Send us a textIn this episode, I sit down with Dympna Little, the brilliantly sharp and darkly hilarious voice behind some of social media's most honest conversations about grief, cancer, and humour as a coping mechanism. Dympna shares her mother's battle with peritoneal cancer, highlighting the repeated misdiagnoses that delayed treatment and the raw realities of navigating end-of-life care. She also challenges common narratives around loss, discussing why being present for a loved one's final moments isn't always the peaceful experience people imagine. We also dive into her fight to reform Ireland's cancer wig grant system, exposing how some providers overcharge women for low-quality wigs and why she's campaigning to have the grant paid directly to patients. Dympna reflects on how making comedy videos to cheer up her mother during treatment became the foundation of her social media success, and why she believes we should all trust our instincts when it comes to health. This conversation is a rollercoaster of emotions—raw, real, and unexpectedly funny. Tune in for an episode that will challenge how you think about grief, loss, and the power of humour in the darkest times. This episode is brought to you by fabÜ SKIN-HAIR-NAILS GLOW, the supplement I created for strong, healthy, and radiant beauty from within. In this episode, I, your host, Dr. Tomi Mitchell, had the pleasure of interviewing the amazing Dr. Dympna WeilBiography:Dr. Dympna Weil, MD is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist with a long-standing interest in physician wellness, most recently in clinical practice as an OBGYN Hospitalist, with experience in academics and private practice as well.In the Fall of 2020, a constellation of symptoms presented and forced her into stillness. It took over nine months to receive a diagnosis of vestibular migraine and PPPD. During this time, Dympna, now a patient and unable to care for others, had to learn to care for herself. This forced stillness allowed for precious healing and Dympna deepened her self-care with the intention of sharing this with other physicians in need when she trained and certified as a Martha Beck Life Coach. Now as the founder of The Physician Wayfinder, Dympna seeks to help other doctors navigate burnout, change, and whatever roadblocks keep them from living their purpose.Contact Information:Facebook@PhysicianWayfinderLinkedIn:linkedin.com/in/dympna-weil-19a6984Website:www.physicianwayfinder.com

Dympna Kennedy shares why listening is the best thing to do. The mother, author, entrepreneur and child psychology expert has a simple and reassuring approach to parenting: parents need to listen to their children, rather than simply telling them what and what not to do at every moment. On a recent episode of Communicator, Dympna and I met to chat about how traditional, authoritative parenting styles are leading to generations of adults that are stressed, have trouble connecting and continue to perpetuate an unhealthy parenting style.Dympna is the founder of Creating Balance, an organisation that for more than 18 years has been at the forefront of promoting mindful, emotionally intelligent parenting. In addition to being a certified Circle of Security Parent Educator, founder of the SSSIB Parenting Program, and having a host of other qualifications, she is an incredibly gifted and devoted early childhood expert. In this episode, Dympna and I delve into some of the profound insights that are changing the way parents treat their children. We also get into the following:Why 1 in 4 babies has notable mental health issues before their first birthdayHow to be both a friend and protector for your childrenWhy every parent already knows how to make their children calm and happyA newer, more intelligent definition of “respect”How the way an adult treats children is indicative of their own childhoodThe four key personality traits of a good parentHow to curb attention-seeking behaviour in childrenWhy too many adults are “fairweather parents” Links:Dympna Kennedy - LinkedInCreating Balance

Fully Booked Without Burnout - The Business Of Massage And Wellness
Dympna Kennedy from Creating Balance works with new mums and dads to help them transition into their new life as parents, and she achieves this through workshops, training and presenting at conferences. Starting as a remedial massage therapist, Dympna discovered the power of infant massage when she had her own kids. The journey progressed from there into early childhood education, baby yoga, and other ways to help new parents interact with their babies. Listen in as Dympna shares her journey of massage through to creating workshops and training childcare workers. There’s challenges along the way as we discuss pricing, marketing and building yourself up as an expert.
One of the most interesting things that can happen when you are over 50 is the arrival of Grandchildren. For many of us it is a new and different experience as we revisit all of the things we learned as young mothers. Dympna Kennedy works with new mothers, and fathers in the first 12 months of the babies’ life. In particular women who have had a high flying corporate career or executive position where everything has always turned out just right. As we all know a new baby is not at all like that and it can be a pretty hair raising journey as you learn all about your new little person. Dympna also works with the extended family and that more often than not involves Grandparents which is why she is talking with us all about how to be a great Grandmother. Dympna takes us through some of the science of new babies and their brain development to explain why they behave as they do. She also talks about how to help and how to be a part of making sure a new baby feels safe and loved.
