For so long, it seemed like there was just this time of life women would suddenly hit – menopause – and everything went dark. There was really nothing you could do about it. What a disservice to women! Not only is it not-as-simple as just hitting menopause (a little thing called perimenopause lasts much longer than menopause for many women), it’s also a lie that there’s nothing we can do to ease the transition. Plus, hitting menopause doesn’t mean your life has to be over – you can be just as a vital post-menopause as you are pre-menopause if you know the steps to take care of your body. In this interview with Maria Claps, we cover it all: What perimenopause is all about How you know when you are transitioning into menopause How certain foods and supplements can change the whole game The biggest factor that impacts hormones, and What the real deal is with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). If you are over 40, you don’t want to miss this episode! Maria Claps is a certified health coach, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner and mom to 4 grown boys. After receiving inadequate healthcare that did nothing to address her perimenopause problems, Maria enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in order to help herself. After that, Maria pursued several hormone-centric trainings including Dr. Sara Gottfried’s practitioner hormone training program, the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition program and she also has been mentored by hormone scholar and scientist Dr. Lindsey Berkson. Maria helps women all over the world as a perimenopause and menopause mentor via her Thrive Over 45 program. She is a DUTCH hormone test expert. She also teaches health coaches and other wellness practitioners in a mentorship program called Midlife Hormone Mastery. When she’s not working with clients, Maria can be found trekking through Italy, at farmer’s markets locally or in the kitchen creating recipes. Welcome back to part 2 of the Aroids 101 series. I hope you enjoyed last weeks Part 1 on the general information and care for the amazing Araceae family. If you haven’t listened to Part 1 yet, I would suggest hitting pause here and listening to that episode first, as it lays the groundwork for the information we dive into today. We are joined again today by Enid, the founder of NSE Tropicals. NSE Tropicals is an online plant shop that has some of the most rare and unusual plants on the Internet. Enid founded NSE Tropicals 18 years ago as a hobby and it has turned into one of the go to resources for rare and exotic plants. She is an avid collector of aroids and other hard to find plants and even served as the President of the International Aroid Society. Today’s episode is all about the different species that make up the Araceae family, and the popular Aroids we know and love. Enid walks us through what we need to know about Philodendrons, Alocasia, Anthuriums, Rhaphidophora, Monstera and more and suggests great plants to start with when dipping our toes into the Aroid pool… not to be confused with the aquatic plants we also discuss! This talk is full of fun facts that I hope help you bloom and grow your indoor jungles. I know I am super inspired to bring some more aroids home after this conversation! Plant Friends… I feel like I owe it to you to just own how much I butcher the Latin language in this episode. Don’t worry… I’m working on finding the perfect guest for Plant Latin episode to be airing in your earbuds soon. I’m excited to welcome Enid, the founder of NSE Tropicals, the online mecca for Aroids and unusual plants, to enlighten us about the wild and wide world of Aroids. Welcome to the What's Next! podcast with Tiffani Bova. This week, I have a great conversation with Maria Konnikova. Maria graduated from Harvard, earned her Ph.D. in psychology from Columbia. She’s written two New York Times bestsellers: The Confidence Game and Mastermind: How to Think Like Sherlock Holmes. While she had zero poker experience before her first trip to Las Vegas in the fall of 2016, she has now won multiple tournaments, including the PCA National Championship, and finished second at an Asian Pacific Tour, Macau event. Her third book The Biggest Bluff explores how to play high stakes poker is due out in 2019. THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR… those looking to be confident when facing change. TODAY’S MAIN MESSAGE… You might think that it’s all about luck when it comes to being successful in life, but Maria differs. The old adage that luck is opportunity and preparedness meeting sounds great in theory but is only applied to positive aspects of people’s lives.  Luck just happens. It’s not personal. It’s not about a linear career path that led you to a moment of success. In fact, successful people often come from the outside. They have a true advantage because their mind is more flexible; they are not hemmed in by convention to behave in a certain way. They are free from preconceptions. IF YOU’RE A BUSINESS LEADER… Be willing to make good decisions right now and being willing to change later. Many leaders don’t want to change once they've already invested significant resources into a project, but change will always come.  IF YOU’RE A STUDENT (OR PARENT OF A STUDENT)… Maria encourages you to read fiction and poetry. Get curious about the world, beyond your current interests and skill-sets. Consider what you’ll learn from taking the “outsider” courses that make you more curious. WHAT I LOVE MOST… the marriage of psychology, game theory and poker that uncovers insights to be a better leader and change agent. Being an outsider may come with challenges, but having a fresh perspective on the established set of wisdom may be the key to unlocking the unmet potential in yourself and your company.  Get uncomfortable - seriously, it makes you (and your business) better. Marketing for Creatives Show | Marketing Tips for Creative Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners

Ep #4: Let’s think for a moment: Do you like selling? Maybe. But more likely no. And you’re not alone in that. I was in that situation too. It was so difficult to talk about the packages I had, bargain and lower the prices for clients, and it was a horrible feeling when you talk to the person, spend a lot of time of explaining everything, and then they say ‘No’ or even worst they just disappear. In this episode, Maria Ross shares how to sell with confidence. Maria is a brand strategist, author, speaker, and actress. She is founder of marketing and branding consultancy Red Slice where she helps entrepreneurs and small business owners to differentiate their businesses, clarify the goals and develop a marketing strategy. Before creating RED SLICE, she crafted branding and marketing strategies for Silicon Valley start-ups, global software firms, Internet companies, and consumer businesses.
