Whether you want to take better photos in your everyday life or make a full-time income as a photographer, maybe even working in the music business shooting concerts and album covers, the five-part framework author David Molnar teaches in “Learning to See” will work for you:See: have a vision for your shot and execute that visionShoot: become technically proficient with your cameraEdit: help re-create the emotion from the day of the shootDevelop: identify your area of focus for photographyEarn: start getting paid for your artIt's a proven process every photographer follows but few talk about. But if you use it, it will shave years off the learning curve Dave himself went through as an amateur photographer. This book teaches readers to learn to see, because in the end, that's what a photographer does: notice what other people often miss and understand how to capture those things in a masterful way.David Molnar is a celebrity and advertising photographer, believer, and family man. David Molnar of HighTower San Diego says that investors and advisory clients need to evaluate results based on progress toward goals rather than being focused primarily on investment returns. Focus solely on results, Molnar says, and you will miss out on the true planning and control benefits that come from planning, and that lead clients with advisers ultimately to have superior performance to do-it-yourself investors.
Mary Ellen Stanek of Baird Funds notes that in the 11th year of an economic expansion, investors should be cautious, but she says the excesses that typically come late in an economic cycle are not there, so investors should keep their seatbelts on, should make sure they are being paid to take on risk and are otherwise moving forward cautiously into 2020 and beyond. Also on the show, Chuck chats with David Molnar from HighTower San Diego about how investors should properly evaluate an adviser's performance, discusses the ways in which President Trump's tweets have been moving the market with Francesca Ortegren of Clever Real Estate, and we revisit a recent Market Call chat with Charlie Bobrinskoy of Ariel Investments.
