In today's episode, I'm talking about a lesson from Ted Lasso on healing and holding two things at once. As humans, we REALLY struggle with duality in our culture. We've been conditioned to think that everything is either/or and not ever both/and. It's crucial that you don't suppress your emotions, even when they feel uncomfortable. Those suppressed emotions won't just magically disappear! One of my favorite ways to work through this is using the “f- you and thank you" exercise. It's been incredibly helpful for me, and I have a feeling it will be for you, too!If you're ready to learn more about this exercise and other tools OR you need someone to walk with you on your healing journey, I would love to support you in this way. You can join me and other amazing women in rural America in my 1:1 Good Movement Guidance - we're all healing and learning together! In this episode, I cover:Why humans struggle with duality in our culture - especially with emotionsUnderstanding that suppressed emotions don't just disappearPersonal examples of how I've felt both "f- you" and "thank you" emotionsHow to use the "f- you and thank you" exercise in your own life Make sure to hit subscribe/follow so you never miss an episode! Happy Satiated Saturday! Have you ever noticed that the strongest memories are the ones where you felt the most presence and embodiment? I will never forget my first yoga class because when I was shaking while holding a plank, I couldn't be anywhere else but in my body. At the beginning of your eating recovery, you may feel disconnected and dissociated. Your body has felt like an unsafe place to inhabit. Food has served as a wise strategy to create distance from your body or a micro-moment of feeling alive. Creating safety with food is less about food and more about expanding your capacity to be in your body while you eat, feel, and live. Embodiment is often the missing piece in healing your food coping mechanisms. In this week's episode, I chat with Ann Saffi Biasetti, Transpersonal Psychologist and Eating Disorder Expert, about: What embodiment isThe importance of creating safe and comfortable embodying experiencesThe process of embodimentCreating a language for describing body sensations and emotionsHow embodiment can impact food behaviorsWhat the ongoing journey of embodiment looks likeYou can also read the transcript to this week's episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/embodiment-in-eating-recoveryThe next Somatic Eating® Program starts on May 22nd. In today's episode, I'm talking about extending grace without accepting behavior. It's a universal truth that everyone has a reason for their actions - there is ALWAYS a why behind a behavior. Even when we don't know the whole truth (and we may never), we can choose to extend more grace. My challenge for you is to look for that story that you might have missed. Send us a textIn this conversation, Dr. Pierre Azzam discusses the intersection of mental health and professional coaching, particularly focusing on the experiences of fathers. He highlights the stigma surrounding mental health for men and the importance of understanding postpartum depression in fathers. The conversation emphasizes the need for compassionate communication and support for men experiencing mental health challenges, especially during the transition to fatherhood. We tackle the sensitive subject of postpartum depression in men, shattering the misconceptions that it only affects women. Men may manifest this condition through anger, isolation, or even numbness, and we need to increase awareness and support for them. The discussion wraps up by redefining resilience—not as a single trait but as a set of attributes that include courage, agency, and purpose. By modeling these for children and understanding the role of connection in mental health, we strive to promote a healthier, more inclusive approach to emotional well-being for fathers and families alike.Follow BraverMan and Dr. Azzam's work:https://www.bravermancoaching.com/Follow him on Instagram: @braver.manListen to similar podcast episodes:The science of happinessThe power of community for dadsEmpowering dads to express emotionsHow my grandpa taught me resilience Get your FREE 40-page well-being workbook:https://tremendous-hustler-7333.ck.page/reflectiveparentstarterkitJoin our membership, The Reflective Parent Club to learn how to manage your emotions and model this for your child. Episode Summary: In today's episode, we're diving into the concept of holding space—what it means to be present for others and ourselves in moments of intense emotion without judgment, interruption, or the urge to fix. This is a core element of emotionally strong leadership, and it's foundational for creating authentic, lasting connections. Inspired by a powerful video of a dad holding space for his daughter's big emotions, we'll explore how this simple act can transform relationships and deepen our own emotional resilience. Holding space isn't just for others; it's also a skill we can cultivate to better support ourselves. Tune in to discover how to embrace this transformative practice in your own life. Topics Covered: What Does It Mean to Hold Space? We define what holding space truly means and why it's more than just being physically present. Learn why this practice involves active patience, empathy, and the ability to stay grounded. Why Holding Space Matters: Holding space creates a safe environment where people feel seen, accepted, and free to be themselves. For us, it's an opportunity to grow our own emotional resilience and practice deeper empathy and connection. Examples of Holding Space in Different Scenarios: Holding Space for Others' Emotions: How to be there for someone without jumping in to fix or solve. Holding Space for Ourselves: Learning how to be there for ourselves during difficult emotions without rushing to change or judge what we're feeling. Practical Tips to Start Holding Space Today: Discover simple techniques for cultivating this skill in your life, including grounding yourself, practicing non-judgmental listening, making room for silence, and fostering self-compassion. Key Takeaways: Holding space is an active choice to allow others (and ourselves) to experience emotions fully, without judgment or the need to fix. Emotionally strong leadership requires presence, patience, and stability. By practicing this with others, we create a space for genuine connection and trust. Holding space for ourselves can be deeply transformative, helping us embrace all parts of ourselves with compassion and acceptance. Action Steps: Reflect on how you currently respond to others' emotions. Are you quick to give advice or fix? Practice simply listening without needing to solve. Try holding space for yourself by setting aside time to sit with your emotions without judgment. Start with just a few minutes, acknowledging what you're feeling and allowing it to be there. Ground yourself with a few deep breaths next time someone shares something emotional. It will help you stay present and supportive without absorbing their energy. Quotes: “Holding space isn't passive—it's an active choice to set aside your own discomfort, your need to fix, and allow others to be as they are.” “Emotionally strong leadership begins with the willingness to hold space, both for ourselves and those we lead.” Show Notes: Here Connect with Me: Email: chantel@chantelallencoaching.com Website: www.chantelallencoaching.com Instagram:@chantelallencoaching If you're wanting to grab a 1:1 spot to learn how to connect more to yourself- sign up with this link here.

In today's episode of The Sispatch, your favorite chaos-duo, Jasmine and Bevin, are back to tackle the big emotions—the ones that make you laugh, cry, and devour half a bag of chips in one sitting. We're diving into how we process all the feels, from those cringe-worthy childhood flashbacks to stress meltdowns, and wondering how we've (sort of) grown into semi-functioning adults. We kick off with a nostalgic trip down memory lane, reflecting on the weird stuff from our childhood that still haunts us (hello, embarrassing middle school moments!). Then, we break down how our emotional responses have evolved over time (or haven't) and how snacks have become our go-to coping mechanism. Whether it's stress, joy, or the confusion of figuring out how to be emotionally available without becoming an emotional sponge for others, we're sharing it all. So grab your favorite beverage (coffee? tea? something stronger? No judgment here!) and settle in for a light-hearted, candid chat that covers everything from crying to laughing and everything in between. Having goals, dreams, and passions to work towards is a guiding light in our lives. But how can we move through our current circumstances with acceptance, even if the end destination feels far away?Today, I'm taking you through a practice that has been fundamental for me in the day to day pursuit of my goals. Here's the thing - there's an underlying feeling associated with everything you want. If you want a new relationship, you want to feel loved. If you want to start a business, maybe you want to feel more fulfilled. If we can get to the root of the feeling we're trying to access, we can feel that feeling right now. We actually don't have to delay gratification until the moment we achieve our dreams. But what about the pain that exists in the now? What if I told you that running from the pain is only making it bigger?I'm going to tell you all about the technique I use personally, and with clients, to move through our pain bodies. After going to a meditation retreat, I was stunned to see the effects of sitting with my pain and actually paying attention to it. This has been the ultimate key to acceptance for me and everyone I've worked with.In this episode, we're chatting about:Practicing contentment on the way to achieving your goalsThe two causes of suffering: aversion and cravingA simple meditation technique to settle down unpleasant emotionsHow to practice radical acceptance in your daily lifeConnect with me:WebsiteInstagramLinkedInYanet helps high-achieving women gain the clarity, confidence, and courage to stop holding themselves back so they can go after what they want unapologetically.Schedule a free clarity call with Yanet to identify what's holding you back and develop an action plan to go after what you want unapologetically: https://www.ybcoaching.com/coachingSee coaching client testimonials here: https://www.ybcoaching.com/testimonials

On this week's episode of In The Circle, we are joined by Rosie, who brings a relevant and powerful inquiry for our consideration: How can I quickly regulate my emotions and ground myself, so I don't get lost in the story my mind creates? This is a deeply relevant inquiry—who hasn't found themselves trapped by the narratives they carry in their mind? It's all too common to become our own biggest triggers, getting swept away by our thoughts and emotions.Recovery, however, is more than abstinence. It's about moving beyond the limiting stories that keep us stuck and discovering new ways of thinking that empower us. It's the process of letting go of old, unhelpful stories and embracing ones that enhance our connection to truth, power, love, and life itself.By rewriting our stories, we can open the door to deeper healing and a more authentic, fulfilling existence.Tommy Discusses:How to disrupt negative emotionsHow to reframe the narratives that keep you stuckYour thoughts hold no power over youHow the mind and breath are connectedYou are not your thoughts and emotionsWould you like to be a guest on the In The Circle Podcast? In this episode, I dive deep into one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal: breathwork. It's been a while since we've discussed the tools we use, and I want to revisit the one that I consider my anchor, both personally and in my work with clients. Breathwork is the most direct line of communication we have with our autonomic nervous system, and it's one of the most effective neurohacks available for managing stress, improving concentration, and enhancing overall health—and it's completely free.Key Takeaways:The Power of Breath: How controlling your breath can help balance your internal state, activate your vagus nerve, and signal your body to shift into rest-and-digest mode.Internal Solutions: Breathing techniques allow us to turn inward for solutions, using our natural resources rather than relying on external means like medications or numbing behaviors.Training Your Nervous System: By focusing on the breath and diaphragm movements, you can influence your autonomic nervous system, helping it respond better to stress.Sympathetic vs. Parasympathetic: Understanding the balance between the fight-or-flight response and the rest-and-digest system, and how engaging the parasympathetic pathway can calm your mind and body.Breathing Patterns as Communication: How your breathing patterns, mood, and mobility communicate the safety your body feels, especially first thing in the morning.Education on Breath: Despite its importance, breath is often overlooked due to a lack of education. Yet, it's fundamental to managing stress and taking conscious control over our state of being.Historical Context: Controlled breathing techniques, such as Pranayama in yoga, have been used for centuries to influence health and well-being.Breathing and Emotions: How the cycle of stress and breathing can trap us in a loop, and how proper techniques can break that cycle.Immediate and Long-Term Benefits: Breathwork isn't just for immediate relief; it's also beneficial for chronic issues like depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and helps rewire the brain's stress response.Breathing Facts: Over-breathing can decrease brain blood flow by 40%, affecting areas responsible for memory, self-awareness, and time perception.Dysfunctional Breathing: Recognizing the signs of stressed breathing and understanding how it impacts cognitive function and stress levels.Actionable Steps:Start paying attention to your breath throughout the day. Notice when you hold your breath, breathe fast and shallow, or sigh and yawn frequently.Focus on breathing through your nose instead of your mouth.Practice intentional breathing exercises to help regulate your nervous system and manage stress more effectively.Join me in exploring how something as simple as breathing can transform your life and empower you to take control of your mind, body, and overall well-being.Support the Show.Resources:Manage Your Stress MentorshipDiscovery call You can find more about Brain-Body Resilience and JPB:On the BBR WebsiteOn InstagramOn FacebookSign up for the BBR newsletter

I'm very excited to welcome my great friend, Kiah Twisselman Burchett (better known as Coach Kiah), onto the podcast!Kiah loves helping people pursue curiosity and authenticity in their own lives, instead of chasing after worldly notions that only lead to emptiness and unfulfillment. In today's conversation, Kiah and I discuss what a ‘Quest for Joy' looks like, and why she is on a mission to bring this concept out into the world.Practicing self-awareness and allowing ourselves the gift of healing can feel extremely hard in the moment. However, it does show us what is no longer serving us, and guides us back home to our true selves (something both Kiah and I have experienced). Kiah is an incredible human being with so much love and energy to share with the world; if you're on your own quest for joy and are ready to (re) discover your authentic self again, this is the episode for you!!In this episode, we cover:What the Quest for Joy entails + why so many of us are seeking joy from things that still leave us feeling empty and unfulfilledHow Kiah plans to get Quest for Joy out into the world and bring people along for this journey Why our inability to process negative emotions tends to hinder our ability to feel, process, and welcome joyThe generational changes that we are now seeing with emotionsHow the ‘arrival fallacy' traps us into believing that a certain moment, achievement, etc. is the only way to make us feel happy and worthyWhy our healing journey shows us the power in shedding what's no longer serving us, and allows us to come back ‘home' to ourselvesKiah's ever-evolving Quest for Joy journey + her commitment to authenticity and truly getting to know herself again Resources & Links:Atlas of the Heart by Brene BrownJoin the waitlist for the Good Movement CollectiveGood Movement TrainingsGood Movement music by: Aaron EspePodcast produced by: Jill Carr PodcastingConnect with Kiah:Follow on Instagram @coach_kiahCheck out her websiteListen to her podcast Climbing with Coach KiahConnect with Terryn:Follow on Instagram @terryn.drielingCheck out my websiteSend me an email at terryn@faithfamilyandbeef.comMake sure to hit subscribe/follow so you never miss an episode!Find the complete show notes here:

Have you ever wondered if you're actually chill or if you're just really good at suppressing your emotions? Before doing this work, I never thought of myself as an “emotional” person — I didn't cry at movies, I didn't lose my temper —but I was completely unaware of the emotional storm brewing beneath my cool exterior. We've all been conditioned with implicit messages that certain emotions are unacceptable or weak (especially us women). As a result, we can start to unconsciously suppress our own emotions. The thing is, no matter who you are, patterns of emotional suppression will have a huge impact on your overall well-being (mental + physical).Listen in to learn:The impact of bottling up emotions on your overall well-beingThree red flags that indicate you might be suppressing your emotionsHow to shift from emotional suppression to healthy emotional managementSAVE $10 on HAPPY JUICETAKE THE PERSONALITY PATTERN QUIZ!APPLY FOR 1:1 COACHING WITH MICHELLEFB COMMUNITY: The Calm Mom CollectiveJOIN ME ON INSTAGRAM: @michellegrosser.coach“I love The Calm Mom Podcast!” ← if that sounds like you, please consider rating and reviewing our show! Welcome to this week's episode of Season of the Witch with Rowan Oaken, where we're getting real about healing the inner teen. After a brief hiatus due to personal loss I'm back, and it feels fitting to dive into something personal! This episode isn't just about looking back at our teenage selves with a mix of nostalgia and cringe; it's about understanding how those years have shaped us, acknowledging the pain, the confusion, and the moments of growth. In the episode I will compare healing the inner child to healing the inner teen, discussing how these phases impact us differently. The inner teen phase, with its identity crises, first heartbreaks, and quests for independence, requires a unique approach to healing. I'll share some personal stories and explore signs that you might have unresolved issues from your teenage years and what you can do about it. From journaling reflective prompts like your relationship with authority or how peer pressure influenced you, to reconnecting with your teenage self through hobbies or music, we're covering it all. And, of course, we'll get a little witchy with it. Expect a spell or two to help embrace and heal your inner teen. If you've got thoughts, feelings, or just want to share your journey, hit me up on Instagram @SOTWWITHROWAN or shoot me an email at seasonofthewitchpodcast@gmail.com. Let's keep the conversation going. Stay witchy, bitchy, sassy, and classy. As promised in the episode, here are the journal prompts: Describing the Teenage Experience: What were your teen years like? Reflect on the general atmosphere of this time in your life, considering both the highs and the lows. Safety and Support: In what ways did you not feel safe or supported as a teen? Consider emotional, physical, and intellectual aspects. Coping Mechanisms: How did you handle your feelings about not feeling safe or supported? Reflect on both healthy and unhealthy coping mechanisms you might have adopted. False Self: What kind of "false self" did you have to develop as a result of your experiences? How did you present yourself to the world to protect your true feelings or to fit in? Relationship with Your Mother: What was your relationship with your mother (or primary caregiver) during your teen years? Consider both the positive aspects and the challenges. Influence of Peers: How did your friendships and peer relationships influence your perception of yourself during your teenage years? Dreams and Aspirations: What dreams or aspirations did you have as a teenager? Reflect on how these have changed or evolved over time. Inner Teenager in Adulthood: How is your inner teenager showing up in your life right now as an adult? Consider behaviors, reactions, fears, and dreams. Unmet Needs: What were the unmet needs of your teenage self? Reflect on emotional, physical, and social needs that were not addressed or fulfilled. Messages Received: What messages did you receive about your worth, your body, and your capabilities as a teen? How have these messages influenced your self-perception? Regrets and Forgiveness: Are there things you regret doing or not doing during your teen years? Explore the possibility of forgiving yourself and others. Lessons Learned: What important lessons did you learn during your teenage years? Consider how these lessons have shaped your adult life. Expression of Emotions: How did you express or suppress your emotions as a teenager? Reflect on the outlets you had or wished you had for emotional expression. Changes in Beliefs: How have your beliefs (about yourself, others, and the world) changed since your teen years? Letter to Your Teenage Self: Write a letter to your teenage self. What would you want to tell her? What advice, comfort, or warnings might you offer? Celebrating the Teenage Self: What aspects of your teenage self are you proud of?
