Kia Joorabchian's colossal spending spree, a controversial Cesarewitch and fears over a tax raid on bookmakers are all up for discussion in this week's edition of The Front Page. Lee Mottershead, Jonathan Harding and David Jennings kick things off by looking at last week's explosive yearling sale in Newmarket, where Amo Racing's Joorabchian spent over £24 million, in the process thwarting bloodstock superpowers Coolmore and Godolphin. We examine why he did it and where it might lead? Next up is a review of the Future Champions Festival at Newmarket, where Alphonse Le Grande won a Cesarewitch he might lose on Tuesday due to his rider's use of the whip. We ask if the system needs changing and reflect on the Dewhurst Stakes and Fillies' Mile. Finally, we look at reports suggesting the government is considering major increases in betting duty that could decimate British racing's finances. We assess just how bad that could be for the sport.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans host the Morrison Fillies for a TRAC West Division game at Monmouth-Roseville High School.
The (0-1) Southwest Valley Girls basketball team are looking to win the second game of their young season, after a 60-34 loss to Shenandoah. It was a contest that saw Southwest Valley down 36-15 at half and low percentage shots from across the floor. Head Coach of the Timberwolves Mike Cormack noted the inexperience and lack of size was a major reason why his team struggled against a lengthier Fillies squad. https://www.kjan.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/SWV-Game-Shenandoah.mp3 Even with a loss, the Timberwolves had a few positive takeaways from Tuesday's game. Players like Hailey Randall who scored 16 points, shot 54% from the field, and went 2-4 from behind the arc. Mackenzie Fast also contributed with 7 boards and 11 points. The offensive effort from Tuesday night stood out to Coach Cormack. https://www.kjan.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/SWV-Hailey-Randall.mp3 Now the Timberwolves are gearing for a familiar foe they've scrimmaged before in this past offseason. The Griswold Tigers will start the season by looking to a few familiar faces like Seniors Karly Millikan and Madison Rush. Millikan had 147 rebounds, 23 steals, and 5 blocks in her sophomore campaign, but sat out her junior year due to an injury. Rush last year had 13 completed 3-pointers, 25 rebounds, with 7 assists, and 7 steals. Coach Cormack knows that even though Griswold only won two games a season ago, that this is a team he cannot overlook. https://www.kjan.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/SWV-Game-Griswold.mp3 A key for the Timberwolves to come away with a win on the road Thursday night is to emphasize outside shooting. Southwest Valley shot 30% on their three pointers with only 13 attempts. Coach Cormack would also like to see his team continue to build on their confidence, because he knows they can compete with any team in the state. https://www.kjan.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/SWV-What-they-need-to-do-to-win.mp3 Tipoff between the Southwest Valley and Griswold doubleheader is set for 6:00 p.m. KJAN will bring you the coverage starting with the pregame show at 5:50 p.m.

Dual Champion jockey Paul Hanagan joins Emmet to review British Champions Day at Ascot. Big Rock stole the show with a jaw-dropping performance in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. They explore the significance of the ground conditions and speculate on what to expect from the son of Rock Of Gibraltar in 2024. Frankie's farewell resulted in epic scenes as Trawlerman somehow beat Kypios, and King Of Steel won a much-deserved Group 1 in the day's feature race, making it the only horse to win on the day from off the gallop. Could the Breeders Cup be next for Kia Joorabchian's star? The lads also discuss Art Power's first Group 1 victory and the fairytale win for Poptronic in the Fillies & Mares Stakes. Lastly, the lads delve into the upcoming ITV Drive to Survive-style documentary for horse racing as Ireland faces a SKY/Racing TV blackout. Will Frankie bow out in style on Kinross? Who wins an open looking Fillies and Mares. Find out in part one of the show. In the second part of the show the final three race's on Ascot's card are on the agenda. A strong French fancy from the team in the QEII Stakes. More French domination in the Champion Stakes? Then Graeme Rodway gives us a 25/1 NAP in the Balmoral Handicap. To end the show, the team give us their best bet's for British Champions Day.
Jockey Dougie Costello joins Emmet to review a weekend dominated by the two Boys in Blue, Coolmore, and Godolphin. Aidan O'Brien took both Newmarket juvenile Group 1s with classic prospects, and we begin with the hugely exciting City Of Troy in the Dewhurst Stakes. How good is he, and can the son of Justify win the Triple Crown? Ylang Ylang got back on track in the Fillies' Mile. Is the daughter of Frankel capable of winning a Guineas, or should her main aim be the Oaks? It's been a tough season for Godolphin as a whole, but they have a lot to look forward to in the shape of Newmarket winners Ancient Wisdom and Arabian Crown. Meanwhile, one of the lads thinks the best of them might be Dance Sequence, who looks like a huge player in the 1000 Guineas! Speaking of the first filly's classic of the season, this year's winner, Mawj, was finally back in action at Keeneland as she won the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes under Oisin Murphy. But what race should she go for at the Breeders Cup? We also discuss the lack of betting ring coverage on telly and Frankie Dettori's retirement u-turn! Trueshan is currently a best price of 15/8 to win the Group 2 race, but St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov is sure to provide a stern challenge and isn't far behind in the betting at 5/2. The first Group 1 of the day is the Sprint Stakes. Creative Force is the market leader in an open looking contest at 7/2, Andy is keen on Rohaan, the 4 year old disappointed in this race last year but won the Wokingham at Royal Ascot back in June. The Fillies & Mares Stakes follows with Emily Upjohn favourite in another open race. She's currently a best price of 4/1. She disappointed at Ascot in the King George following her Oaks second place but will be looking to end the season on a high.Inspiral will prove tough to beat in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and is a best price of 11/10 compared to worst odds of 10/11. Modern Games could provide the toughest challenge and is the 4/1 second favourite with William Buick in the saddle. The penultimate race of the day is the Champion Stakes, the final time we'll get to watch Baaeed. He looks to make it 11/11 and the betting suggests he'll do it, he's a best price of 1/4 but as short as 1/5 in places. Andy is keen to get Adayar onside with 9 going to post. At 5/1 he could provide to the toughest challenge to Baaeed with stakes being returned should he finish no worse than third. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

George Elek is joined by oddschecker tipster Andy Holding to preview Friday and Saturday's racing from the Cambridgeshire Meeting at Newmarket.Starting with Friday, Andy takes a look at the opening four races on the card, kicking off with the Fillies' and Mares listed stakes. Roger Varian is bang in form of late but Andy looks to take Zanbaq on here with Crystal Caprice. Another Fillies' and Mares race follows next on the card, with 8 runners on the card Andy thinks Sea Silk Road is the right favourite but he looks for some each way value.Next up it's the Rockfel Stakes. Commissioning heads the market at 7/4 but Andy thinks the market is "all wrong", again he looks for some each-way value with many of the other runners in good form, with the added benefit of having run better times than the favourite where the draw could also be key.The Joel Stakes comes at 3.35, and despite just 7 runners several firms are still paying 3 places. Andy is all over Pogo citing it as the value bet of the day. Charlie Hills' runner can be backed at a top price of 5/1 compared to a worst of 4/1.Saturday looks all set to be a brilliant day of racing with two Group 1 races and the feature Cambridgeshire Handicap. The Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes kicks the day off with Andy keen on Flying Honours despite the short price of 4/7, a superstar in the making?Next up it's the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Trilium and Meditate are joint market leaders at 5/2 with Andy keen on the former, another potential superstar in the making, as well as liking the each way price of Lezoo with William Buick on board.Another Group 1 follows with the Middle Park Stakes, Blackbeard opened up at 2/1 in places but is now out to 11/4. Andy was very very keen on Mischief Magic with one bookmaker going 5/1, although he's now a top price of 7/2.The Cambridgeshire comes next and as ever it looks wide open with a current field of 29 runners set to go to post. You can currently get 8 places with SkyBet in a race that Andy calls one of the most competitive renewals ever. Mujtaba heads the betting at 9/2, but our man draws up a shortlist of Savvy Victory (10/1) under Ryan Moore with stamina on his side, Dual Identity (14/1) and Kitsune Power (16/1), with the latter running for the in form Roger Varian. In one of the more motivational episodes of the show she teaches us to not allow ourselves to be boxed into any one path in life, and shone the light on the importance of Dance Directors and Athletic Trainers in the Coaching Universe. George Elek is joined by Andy Holding to preview Saturday's cards at Newmarket ahead of the 1000 and 2000 Guineas. The guys kick off the Fillies' and Mares' race at 1.15 on Saturday, all eyes will be on odds-on favourite Flotus in this one who Andy thinks could go on to run in the Commonwealth Cup. He's keen on her to win the opener. The Heritage Handicap is covered which looks a really open looking race, Asjad currently heads the market at 15/2, Jumby is the one Andy likes the look of with William Buick onboard. At 15:40 it's the big one, the Qipco 2000 Guineas. Native Trail is the hot favourite to win this year's renewal for William Buick and Charlie Appleby, Andy has his eyes on Eydon and Luxembourg at E/W prices with Native Trail currently a best price of 5/4. To wrap us Saturday's selections Andy likes Contact in the handicap at 16:15 and Manaccan in the final race of the day.On to Sunday and Andy think Red Verdon could provide some value in the Heritage Handicap at a current best price of 25/1, but thinks favourite Valleu Forge could well be the one to be on.Tenebrism currently holds favouritism in the 1000 Guineas on Sunday in what looks like a high standard of renewal this year. Frankie Dettori rides Tuesday with man of the moment William Buick on Wild Beauty. Andy is keen on two runners at e/w for the showpiece event, Malavath and Ameynah. Timestamps and especially RICH linkiness follow. 1:08 Last week's races ended our 33xpl tour season after 18 weeks of picks and analysis, covering 37 races on 15 tracks across 9 states of the U.S. We're proud and relieved to have completed it and hope you enjoyed it, too! 2:35 Weej recaps the Hill Prince (G2), 1 and 1/8 miles on turf for 3 year-olds. (When no sex is given, the race's entrants will almost always be mostly colts, and perhaps a smaller number of geldings. Fillies are technically allowed to run these races, which is why it just says 3yo, without any restriction by sex, but it's quite a rare horse and unusual occurrence when it happens.) 3:35 Weej's podcast hunches were better than her later bets. Finish order was WIN: Public Sector, PLACE: Never Surprised, SHOW: It Can Be Done, and in 4th: Hilliard. https://youtu.be/UVbNBuzI258 4:55 Trixie found watching the previous (G3) Saranac—link to video in last podcast—with the top two finishers was a good prediction of their running styles and their battle to win this race. https://youtu.be/EjLt4Yiu9I4 6:44 It Can Be Done was that long-shot Show bet Trixie enjoys. Where were Soldier Rising and War Bomber? 8:39 Horse 11 of 11, Original, actually beat Public Sector in July, fostering Weej's hopes for it. 11:13 The Breeders Cup draws are on Monday, so we'll analyze next week when we know the entrants, but we already know there is an exciting, unique Wagering Menu planned for these races on Friday, November 5th, and Saturday, November 6th, at the Del Mar racetrack in San Diego, California and simulcast EVERYWHERE race fans will be. https://www.breederscup.com/article/race-order-and-wagering-menu-announced-2021-breeders-cup-world-championships 11:48 Breeders Cup founded/promoted by John R. Gaines in 1982 as world championships. Since then purses and prestige have exploded. 12:41 The slates of races: 5 on Friday for Future Stars and 9 on Saturday for grown-ups
