Some time ago I received a letter from a company who were representing a number of media companies and photography agencies. 2 letters actually, in and around the same time. Both asking for a serious amount of money to pay for a license for misuse of 2 images...otherwise court and a big fine and costs. Google the company...PicRights...not something that you want to get caught up in because the hassle and cost is far far greater than any cool use of an image - in my case Lionel Messi and Russian soldiers marching in Red Square on May Day parade.
Today, we're going to talk about video sales letters. Now I don't want you to worry about video. Many people say they don't like being on video. Well, that's okay. I've bought and sold tons of stuff off videos where all I saw was what I would kind of call a PowerPoint presentation. And I've sold tons of stuff without ever being seen on camera, so there's nothing to worry about. HT0833 - The Premise of Noise-free Images One of the prevalent photographic sins these days is to have sensor noise in your image. Why is this such a problem? Could it be that the premise of such thinking is that a photograph should exactly duplicate human vision? If so, where do we introduce the idea of making art?

As a retailer, it would be great if your suppliers sent you point of sale material ad beautiful images of stock. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. But there will also be times when you need gorgeous lifestyle pictures that you can legally use, preferably for free. Get "My 6 Favorite Places For Free Images Retailers Can Use Everyday" Retail Biz Strategy Today I’m going to tell you my 8 favourite places to get designer images, for free. Whether it’s for your blog, or advertising something seasonal, having access to beautiful images that are free is always a bonus. In no particular order, I have listed my top 6 places I use for images and backgrounds: 1) Splitshire - I find this site focuses more on things, than people, but I love the saturated colours in their pictures 2) Magdeleine - I think I was taken with the name first. This is a curated site, which tends to lean more towards nature and landscapes, but with a splash of everything else. Which leads me to 3) Splashbase is like a mini search engine for a select group of free images websites. 4) Kaboom Pics- this tends to be my go-to for lifestyle images of people and business images 5) Death to the stock photo is a subscription service, where each week, you’re emailed a curated selection of images, based on a theme. 6) New old stock photos. Super cute – these are vintage photos from the public archive. You can find so many different things in here. It’s like looking through photo albums of super cool images. Whilst you might think that you’ll never need images other than those from suppliers, not that you’re aware of what’s out there, I’m sure you’ll start to find uses for beautiful images that aren’t boring stock photos. Do you have other resources? I’d love to add them to my list. Comment and link below Get "My 6 Favorite Places For Free Images Retailers Can Use Everyday" Retail Biz Strategy

Adding images to social media posts and blogs make them much more appealing and more likely to be read & shared. Finding the right image that is of high quality can be a challenge though. In this episode we talk about finding cost effective images to suit your budget and suggest sites where you can obtain images that don't cost anything. Another important point to be aware of is that in many cases permission is required to use images obtained from other sites. We explain the relevance of "Royalty Free" images. Finally, we share our experiences of creating our own images when we can't find the right image to match our message. Canva is a user friendly site that lets you create all sorts of images and social media banners at no cost or low cost. Since this the Q4 results have been published so I will cover those in more depth in the next episode. Commentary Blogging for the masses - the effect of LinkedIn publisher. With 1 million posts and more and more users starting to publish posts could LinkedIn publishing be the tool that makes blogging mainstream? In my opinion there are approaches to publishing depending on your objectives; Objective is to build your personal brand within your market / community. LinkedIn publishing is ideally suited to this. Objective is to guide people towards your website in order to build and monetize your following (online business). In this case the best tactic is to use a published post as a teaser with an incomplete post that includes a link to the complete article on your site. A good example is this post from Will Broome (the CEO of London launch who I am featuring in my new Winbusinessin serial podcast) Questions With linkedin asking us to post more, two questions:a) Where do we get cheap/free non copyright photos, or does everyone turn a blind eye? I think not!b) What is the etiquette on quoting sources? I have seen so many posts ( not yours) just quote/cut and paste chunks of others work with it looking like their own.A guide to posting without getting sued for plagiarism or copyright infringements! ANS = Using images is critical if you want your updates or posts to get noticed but using sites like Google images does not ensure that you are not breaking a copyright. The image depositories that I use are as follows; 99c - Low cost, royalty free images (such as the one used in this post) Canva - A design creation site that also includes a good selection of images. Images cost $1 with many of the designs free. Photodune. A much bigger selection of images but more expensive ($3-5 on average). Depositphotos. Similar to above but can be cheaper if you are prepared to buy a bundle of credits. The etiquette on using sources is that if you quote directly from an article you should include a link to that article, if your piece has been inspired by reading another I think it is less important but still an option. Blatant plagiarism is obviously wrong but it does happen. I personally don't waste any time worrying about it though. Please feel free to let us have your views on this subject.

Jokes You Can Use: The local sheriff was looking for a deputy, so Gomer, who was not exactly the sharpest nail in the bucket, went in to try out for the job. "Okay," the sheriff drawled, "Gomer, what is 1 and 1?" "11" he replied. The sheriff thought to himself, "That's not what I meant, but he's right. What two days of the week start with the letter 'T'?" "Today and tomorrow." The sheriff was again surprised that Gomer supplied a correct answer that he had never thought of himself. "Now Gomer, listen carefully: Who killed Abraham Lincoln?" Gomer looked a little surprised himself, then thought really hard for a minute and finally admitted, "I don't know." "Well, why don't you go home and work on that one for a while?" So, Gomer wandered over to the barbershop where his pals were waiting to hear the results of the interview. Gomer was exultant. "It went great! First day on the job and I'm already working on a murder case!" At school one morning the teacher asked little Johnny what he had for breakfast. Little Johnny said, well, on my way to school I come cross this Apple tree, so I climbed up there and started eating apples. I guess I eat about six, said little Johnny.
