If you have ever asked yourself the question "I want to believe xyz.... but its just not true" then this episode for you. We will dive into how and why to change your limiting beliefs. There are 6 main things you can do to track your belief level and build evidence for the things you want to believe! Not only that, changing your beliefs can be a self-love practice instead of self-harm. Learn More about The Badass Academy Membership: https://www.thebadassacademy.com/ ..... What beliefs are: why your beliefs are made up and changeable and optional. and how to choose to believe things that are useful to you, even if you are so used to believing an old soggy story believe something that's for the negative or really harmful l, and how to believe something new and practice implementing beliefs if you are easily distractible, if you have ADHD or a brain that just likes to disprove every new belief that you implant in… I got you covered. In the Badass Academy, we talk about all this belief change, and in this episode I'm going to give you the most intensive process I can in a podcast to simarize. Now if you are like the lack of immediate tangible evidence, sometimes it can be frustrating! Especially if you have an ADHD brain. Because we are superworm to find dopamine. Which comes from novelty, newness, oddness and accomplishment. shiny object syndrome when things aren't working as fast as we'd like them to can be an extra challenge with ADHD for that exact reason. So a quick note here on how to keep going with your goals when not seeing the tangible results fast enough … I'll get that in a second. And I also want to offer that there is a common idea that discipline, focus, can get us through anything.. and yes that is true, blAnd if you are someone who does get easily distracted, introducing in these tools here of measuring DIFFERENT results, measuring DIFFERENTly leads to greater ability to stay focused, present and engaged in the process. Beliefs are things that are passed down to us. They are things that are modeled to us and they're things that you know we learned as children from our parents and our mentors. And then throughout life the more we practice and absorb those beliefs, the more we create evidence that they are true. because the brain has a confirmation bias so when you have a belief ingrained in you already you are more prone to see evidence for it. Your brain is hardwired to scan for evidence to support that belief . That's why things feel true even if they don't make any rational sense because the more you practice it the more you find evidence for it and emotion is a glue for a belief. Like sometimes you KNOW logically that you should not be upset at yourself for only posting 5x a week because it is not useful… but if that is a thought habit you've been practicing, the emotional response will still be there. Tip two is to use apps. Apps that help you to review and refresh. Dailio and ThinkUp are my two favorites. Because you can write in those beliefs that you're practicing leaving and you can record it in your own voice you can make different categories. if you want to have a category for all-purpose emotion or.The number three is to write down everything that you want to believe. Don't hold back. This is more of a brainstorm. And put a deadline of when you're going to revisit the plan on the calendar and forget about it.I got that idea from one of my coaches, Simone Seol. and What this does is that it allows your brain to just put it into the motherboard of your system. if you will and marinate for a little bit and when you put a deadline with that signals to your brain that this is important. or we're going to come back to it. so pay attention and then the fourth step is to make a spreadsheet of your beliefs.

Revenue Management – The Podcast How to Align Revenue Management, Sales and Marketing to Impact Guests Welcome to Hospitality Highlights! In this 29th episode of the ThinkUp Podcast, host Lily Mockerman talks with Eric Sutfin, CMO at Social Capital Agency (SoCap) and Kathryn Baker, founding partner of ThinkUp Enterprises and Vice President of Strategy at Total Customized Revenue Management (TCRM). ThinkUp Enterprises: SoCap: HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS EPISODE Lily: How have you seen COVID-19 impacting hoteliers, and specifically, how are they now having to adjust to meet customer demands? Kathryn: Guests are now traveling more locally than they typically would. Hoteliers are trying to turn them into repeat customers and show them that this destination is worth coming back to. They can do that by really creating a unique local experience, focusing on all of the things that make that hotel, that area, that larger market special and unique. Eric: Our friends went up to Aspen the other week. They had booked the skiing, the hotel, and a spa/hot springs experience in one package. The property provided an enhanced and elevated experience for my friend, and he loved that. He said, “Why aren't more doing this?” I think that's certainly a way to build deeper relationships with those local partners in your destination and share in that experience to elevate and add value for guests. Lily, Kathryn and Eric go on to discuss: How you can bridge gaps for your guests and alleviate question marks and concerns about their stay at your property. How the alignment of sales, marketing and revenue management impact consumers. The difference in how to approach a commercial strategy versus an industry strategy. ThinkUp is a commercial strategy consulting firm. We focus on standing out by cutting to the chase. We're here to give hotels true actionable guidelines to make a difference in their revenue and in their profitability. We focus on assessments, looking at every piece of the hotel – everything that touches revenue, any expenses that are related to those revenues, and maximizing all of them to get our clients on a more profitable path. We believe in increasing the social capital, the guest experience, and ADR of various international resorts, boutique hotels and hospitality brands. We do that by provoking truthful and authentic messages that really revolutionize how people are engaging, exploring and connecting with the industry today. As an agency, our main focus is really to be conversion oriented. And so we optimize the guest experience across whatever channel they touch through the micro moments that build customer satisfaction, add brand value, drive sales, and enrich customer data for the hotels we represent. • Kathryn's and Eric's top 3 tips, tactics or tools that hoteliers can implement today that will make a difference through this recovery. FINAL NOTES FROM KATHRYN You can visit www.ThinkUpEnterprises.com. We'd love to have the opportunity to talk with any property that feels like they might have some potential that they're not quite tapping into. FINAL NOTES FROM ERIC To reach Social Capital Agency, you can visit www.SoCapAds.com. There we have a variety of great resources that we put out monthly for the hospitality industry, some really thought provoking and progressive ideas across the marketing sector for you to explore, to digest and to learn how you can implement them yourself. Sarah Thomas didn’t set out to change the face of football as the first female calling plays. Coming from an athletic background, she simply set out to succeed in her calling as an American football official with determination. As the first female official to ever work a major college football game, the first woman to officiate a bowl game, and the first to officiate in a Big Ten stadium, Sarah knows what it takes to open closed doors and make change without making enemies in a competitive environment. But it hasn’t been an easy ride and she’s had to commit to a lot of personal sacrifice to keep her career on track. We invited Sarah to share her incredibly motivating story of breaking the glass ceiling time after time at ThinkUp. When last year’s event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she shared her story about making history in a male-dominated industry as keynote for our virtual 2020 Annual Meeting and participated in a live, virtual interview during our How to Hustle series. We were able to record this interview before she started the 101st season of the National Football League in September. Since then, she’s adding another feather to her cap when she becomes the first female to officiate The Big Game on February 7, 2021! In this discussion, Sarah talks about what it takes to succeed despite the odds, how to take rejection and persevere, and how self-reflection and learning from mistakes can you help grow much faster than the determination to always be right. For anyone who has put all their energy into achieving their dreams, even if those dreams seem far-flung, Sarah’s insight offers a strategy and a mindset to get there.

You didn’t see it coming. And 2020 maybe put you on your nose. This is the part where you turn the tragedy into triumph, the trials into treasure, and move from victim to victorious! Spiritual Foundations Your Misery Is Not Meaningless So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 English Standard Version Normally this is where I would pontificate on the verses above, but this week I will give that honor to John Piper. This is an excerpt from his sermon on this subject with a link to the entire sermon following.   Not only is all your affliction momentary, not only is all your affliction light in comparison to eternity and the glory there. But all of it is totally meaningful. Every millisecond of your pain, from the fallen nature or fallen man, every millisecond of your misery in the path of obedience is producing a peculiar glory you will get because of that.I don’t care if it was cancer or criticism. I don’t care if it was slander or sickness. It wasn’t meaningless. It’s doing something! It’s not meaningless. Of course you can’t see what it’s doing. Don’t look to what is seen. When your mom dies, when your kid dies, when you’ve got cancer at 40, when a car careens into the sidewalk and takes her out, don’t say, “That’s meaningless!” It’s not. It’s working for you an eternal weight of glory. Therefore, therefore, do not lose heart. But take these truths and day by day focus on them. Preach them to yourself every morning. Get alone with God and preach his word into your mind until your heart sings with confidence that you are new and cared for. Today on the podcast I'm talking all about mindset. Specifically I'm talking about all of those nasty little thoughts in your head that are getting in the way of your meal planning success (and likely your success in other areas as well). 5 mindset shifts that will make your meal plan more successfulLike you, I have totally put myself through a mindset workout wondering if family meals and cooking are really all that important, and if I am really capable of both making dinner and living a balanced and stress-free life. Negative thoughts are toxic and if you are constantly telling yourself that you don't have time, you hate to cook, your family doesn't like anything you make, or that you aren't good at it...you will likely fail at the whole family meal, meal plan, meal prepping thing. We all have those negative thoughts and I want to show you how you can overcome some of those negative thoughts. This episode comes with a little assignment, if you've already listened to the podcast and are ready to begin your assignment you can get your free Mindset Shift Worksheet here!Get your FREE Mindset Shift Worksheet here!Don't believe everything you thinkUp until recently, I never stopped to consider that what my brain is telling me is not always true. In fact, it's hardly ever true! If we allow ourselves to believe the negative thoughts about ourselves and about the world we are setting ourselves up for failure. Here's just a few ways to shift that negative mindset to a growth mindset when it comes to cooking and meal prep. 5 Mindset Shifts for Meal PlanningFailure is good, every failed attempt is taking you one step closer to success. Failure is not fun, but failure teaches you so much more than success! Learn from those failures and as you add up all of the things you learn, eventually you will reach success.Your path to success doesn't have to look like anybody else'sInstagram compare-ers I'm talking to you. Just because your best friend gives up her entire Sunday to meal prep adorable little packaged healthy meals doesn't mean you have to. Learn from your own personality, experience, and mistakes and forge your own path. Meal prepping and planning does not have to be all or nothing, small steps are still progressIf you're eating cold cereal every night (no judgment) you are probably not ready to start making every meal from scratch. Start with a Sunday dinner, or maybe some partially from scratch cooking. As you learn you'll be ready to add more, don't get overwhelmed because you try to do too much all at once. You're not supposed to be good at it at firstI have some pretty embarrassing cooking stories. Cooking is a skill and an art that takes time to develop. Meal planning is also a skill that takes practice, so if you are a good cook but you are terrible at meal planning, you just have another skill to work on. Don't stress. You'll get there! You ALWAYS have the ability to change directionSo that meal planning app that you paid for isn't working like you thought it would? Let it go! You made a bunch of freezer meals but you don't like them at all? Give them away and get them out of your freezer and life. If something isn't working for you, change it. Simple as that. You aren't a failure, you just learned something that didn't work. Move on. Don't stay stuck because you've invested time, money, or energy into something that isn't working. Mindset shifts for meal planning worksheetNow that we've talked about some of the ways you should be shifting your thinking to be able to grow and progress, let's get to

4 Ways to Reduce Negative Self-Talk – Ep 7

Teachable LIFE Moments With Keeler Bryson

We all have an inner critic. This little voice can often be more harmful than helpful, particularly when it gets into the realm of excessive negativity. This is known as negative self-talk, and it can really bring us down. Negative self-talk, or "inner critic," may sound a lot like a critical parent or friend from your past. There are different ways to reduce the self-talk in your daily life. 1. Expose Your Critic Learn to notice when you're being self-critical so you can begin to stop it. Notice when you say things to yourself that you wouldn't say to a good friend or a child. 2. Give Your Inner Critic a Nickname When you think of your inner critic as a force outside of yourself and even give it a goofy nickname, it's not only more easy to realize that you don't have to agree, but it becomes less threatening and more easy to see how ridiculous some of your critical thoughts can be. 3. Cross-Examine Your Inner Critic One of the damaging aspects of negative self-talk is that it often goes unchallenged. Catch your negative self-talk and ask yourself how true it is. The vast majority of negative self-talk is an exaggeration and calling yourself on this can help to take away the damaging influence of negative self-talk. 4. Shift & Reframe Your Perspective Sometimes looking at things in the long term can help you to realize that you may be placing too great an emphasis on something. For example, you may ask yourself if something you're upset by will really matter in five years or ten. This can often minimize the negativity, fear and urgency in negative self-talk. Reframe with positive self-talk using affirmations. The ThinkUp app is great for affirmations. Questions? Topic Suggestions? Molly Kroeker starter her career in skincare having spent many years exposed to the sun. Not a better time to have this conversation than in the heat of this summer. In today’s podcast, Molly talks to us about what you need to know about skincare, what is the basic regime to follow, what ingredients are a MUST to avoid, how to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and achieve a healthy glow, and what are the current skincare trend do’s and don’ts. Did you know that you should start wearing eye cream at the age of 13? Neither did we. Listen in for great info on how to take care of the skin your face and your entire body. “Skincare Trends- The Hots and the Nots”   What do we need to know about skincare? Before hitting the pillowcase take your make up off. And in the morning, take your pillowcase off! People need to know what ingredients to look for on the back of the bottle. This is where we need to start. Avoid these ingredients: -Parabens make product last 20 to 30 years. There are many types. Three of the top ones are in Cetaphil, and methyl paraben is one of the biggest one you’ll see out there. -Propyl Glycol (anti-freeze) is in most products. -Mineral oil- has many names. It’s a carcinogenic a byproduct of petroleum. It’s allowed in the US but banned in European guidelines. What you put on your skin is absorbed in 26 seconds.   How to Maintain a Youthful Glow Cleanser- you need a cleanser that will remove dirt and makeup, for both men and women. When you rinse off the cleanser you want to keep the skin PH balance. If you just soap and water, you’re leaving your face in an alkaline space because soap is highly alkalined. That’s why we need a toner. Toner- to restore PH of skin back to a 5.5, with no alcohol in it. Eye cream- start using it when you’re 13. Dot it on the orbital bone you feel below your eye. Don’t touch beneath your eye or pull on it. Moisturize- use a day moisturizer, it’s your protector. Use one with SPF in it. At night you need something that is going to correct your skin, so it replenishes the water you lose during the day. Facial serums are an added punch. They’re typically more expensive than the other items, but they do the most work for wrinkles and lines on our face.   How to wash your face? Keep the product on your hand and don’t put it on a washcloth because you lose a lot of product. Get a little bit of water and little circles all over your face. Just rinse it off with a cheap wash cloth, it helps exfoliate when you wash.   What if you work out? Twice a week use an exfoliator to remove the skin cells and the sweat. Sweat is a toxin. It’s good to do even if you don’t work out and sweat. Something with microbeads. Nothing that will scratch your face.   Can we erase wrinkles, or minimize them? In a natural way, a lot of products will minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, so that you do not see them. They usually have a stable form of Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. This is a really hot product in skin care right now.   Trends in skincare: The bad: Injectables are being used at a very young age…teens and early 20s! They’re quick to jump on the bandwagon of different things. Diet has a huge impact on our skin, so go that route. Tanning bed usage is huge, don’t do it! Over exfoliating is also being abused. Use it twice a week, not twice a day.   The good: Anything with hyaluronic acid. Orange stem cells.     Skincare For Your Entire Body…Lotions! The bad: For your entire body, watch out for lotions with parabens, and propyl gylcol, Sodium laureth sulfate. The sun, stay out of it and use protection. Smoking. Even if you say you don’t smoke, the rest of us can tell if you do.   The good: Exfoliate your skin twice a week. Make sure they’re natural. Drink half your body weight in water. Superfoods improves the appearance of your skin like avocados, berries, kale, spinach and mangoes. Helps your skin glow more. After washing use a body oil with a moisturizer in it.     Hacks for Beautiful Skin for a Big Event or Photo Shoot: For dark circles: lots of water, something with kojic acid and Vitamin K…and LOTS of water! Did we mention, lots of water? Glowing face, something with a stable form of vitamin A, or retinol, or peptides, or orange stem cells or hyaluronic acid. If you can find a European company with very few ingredients, you’ve got a good product.     Molly’s 3 Habits to Ensure Her Health Journey Drink half your weight in water daily. Put it in your fridge so you remember. Sleep. It is SO important. Eat nutrient dense food. The Foresight Institute is at the cusp of the 4th industrial revolution. Technology is evolving at an accelerated pace and there’s a lot of RESPONSIBILITY that goes along with that. It’s so easy for technology to be used for good or for evil. The Foresight Institute is at the forefront of what’s next and has created a non-profit to empower scientists, engineers, and the like to continue to create in a way that serves humanity. During the show, the organization’s President Julia Bossmann talks about the Nobel Prize winner for Chemistry, which is all about molecular machines and nanotechnology. She talks about how artificial intelligence is being used and the guidelines the White House has set for the future in this space in terms of healthcare and employee. Plus, you don’t want to miss Bossmann’s view of robotics, and the oath she believes we may have to create and make robots take in order to maintain civility in our world. In the second half hour, we talk about RESPONSIBILITY to yourself. THINKup co-founder Irit Wald shares her app that will help you to create a successful healthy mindset. Learn how your voice is critical in the process. In this week's "The Edge" series featuring companies that are impacting the enterprise: we are featuring Zen Ecosystem, which has created a platform that gives you insight into how much electricity you're using, where you're using it, and how you can save. The EPA estimates that commercial buildings across the US waste approximately $60B in energy costs each year. Of the 5.5 million commercial buildings in the United States, less than 20 percent have installed energy management systems to monitor and manage energy use to contain those costs. ZenHQ shares their new platform that CEO James McPhail claims will save business 30% on their energy bills.

Entrepreneur, techie, writer and geek, we went with non rapper dude Anil Dash for this episode. I totally enjoyed where this one went, so many gems dropped about Silicon Valley, how we either create value or waste endless hours on social media, and of course, how the evils of racism affect who and how we interact with online. I knew we'd learn something but I had no clue this would be so fun. Be on the lookout for his upcoming ThinkUp app which determines how you spend your time on these Internets. Throw on the headphones and learn something!
