Week 7 of the NFL season was chaos — comebacks, blowouts, and statement wins everywhere. Matt Brown breaks down every game across the league, from the Chiefs pitching a shutout against the Raiders to the Giants' gut-wrenching collapse in Denver. We cover:
Week 7 delivered pure NFL chaos and Richard Sherman is breaking down every storyline across the league. Sherm and Mitchell dive into the Giants’ historic fourth-quarter collapse, the Denver comeback, and whether Jaxson Dart is the real future in New York before shifting to Indianapolis, where the Colts suddenly look like the AFC’s most complete team behind Daniel “Indiana Jones” and Jonathan Taylor. They react to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs waking up in dominating fashion, Maxx Crosby wasting greatness in Vegas, and the Eagles surviving but still showing major flaws. Sherman also weighs in on Drake May and the Patriots’ resurgence, the Bears quietly stacking wins, and whether Jordan Love can truly lead Green Bay. The conversation heats up as they debate the Micah Parsons trade, question whether the Cowboys really benefited, and then turn to Miami’s meltdown, Tua’s struggles, and how hot Mike McDaniel’s seat now is. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- On Thursday evening, President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address to an estimated audience of 32 million Americans. During the hour-long speech, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) shouted at the president to mention Laken Riley—a 22-year-old nursing student who was recently murdered by an alleged undocumented migrant who had been arrested numerous times. In his response to the congresswoman, Biden mistakenly referred to Riley as “Lincoln” and called her alleged murderer an “illegal.” The “illegal” designation upset many on the far-left who claimed it was an outdated, offensive term for “new comers.” 3:15pm- During an interview with Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC, President Joe Biden expressed regret for using the term “illegal” when referring to Laken Riley's alleged killer. At a campaign rally in Rome, Georgia, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called-out Biden's rebuttal—explaining that that the president should be more concerned about limiting unlawful migration rather than policing the language he uses to describe alleged murderers. 3:35pm- The sports blog Deadspin has fired all its existing staff after being bought by a European publishing company. Last year, Deadspin wrongfully accused a young Kansas City Chiefs fan of wearing blackface and of mocking Native American culture during the Chiefs-Raiders game—strategically angling a posted photo to only show half of the child's face, failing to note that the face paint was black and red (the team's colors), and that the child and his family are Native American. 3:50pm- Flashback: During a speech from 2009, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer continually referred to migrants who enter the country unlawfully as “illegal” and claimed that using terminology like “undocumented workers” shows that government isn't serious about preventing illegal immigration and/or border security. 4:05pm- Robert Bork Jr.—President of the Antitrust Education Project & President of the Bork Communication Group—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his recent editorial in The Wall Street Journal, “ESG, Big Labor and Starbucks.” Bork writes: “The latest comes courtesy of the Strategic Organizing Center, a coalition of unions using a $16,000 investment in Starbucks to push three labor nominees onto the company's 11-member board. All three candidates—former members of the Clinton and Obama administrations—are liberal stalwarts.” Since writing the article, the unions have thankfully backed down. You can read the editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/esg-big-labor-and-starbucks-unions-business-4ac0a85f?mod=opinion_lead_pos8 4:20pm- James Lynch of National Review writes: “House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ohio.) is threatening to escalate his fight against FBI director Christopher Wray if the bureau does not turn over communications related to the Hunter Biden laptop story. Jordan sent a letter to Wray on Monday explaining that the Judiciary Committee may resort to holding the FBI director in contempt of Congress to compel the release of internal communications and the names of key personnel who participated in the bureau's meetings with social-media companies ahead of the 2020 election.” You can read the full report here: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/exclusive-jim-jordan-threatens-to-hold-fbi-director-in-contempt-over-hunter-biden-laptop-story/ 4:35pm- During the 96th annual Academy Awards, Oppenheimer took home seven awards—including Best Picture and Best Director. Despite Oppenheimer's box office success, Rich notes some critics are angry that Barbie didn't win—bizarrely citing its merchandising success. We are all shocked that Oppenheimer, which received a hard R-rating, wasn't more popular with young children. What kid wouldn't want a J. Robert Oppenheimer doll? 4:50pm- Molly Hemingway of The Federalist writes: “Former Rep. Liz Cheney's January 6 Committee suppressed evidence that President Donald Trump pushed for 10,000 National Guard troops to protect the nation's capital, a previously hidden transcript obtained by The Federalist shows. Cheney and her committee falsely claimed they had ‘no evidence' to support Trump officials' claims the White House had communicated its desire for 10,000 National Guard troops. In fact, an early transcribed interview conducted by the committee included precisely that evidence from a key source. The interview, which Cheney attended and personally participated in, was suppressed from public release until now.” You can read the full article here: https://thefederalist.com/2024/03/08/exclusive-liz-cheney-january-6-committee-suppressed-exonerating-evidence-of-trumps-push-for-national-guard/ 5:00pm- Molly Hemingway of The Federalist writes: “Former Rep. Meaning, as you look at inflation year over year, you're adding up those numbers. You're not starting at a zero every year.” 5:20pm- Should TikTok be banned? Last week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee voted 50-0 to advance a bill that would ban TikTok or force ByteDance (TikTok's parent company) to sell the social media platform to an entity removed from Chinese influence. The full House of Representatives is expected to vote on the bill this Wednesday and, according to The Wall Street Journal, it is likely to pass with majority approval. According to reports, President Joe Biden has vowed to sign the bill into law if the bill ultimately passes the House and Senate and arrives at his desk. 5:40pm- The House of Representatives is expected to vote on a bill that would ban TikTok—is this a step too far? Shouldn't individuals be allowed to choose which products they use? Or is the risk of Chinese leadership gaining access to American user data too great to respect individual autonomy and free markets? 6:05pm- Stephen Sorace of Fox News writes: “The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) issued a memo scolding firefighters it says brought ‘discredit' to the department after booing New York Attorney General Letitia James and cheering for former President Trump at a promotion ceremony last week, warning those who took part to protest on their own time, according to a report. Following a New York Post report about the leaked memo, FDNY spokesman Jim Long confirmed to Fox News Digital on Monday morning that chief officers went to firehouses over the weekend to discuss the events of Thursday and speak to the concerns and disappointment with the behavior shown during James' remarks.” You can read the full report here: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fdny-tells-firefighters-protest-your-own-time-booing-ny-ag-letitia-james-cheering-trump-report 6:30pm- On Thursday evening, President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address to an estimated audience of 32 million Americans. During the conversation, Musk reacted to advertisers—like Disney, NBC Universal, Paramount, and Apple—pulling their money from X (the social media platform formally known as Twitter) due to disagreements over content permitted to exist on the platform, explaining: “If someone is going to try to blackmail me with advertising, black mail me with money—go f*** yourself.” He then said, “Hi, Bob!”—referencing Disney CEO Bob Iger who was attending the event. 3:30pm- While speaking with Andrew Ross Sokin, Elon Musk was forced to concede that without advertising dollars, X will go bankrupt and ultimately “be gone.” Though he defiantly told the audience at the 2023 DealBook Summit: “Let the chips fall where they may…What I care about is the reality of goodness not the perception of it. And what I see all over the place is people care about looking good while doing evil. F*** them.” 3:45pm- Chico Harlan, of The Washington Post, documents that although the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is hosting the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) later this week, they are simultaneously “ramping up its oil production capacity like never before.” You can read the full article here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2023/11/21/uae-dubai-cop28-oil-solar/ 3:50pm- In an opinion piece featured in The Wall Street Journal, Bjorn Lomborg—a fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution—writes: “World leaders are gathering in Dubai for another climate conference, which will no doubt yield heady promises along the lines of the 2015 Paris climate agreement to keep the global temperature's rise ‘well below' 2 degrees Celsius and pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5 degrees. But they'd be wiser not to. New research shows how extravagant climate promises are far more wasteful than useful… peer-reviewed paper from MIT economists identifies the cost of holding the temperature's rise below 1.5 degrees as well as that of achieving net zero globally by 2050. The researchers find that these Paris policies would cost 8% to 18% of annual GDP by 2050 and 11% to 13% annually by 2100.” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/net-zero-fails-the-cost-benefit-test-paris-climate-accord-cop28-748ae52d?mod=opinion_lead_pos6 4:05pm- On Thursday, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the weaponization of the federal government. During the hearing, independent journalist Michael Shellenberger testified that the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) violated the First Amendment in 2020 when it actively censored political content on Twitter and Facebook. Shellenberger concluded that the campaign of censorship amounted to election interference—encouraging Congress to dismantle government organizations whose actions were violative of the Constitution. 4:25pm- Rich yells at Henry for using the Red Hot Chili Peppers as return music. Plus, the Philadelphia Eagles' week 15 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks will now take place on Monday, December 18th. It's the first time the NFL has ever used flex scheduling for a Monday Night Football game. 4:40pm- Earlier this week, the sports blog Deadspin wrongfully accused a young Kansas City Chiefs fan of wearing blackface and of mocking Native American culture during the Chiefs-Raiders game on Sunday—angling the photo to only show half of the child's face and failing to note that the face paint was black and red, the team's colors. The social media platform X added a Community Notes correction to Deadspin's original, inaccurate, post. Even Elon Musk felt compelled to set the record straight, praising Community Notes for “exposing deception.” It was later revealed that Holden Armenta, the child unjustly targeted by Deadspin, is Native American. Phillips, the individual responsible for the inaccurate article smearing a young Kansas City Chiefs fan, has a history of making controversial statements. 5:05pm- Former Republican Nominee for Governor of Michigan Tudor Dixon joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Governor Gretchen Whitmer's (D-MI) new, extreme green energy mandates. The bill, which she signed into law on Tuesday, requires utility companies in Michigan to generate 100% of their energy through renewable sources by 2040. You can listen to The Tudor Dixon Podcast here: https://www.tudordixon.com 5:20pm- On Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris spoke with New York Times financial columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin at the 2023 DealBook Summit in New York City where she baselessly insisted that “Russia interfered in the 2016 election.” Isn't former President Donald Trump currently being criminally prosecuted for questioning the validity of the 2020 election? There appears to be a massive prosecutorial double standard. 5:35pm- Anders Hagstorm of Fox News writes: “A New York appeals court reinstated a gag order preventing former President Donald Trump from maligning court staffers on Thursday. New York Judge Arthur Engoron had initially issued the gag order in early October after Trump lashed out at one of his law clerks on social media. Trump is currently fighting accusations of business fraud leveled by New York Attorney General Letitia James.” You can read the full article here: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/appeals-court-reinstates-gag-order-trump-fraud-case 5:40pm- While appearing on the Patrick Bet-David podcast, News Nation host Chris Cuomo said he would be open to voting for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. 6:05pm- According to a report from WCVB Boston, Harvard University will offer a for-credit course centered around the music of Taylor Swift—300 students have already enrolled in the class. 6:15pm- Snejana Farberov of The New York Post writes: “A veteran Ohio criminal defense attorney has been suspended for pooping in a Pringles can that he then dumped outside a victim advocacy center—admitting he regularly pulled such stinky stunts to ‘blow off steam.' Jack Blakeslee's stomach-churning habit emerged as he was suspended from practicing law for a year, with six months stayed, in a 13-page state Supreme Court opinion.” You can read the full article here: https://nypost.com/2023/11/30/news/lawyer-suspended-for-dumping-poop-filled-pringles-can/ 6:30pm- The Associated Press writes that there has been a concerning “surge in respiratory illnesses across China that has drawn the attention of the World Health Organization.” China's health ministry has claimed the uptick “is caused by the flu and other known pathogens and not by a novel virus.” You can read more here: https://www.politico.com/news/2023/11/26/china-respiratory-illnesses-cause-flu-pathogens-00128637 6:40pm- In his latest article, Sean Trende of Real Clear Politics argues that not only can Donald Trump win the 2024 presidential election, but that he should be favored to win. Trende writes: “Trump leads Biden by 2.6 percentage points nationally in the RealClearPolitics Average. This is Trump's largest lead in the RCP average to date. Not for 2024, mind you. Ever.” You can read the full article here: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2023/11/28/no_really_biden_is_in_trouble_against_trump.html
