Warriors utility Dylan Walker joins Martin Devlin on It's Only Sport ahead of his side's mouth-watering NRL match against the Melbourne Storm in Auckland on Saturday evening. The Warriors are on a three-game winning streak highlighted by victories over the Penrith Panthers and Dolphins, who both sit inside the top four. During that three-game run Walker has started at lock, but he'll come off the bench this weekend. He talks to Devlin about their massive win over the North Queensland Cowboys o the road and their week since, how they've turned things around after sitting as low as 14th on the ladder, and much more.
On today's podcast, It's Only Sport host Martin Devlin steadies himself, lifts his bat and smacks a slew of sports topics over the rope for six, including the Black Caps vs West Indies at the Twenty20 cricket World Cup and the Super Rugby Pacific semifinals coming up this weekend.First off - as always - Devlin delivers a sermon, this time on two new assistant coaches being added to the All Blacks ahead of the test season. That makes it nine people in total that are employed by New Zealand Rugby and the All Blacks with the term 'coach' in their job title, with Scott Robertson of course being the head coach. But is nine a few too many voices to be ringing the players' ears? Does such a massive number of coaches in camp actually make the team better? Then, Devlin welcomes a handful of guests onto the show including Blues assistant coach Greg Tito ahead of his side's Super Rugby semi at home to the Brumbies, Super Rugby Pacific board chair Kevin Malloy explaining his role, Warriors utility Dylan Walker previewing their NRL match at home to the Melbourne Storm, Greg Martin talking married life and both rugby codes, and Ron Barr looking back on the life and legacy of NBA icon Jerry West who passed away on Thursday. All that and much more!
Once again, chaos is unleashed. This time, it comes in the form of ‘Coagulated Bliss'. The new album from grindcore legends, Full of Hell. It will be released on April 26th, 2024, via Closed Casket Activities. Full of Hell are back, and while they are as horribly intense as ever, this album comes with a deeper focus on song-writing. The chaos is still there, don't be fooled, but there are so many clear attempts to make this a tighter and more absorbing listen. Something that is reflected in both the variety and length of many of the tracks. Full of Hell aren't standing still, and nor will you once you get your ears around Coagulated Bliss. AJ and Rhys recap a dramatic opening week of the NRL finals. The boys weigh up Brisbane's strong defensive output against the Storm holding them to 0 for the first time since the Storm entered the competition in 1998. Also, we sympathise with Melbourne on their loss and horror injury run which included the disastrous injury to full-back Ryan Papenhuyzen (we send our love). The boys turn attention to Penrith's strong win over the Wahs before criticising the broadcasters for focusing too much on Nathan Cleary and give some well deserved praise to others within the squad who deserve the praise they missed out on. We look at the Warriors demise and end the Dylan Walker halves shift, it's not working guys. AJ is jubilant after the Chooks narrow away win to Bob the Builder's home (sorry Shark Park). He gives a praise to those that had to change positions due to the horror injury run and Tedesco's sin-bin. Rhys soon gets AJ on track and gives the Sharks' a post-mortem and tells their fans on what their club needs to do moving beyond their failure of a season. They soon turn to Newcastle to recap and epic 10 try elimination final which went right down to the wire and the 5 minute extra-time period. Newcastle escape with a controversial late penalty and Canberra's fortunate appearance comes to an end. The boys recap Round 8 of the NRLW, the second week of the NSW Cup finals and the third week of the QLD Cup finals series before concluding with our LOLCOW of the Week award.
