Rundown[Intro] Chicago White Sox finish 4-3 against Detroit and Kansas City in large thanks to the rookies performance. [7:41] The story of how Tyler Alexander called for a ride in Milwaukee to Chicago, arrive to the game late, and then make his White Sox debut the next inning.[12:33] Josh was very skeptical of Chase Meidroth playing shortstop. But after watching more of Meidroth at shortstop, and paired with Baseball Savant loving his range at the position, Josh's mind has changed. Rundown[Intro] Colson Montgomery is back thanks to his back spasms calming down. It looks like he's the frontrunner to be Opening Day shortstop, but what if he doesn't pick up his hitting? What if the back barks on him again? Then what's the White Sox plan at shortstop?[19:08] Position outlook: Outfield. With Andrew Benintendi and Austin Slater doubtful in being ready by Opening Day, what is the White Sox outfield roster looking like?[26:23] Position outlook: Infield. Or will someone like Jacob Amaya get the nod just in case Montgomery gets hurt?[36:59] Best story from camp is the emergence of RHP Shane Smith who is impressing with his 98 MPH fastball. Would the White Sox be better off having Smith be in the rotation over Bryse Wilson?

Then, JR sits down with Brewers reliever Bryse Wilson (57:30), one of the many success stories in the bullpen this year. Tonight's game was really fun and exciting to watch, until the Pirates were reminded they are the 2022 Pittsburgh Pirates. With JT Brubaker returning from the IL to make his final start this year, he showed flashes of what made him look intriguing for most of the season in the first few innings. He only did last 2.2 innings before being replaced by Bryse Wilson and ultimately giving up 3 earned runs. On tonight's postgame we talk about the season JT had and what 2023 may have in store for his role. The Pirates had a huge 3rd inning rally that provided almost all the offense as they scored 7 runs on 9 hits. Every starter outside of Tyler Heineman had a hit tonight. Celebrating his birthday, Oneil Cruz went 3-for-6 with a stolen base. Along with that offense came a critical throwing error as well which leads to us also discussing his future at the position and what you do with him for next year. However, as fun and exciting it was the bullpen couldn't hold a 4 run lead and ultimately allowed the game to go into extra's where the Pirates ultimately lost the game.
The Pirates Bullpen now has an MLB worst 6.58 ERA in the month of September as their 4 earned tonight lead by another bad outing from Wil Crowe gave the Pirates their 8th loss in a row.The night started with Bryse Wilson taking the mound. He came into the game with one of the worst ERA's by a starting pitcher in all of baseball, but did enough to keep this team in the game for the win. His only real damage was the 2-run shot in the second inning. The offense actually did show up to provide 5 runs. Bryan Reynolds hit his 25th home run for a career season high and Ji-hwan Bae debuted tonight getting his first MLB hit as well as two stolen bases.
Today was a battle of exit velocity and which club could persevere through it. Both Bryse Wilson and Corbin Burnes were giving up really hard hit balls that were luckily being caught by each teams defense. Until they weren't.The third inning unraveled for Bryse Wilson as he gave up four straight hard hits which lead to his departure and the 3-0 deficit. It wasn't long until it caught with Burnes as well. Newman, Marcano, and Delay each got hits which was then capitalized on a 3-run 117mph home run by Oneil Cruz that provided the Pirates with the lead. Sadly, there was a lot of criticism for salivating about Cruz's three 113MPH+ hit baseballs tonight and DiNardo has some words for those people. It was also another display of why Rodolfo Castro has been so darn intriguing recently. The tools have been screaming during his latest stretch which now question if things are slowly starting to come together for him? DiNardo talks through if the extremely athletic and talented middle infield of Cruz and Castro could be for 2023.Lastly, Wil Crowe took the loss in today's game and did not look effective. Regardless of all those stats and numbers to tell you that Crowe isn't a good pitcher, I'm here to tell you just why you should ignore that and not blame Wil for what his end of season numbers are about to look like.
Today was certainly one way to display how not to play baseball. It seemed as if those first two innings were nothing but bad defense and boneheaded mental mistakes. The chemistry between Rodolfo Castro and Kevin Newman seemed visibly off and thats just part of what lead to the 4 runs (3 earned) to Bryse Wilson's lone inning. It's a day that ends in 'y' so we just had to talk a little about Oneil Cruz again. However, it is Rodolfo Castro who gets us really talking. Today game was essentially the embodiment of Rodolfo Castro's season as he not only showed some questionable decisions and defense on the field, but he also went 2-for-4 with a key home run. Oneil may be one of the more exciting players in baseball, but Rodolfo might be the most interesting based on the amount of times he becomes the center of a play.
Join El Parcero Philly as we discuss The Phillies Friday night game against The Pittsburgh Pirates. Friday marked the start of a new series for The Phillies as they would welcome the Bucos into town, with Bryce Harper in the mist of his return to the lineup after his 59 days away to an injury... The offense wasted no time as they would put The Pirates and Bryse Wilson in sticky situations.... They went through the lineup and put up 4 runs in the first... Bailey Falter would have another solid start for The Phils, as he would go 6 deep. This Phils team has the city buzzing! We discuss what went down in tonights game. Check it out! What can words do? Well, since Dennis Eckerlsey called out the Pirates team as being a hodgepodge of nothingness the offense has scored 16 runs in their last three games. Tonight, they not only had 5 runs, but they contributed towards it with 13 total hits. All but one starter had at least one hit, while Kevin Newman, Greg Allen, Bligh Madris, and Ben Gamel each enjoyed a multi-hit game. Though he had a terrible base running blunder that could've cost the lead, Ben Gamel redeemed himself at the plate with 3 total hits as well as a HBP in the 9th. It was Kevin Newman's second hit that gave the Pirates the lead in the 9th and then Michael Chavis' clutch hit vs. a lefty that ultimately won the game.Bryse Wilson did enough to keep the team in the game as he gave up 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 home runs. What am I making out of Bryse Wilson so far? Well you will hear just how he ultimately is opening my eyes ever so slightly.
Why is Roansy Contreras really in the minors? Are some Pirates fans actually rooting against Bryse Wilson? What is Tucupita Marcano's destiny in 2023? We answer all of those questions, laugh about a well-timed picture with Bob Nutting, and get you through the dog days of summer in "30 Minutes of Pirates Talk." Brought to you by ShopYinzz.com! Though we express our concerns of its validity, Bryse Wilson has had a solid string of successful starts since returning to the majors and today's was quite possibly his in a Pirates uniform. He held the Orioles to just 1-run while lasting 6 innings. Something he hasn't done much of this season is miss bats, but today he was also able to strike out 5.Last night we discussed how this offense goes wherever Bryan Reynolds and Oneil Cruz takes them. Funny how just 16 hours later they own us as 7 of the RBI's came from other players. What was nice to see today is Oneil Cruz in the cleanup role, though Tyler suggests maybe a better spot for him. Somehow or another we go down a rabbit hole discussing the better player between Greg Allen, Jarrod Dyson, & Jake Marisnick as well.
What started as an uneventful trade deadline for the Pirates ended up with a com from behind victory over the Brewers. It wasn't a great start for Bryse Wilson as he tossed up 3 home runs before being replaced by newcomer Colin Holderman who was awarded the win. How did Colin look in his Pirates debut? Tyler and Cody discuss their thoughts. The long 408 foot HR by Oneil Cruz was the catalyst to today's comeback and it was ridiculous to see how he was able to get it out of the park. Then again, it seems like we say that almost every time with his effortless swing. Sprinkle in some bad defense and a passed ball and the Pirates didn't look back with their 2-run lead.
Today with the doubleheader, the Pirates split in Cincinnati. Neither game was much offensively. In total, they scored 5 runs on 12 hits. Daniel Vogelbach continues hit hot streak while Michael Chavis looks keeps wrecking havoc on left handed pitching. Both starters today looked very good. Bryse Wilson had his best start of the year while lowering his ERA almost a full run. Roansy may have had his best outing of the year, although that didn't award him his keep in this rotation. Shortly after the game it was announced that he was optioned. Listen as we discuss why there is a true reason to monitor his innings but also what bothers us so much about this decision.
After a game where one reliever threw 56 pitches, Bryse Wilson knew he was going to have to give innings today whether they be good innings or bad. Luckily, they were good. With increased velocity, Wilson went 6 strong innings to earn his first win of the year. Is this the makings of something new for Wilson?A shaky David Bednar came into the 9th to close it out as he walked the first batter on four straight pitches. However, Bednar settled nicely and looked more like his old self as he retired the next three batters.Offensively, this was a solid team performance where everyone chipped in. Oneil Cruz and Michael Chavis each went deep. Outside of the 112 mph laser Cruz put into the stands, there were a few other things that were almost just as impressive we tell you about. Diego Castillo also continues to make his case to keep him on the MLB roster
Bryse Wilson's but one example of Oscar Marin's unending damage to the organization's pitching.
