Send us a textIt's a pleasure to bring you this episode with Ed Foster, a farmer, a motoring journalist, a racer, and perhaps most familiar to you as the (tall) face and voice in the Goodwood Paddocks during the Revival, Festival of Speed and Members Meeting. He grew up on a Farm in Scotland, although boarded at a school in London. His Dad was into racing, and owned the last ever E-Type lightweight, along with an XK120 racecar, a Ford Maverick (with a Joseph tape stuck on repeat) and his Mum daily drove a Ford Escort Cosworth. This is a chat full of horsepower and petrol! Strap and in hold on there's lots to be discussed... Including an F40 that came to his school on a parents visiting day, and his Dad driving a Land Rover twice around Australia.... which has now returned to the family farm! We give Ed's day job a shout out early on - please do look the Rhynd up here. The Lancaster airport is the third busiest airport in the State of Pennsylvania. Ed Foster is the Executive Director of the Lancaster Authority Airport, says more changes are underway to the airport. “We are ramping up for our launch of the nonstop service with British Airways. This coming Tuesday, we have an exciting time lined up, the flight is we have bookings, we have people coming inbound from Orlando, which is great. And we have about 60 people confirmed on the outbound. So, bookings are looking good.” The airport is also adding a baggage screening area, a secure passenger line, while adding a restroom. Foster believes these new additions to the airport will impact passengers in a positive way. “I think it will make travel easier for the passengers that normally would have to drive an hour and a half or two hours to competing airports. Puts a lot less time on the road for those passengers that choose to fly out of here.” Support WITF: https://www.witf.org/support/give-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sixth Street Co-founder and Partner Vijay Mohan sat down in our San Francisco office with two accomplished executives in the professional soccer world for a conversation about the power of accessibility in sports and how it can influence communities. On this episode of It's Not Magic, Vijay guest hosted a discussion with Ed Foster-Simeon, President & CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and Danielle Slaton, a former USWNT player and co-founding member of Bay FC. During the discussion, Danielle and Ed shared their career journeys at the highest level of soccer, the opportunities and challenges the game has presented both professionally and personally, and the type of legacy they hope to leave behind through their work. Although the conversation focused on soccer, it was clear that they were discussing something much bigger than just a game. “The universe will find its way to you as you find your way to it.” - Edward Foster Strap in for a real feel good(les) conversation! ;) I had the pleasure of hosting the wonderful Edward Foster, Chief of Staff at Goodles, on this Real Talk. This episode is packed with Ed's encouragement, wisdom and perspective on how everything ends up working out for us in the grand scheme. Before taking a leap of faith to start a career that would lead him to his ultimate dream job, Ed worked in IT and Law. He found himself unfulfilled and taxed by the work he did, and deep down he craved something else. He wasn't sure what it was, but he was confident it was out there. Each step he took cleared out the fog of his future, and he now plays a pivotal role in creating company culture that is fun, inviting and productive. Ed and I also chat about giving yourself the grace and time to hit the pause button on life to reassess. Because of societal pressure, a lot of us find ourselves in a rat race, and end up neglecting our true passions. Ed provides comforting and encouraging insight about this. ““It's okay,” is such an important phrase” Ed notes, highlighting the ebbs and flows of life's successes and lessons. Get ready to be inspired and encouraged by this Real Talk with Ed Foster! Drop me a line on my Facebook or Instagram about what your favorite part was! With so much love & gratitude, Grace

Ed is an emergency medicine doctor based in London, who also voluntarily leads a charity seeking to empower people to share the message of God's generosity with the world's most unreached people. He explains how the thread of generosity has been woven through his life since childhood, and has profoundly informed his decision-making both personally and professionally. “That for me is the question – not ‘Do I have the right to enjoy these things?’, but ‘Are there others who have more need for these resources which have been put in my hands?’”

Our usual discussion format is on its half term break, so ahead of our Wonkhe @ Home event on retention on November 4th we've got a recording of our session on the subject from our Secret Life of Students event back in September. This term students need more help than usual to thrive, especially when face to face contact, extracurricular activity and part-time work is severely constrained. In this discussion, delivered in partnership with Solutionpath, a panel of experts explored how universities can build a picture of student engagement, and explore what can be done to reconnect with students who are at risk of non-continuation. With Richard Gascoigne CEO, Solutionpath; Helen Higson, Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Aston University; Ed Foster, Head of Student Engagement and Analytics, Nottingham Trent University; and Wonkhe's Editor Debbie McVitty.

This week we are considering the topic of ‘Place: Where To Run Your Business’. Today it is easier than ever to start a business from your kitchen table and build a successful enterprise with an idea, determination, coffee and great wifi. But how do much does our work environment impact us? Does it matter? How do we make sure that we work ‘well’ at home? When it is time to ‘move out’ to an office, studio or shop? And what should you take into consideration when deciding where to go?To help answer these questions is Ed Foster of Foster & Game. Foster & Game is a mother and son duo curating an ever-changing collection of fine and decorative antiques alongside twentieth century design. Ed and I worked together for years before we each set off to run our own businesses. I am so impressed, but not surprised, at how great Ed is at running his own show. The man has excellent taste and frankly, I’d like to live in his new showroom space. I will let him tell you more!
