In this episode Dr Clark continues in the book of 1 Corintians, discussing chapter 12. Dr. clark shows us that Paul is writing to unite the body in Corinth because divisions were froming in the congregation due to spiritual immaturity and those divisions were being capitolized on by the hyper-apostles. Now is the day of salvation!
Opening our eyes to Christian marriage and faithfulness, along with being faithful in all walks of life.
Lots of people devote their whole lives searching for happiness, yet happiness seems more elusive than ever. That is undoubtedly due to the fact folks are looking in the wrong places. So, how does one find lasting happiness? By realizing the fact that happiness was never intended to be our primary goal; rather, it's a fringe benefit to a life well-lived. Find and fulfill the ultimate purpose for which you've been put on this planet, and you'll find true happiness as well. The six tips I'm sharing this week on Loving Life at Home can help you identify that purpose and work toward it with intentionality. Show Notes SCRIPTURES CITED: - "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." - Philippians 4:11 - "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance." - James 1:2-3 - "But godliness with contentment is great gain." - 1 Timothy 6:6 - “The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” - Psalm 28:7 - “For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” - Zephaniah 3:17 - “Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in his salvation.” - Psalm 35:9 - “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” - John 10:10 - "Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31 - “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7 - “…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” - Ephesians 5:18-20 - “O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD, let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.” - Psalm 95:1-2 - “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations..” - Psalm 100:4-5 - “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” - Philippians 4:8 - “For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth).” - Ephesians 5:8-9 - “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” - Galatians 5:22-23 - “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 - “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” – Hebrews 12:1-2 - “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” - Mark 11:25 - “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” - Ephesians 4:31-32 - “So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.” - Colossians 3:12-14 - “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.” - Matthew 6:14-15 - “Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing.” - Psalm 100:2 - "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters…” - Colossians 3:23 - “…serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'" - Galatians 5:13-14 - “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.” - 1 Peter 4:10 - “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.” - Galatians 6:9-10 - “…one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 3:13-14 - “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” - James 1:12 - “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.” - 1 Corintians 9:24-27 RELATED LINKS: - Free Printable Thank You Notes - several different styles to choose from - My Empty Nest/ Do It Now Lists - freepretty printable templates for you to download - World Magazine - biweekly news magazine presents current events from a Christian worldview - World Watch News - a daily, 10-minute summary of current world events (geared toward kids) - LL #11: Freely Forgive Others - how to let go of past hurts so they don't rob you of joy today STAY CONNECTED: - Subscribe: Flanders Family Freebies -(weekly themed link lists of free resources) - Instagram: follow @flanders_family for more great content - Family Blog: Flanders Family Home Life (parenting tips, homeschool help, lots of free printables!) - Marriage Blog: Loving Life at Home (encouragement in your roles as wife, mother, believer)
2 Corinthians 8:1–15 Encouragement to Give Generously [1] We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, [2] for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. [3] For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, [4] begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints—[5] and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us. [6] Accordingly, we urged Titus that as he had started, so he should complete among you this act of grace. [7] But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also. [8] I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. [9] For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. [10] And in this matter I give my judgment: this benefits you, who a year ago started not only to do this work but also to desire to do it. [11] So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have. [12] For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. [13] For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness [14] your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. [15] As it is written, “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.” (ESV) 2 Corinthians 9 [1] Now it is superfluous for me to write to you about the ministry for the saints, [2] for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the people of Macedonia, saying that Achaia has been ready since last year. And your zeal has stirred up most of them. [3] But I am sending the brothers so that our boasting about you may not prove empty in this matter, so that you may be ready, as I said you would be. [4] Otherwise, if some Macedonians come with me and find that you are not ready, we would be humiliated—to say nothing of you—for being so confident. [5] So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised, so that it may be ready as a willing gift, not as an exaction. The Cheerful Giver [6] The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. [7] Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. [8] And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. [9] As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” [10] He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. [11] You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. [12] For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. [13] By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, [14] while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. [15] Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift! (ESV)
Güzel yurdumdan bir örnekle başlayayım. Siz şimdi, Süper Lig'in zirvesinden, yarışından bahsedeceğimi zannetseniz de yok öyle değil. Konumuz 3. Geçin be kardeşim.
Joshua Boyd In our final message on discipleship, we are addressing perhaps the greatest requirement of it. In our discipleship learning journey, we've seen that discipleship involves preparing for growth, planting the seeds—both actions on our part. Then comes growth with God giving the increase of the seed planting. When you show results, fruit, that is when you are a disciple. Being a disciple means being consistent. Abiding. Spending time. Disciples will suffer persecution. The world doesn't always like it when light comes. They don't want everything they are doing to be seen. You will be opposed at some point. All those who live Godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. This overview of discipleship, from start to maturity, doesn't happen though if one key component is missing. Connection. Primarily, we stay connected to the Father by abiding or remaining with Him. We did touch on that.Today though I want to highlight the importance of staying connected to the right people. Let me emphasize I am not talking about being a disciple of anyone other than Jesus Christ. Our loyalty is to the Father, our growth comes from the Father and we should always be pointing people to the Father. But it takes people to plant seeds, water and reap the harvest. Who are you connected to? Paul admonished the church in Corinth to1 Corintians 11:1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
The message of the gospel isn't something everyone is ready to hear. What makes the difference? It isn't superior education or being more spiritual than anyone else, but it's the Spirit at work, and the Church working with the Spirit. This is the secret to making human hearts ready to receive what God has to offer.

Journey welcomed 2023 with a unique gathering last Sunday. Instead of the typical rows of seats arranged to listen to a pastor's message, we welcomed people to tables set for breakfast and conversation. If you want to know the vision of Journey, that's it: We seek to be a community where all are welcome, hospitality is extended and we know each other deeply as we seek to know Jesus together. On this special episode JourneyNOW host Kevin Dixon welcomes Mike Erre and Suzie Lind to talk more about Journey's vision. A listener asks how our belief that "all are welcome at the table" squares with 1 Corintians 5:11, in which Paul warns a church not to "associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[fn] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people." So, which is it? Are we all welcome or not? - - - Got your own question for JourneyNOW? The point is this: whoever sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. 7 Let each one give as he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion—for God loves a cheerful giver. [b] 8 And God is able to make all grace overflow to you, so that by always having enough of everything, you may overflow in every good work. 9 As it is written,“He scattered widely, He gave to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” Now the One who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in everything for all generosity, which through us brings about thanksgiving to God.- 2 Corintians 9:6-10

In 1st Corinthians 15:17-19, the apostle Paul picks up on a previous thread saying, "If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile. You are still in your sins. Also, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, where of all men the most to be pitied?" 1st Corinthians 15:20 starts with a conjunction of contrast -- "But." In contrast to being the most pitiable, in contrast to having hope only in this life. "But now Christ is risen from the dead and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep." He says in verse 22 four, "As in Adam, all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." God only divides the human race into two people during this current age -- you're either in Christ or you're in Adam. 1st Corinthians 15:23 is critical. He's talking about resurrection -- the resurrection of Christ, first and foremost. But then he's also talking about the resurrection of the dead, including people all the way backin the Old Testament. God has a plan for the resurrection of every believer, from every age, from every dispensation, all the way through history. But His plan is orderly, so he says in 1Co 15:23, "But each in his own order." The word "order" in Greek is "tagma" which means to be in rank. Each in his own ranks. It pictures the formation of an army, according to battalions or according to platoons, or however you're going to break it down. Jesus Christ is first. Though there were people that were raised from the dead before His resurrection, that was resuscitation. 1Co 15:23 says, "Christ, the first fruits, afterwards, those who were Christ at His coming." His coming has two phases: 1) the rapture -- for us, 2) the 2nd advent -- for Old Testament and tribulation saints. 1st Corintians 15:23 continues, "then comes the end when He delivers the Kingdom to the Father." At the end of the kingdom age or Millennium, the thousand year reign of Christ on this earth, there has to be a resurrection. Because you have believers who are being born, people who are being born on the earth for a thousand years. The Bible tells us that an infant will die at the age of 100. People are going to enter into the kingdom from the tribulation, and live all the way through the kingdom. They're going to be people in the kingdom still in a flesh and blood body and there has to be a resurrection for them. The final resurrection comes at the end when Christ takes the kingdom and delivers the kingdom to His father. What Paul has given us in a couple of verses is an overview of resurrection. In order each in his ranks, and it fits perfectly with a dispensation approach to Scripture.
Ellen White admonished us to spend an hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ, especially the closing scenes. (See Desire of Ages, p. 83) Now, we know that God has instituted rituals and symbols to remind us of His crucifixion and death so the truth about Him does not slip from our minds. One such ritual that almost all SDAs partake in is the communion service. But only coming once a quarter, it hardly fulfills the purpose of keeping the truth of Jesus from slipping our minds between services. Ellen also said, "The light shining from that Communion service in the upper chamber makes sacred the provisions for our daily life. The family board becomes as the table of the Lord, and every meal a sacrament." The Desire of Ages, p. 660. We know from the New Testament that the early disciples of Christ broke bread daily from house to house. They ate their food and praised God at these home meals (Acts 2:46-47). Ellen White wrote, "The Scriptural Ordinance of The Lord's Supper had been supplanted by the idolatrous sacrifice of the mass." The Story of Redemption, p. 334 Mass took the Lord's supper from the family board, or table, where every home meal is to be a sacrament, to the church altar instead. The emblems became part of a "mock meal" so to speak. Again, this is certainly not the scene we see in scripture, with Jesus, at the Passover meal, reclining with his disciples around a table, and taking his bread and sopping it in a dish, probably of oil, to give to his friends. (See John 13:21-30). In this study, we look closely at the admonition of Christ as recorded in the gospels and 1 Corintians to see if we are following his words in the way that he intended. Was the communion service ever intended to be a church service as a mock meal? Or did Jesus intend the daily bread and drink from the home table to be the perfect symbol of his body and blood - representing his nourishing words of life - to be taken frequently to keep his sacrifice fresh in our memory? This week, Nathan and Derek discuss the reality that worship is a normative reality of human experience. Basically for real humans who don't talk like that, it's something we do… a lot. The question ceases to be whether or not we worship, but what the things we worship are. We look at the biblical narrative to determine where worship is seen in the scriptures, and how they have changed over time. Other topics include, but are not limited to: Nathan's first “speaking in tongues” experience (?) Worshipping the Dallas Cowboys (ick, I know) Cletus and Harry; heroes or heretics? The surprising place that Nathan is (actually) from Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development Referenced in the show are these Scriptures/Visuals: Worship Concentric Circles Genesis 1:28-30; 3:6-13, 22 Isaiah 1 Matthew 15:8-9 1 Timothy 2:5 Colossians 3:16-17 2 Corintians 5:17 Matthew 5:1-12 Acts 2:42-47 John 3:30
