This time with 8 hours of white noise sounds! While playing white noise for babies, it's important to keep tabs on the volume, because any white noise machine, smartphone, or computer can put out levels that are too loud for your child. It's recommended to play the sound at least a few feet from where your infant is sleeping and to keep the volume no louder than the sound of a soft shower. Parents can download an app to turn their smartphone into a sound level meter. One good, free, option is the sound level meter app created by the U.S. National Institutes for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) available on the app store as the NIOSH SLM app. Here are some great products to help you sleep! Send us a textHas navigating the world of parenting introduced a whole new set of challenges for you and your partner? If so, you're not alone. Today, we dive into an insightful conversation with Rhona Berens, a professional certified coach and co-author of the book *"Fight Right for Your Baby"*. This comprehensive guide is designed to help expecting and new parents shift from conflict to connection, an essential aspect of co-parenting that is often underestimated.Becoming a parent inevitably places stress on relationships. Rhona and her wife experienced firsthand the shock of how parenting impacted their relationship. Rhona's journey emphasized the importance of creating a "designed partnership alliance" to navigate the often tumultuous transition from being a couple to being parents. One of the key topics discussed was the concept of fighting right versus fighting wrong. Rhona explained that fighting wrong involves unskillful, unproductive ways of disagreeing that pull couples apart. Drawing from John Gottman's research, she explains the four toxic communication styles: contempt, defensiveness, criticism, and stonewalling. 1. Contempt: Disrespectful communication including condescension, sarcasm, and eye-rolling.2. Defensiveness: Reacting with a chip on your shoulder, refusing to see your part in the conflict.3. Criticism: Blaming and nagging that turns issues into personal attacks.4. Stonewalling: Becoming uncommunicative, walking away, or avoiding the conflict entirely.Rhona emphasized the importance of becoming aware of these behaviors and working towards changing unproductive patterns. She encourages couples to recognize the impact of their communication on their children and to make a conscious effort to model healthier interaction.Fighting is normal. It's not about never fighting but about how you fight and, more importantly, how you repair and reconnect after a conflict. Small moments of reconnection—like affirming words, a hug, or simply holding hands—can make a significant difference in maintaining a positive relationship dynamic in front of your children. For parents approaching this monumental life change, Rhona's insights and the tools in her book can serve as a valuable resource to navigate the complexities of new parenthood while maintaining a healthy, connected relationship with your partner. We talk about:00:00 Intro01:25 Rhona's Personal Journey to Becoming a Coach04:30 The Impact of Parenting on Relationships10:31 The Book: Fight Right for Your Baby17:26 Understanding and Addressing Conflict in Relationships35:35 Tips for New and Expecting ParentsConnect with RhonaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/FightRightBooks/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rhonaberens/ www.rhonaberens.com www.fightrightbooks.com https://rhonaberens.com/resources/ https://rhonaberens.com/changing-habits/ Connect with meInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/wholebundle/https://thewholebundle.com/

During labor, you want contractions that are longer, stronger, and closer together. But why? Dr. Sarah Buckley and Adriana take a deep dive into the amazing and fascinating hormonal dance that happens during the birthing process, and how interventions such as synthetic oxytocin or an epidural can lead to a cascade of interventions that negatively impact the process for both the birthing person and their baby. They also talk about ways to support the physiology of birth (regardless of what path it takes) in order to help fill any ‘hormonal gaps' that may occur.Sponsor offers - TIME SENSITIVE! NEEDED - Get 20% off at ThisIsNeeded.com with code BIRTHFULHONEYLOVE - Get 20% off at HoneyLove.com/Birthful JENNI KAYNE - Get 15% off at JenniKayne.com/Birthful with code BIRTHFUL15ONESKIN - Get 15% off at https://www.OneSkin.co/ with code BIRTHFULFAMILYALBUM APP - Download the app for free, wherever you get your apps! MY LIFE IN A BOOK - Get 10% off at MyLifeInABook.com with code BIRTHFULAQUATRU - Get 20% off at AquaTru.com with code BIRTHFULGet the most out of this episode by checking out the resources, transcript, and links listed on its show notes page.  If you liked this episode, listen to our interview on Your Baby, The Mammal and our episode on How to Avoid a "Cascade of Interventions".You can connect with Sarah on Facebook at drsarahbuckley. The Birthful Podcast | Talking with Pregnancy, Birth, Breastfeeding, Postpartum & Parenting Pros to Inform Your Intuition

We try to make birth practical by measuring, overseeing, and monitoring it… when really, it's an experience that flows seamlessly from one stage to another, taking the birthing person deep into their physiology and intuitive altered states. Whapio Diane Bartlett shares with Adriana how to better describe what the laboring person goes through, by explaining the Holistic Stages of Birth. In this first episode of a two-part series, we start with embarking into labor, and just past what is usually considered as transition. In Part Two, we move through the Quietude phase, all the way to the birth of the baby, the magic that happens in the first moments, and the weaving of the story that goes on forever. This is Part 2 of White Noise for Your Baby! In part 2, all the stars cuddle up with Dad and get ready for a great night of sleep! This time with 8 Hours of womb sounds! Be on the lookout for part 3!
