It's comeback season, baby!  2:12 - Corbin Carroll and Shohei Ohtani are the only Asians to make it through the first round of All-Star voting! (We recorded this before they announced the teams, forgive the late news) 2:58 - It was a hot week in pitching! Dane Dunning nearly throws a complete game, Kenta Maeda is back from the IL, and Yusei Kikuchi is still dominating on the mound…and being microaggressed off the field. 20:09 - Position players were crushing this week: Kyle Higashioka catches Domingo German's perfect game, several guys' bats are hot hot hot, Bligh Madris enters the Asians in Baseball Cinematic Universe, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa is coming for Ohtani's gig. 55:46 - Ohtani Talk! We saw peak Ohtani x Angels this week as he struck out 12 Dodgers and still took the L, he had his first multi-homer game as a pitcher, and the Angels are doubling down on their big bet.  Bligh Madrid's debut article: https://www.mlb.com/news/bligh-madris-first-palauan-player-in-majors Seiya Suzuki is reeling in Ohtani: https://www.marqueesportsnetwork.com/seiya-suzuki-makes-his-pitch-to-shohei-ohtani-in-hilarious-fashion/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/asiansinbaseball/message

What can words do? Well, since Dennis Eckerlsey called out the Pirates team as being a hodgepodge of nothingness the offense has scored 16 runs in their last three games. Tonight, they not only had 5 runs, but they contributed towards it with 13 total hits. All but one starter had at least one hit, while Kevin Newman, Greg Allen, Bligh Madris, and Ben Gamel each enjoyed a multi-hit game. Though he had a terrible base running blunder that could've cost the lead, Ben Gamel redeemed himself at the plate with 3 total hits as well as a HBP in the 9th. It was Kevin Newman's second hit that gave the Pirates the lead in the 9th and then Michael Chavis' clutch hit vs. a lefty that ultimately won the game.Bryse Wilson did enough to keep the team in the game as he gave up 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 home runs. What am I making out of Bryse Wilson so far? Well you will hear just how he ultimately is opening my eyes ever so slightly.

The Steelers have signed Larry Ogunjobi. Ogunjobi was in the scuffle involving Mason Rudolph and Myles Garrett a few years ago while he played in Cleveland. Poni thinks this is the most disrespectful move the Steelers have done to Rudolph, topping the signing of Mitch Trubisky and drafting of Kenny Pickett because Ogunjobi is someone that called out Rudolph's character. The guys then debated if Rudolph has been treated fairly in Pittsburgh. Both think he has gotten more than his fair shake and Chris referenced Rudolph losing his job to Duck Hodges the year Ben Roethlisberger was out for the season.    Pirates insider Jason Mackey joined the show. Jason said the team has definitely become more interesting over the last few days because of the emergence of two new young players to the equation. Not only has Oneil Cruz played well, but Bligh Madris hit his first big league home run last night after 3 hits in his debut. Jason said there hasn't been a player with an awe factor like Cruz in a very long time. Jason thinks the Pirates will take the training wheels off so the fans can keep seeing Cruz. He said the players are all-in on Cruz as much as the fans. Jason picked who out of the young players will have the best MLB career – Oneil Cruz. He expects Nick Gonzales to also have a good pro career. Jason still projects Cruz to be a corner outfielder eventually.

Golden State captured the franchise’s fourth championship in eight years Thursday night by beating the Boston Celtics 103-90 in the clinching Game 6. NBA – Orlando still evaluating all options with No. 1 draft pick College basketball season ended almost three months ago, the NBA draft lottery was more than a month ago and the draft itself is later this week. Other teams have called to gauge what the asking price would be if they want to trade for that selection. NBA – Magic-Rockets, Pistons-Blazers to open Vegas summer league NBA Summer League will start with a little Midnight Madness feel, at least in some of the country. NBA – Champion Warriors celebrate fourth title in eight seasons From the moment all those months ago that Klay Thompson uttered “championship or bust,” the Golden State Warriors seemed set to make good on his lofty proclamation. It took Thompson getting healthy at last, then Draymond Green and Stephen Curry overcoming their own injuries down the stretch and a cast of youngsters shining on the big playoff stage for the Warriors to win again. Seems like the process should be winding down. Orlando Magic President Jeff Weltman sees it differently. He says the real work is just getting started. The Magic haven’t decided yet what they’ll do on Thursday night when the draft rolls around and they have the No. 1 pick. Other teams have called to gauge what the asking price would be if they want to trade for that selection. NBA – Magic-Rockets, Pistons-Blazers to open Vegas summer league NBA Summer League will start with a little Midnight Madness feel, at least in some of the country. And if the Orlando Magic keep the No. 1 draft pick, then that player won’t wait long for his summer debut. The league released the 75-game summer league schedule on Monday, with the first game in Las Vegas set to pit Orlando against Houston on July 7 at 10 p.m. Eastern. That game will be followed by a midnight Eastern tip-off between Portland and Detroit. Those two matchups are the only ones on the Day 1 schedule. All teams play five games in Vegas. The championship is July 17. WNBA – Women’s National Basketball Association Tonight Chicago Sky at Las Vegas Aces, 10:00 p.m. WNBA – Wife of WNBA’s Griner tells AP scheduled call never happened WNBA star Brittney Griner tried to call her wife nearly a dozen times through the American embassy in Russia on the couple’s fourth anniversary Saturday, but they never connected since the phone line at the embassy was not staffed. That’s according to Cherelle Griner, who tells the Associated Press that the couple has not spoken by phone in the four months since Griner’s arrest in Russia on drug-related charges. That was to have changed Saturday, when a long-awaited call was to have finally taken place. But the day came and went without any contact, leaving an anguished Cherelle Griner to wonder what went wrong. FINA – Ledecky leads 1-2 American finish; Italian sets backstroke mark Italy’s Thomas Ceccon has set a world record in the men’s 100 backstroke and Katie Ledecky has claimed yet another gold at the swimming world championships in Budapest.  Ceccon stunned the competition by clocking 51.60 seconds to shave 0.15 seconds off the previous best mark set by American Ryan Murphy at the 2016 Olympics. It’s the Italian’s first world title.  Ledecky extended her record haul of titles to 17 with her fourth in the 1,500 freestyle alone. Ledecky never looked threatened and finished 14.74 seconds ahead of Katie Grimes. Ledecky punched the water in delight then embraced her teammate. NCAAMBKB – Basketball player at Houston Baptist killed in New York shooting New York City police say a college basketball player was killed and eight other people were wounded Monday in an early-morning shooting at a gathering in Harlem.  Officials at Houston Baptist University say 21-year-old senior Darius Lee was killed. Today's three HR game lifted Suwinski's wRC+ 24 points on the year ending his 9-game slump. As one co-host may have questioned his power potential, it looks pretty clear that the power is legit regardless of the role he will carve as a player. Let's also focus on today's pitching as Mitch Keller continued his good stretch while overcoming adversity early in today's game. What was the biggest takeaway from Keller start? Let's just say the bad 1st inning played a big part in the excitement. The day everybody has been waiting for is now upon us. Tomorrow will be the day that Oneil Cruz makes his return to the majors and get his call in 2022. Along with Cruz, Bligh Madris has also been selected. With no official announcement made currently, we discuss what player movements we might see.

Let's start off this show by talking about the interesting, but terrible, series vs the Cubs. Though it seemed like in every game the Pirates were in a position to lose, they dropped every one in some crazy fashion - but thanks to Mitch in the chat, let's also remember the epic series Anthony Alford had.Tenures coming to a close? Well, hear out thoughts on those of Anthony Alford, Cole Tucker, Phillip Evans, and why players like Bligh Madris and Jared Oliva didn't get the September call up with rosters expanded.Ke'Bryan Hayes has not had the productive offensive season many of us were hoping, but based on the issues we are seeing this season there should be light at the end of the tunnel. What has changed this yea and is there maybe even more behind it than just that?Yoshi Ysutsugo is still killing the ball and DiNardo presents Jim a decision to make RIGHT NOW for the 2022 season. Lastly, we dive Down On The Farm to talk Pirates Prospects and who of those may be going to the Arizona Fall League this year.
