El equipo de Formula Student Bizkaia ha brillado en la prestigiosa competición Formula Student United Kingdom, obteniendo resultados que nunca antes se habían visto en la historia de este proyecto. Para aquellos que no estén familiarizados, Formula Student es una de las competiciones estudiantiles de ingeniería más importantes del mundo. Equipos de estudiantes universitarios de todos los rincones del planeta se reúnen para diseñar, construir y competir con sus propios vehículos tipo Fórmula en circuitos emblemáticos como Silverstone. Impulse to Innovation was back at Formula Student this year to celebrate the competition's 25th Anniversary. The episode went out live on the 20th July and this podcast is an edited version of that live show. It is great to be back in the race control building overlooking world-famous Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix. From our studio we could see the National Pits straight and out across to the Silverstone UTC.  And what an amazing 25 years its been for FS, with over 45,000 students having taken part in the event since its inception. And tens of thousands of hours of design, prototyping, building, testing and competing. Not to mention the time and effort put in by the judges, who are all volunteers, and the staff at IMechE who put on this incredible event each year with new and exciting challenges for the teams. Helen was joined by a plethora of guests including competitors, judges, FS staff and sponsors and a few special guests along the way. Parlem de la tecnologia Vehicle to Grid, o com aprofitar el vehicle elèctric per a tenir una xarxa elèctrica més estable i eficient amb la creixent generació amb renovables*. En Daniel es Enginyer Industrial i Doctor especialitzat en electronica de potencia. Va començar la carrera professional treballant en sistemes d'alimentació ininterrompuda (SAI) a l'empresa Salicru. Posteriorment va fer el doctorat sobre el control sense sensor de posició dels motors síncrons d'imants permanents (PMSM) i va fer el Post-Doc a EPFL Lausanne. Actualment es Professor agregat del Departament d'enginyeria elèctrica de la UPC a ETSEIB. Des del 2016 es Director del centre de recerca i transferència tecnologica CITCEA i cofundador de la spin-off TeknoCEA. Tecnun eRacing es el equipo de la Universidad de Navarra que participa en la competición internacional Formula Student. En esta competición, distintas universidades de todo el mundo presentan los coches diseñados y construidos por sus equipos, y son puestos a prueba en diferentes modalidades que evalúan el resultado del trabajo y el esfuerzo de cada equipo. En Tecnun eRacing valoramos y fomentamos el trabajo en equipo y el esfuerzo, y todas las áreas del equipo trabajan juntas con el objetivo de diseñar y construir el mejor coche posible.Tecnun comenzó a participar en las competiciones de Formula Student en el año 2009. Inicialmente, el monoplaza era de combustión. Sin embargo, en 2011 se decidió apostar por desarrollar un vehículo eléctrico. Ambos proyectos se trabajaban de forma paralela hasta el año 2017, cuando se decidió fusionar los dos equipos, dando paso al nuevo equipo Tecnun eRacing.El cambio no fue un camino fácil. En la parte técnica se mantuvo igual el chasis de FSTech y el paquete aerodinámico. Sin embargo, se integró la parte eléctrica en el chasis sustituyendo a la combustión. Esto afectó en la decisión de muchos de los miembros del equipo, ya que no estaban de acuerdo con este cambio. Esto dejó un gran vacío de participantes en el equipo y una relación entre grupos un tanto mala.Por lo tanto, la labor principal el primer año fue formar un equipo, y además lograr que se llevasen bien entre ellos. Por otro lado, la razón por la que se cambió en 2020 el coche tubular al monocasco fue por el peso. El tubular estaba compuesto con tubos de acero, sin embargo, con el monocasco se mantenía la rigidez del chasis ahorrando el peso. Además, haciendo el monocasco se conseguían estudiar más materiales, lo que aportaba valor a los miembros del área de chasis.https://www.tecnuneracing.com/

Intrepid engineering students (and soon to be graduates) are hoping to become the first LJMU team to get an electric racing car around the world-famous Formula 1 track at Silverstone. In this episode, we find out more about the Formula Student competition, as well as discussing the challenges around the transition to electric vehicles. Seit 2006 gibt es in Deutschland die Formula Student in der jetzigen Form, ihren Anfang nahm sie - wie so vieles - in den USA. Niklas Jelinski ist Teamchef des "Eleven-O-Six Racing Team" der Helmut Schmidt Universität in Hamburg. Eine Bundeswehruniversität, die sich aber trotzdem gerne diesem Ingenieurswettstreit mit sportlichen Anteilen verschrieben hat. Mit Moderator Kevin Scheuren spricht er heute ein bisschen über die Formula Student generell, aber nimmt uns auch mit in seine Arbeit beim Rennteam, den Herausforderungen und Wettbewerben in "normalen Jahren" und natürlich auch in einer Phase wie derzeit, in der durch Corona alles durcheinandergewirbelt ist.
