In this raw and insightful episode, I sit down with the incredible Elisa Kurylowicz, former elite athlete, mindset coach, and host of the Elisa Unfiltered Podcast, to talk about the wound of feminine sisterhood—the ways in which women struggle to build, maintain, and repair deep, meaningful friendships. We unpack the hidden layers of competition vs. collaboration, the subconscious wounds many women carry from childhood, and how they manifest in adulthood—whether through betrayal, exclusion, or self-sabotage. Elisa shares her own experiences of deep sisterhood breakups, how they shaped her understanding of self-worth, and how she finally cut the cord on toxic dynamics that no longer served her. We also dive into: ✔️ The difference between self-awareness and intuitive awareness ✔️ How the need for external validation keeps us in unhealthy patterns ✔️ Why women struggle to say the thing—and how to break that cycle ✔️ The power of holding space vs. fixing others ✔️ The unseen impact of competition and rejection in female friendships ✔️ How to truly rebuild trust with other women and create deep, authentic connections ✔️ Why many women unconsciously keep themselves on the back burner in life and how to step into your own power If you've ever felt burned, disappointed, or disillusioned by female friendships, this episode is a MUST-listen. Joining us today is Elisa Kurylowicz, a body-positive, high-performance coach known for her killer instincts, big heart, strong mind, and hilarious sense of humor. She came on the Breaking Up With Anxiety™ podcast to share with us about a life-changing practice called Intuitive Awareness. After missing out on the Olympics, Elisa lost her sense of purpose. She found herself in a downward spiral: drinking alcohol daily, smoking cigarettes, overeating, gaining 85 lbs in one year, marrying an abusive man, making poor health choices, and accumulating so much debt that she couldn't afford food. She despised her body and her life… until she discovered Intuitive Awareness. This powerful practice led to her getting a divorce, losing 85 pounds, paying off all her debt, achieving financial success, eliminating toxicity from her life, and most importantly, learning to love herself unconditionally. In this episode, Elisa and I dive into why we often don't change even when we want to, the importance of being coachable, what discipline truly means, the art of focusing on what we pay attention to, how failure fosters resilience and emotional regulation, the belief systems we are indoctrinated with, the 5 steps to overcome self-sabotage, and so much more! This episode has themes of: Intuitive Awareness, Domestication, The Conditioned Mind, Childish behaviour, Breaking Free From Culture Norms, Critical Thinking. Most people will live their entire lives believing that their way is the best way or the only way to be successful, happy or a "good" person. This is the conditioned mind, and we do this to protect ourselves. In this episode we deep dive into human domestication (the system of reward and punishment) and then break down 5 ways in which the outside world controls your internal narrative. This episode is a great base for those who have begun to wonder why they are doing everything they are "supposed" to do, yet they still feel empty and/or unfulfilled inside, OR for anyone who is hearing the whispers that they MUST start to do things differently... Feel the energy in this episode explode through your headphones! Life Transformation Coach, Elisa Kurylowicz, gets real and raw on some profound topics with Michelle today. Elisa strives to live in true awareness of her thoughts, her inner voice and the narratives she tells herself. She is critical of information that she consumes on social media, diet culture, thoughts, patterns and habits. Elisa encourages listeners that understanding the “trends of our conditioning” might help us re-establish our true wants and desires. People who look like they living a free-flowing life are able to separate themselves from what they think other people expect from them, their “default settings,” and are tapped into what they truly desire. Elisa talks about “raising the bottom” of our reactions to difficult situations. So that when we do have bad days, our low isn't continuously as low as it was yesterday. Manage your self talk, take action and respect your own feelings. On this episode we dive into: Becoming your authentic self on social mediaThe gap between the “knowing” and the “doing,” how to turn your knowledge into actionHow our mental models are formed and our ability to change our own narrative Hearing and respecting the nudges that are guiding you into alignment Releasing anger in a non-violent way. (We are not responsible for the actions of others)How living through an abusive relationship can be a reflection of the type of abuse we treat ourselves with. And only until it becomes beyond our threshold do we realize the extent of our mistreatmentMaking peace with our inner child so that we can attract healthier relationships with ourselves and othersDoing the “work” that helps us create meaningful change in our lives The take-home: Elisa explains that the more you practice awareness (observing how you think and how you act/react), you develop a skill that creates space between your reaction and your action. This is truly living in the present and the voice of our truth will present itself. We get to define the words we use. Whether it comes to childhood trauma, divorce, love or loss, we can mindfully create our own energy around our words and experiences. Elisa wants to remind you to listen to and respect the cues of your body: hunger, thirst, exhaustion, holding back tears, all of it. How long are you willing to hide your SELF? The more clear we are with how we communicate, the healthier our lives will become. Take a breath in the space between your mind, body and soul and hold space for yourself there. Heads up: there are no technical issues during this episode. Those long pauses are me processing the incredible words of wisdom and profound inspiration from this week's guest. Elisa Kurylowicz is a former member of the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team. She is 2 x National Champion in Moguls, a World Cup Gold medalist and was ranked in the Grand Prix Top 5 in the world 3 years in a row. After missing the Olympic Games in 2006, Elisa fell into a deep depression. She quit skiing, gained 85lbs in 1 year, abused her body and mind, was in an abusive relationship and was over $30,000 in debt. She then hit rock bottom in 2010 where she sat for over a year. Then one day, she woke up and realized that she had a choice in life. From that day forward, she shifted her perspective on the world and began her journey to self-love and self-appreciation. She has made it her mission to help others find this within themselves. In this episode, Eliza is beyond authentic and shares her vulnerability in a way that will make you feel connected and seen. Within these 30 minutes, she will have you finding the magical moments and joy in every day and help you understand that balance is found within the pendulum swing of life. This is good one folks! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/kristy24/message

The word “expansion” is trending in today’s world of health and wellness, but what does it actually mean and how does it actually look and feel like in your life? Are you ready to expand? This episode is for anyone struggling with self worth, fat shaming, diet culture beliefs, or with the deep knowledge that there is more to life than the way we look. It is so important to my personal health and wellbeing to keep the discussions going about our beliefs, where we learned them and to use this platform to amplify melanated voices. My guest today is Raffela Mancuso. No, she hasn’t written a book, no she is not famous, no she doesn’t have a million followers on Instagram. However, she has a powerful message that she has been speaking about for years. She came onto my radar via social media after one of her posts went viral. The premise of the post was that “Thin people are taking up the space in the body positivity/self love corner” and it called in some of the biggest influencers on Instagram to join the conversation. And guess what!? They did! Her post got over 4000 comments and skyrocketed her into “influencer status” overnight. Raffela identifies as being “small” fat, which we will get into later in the show, and shares her journey of living in a bigger body, the fat shaming, fatphobic tendencies of others, mental health issues, and how she is constantly labelled as unhealthy because of the size of her body. Today, we dive into all the stereotypes, stigmas, beliefs on swaping weight loss for health, offensive language around bigger bodies, thin privilege and so much more. Want to know more about Raffela? Elisa Kurylowicz is a high-performance sports athlete local to the Ottawa area. She is a 2x National Champion and World Cup Gold medal winning athlete in the sport of Freestyle Mogul Skiing. She followed her athletic career with 11 years coaching at the Provincial and National levels. Coaching is her passion, yet the topics and direction have evolved from technical skiing into a more spiritual practice of helping to inspire others to be their best selves. She believes that there is so much more to life then the 9 to 5 job, and so she's sharing her life lessons from her ski career and failing to qualify for the Olympic Games, to getting married and then divorced 1 year later, to gaining and then losing 85lbs, and then taking a leap of faith, following her gut and changing her life completely with the world. She's a fellow podcaster and you can find her show Elisa Unfiltered: Living Life Out Loud at elisaunfiltered.com.
You can find the full show notes and description at https://edgeofcomfort.com/eocp25 On this episode of the Edge of Comfort Podcast, I talk with Elisa Kurylowicz of the blog and podcast, Elisa Unfiltered: Living Life Out Loud. We talk about her life on the Canadian Freestyle Mogul Team, how she gained and then lost 85 pounds, identity, how to develop awareness and live in alignment with your essence instead of ego. Elisa Kurylowicz (IG / Blog) is a former elite skier turned entrepreneur and founder of the blog / podcast, Elisa Unfiltered: Living Life Out Loud. For 8 years, Elisa was a member of the Canadian Freestyle Mogul Team on the World Cup Tour. For as long as she could remember, her dream was to compete as an Olympian. She spent her youth traveling all over the world to ski, and spent 11 years of her life in hotels. In 2006, Elisa narrowly missed qualifying for the Olympics, shattering her Olympic dream and identity. This subsequently sent her into depression, picking up some unhealthy habits and gaining 85 pounds in a year. I'm happy to say this is not where her story ends. Elisa was aware of the dark place she entered, knew she needed help and was determined to change her life. Over the following years, with a lot of hard work and other techniques, Elisa turned her life around and started anew. She lost the weight, unlearned beliefs and habits that were not serving her, began to talk to herself in a more loving and worthy way, and not let fear or her comfort zone determine her path. Elisa founded her blog and podcast, Elisa Unfiltered, where she shares life experiences, challenges faced, and inspirational stories from her discovers in life. She also shares stories of other fascinating people (like Julian DeSchutter from episode 22) to help and connect with people who feel stuck and want to make a shift in their life. Elisa helps people live their best life and learn how to make good decisions for their unique situation. She believes you don't need to take over the world, but need to find inner peace within you and the world is yours.
