Emily McKinney and her boyfriend, Joe Johnson, are accused of lying to Kentucky State Police troopers about a dog attacking Emily's 10-month-old child. A pitbull launched itself from a moving vehicle and stormed into an Auckland jewellery store, injuring an employee during the incident. Auckland Council confirmed the owner was given an infringement notice and education on dog control after the attack. Stacey Penn says the punishment for the owner 'wasn't fair' and further consequences are needed. Farmers and rural pet owners are once again being urged to take control of their dogs following a vicious attack in East Clare. It follows an incident in O'Callaghan's Mills in which a number of sheep suffered serious injuries. The dog responsible is yet to be identified and owners in the area are requested to be extra vigilant. Clare County Dog Warden Frankie Coote says it was an extremely distressing incident.
Clare's County Dog Warden is urging dog owners to control their pets following a violent incident in Kilrush this week. It's understood a labrador-greygound cross attacked and killed a smaller dog while biting a woman who attempted to rescue her pet. The attacking dog has since been destroyed and Gardaí are believed to be investigating the incident. Frankie Coote insists the only ways to exercise control over a dog are to keep it at home or to have it on a lead.

An elderly person has been hospitalised with serious injuries following an attack by a German Shepherd in Newmarket on Fergus. The Clare County Dog Warden has confirmed the person suffered multiple bites causing extensive damage which may require surgery. In a separate incident in Newmarket, a young girl was injured when also bitten by a German Shepherd, while a woman walking on the grounds of the University of Limerick suffered bites from a brown Bull Terrier. Frankie Coote says the Bull Terrier in question is still not contained and is advising people to exercise caution on the Clare side of the campus and contact him with information on any sightings.
