III.OVERVIEWThat Propensity which has been proved to be in the Nature of all Mankind, must be a very evil, de|praved and pernicious Propensity; making it manifest that the Soul of Man, as it is by Nature, is in a corrupt, fallen and ruin'd State: which is the other Part of the Consequence, drawn from the Proposition laid down in the first Section.Question to be considered, in Order to deter|mine whether Man's Nature is not depraved and ruin'd, is not, Whether he is not inclined to perform as many good Deeds as bad ones? But, Which of these two he preponderates to, in the Frame of his Heart, and State of his Nature, a State of Innocence and Righteousness, and Favour with God; or a State of Sin, Guiltiness and Abhorrence in the Sight of God?—Persevering sinless Righteousness, or else the Guilt of Sin, is the Alternative, the Decision of which depends (as is confessed) according to the Nature and Truth of Things, as they are in them|selves, and according to the Rule of Right and of perfect Justice, Man's being approved and accepted of his Maker, and eternally blessed as good; or his being rejected, thrown away and cursed as bad. And therefore the Determi|nation of the Tendency of Man's Heart and Nature with respect to these Terms, is that which is to be look'd at, in Order to determine whether his Nature is good or evil, pure or corrupt, sound or ruin'd. If such be Man's Na|ture, and state of his Heart, that he has an infallibly ef|fectual Propensity to the latter of those Terms;; then it is wholly impertinent, to talk of the innocent and kind Actions, even of Criminals themselves, surpassing their Crimes in Numbers; and of the prevailing Innocence, good Nature, Industry, Felicity and Chearfulness of the greater Part of Mankind. Let never so many Thou|sands, or Millions of Acts of Honesty, good Nature &c.descriptionPAGE 28be supposed; yet, by the Supposition, there is an unfail|ing Propensity to such moral Evil, as in it's dreadful Con|sequences infinitely out-weighs all Effects or Consequen|ces of any supposed Good. Surely that Tendency, which, in Effect, is an infallible Tendency to eternal Destruction, is an infinitely dreadful & pernicious Tendency: And that Nature & Frame of Mind, which implies such a Tendency, must be an infinitely dreadful & pernicious Frame of Mind. It would be much more absurd, to suppose, that such a State of Nature is good, or not bad, under a Notion of Men's doing more honest and kind things, than evil ones; than to say, the State of that Ship is good, to cross the Atlantick Ocean in, that is such as cannot hold together through the Voyage, but will infallibly founder and sink by the Way; under a Notion that it may probably go great Part of the Way before it sinks, or that it will pro|ceed and sail above Water more Hours than it will be in sinking:—Or, to pronounce thatRoad a good Road to go to such a Place, the greater Part of which is plain and safe, tho' some Parts of it are dangerous, and certainly fatal to them that travel in it; or to call that a good Pro|pensity, which is an inflexible Inclination to travel in such a Way.SECT. V.The Depravity of Nature appears, in that the general Consequence of the State & Tendency of Man's Nature is a much greater Degree of Sin, than Righteousness; not only with respect to Value and Demerit, but Matter and Quantity.I Have before shewn, that there is a Propensity in Man's Nature to that Sin, which in Heinousness and Ill-desert immensely outweighs all the Value and Merit of any supposed Good, that may be in him, or that he can do.
A busy daf: First - a story of how the people prayed for idolatry to be removed from the world, to diminish sin. Including the need for an egg, which seems connected to the interest in idolatry, until they eventually "blind the eyes" of the "evil inclination" to sin. Also, the case of a non-Jewish woman who vows to worship all the idolatries if she recovers from a very serious illness -- which she does, until she comes to the practice of defecating before Pe'or, and she balks at that. Which gives the Gemara a chance to deride the Jews (Israelites) for falling prey to the practice of worshipping Pe'or -- both in the Torah, and a contemporary in the Gemara who sets out to mock the idol with his defecatory practice (though the priests marvel at him instead). Also, a new mishnah - on the practice of worshipping Molekh, and what it means to offer one's children .
Wrapping up my series on binary thinking and our cultural propensity and judge and reject others with differing perspectives, I am interested in this concept of moral outrage. In my recent discussion with Fox TV personality Kat Timp, she stated that “Moral outrage is often rooted in self-esteem more than altruism.” I intrigued myself with the statement and went and researched it further. What I found gave a lot of support to the statement and got me thinking about myself and some of the hardlines I've taken against people and issues. I'll share what I found. Today we begin a new worship series entitled Fully Alive, based on the book of the same title by Elizabeth Oldfield. This book focuses on the question, “Who am I becoming?” In a world that is rife with division, pointing fingers, selfishness, and ecological destruction, am I becoming someone who is part of the problem or part of the solution? Am I becoming someone who is fully alive, or am I simply going through the motions of existence on this planet?

The force of hope is a potent one that has the power to brighten our lives and bring happiness. No matter how isolated or stuck in your business or life you may feel, it is so very important to hold on to hope and allow it to influence the decisions you make. It is a key ingredient in helping you to live the life you want to live, and in this week's episode, McKay explores the propensity to hope, demonstrating just how powerful it can be even in the bleakest of situations. Trapped in a sinking cave for two weeks, 12 young boys and their coach held onto the hope that they would survive without food and sufficient air. This moving story acts as our opener in this episode as McKay correlates it to situations we face in life. The propensity to hope is having a behavior or pattern that results in a habit of holding on to hope. Today, Mckay discusses what hope encompasses and how it can be defined, and also delves into how to find hope when all seems lost. The episode comes to a close with McKay encouraging us to always choose hope because when we let hope make our decisions, we discover a better and happier way of living. The Finer Details of This Episode: - Having hope in a bleak situation- the story of the Wild Boars of Thailand- Understanding what propensity means- Hope in Pandora's box- What does hope encompass?- How to stop thinking about the ‘nevers'- How do you find hope when you are down and discouraged?- A story of hope told in a painting- The choice of hope- The benefits of holding on to hope- Ways to acquire the trait of being hopeful- Hope as a force multiplier Quotes: “We all get buried, stuck from time to time, whether by our own poor judgment or by factors completely beyond our control.” “We had each other and we had hope.” “We all face storms and darkness and are lost in isolation from time to time. Sometimes we lose, fail, regress and it's in those times that we're unsure whether we can, in fact, do what we're being asked to do.” “Hope is a passion for what is possible. When things around you say give up, hope always remains.” “The definition of propensity is an established pattern, behavior, or an attraction to a thing.” “Are you a person of hope? What's your propensity?” “When we have hope, we have more than we think.” “Don't give in to your depravations, live up to your expectations.” “You weren't placed here to peek into your future, but to open the door wide and walk through with confidence.” “Hope is the belief that circumstances will get better. It's not a wish for things to get better, it's the actual belief, the knowledge that it will happen.” “Remember, you can't make someone else's choices, and you shouldn't let them make yours.” Show Links: Open Your Eyes with McKay Christensen

Kind of a rambler this episode. The guys talk about getting old, Brendan has a birthday, Trump melts down several times in public, and Marty worries about low-propensity voters. We are 29 days away from the biggest election of our generation! Brent Buchanan is on today's show with brand new polling that has not even been released yet. Wes Donehue joins me after Brent to discuss key issues surrounding the election and crucial Senate races. It was a massive weekend for President Trump, his rally in Butler drew around 80,000 people more. With love and patriotism in the air, Trump paid tribute to Corey Comperatore, had a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria performed and Elon Musk jumping for joy! It was vibes, American vibes. Not to be outdone, President Trump spoke to a galvanized crowd in Juneau, Wisconsin. Kamala Harris began her faux media blitz by appearing on Call Her Daddy, a show known for sexually explicit content tailored for women. The campaign is attempting to hammer home reproductive rights conversations and Tim Walz did not get away with his lies when he appeared on FOX. We will continue to break it all down for you as we head into this final month. I voted early, remember, outreach efforts cost money to get out there and cast your vote! Ghazal Asif Fahadi, VP of Channels, Alliances, and Inside Sales at Rubrik, shares her expertise on the importance of channel partnerships in software sales. She highlights two primary reasons why companies often get the channel playbook wrong: inadequate measurement of channel impact and working with too many partners. Ghazal emphasizes that companies often fail to track the incremental contribution of the channel to the business, leading to mistrust and self-sourcing of deals. To address this, she recommends measuring the deals that are sourced by partners and approved by reps to ensure accurate tracking. This approach will enable companies to understand the channel's true impact and make data-driven decisions. Ghazal advises companies to highly qualify their partners, commit to a few strategic partners, and invest in them instead of trying to work with a large number of partners. This strategic approach will allow companies to build stronger relationships, improve focus, and increase accountability. Ghazal attributes the failure of the conventional channel playbook to the lack of understanding of the channel's true impact, particularly among software companies. She notes that many large technology companies that have grown up in the hardware industry may not fully comprehend the importance of measuring channel contributions. This gap in understanding can lead to misguided strategies and ineffective channel partnerships. Ghazal shares a personal anecdote about a turning point at AppDynamics, where they realized the need to establish leading indicators for their channel partners. These leading indicators would help track progress, ensure accountability, and provide a more sales-organization-like approach to the channel. Rubrik has implemented a set of leading indicators to measure the performance of their channel partners, including: * Deal registration: The number of deal registrations submitted by partners * Deal registration conversion: The conversion rate of deal registrations into opportunities * Opportunity conversion: The conversion rate of opportunities into closed deals * Save the Data: A group of people who learn about the chaos caused by cyber attacks and attend events that generate pipeline * Account mapping: Research and identification of high-potential accounts * Propensity to buy: Researching and identifying accounts with a higher likelihood of purchasing the company's technology

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for August 20, 2024 is: propensity pruh-PENN-suh-tee noun A propensity is a strong natural tendency to do something. // As a child, she had a strong propensity for mischief. See the entry > Examples: "The work suggests that the propensity for the cleverest AI chatbots to go off the rails isn't just a quirk that can be papered over with a few simple rules." — WIRED, 1 Aug. 2023 Did you know? If you're partial to picking synonyms of propensity, perhaps peruse the letter "p," which predominates for such words, in our pages. Proclivity, preference, penchant, and predilection all share with propensity the principal meaning of "a strong instinct or liking." Propensity comes from Latin prōpensus, a form of prōpendēre, a verb meaning "to incline" or "to hang down" (as pendulous things do). With that in mind, it's perfectly plausible that leaning and inclination are as good synonyms of propensity as any of those "p"-words.

Cardiogenic shock accounts for up to 5% of acute heart failure presentations and around 14–16% of patients reported in cardiac intensive care datasets. It complicates up to 15% of all myocardial infarctions and is the leading cause of death post-infarction. Using pharmacological agents alone may increase left ventricular afterload and myocardial oxygen demand, resulting in complications. Thus, mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices have emerged as important therapeutic options. As evidence remains uncertain, MCS selection depends on clinician preference and local availability. An updated systematic review and meta-analysis of high-quality RCTs and propensity score-matched studies (PSMs) was performed to compare the outcomes of MCS devices with no MCS and each other and investigate which MCS is the most effective in reducing mortality. To learn more about the findings of this study listen to this podcast.

Propensity for Partiality James 2:1-13
Commentary by Dr. Candice Silversides
Want to win this fall? Well, the first step is making sure everyone on our side actually votes. How can we shift our perspective on relationships from a transactional mindset to one of mutual growth and evolution? 20. Is it possible to create a relationship that is free from the constraints of societal norms and expectations, and instead is based on the principles of love, respect, and spiritual connection? Zo's Talking Points: ### “Chattle Love”: Are Our Relationships Transactional Because We Were Once Someone's Property? The concept of "Chattle Love" interrogates the ways in which our historical experiences as chattel slaves continue to influence contemporary relationship dynamics. This essay explores whether the transactional nature of our relationships today is a direct legacy of a past where human beings were commodified and treated as property. Drawing on Dr. Mariel Bouquet's work on generational curses, we delve into the following provocative questions to understand the psychological and spiritual ramifications of our shared history. #### 1. In What Ways Do Our Current Relationship Dynamics Mirror the Plantation Hierarchy? The hierarchical structure of plantation society, with its clear delineation between masters, overseers, and slaves, established a precedent for relationships defined by power imbalances and control. Today, similar dynamics can be observed in relationships where one partner assumes a dominant role, exerting control over the other's autonomy and self-worth. The legacy of slavery has embedded a psychological script that normalizes dominance and submission, often manifesting in relationships where power is unequally distributed and control is subtly or overtly exercised. #### 2. Has Your Partner Become the Overseer of Your Shadow Work or Vice Versa? Shadow work involves the introspective process of uncovering and integrating suppressed parts of the psyche. In relationships, partners often unwittingly take on the role of overseer, scrutinizing and managing each other's psychological and emotional labor. This dynamic can replicate the overseer-slave relationship from the plantation era, where one partner supervises and critiques the other's efforts at self-improvement and healing. The question arises: does this dynamic foster genuine growth, or does it reinforce a cycle of control and subjugation? #### 3. How Is Your Relationship “Resale Value” Connected to the Dissolution of Your Worthiness Wounds? The concept of “resale value” in relationships refers to the perceived worth of a partner in the social marketplace. This notion is tied to deeply ingrained worthiness wounds stemming from historical dehumanization. On plantations, slaves were valued based on their physical attributes and labor potential, a commodification that persists in the way individuals assess their and their partner's value in relationships. Healing these worthiness wounds involves dismantling the internalized belief that one's value is contingent on external validation and instead fostering intrinsic self-worth. #### 4. What Parallels Can Be Drawn Between Our Shared History as Chattel Slaves and the Propensity to Remain in Spiritually, Mentally, and Emotionally Abusive Patterns with Ourselves? The trauma of slavery has left a psychological imprint that predisposes individuals to internalize abuse and self-neglect. Just as slaves were conditioned to accept abuse as a norm, many people today remain in destructive patterns due to a deep-seated belief that they do not deserve better. This self-perpetuating cycle of abuse can be seen as a generational curse, where the unprocessed trauma of ancestors continues to manifest in the form of self-sabotage and toxic relationship patterns. Breaking free from these patterns requires a conscious effort to heal and reclaim one's sense of self-worth and autonomy. #### 5. How Do We Remedy the Collective Desire for Validation That Builds Attraction to “Keeping up with the Joneses”? Furthermore, Is the Desire for Validation a Byproduct of Spiritual Poverty and Epigenetic Trauma? The collective desire for validation and social comparison, epitomized by the idiom “Keeping up with the Joneses,” can be traced back to a spiritual and emotional void inherited from our ancestors. This desire is often a manifestation of spiritual poverty, a lack of inner fulfillment, and a need for external affirmation. The epigenetic transmission of trauma means that the pain and suffering of previous generations can influence our behaviors and desires. To remedy this, it is crucial to cultivate a sense of inner peace and contentment that is independent of external validation. This involves spiritual practices, therapy, and community support aimed at healing generational wounds and fostering a sense of inherent worthiness. ### Conclusion Exploring the concept of "Chattle Love" through the lens of generational curses reveals profound insights into the ways our history of slavery continues to shape contemporary relationship dynamics. By understanding and addressing these deeply rooted patterns, we can begin to heal the wounds of the past and create healthier, more equitable relationships. This journey requires a commitment to introspection, healing, and the reclamation of our intrinsic worth. Title: Unpacking the Legacy of Chattle Love: Healing Generational Curses in Relationship Dynamics In the complex tapestry of human relationships, there exists an intricate interplay of power dynamics, historical legacies, and individual traumas that shape the way we connect with others. Dr. Mariel Bouquet's work on generational curses provides a thought-provoking lens through which we can examine the roots of our relationship patterns and dynamics. One particular aspect that warrants exploration is the notion of "Chattle Love" - the idea that our relationships may be inherently transactional in nature due to our historical experiences of being considered property. The echoes of the plantation hierarchy can still be heard in the way we navigate relationships today. Just as slaves were once owned and controlled by their masters, are we unconsciously replicating power imbalances in our partnerships? Do we find ourselves either playing the role of overseer in our relationships, imposing our expectations and demands on our partners, or conversely, submitting to the authority of our significant others, allowing them to dictate our worth and value? The concept of "resale value" in relationships raises a poignant question about how our sense of self-worth is intertwined with the dynamics of our partnerships. Are we seeking validation and validation from external sources, measuring our value based on societal standards and expectations? Could this desire for validation stem from a deeper place of spiritual poverty and epigenetic trauma, echoing the wounds of our ancestors who were stripped of their humanity and dignity? In examining the parallels between our shared history as chattel slaves and our propensity to remain in spiritually, mentally, and emotionally abusive patterns with ourselves, we confront uncomfortable truths about the ways in which generational curses manifest in our relationships. Are we perpetuating cycles of trauma and abuse, unknowingly passing on the pain of our ancestors to future generations through our relational dynamics? Breaking free from the shackles of generational curses requires a conscious effort to heal the wounds of our past and forge a new path towards healthy, loving relationships. This journey towards liberation involves both individual and collective healing, as we confront the patterns of our ancestors and actively choose a different path for ourselves and future generations. Integrating the wisdom of shamanism and spirituality into our relationships can offer a transformative approach to deepening our connections with others. By cultivating a deeper sense of connection and understanding, we can transcend the limitations of our past and create relationships based on mutual respect, love, and equality. In navigating the complexities of power dynamics in relationships, it is essential to ensure that both partners feel empowered and valued. By honoring the struggles of our ancestors and learning from their experiences, we can create a more conscious and loving relationship dynamic that is rooted in authenticity and healing. By utilizing the principles of metaphysics and theoretical physics, we can gain a deeper understanding of the energetic dynamics at play in our relationships. By transcending the constraints of societal norms and expectations, we can create relationships that are grounded in love, respect, and equality, ultimately breaking free from the chains of the past and forging a new path towards healing and whole

He is Full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at Catholic University in Rome, and Member of Consiglio Superiore di Sanità, Ministry of Health Italy and Vice President 1st Section of Consiglio Superiore di Sanità. He is President Elect of E.S.G.E. (European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy), and Past President of the Italian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (S.I.G.O.). Prof. Scambia is specialized in gynaecological cancer treatment and research. He has studied and developed innovative surgical approaches for the cure of gynecological cancers and has been invited professor in several academic hospitals both in Europe and outside Europe, and he is considered an opinion leader in the field of gynecologic oncology. Dr. Carmine Conte works at the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS in Rome, Italy. He got the ESGO Fellowship diploma and is recognized as a certified European Gynaecological Oncologist. Dr. Conte is a surgeon and researcher with special interest in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy and robotic) to treat cancerous and noncancerous diseases of the female reproductive system. Highlights: - The patients with oligometastatic recurrent disease had a higher likelihood of minimally invasive secondary cytoreductive surgery. - Lymphnodal recurrences can be easily approached by MIS. - Propensity-matched analysis showed no differences in survival between the MIS and open groups, with a higher rate of overall and severe early complications in the open group. - Diagnostic laparoscopy and PET/CT scan should be considered complementary because of the potential of each one to identify a different disease setting. - A diagnostic laparoscopy before secondary cytoreductive surgery may prevent unnecessary laparotomies.
