This week, we discuss not ONE, but TWO, Sony State of Plays! First, we delve into all of the new info about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Nolan gives us his thoughts after playing through the brand new demo! After that, Brad takes another journey into the wackly world of Yakuza with Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and to nobody's surprise, he loves it. In the second half, Nick finally broaches the subject of Konami's handling of the Silent Hill revival after having a few days to contemplate. It's a complex subject given the breadth of projects in development versus the games we have actually played but he does his best. Of course, this includes his thoughts on Silent Hill: The Short Message, a free 2-hour experience that seems dead-set on artificially re-creating P.T... spoiler alert, that was probably a bad idea. I start off with some quick impressions of We Love Katamari REROLL, but then go into the Final Fantasy XVI demo. Note that there are some themes regarding some of the characters that some people may not like to witness, which has turned some corners of the internet off from the game. Microsoft has announced they will no longer be making first party games for the Xbox One, but some developers want them to also get rid of the Xbox Series S requirement as well. Embracer Group is downsizing after a large deal fell through - after acquiring many companies, they will now shutter many of them and cancel unannounced projects. Then we talk to Rob about Final Fantasy XVI.

Although there are still some showcases left to come, the major ones from Summer Game Fest have all aired by this point. Sean is joined by Jeff Young of Analog Stick Gaming (https://www.analogstickgaming.com/) in a last-minute save situation to discuss and grade the Not E3 showcases. This will include the Summer Game Fest Kickoff, Xbox Showcase, Ubisoft Forward, Capcom Showcase, and a few of the indie ones as well. Don't worry, these aren't complete breakdowns of what was shown, more of like a Greatest Hits version of them. In discussing each showcase, the duo also discusses some of their favorite reveals, games they are looking forward to, and what lies ahead for them for the rest of 2023. Summer Game Fest also led to some demo releases as well, namely Lies of P and Final Fantasy XVI. Sean and Jeff discuss both of these and how they feel after playing both games. Are they more hyped or less hyped for both titles? This episode was originally recorded on 04/25/23. Apologies I'm putting it out late on the audio side. I (Sean) had to work a lot this last week... Well, it has officially begun the gaming calendar is getting clustered again and it will remain that way for the foreseeable future as major heavy hitters release alongside indie darlings, and at times, even all on the same day. Dead Island 2 is the first of those, and the long-delayed game has actually seen impressive sales numbers in its first few days and encouraging reviews as well. Can it revitalize the franchise and spawn more sequels out of its early success? Also, another big game releasing soon has a demo, Street Fighter 6, and Marc played it. Marc gives his thoughts on its content and if it leaves him encouraged for the game's release on June 2. Diablo IV is also getting one final beta May 12-14, (which wouldn't you know it, is when Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases). Horizon Forbidden West not only just released its Forbidden Shores DLC, but it also added accessibility options to the base game too. Guerrilla also confirmed the existence of Horizon 3. Oh, and Sony acquired yet another studio too. Records are broken again for the Super Mario Bros. Movie, while Shigeru Miyamoto basically confirms that more Nintendo films are coming down the line. Nintendo also had an Indie World showcase and Sean goes through some favorites he has from the digital event as well. You can also watch this episode on video via the W2M Network Youtube channel. My impressions of the newly released RE4 remake demo
Sean and Marc are back with a two-part episode of Video Games 2 the MAX. On Part 2, Sean's been playing the newly released DEMO for the upcoming Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line. How does the former handheld-only Final Fantasy Music game translate to TV-based consoles? Has anything changed with the gameplay in the transition? And is it still just as fun as the previous games? Marc has played about 15 hours of Forspoken and he has some thoughts. Is the cool parkour and magic powers enough to overcome some of the other game's faults? The guys also discuss if PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox not being at E3 2023 is the final downfall of the convention. Can it survive without them? Or should everyone just be ready for the Geoff Keighley Summer Game Fest to be the new ruler of them all? Plus, Amazon is planning a whole universe with the Tomb Raider property. A whole lot of multiplayer games are shutting down soon. Time to live the live of a cool kid. This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill react to some breaking Nintendo news, review a lackluster collection, and gush about a promising retro revival. First up, it's time to break down some of the latest and greatest reveals in the world of the Big N–namely, the announcement of a new OLED model special edition and the reveal of an over-the-top LEGO Bowser that might just be the best thing released this year, in general. But then, of course, we can't stay positive for long–it's Klonoa time. Next up, Marc reviews the underwhelming package that is Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series–a collection of two cult-classic Klonoa platformers that may just sport the worst title of a game in recent memory. While this package introduces a few enhancements like HD graphics, it hardly celebrates the franchise the way fans have been wanting, and its additions are barely enough to ease newcomers into this long-running series. But not all hope is lost–for the final segment, the hosts share their thoughts on the recent free demo of Live a Live. This title is not only a remake of a beloved (former Japan-exclusive) Square RPG from 1994, but it is also one of the best showcases of the HD2D art style yet. The demo showcases the game's unique nonlinear storytelling and distinctive art style, so it's safe to say that the gang is already hooked ahead of the game's full release later this month. So Josh and Stoy partnered up with NUTAKU and developers Candy Valley Network to talk about pornographic video games, in specific Wild Life, a video game that has your character Max crash land on an alien planet, and the only thing to do after you get out of your ship is to start banging the locals. This game is also equipped with a Bluetooth sex toy that is COMPLETELY interactive with the game. So out of the many sexual encounters you find yourself in, you can feel every motion. We talk about our experiences with the demo and the toy also. Wow, what an episode. Thanks for listening! Tokyo Game Show 2021 has come and gone and there was a load of stuff to talk about following the press conference and subsequent live streams. Throughout this episode discussions revolve around all of the games shown off during the conference (Triangle Strategy, Dungeon Encounters, Voice of Cards, etc.) and there's a more detailed talk about Stranger of Paradise and general thoughts about Square Enix's output in recent times, especially from the Western arm of the business.
Another ambitious fan project has been shut down by Nintendo, this time it was "Metroid Prime 2D" a game that sought to take the Gamecube game and reimagine it in the style of a classic 2D Metroid. This prompted the question, "Is Nintendo Too Aggressive when it comes to fan-made games?" We debate their track record, look at how other companies have dealt with similar issues, and read your thoughts! We hope your interest in Resident Evil Village goes beyond the tall woman with the pale face, because we're going deep on the next big game of 2021, on this week's episode of The Weekspot. The latest Resident Evil Showcase was always going to dominate this week's Headlines & Hot Takes. Firstly, we chat about the Mercenaries comeback and how we think that'll play out in the upcoming Resi. Also, Matthew's played the first half of the demo that PC players will get to play in two weeks time, and he has some thoughts. As well as that, we discuss the Mass Effect Legendary Edition trailer that split the crowd. And this week's Tech Corner revolves around the creepiest webcam you'll ever come across. Matthew's been taken back to simpler times by playing the recently released Shadow Man Remaster for Show And Tell. He's also had a go on that Darkside Detective: A Fumble In The Dark and has come away quite pleased. Meanwhile, Colm enjoyed his time watering people from the sky in Rain On Your Parade. His three hours with Don't Forget Me weren't quite as fun, sadly. This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about critically acclaimed belters. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on novels that should be video games and the most annoying things we've lost.
