Malindi continues to train and compete at the highest level while coaching athletes and winning national titles.Leanne was first on the show in the fall of 2023, where we talked about navigating injuries with grace. As a sub-elite distance runner, she's faced her fair share of setbacks, which led her and Malindi to take a fresh approach to her Houston Marathon buildup. Instead of prioritizing high mileage and grueling long runs, they focused on a less-is-more strategy—emphasizing smart training, recovery, and strength work. The results were nothing short of incredible. Leanne not only felt stronger than ever in training, but she also took a massive two minutes off her personal best, running 2:40:52 in tough weather conditions. As endurance athletes, we often fall into the trap of thinking more is always better—but what if real breakthroughs happen by training smarter, not harder? Whether you're a recreational runner or competing at an elite level, this is the kind of story that deserves more attention.Connect with Leanne:Inspired Soles Interview: Navigating Injuries With GraceInstagram: @leanneklassen7Connect with Malindi:Website: malindielmore.comInstagram: @malindielmoreConnect with Carolyn:Instagram: @inspiredsolescast or @carolyn.c.coffinYou can help spread the running love! Thomas Doxiadis worked in the construction field before becoming an architect, eventually pursuing a Masters of Architecture and a Masters of Landscape Architecture at Harvard. He served in the Greek Navy and later worked as an architect for the Greek Olympics and at the same time taught at university. He then started his business which has been running for 25 years. Managing Work Life Balance and Personal Growth Expanding from his professional life, Thomas spent the next 10 years exploring his mind, heart, and relationships with people. Through therapy, he found that people are much more interesting than he thought. He joined a coaching group called "Get Your Six," which focuses on treating oneself better through health, sleep, nutrition, exercise, relationships, emotions, and beliefs. The group is structured around six people sharing experiences and helping each other through different situations. Life Lessons and Changes Thomas talks about life changes related to health, sleep, nutrition, and exercise. He explains that building a business from scratch and trying to be at the top of his field took a lot of focus and energy away from self-care. He emphasizes the importance of taking care of oneself, eating right, sleeping right, learning basic breathing and meditation techniques, and changing priorities. He also emphasizes exploring and understanding the stories of our lives that we construct and how we spend our energy. Working in the Greek Navy Thomas shares his experiences in the Greek Navy, where he spent time guarding armaments and working with 18-year-olds, which was a strange situation for him after his time in the professional world, but he found solace in having fun and laughing more than he had in the last decade. He shares a story when he was on guard duty and thought he was under siege. Working in the Athens Olympics Thomas recounts his experience working on the Athens Olympics. He had a positive experience despite the short turn around time of three years to complete construction. He worked on the design and construction of mega projects such as parts of the Athenian sea front and coastal areas, Olympic villages, and sports infrastructure. Additionally, he worked on setting up the city's flags, banners, and animation programs. He also spent two years dealing with the environmental and green aspects of the Olympics. His highlight was organizing the first mass olive transplanting, which involved moving the old Athens horse race track to a new area and becoming the Olympic Equestrian Center. The area was full of ancient olive groves and vineyards, some of them as old as 3000 years. The trees were transplanted to create a park and part of the Olympic venues. The trees were reused for the redevelopment of the Athens airport, ensuring they would be a valuable asset for future generations. Growing up in Greece Thomas grew up in Greece in the seventies when Greece was still relatively untouched by economic growth and tourism. The rapid economic changes after Greece entered the European Union led to the destruction of places he loved. He studied architecture and landscape architecture to find a win-win solution to building on sensitive, culturally and ecologically important places. His work and portfolio have been built over the past 25 years, focusing on resolving this problem. Sustainable Development and Landscapes of Cohabitation Thomas has worked on several projects since his time at the Olympics. One of his most proud projects was working on a pristine Aegean Island, where he and a high school friend developed techniques called the landscapes of cohabitation, which focuses on symbiosis between the environment and human activity. This approach has transformed the local ecosystem and changed people's minds about landscape work. His most recent project is with an MIT graduate from Northern Italy who built an energy corporation in the US and now invests in a small village in Tuscany. They are working on a 200-year sustainability plan, involving climate modeling and climate modeling to understand the future of the village and bringing vitality back to rural areas. Progressive Adaption to Climate Change Thomas' goal is to revive the countryside and lead it towards a better and more sustainable future, especially as climate change makes a better future more difficult. The European Union has been funding climate change adaptation programs for countries and universities for the last decade. These programs aim to understand the main impacts of climate change on public health, infrastructure, economy, and tourism. Landscapes are not just visual representations of environmental changes, but also provide a spatial understanding of what will happen due to climate change. Thomas talks about nine case studies that have been conducted across Greece, covering a region the size of Cape Cod. The eastern Mediterranean will be one of the most impacted areas globally, with heat waves, fire, and changing conditions. The European Union stopped spending on mitigation a decade ago and started spending on adaptation. Thomas explains what this entails. Design for Living Systems Landscape architects are professionals who design for living systems, not just concrete or steel. They have the skill set to deal with earth, water, plants, animals, and living systems in physical space. The profession has transitioned from being mainly about aesthetics to problem-solving around nature in the past. The advice given by landscape architects is not necessarily heated or useful, but rather based on their experiences and lessons learned. He believes that architects should focus on the bright goal of a better future through design but also be more pragmatic about their surroundings. Thomas also discusses his artistic projects, such as the Castriani mine restoration. He believes that architecture is useful for solving problems through giving form to things, and that the way things look is important because it serves as communication and storytelling. People understand the world through narratives, so architects have the opportunity and responsibility to configure a part of the world that tells people something to add to their own narrative. Influential Harvard Professors and Courses During his time at Harvard, he took courses in Ed Wilson's Evolutionary Biology and Moral Reasoning 22. He also studied landscape ecology at the Harvard Design School, where landscape ecology was a driving force and he learned how you could design with nature and for nature rather than against it, which set him on his life path both professionally and intellectually. He enjoyed playing music and attending international talks at the Kennedy School. This experience helped him become more international and consider himself a citizen of the world. The Redemption Games: Ryk Neethling and the Athens Olympics 4x100m RelayThis episode dives into the captivating story of Ryk Neethling and the South African 4x100m freestyle relay team at the 2004 Athens Olympics. It's a tale of redemption, teamwork, and overcoming adversity.Bruised by SydneyThe 2000 Sydney Olympics were a disaster for Neethling. Ranked in the top three globally for several events, he left empty-handed. The weight of expectation, coupled with the dominance of the Australian team, crushed his spirit. He retreated from competitive swimming for nearly two years.Finding Solace in WaterBack in South Africa, Neethling rediscovered his love for swimming. Coaching youngsters and participating in Masters classes reignited his passion. He realized swimming wasn't just about competition; it was his refuge.A Second ChanceIn 2001, Neethling decided to give competitive swimming another go. He transformed himself from a distance swimmer to a powerful sprinter. However, his journey wasn't smooth. He struggled with self-doubt and strained relationships.Building a BrotherhoodEnter Roland Schoeman and Lyndon Ferns. Together, under the guidance of coaches Rick DeMont and Frank Busch at the University of Arizona, they formed a formidable team. DeMont, a former Olympic champion who lost his medal due to a doping controversy, instilled a sense of purpose and camaraderie.Barcelona Blues and a Turning PointA disappointing eighth-place finish at the 2003 World Championships in Barcelona was a wake-up call. Busch and DeMont challenged the team to invest in each other and dream big. They envisioned an Olympic medal. The Quest for the FourthThe team lacked a strong fourth member. After trials and tribulations, Darian Townsend emerged, completing the puzzle.Olympic Antics and American AnomaliesThe Athens Games weren't without drama. Issues with sponsorships and DeMont's accreditation caused friction. On a lighter note, DeMont used a hilarious anecdote about kudu bulls to motivate the team before the final.Hall's Absence, Ferns' FuryThe biggest surprise was the American team's line-up. Trash-talking Gary Hall Jr. was surprisingly benched. Ferns, fueled by Hall's pre-race taunts, swam the race of his life. From Soutie to HeroTownsend, the "soutie" amidst the Afrikaans-speaking "boertjies," silenced doubters with a stellar performance.A Race for the AgesNeethling, anchoring the team, took the lead and held on for dear life in a nail-biting finish. South Africa not only won gold but also smashed the Olympic record set by Australia in Sydney.National EuphoriaBack home, the victory sparked national jubilation. Neethling's family erupted in celebration, and impromptu dance parties broke out across South Africa.Redemption CompleteThe Athens triumph marked Neethling's personal and collective redemption. It proved that with belief, hard work, and a dash of luck, even the most bruised egos can rise to Olympic glory.Donate to The Luke Alfred Show on Patreon.Get my book: Vuvuzela Dawn: 25 Sporting Stories that Shaped a New Nation.Get full written episodes of the show a day early on Substack.Check out The Luke Alfred Show on YouTube and Facebook.
TW: Descriptions of grooming, sexual abuse as a minor. Listen with care. Growing up in the Netherlands, Annette Paterakis rode ponies competitively and had Olympic aspirations. However, transitioning to riding horses was difficult, and teenage Annette found herself going from top placings to being eliminated in the show ring. With dreams and investments on the line, Annette needed some help. Unfortunately, it came in the form of a predator. In this forthcoming interview, Annette shares how she was groomed into a sexual relationship with her trainer, who was thirty years her senior. It's a story about a quest for worthiness, exploitation by a trusted figure in her life, and the crushing isolation of secrecy. Still, and more importantly, Annette's experience is about resilience, hope, and healing. Caroline and Annette leave no stone unturned and also discuss: Her trainer's unreasonable pursuit for Annette to represent Greece at the Athens Olympics. How the grooming process started and what the red flags were. How Annette found the courage to leave the relationship six years later. How friends, acquaintances, or sexual abuse prevention programs for athletes might support victims in similar situations. It's extremely challenging for victims to come forward and share their stories, but in doing so, they raise awareness and reduce stigma. If you or anyone you know is being impacted by sexual abuse in the US, this is a list of resources for getting help via We Ride Together: https://www.weridetogether.today/get-help/crisis-resources

Meet Simone Carniglia, Six-Star finisher, and Guinness World Record holder as the fastest runner with Type One diabetes—with an amazing average time of 2:42:30 per race! Simone started his running journey to lose weight and was inspired by Stefano Baldini, the great Italian marathoner who won the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Running these incredibly fast times is impressive, but for a diabetic, it is significantly more challenging. A diabetic marathoner has to continuously control blood sugar levels in order to be safe, not faint, and perform at their best. They're more subject to cramping and dehydration during physical activity, especially when glucose levels aren't managed properly. Simone has only been running for five years and is just getting started. He hopes his journey will inspire many other diabetic athletes to not give up on their dreams and never give up. Simone's story proves that with the right training, nutrition, therapy, strategy, and use of the latest technologies—such as Abbott Global and Freestyle Libre 3—diabetic runners can achieve amazing results that weren't imaginable just a few short years ago Simone is grateful for the Abbott Global profile they featured on him for World Diabetes Day and is excited to get started on a second round of World Marathon Majors. I'm rooting for Simone to keep inspiring and look forward to seeing him out there in 2024! He can train and race with the best professional cyclists in the world, set bike course records at the world's most prestigious Ironmans, and even run a 2:45 marathon after a 2.4 mile swim and 112-mile bike. It was the final event of the men's gymnastics competition in the 2004 Athens Olympics. American Paul Hamm's hopes for the gold medal seemed to come crashing down. He made a lopsided landing and actually toppled into the judges' tables. That gave him a disappointing 9.137 score that virtually doomed his chances for a first place finish. After some moments of what he described as "depression," he decided to fight back with what would have to be the best two performances of his life, just to win the bronze. So, Paul took a deep breath and he began to move powerfully through the air with a routine that was filled with technical challenges. It was a nearly perfect performance with a solid landing at the end. His score: 9.837. At first, he didn't know what that meant in terms of a medal. Then he heard his coach screaming, "Olympic champion!" The gold medal was his. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Messed Up But Getting Up." Paul Hamm messed up, but he didn't give up. He fell down, but he didn't stay down. Maybe that's a picture of you, or it's going to be a picture of you because you've messed up. You've made some mistakes. That failure could be final if you let it be. Or you can get up and you can make a defiant comeback. Which is exactly what the devil is counting on you not doing. He got you down. He's hoping you'll be discouraged, defeated, shamed. You'll stay down. Well, this is your day to say, "No way, Satan! I belong to Jesus, and in His strength, I am coming back!" That kind of comeback defiance is powerfully expressed in our word for today from the Word of God in Micah 7, beginning with verse 8. "Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light." Getting up again, coming back - that's a choice, and it's one you need to make this very day. Serve notice that the devil's victory is a temporary victory, and you're not staying down. Micah goes on to say, "Because I have sinned against you, I will bear the Lord's wrath, until he pleads my case and establishes my right." You can't recover unless you repent. The comeback trail really begins at the cross of Jesus where you acknowledge your sin and you remember that it took the death of God's Son to pay for it. How will He respond? Hebrews 7:25 says, "He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them." He pleads your case, and your sin is erased from God's Book. After a horrendous sin of immorality, here was David's turning point. He said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord...and You forgave me the guilt of my sin." Out of the darkness; back into the light. Micah's announcement of a spiritual comeback continues: "He will bring me out into the light; I will see His righteousness. Then my enemy will see it and will be covered with shame." I love this! The devil's been trying to bury you in shame. You need to get up; remove whatever junk might bring you down again, and then declare, "Lord, I am going to make the devil sorry he ever messed with me. I'm going to push back the darkness. I'm going to take prisoners away from him! He's going to be the one who ends up covered with shame!" You can be walking, talking proof of the grace, the love, and the restoring power of Jesus Christ; turning your fall into a mighty testimony for Jesus. That voice that's telling you, "It's over. What's the use? God doesn't love you after what you've done." That's the voice of hell. Those are lies! The truth is that according to the Bible, "where sin increased, grace increased all the more" (Romans 5:20). And because of God's amazing grace, your fall doesn't have to be final. You went down. Yes, but you're not staying down. You're going to come back more of a winner, and more of a warrior than ever before!
Welcome to the latest episode of the podcast. This week I am talking to Alison Mowbray, former Olympic medal winning rower in the British Rowing Team, and current leadership development consultant and coach. She made the British Rowing team that year at the age of 27. Two years later, she achieved last minute qualification for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, where she finished 10th in the single sculls event. Alison worked part-time as a science teacher while training full-time towards the Athens Olympics and in 2004, at the age of 33 and in the last race of her career achieved an Olympic silver medal in the final of the quad sculls. Retiring from international sport, Alison was a science teacher for several years alongside a developing career in Inspirational Speaking. Right, swimming! It's probably the discipline that frustrates triathletes most. It takes years of regular pool time to make even small gains. There is so much noise out there that choosing the right path for yourself is a big task. I'm fortunate to be at the front end of the triathlon swim, but everyone needs help which is why I turned to this week's guest, swim coach Josh Spencer, to help me understand why my shoulder was hurting after each swim. Josh highlighted some technical flaws and gave me some drills to help correct the problem. On chatting with Josh it turns out that we're pretty aligned in our approach to helping swimmers improve, and I really wanted to share some of his knowledge with you in this episode. There are many topics covered, including some you might find contrary to popular belief: There are only two ways to get faster in the pool Why swimming backstroke will improve your freestyle If you want to be a better swimmer you might need to up your mobility, not your volume The polarised approach to fitness works really well for swimming Sometimes you have to forget about the clock Even a 5-minute pre-swim warm-up can make a big difference to your pool session The YES or NO round - Josh's thoughts on popular swim tools Josh doesn't do social media but if you would like to contact him about swim coaching then please email him. We talked about the swim stroke of Alexander Popov. Please watch this video, there are some really good technical points from 13 minutes onwards. This is a great video. Probably the best ever men's 200m freestyle race (Athens Olympics 2004) - Thorpe v Van de Hoogenband v Phelps. Just watch the underwater footage of the catch. Almost perfect!! Josh also recommends the following books: The Rise of the Ultra Runners: A Journey to the Edge of Human Endurance by Adharanand Finn Lifespan: Why We Age and Why We Don't Have To by David Sinclair To download your FREE 4-week mobility plan, please click here. Today's sporting history looks back to when our first and only ever cycling gold medal was won by Sarah Ulmer. She was racing at the 2004 Athens Olympics when she made history.
As a young and rising gymnast in Montreal, she suffered career ending injuries which led her to switching to diving. Caroline took to it quickly and was on the road to the Athens Olympics as a synchro diver when she got a case of the "twisties," most recently made mainstream knowledge by Simone Biles in the last summer Olympics. With not one but two careers ended too soon, she found the circus and hasn't looked back since. Caroline joins me on the podcast and shares her experiences in performing, the start of her other career in real estate and how she balances it all with a five year old daughter. Episode Highlights [03:51] Andy's Background Andy was a full-time athlete and studied sports science at university. Bringing together his degree and athletic background, he built his company, Precision Fuel & Hydration. Andy participated in triathlons and aimed for the 2004 Athens Olympics. His performance sweet-spot was races over an hour and less than five or six hours. [09:11] The Story Behind Precision Fuel & Hydration During races, Andy performed well in cool conditions. He noticed that he didn't do well in hot weather. He had a high sweat rate, which led to cramps and low sodium levels. After getting a sweat test, he discovered that he was losing too much salt through sweat. So, he dialled up the sodium and reduced his fluid intake. The electrolyte dosage is crucial for optimum performance. Andy started Precision Fuel & Hydration by sweat testing people to determine how much fluid and electrolytes they need. [18:17] Gut Issues & Electrolytes Gut issues can occur when there's a mismatch between your physiology and the amount of electrolytes you're consuming. Listen to your body and make sure your intake of fluid and electrolytes are right for you. [21:23] How To Get A Sweat Test Precision Fuel & Hydration has sweat test centres in the UK, America, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. If you're interested in getting a sweat test, you can find their locations on their website or reach out to find someone local to you. Their website also has a free online hydration test. There's no "one size fits all" approach to hydration; an individualised approach to health is needed. [27:37] The Relationship Between Sodium & Potassium The relationship between the ratios of body fluid and electrolytes is essential. Sodium is the predominant electrolyte in your extracellular fluid, while potassium is the predominant electrolyte in your intracellular fluid. An imbalance between sodium and potassium can be detrimental. Potassium doses can be dangerous if not done properly. [27:37] The Role of Magnesium You don't lose vast amounts of magnesium when you sweat. However, some people find that taking magnesium supplements helps with cramps. The majority of cramping incidents can be solved with the right sodium supplementation, making it a game-changer in an athlete's performance. [37:11] Carb Fueling If you load up on carbs before endurance events, you can go faster for longer. The more carbohydrates you can oxidise, the lower the oxygen your body consumes in exercise, and the faster you can go — that's why marathon runners consume lots of carbs. Maximise carbohydrate intake and absorption for endurance events. For fast moving-athletes, the minimum carbohydrate recommendation is around 60 to 90 grams per hour. Endurance training helps the body burn fat more efficiently, but when you're burning fat, your pace slows–which isn't optimal for racing. [47:54] What's In Their Gels? Precision Fuel & Hydration gels are maltodextrin-based with some fructose. Other gels are more like syrups, which can make people sick, but Precision Fuel & Hydration gels are like jelly or jam without flavour, colour, and electrolytes. Its ingredients are carbs, pectin, and citric acid. Fat adaptation and carbs depend on your body and activity. While carbs might seem unfashionable with the rise of the keto diet and fat adaptation, carb intake can also help with fueling. [57:22] Intermittent Fasting Andy cycles his carbohydrate intake around his activity level. His wife is interested in intermittent fasting from a scientifically-based perspective. He does not follow the same regime as his wife, but he skips breakfast and narrows his eating window depending on his activity. Doing intermittent fasting effectively fires up the same cellular machine. Don't be rigid about fasting and eat when you need to so you won't be deficient. [1:07:14] Find Out How Much Carbs You Need Their Quick Carb Calculator shows how many carbs you need per hour. You can also access one-on-one video calls with their sports science team so you can get an individualised approach. [1:09:26] Staying True To Their Mission Precision Fuel & Hydration began offering one-on-one video calls during the pandemic. They use automation to make these calls quick and simple. The core of their business is to be a resource for athletes — and they always keep this mission in mind as they scale. 7 Powerful Quotes ‘I thought I'd solve the problem for everyone because I was taking a high dose and I was just like high dose is the way to go. But you learn over time that actually that more individualized approach is the way to go.' ‘The thing about body fluid and electrolytes is that the absolute levels of them are important. But what's even more important is the relationship between the ratios between them.' ‘Sodium is the predominant electrolyte in your extracellular fluid. Potassium is the predominant electrolyte in your intracellular fluid. When you get those two seriously out of whack that can cause problems — no matter if you've got the right level of water.' ‘What happens with 90 odd percent of athletes that have electrolyte disturbances, it's a sodium imbalance issue because extracellular fluid is very sodium rich. It doesn't have a lot of potassium in it.' ‘At least the majority, if not a vast majority of that cramping, can be alleviated with the right sodium supplementation.' ‘If you want to go fast doing endurance events even for multiple hours, carbohydrate is your friend and you kind of need to work on ways to maximise intake and absorption.' ‘One-size-fits-all soundbite advice like, ‘With electrolytes, you need to do this. With fluid, you need to do this.' The reality is there's a little bit more or a lot more nuance in a lot of people's heads.'
