Sure, today's going to be decent, but I'm looking at 69° on Friday and getting ready for a ride! Weather will definitely be better later this week. In the news this morning, a possible recall may be coming for thousands of Ford F-150 trucks, 23 & Me is filing for bankruptcy, a nurse in Monroe County is being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a patient, a new craft beer festival is coming to the Wisconsin Dells, and the former Minnesota Senator accused of soliciting a minor for prostitution is staying in jail for now. In sports, the Bucks lost to the Suns last night, MLB opening day is just a few sleeps away, JuJu Watkins is out for the rest of the season with a leg injury, and the men's March Madness Sweet 16 kicks off on Thursday. Elsewhere in sports, now that a bunch of teams have been eliminated from the tournament, college basketball coaches are heading all over the place for a new gig. And the Hulkster is losing massive amounts of popularity, apparently. We let you know what's new on New Release Tuesday and we talked to Grant Bilse of the Wisco Sports Show now that he's back from his trip to Mexico. Is your home full of dust? Here's five tips to help clean things up a bit this Spring. Are you a fan of Fireball? Are you over 90 years old? Well, you could win a "lifetime supply" of the whisky. Have you heard of the term "Boomerasking"?? It has little to do with someone's age, but more to do with wanting to talk about yourself, rather than listen to someone else's story. These videos always get me in the #Feels…a retired Military K-9 & his Army Veteran handler were recently reunited and the clips are emotional! Plus, a funny story about a goat & a kangaroo that worked together to escape the farm. In today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a woman who ran over a bicyclist on her way to a golf lesson, an elementary school teacher who exposed himself in class while he urinated into a trash can, a pilot who forgot his passport at the airport & had to turn a flight around to go get it, another pilot who had to make an emergency landing because some asshole on a plane refused to give up his cigarette lighter, and a man got his girlfriend's hand stuck in his mouth. Hope everyone made the most of the nice weather yesterday! It's gonna get chilly this week. Speaking of the weather, we started the morning talking about yesterday's prediction by Punxsutawney Phil of six more weeks of winter! We also gave an update on the deadly plane crash in Philly this weekend, a Wisconsin woman who falsely reported her child missing, and a look at people trying to move to Canada. In sports, the Bucks have been struggling as of late, the Badgers got a nice win over Northwestern on Saturday, Alexander Ovechkin scored another goal this weekend to get within 18 of Gretzky's record, and a couple of massive trades happened in the NBA as the deadline looms. Elsewhere in sports, people in Canada are booing during the playing of the United States National Anthem, and three more accusations have been made against Ravens kicker Justin Tucker. We let you know what's on TV tonight and recapped last night's Grammy awards. Also, Brian thought his wife was dead this weekend after going to the Wisconsin Dells to see Pat McCurdy. 2nd Floor Sara stopped by the studio to let us know what's going on in the area this week, and we had a story about a heroic jump-roper who saved a teenager in a frozen pond! Also, check out this young shooting survivor who's trying to spread joy with fart noises. Hell of a kid! As we get closer to the big game on Sunday, we took a look at the costs of some of your Super Bowl party food, and also took a glance at how much money some of the players might make if they win the game. In regards to the food you might be serving up this Sunday…you may want to check the expiration dates on the condiments in your fridge. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a priest in Detroit that allegedly used a girl's hair to floss his teeth, a stripper in #Florida who used a banana to assault a convenience store clerk, a guy who broke into a mall in Atlanta to steal some Cinnabon, and a bear that was hiding out under a guy's house in California to survive the recent wildfires. In this episode of STR Data Lab, Jamie sits down with Lydia Patel, a full-time pharmacist and short-term rental investor. Lydia shares how she started in the short-term rental market in 2020, initially learning about long-term rentals before transitioning. Covering her experience, Lydia mentions how analyzing data plays a crucial role in her investment decisions, driven partly by her healthcare background. She highlights the importance of looking at similar listings, their occupancy, and average daily rates to estimate revenue accurately. Lydia also shares insights on choosing investment markets, specifically how she settled on Northern Florida for a family-friendly environment. The conversation further dives into her market analysis process and her interest in Wisconsin Dells, only to decide against it after a deeper dive due to oversupply concerns. Lydia explains her practice of regular market reviews, which helps her stay competitive and informed about new listings and market dynamics. As she considers adding a pool to her Florida property, she weighs the pros and cons, emphasizing the importance of concrete data in her decision-making process. Finally, Lydia touches on her long-term plans, discussing the potential of adding new properties to her portfolio and her philosophy of treating guests as if they were family. Dr. Shawn Conley, UW-Extension Soybean Specialist, can really identify with farms that struggled under odd growing conditions in 2024. Conley's own research plots statewide were hit with the same wet conditions that limited spring planting and overall plant development. Still, there's something to be learned even in a challenging year. Conley visits with Pam Jahnke about some of the unique take aways he's finding in his plot research across the state, funded by the Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board. He's also finding new information about incorporating more cover crops as weed suppressors in fields. Conley plans to share some of these insights during the 2025 WI Corn/Soy Expo, slated for Feb. 6-7 in Wisconsin Dells.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Ever felt spiritually disconnected, like a phone stranded in a dead zone? Join us as we unravel the metaphor of spiritual connectivity, inspired by a recent leadership retreat in Wisconsin Dells. This episode uncovers how we can feel spiritually adrift despite having all the right tools, just like a smartphone that's useless without a network. We reflect on strategies to reposition ourselves to receive and hear God's guidance.Navigating the chaos of life while trying to hear God's whisper can be daunting. Drawing from the timeless biblical story of Eli and Samuel, we explore how God's voice might already be familiar yet challenging to recognize without spiritual attentiveness. We discuss the importance of adopting a listening posture, encouraging openness and intentionality over searching for a secret formula. Through personal insights and biblical narratives, we emphasize the need to create space for God's voice amid life's noise.Imagine being "out of network" with God and the patience required to reestablish that vital connection. Like a phone waiting to reconnect, our spiritual journey back to God's voice can be a gradual process. Through the lens of Samuel's experiences and Jesus' assurance, we offer hope and practical steps for those feeling distant. Supported by our community, we reflect on the importance of spiritual location and the transformative power of listening in prayer, inviting you to embrace your path back to God's network.Support the showIf you enjoyed this episode, consider subscribing to Madison Church on your favorite podcast platform. The mother of Elijah Vue, Katrina Baur, is grappling with heartbreak after her son's remains were identified. In a statement released through her attorney, Amber Gratz, Baur expressed her devastation upon learning the news. “Katrina Baur is devastated by the most recent news, identifying the remains found as Elijah. She had continued to have hope that her little boy would be found alive. At this time, she is mourning the loss of her son,” Gratz stated in an email to Action 2 News. The Two Rivers Police confirmed last week that the human remains found on private property belonged to the missing child, Elijah Vue. The discovery was made by a hunter who was preparing his land for the upcoming hunting season. The remains were located approximately three miles northwest of where Elijah was originally reported missing. Baur remains in custody, facing serious charges of child neglect, which includes accusations of abusing Elijah. Her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, reported Elijah missing on February 20 while the boy was in his care. A criminal complaint indicates that Elijah was with Vang as a disciplinary measure for “bad behavior.” Baur, originally from Wisconsin Dells, allegedly wanted Vang to teach her 3-year-old son “to be a man.” Both Baur and Vang have pleaded not guilty to felony child neglect charges. In addition to these allegations, Baur faces a charge of obstructing police. Their cases are currently progressing through the judicial system. Baur has made several attempts to have her bond reduced; however, those requests have been denied. Last month, a judge did modify her bond to allow for supervised contact with her children, which highlights ongoing concerns about the family's situation. The tragic discovery of Elijah's remains has left the community and family reeling, and Baur's upcoming court appearance in October will be closely monitored as the legal proceedings continue. The investigation surrounding Elijah Vue's case remains active, with the community seeking answers and justice for the young boy. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? This week we discuss the FUTURE OF BROADCAST TELEVISION, what's better: Mars or Prison, creating the perfect murder mystery in Wisconsin Dells, and we discover the fountain of youth! Then in our final segment we open up the idiot lab mail bag!
Pam Jahnke sits down with Dr. Shawn Conley, UW-Extension Soybean Specialist to discuss his Wisconsin soybean harvest observations so far. Conley says he's pretty confident the state's overall yields will be down compared to a year ago, and cautions operators to be careful with settings on combines to make sure they're getting every bean they've grown. Conley also says the dry weather conditions the state's dealing with could mean an elevated Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) population going forward. He says research shows in times of moisture stress, the nematode will actually produce more eggs that can be harbored in the soil until the next soybean crop shows up. The search for missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue has tragically come to a heartbreaking end. On September 13, Two Rivers Police Chief Benjamin Meinnert confirmed that the skeletal remains discovered on September 7 in a remote wooded area were indeed those of Elijah. This news marks a devastating conclusion to a months-long search that captivated the community of northeast Wisconsin. "It is with a heavy heart that I announce today, those remains were identified as Elijah Vue's," Meinnert said during a press briefing shared on Facebook. The remains were found by a landowner preparing for the hunting season, approximately three miles northwest of where Elijah was last seen. The area, which had been extensively searched before, was described by Meinnert as a "thick wooded area." The tragic discovery came after extensive efforts by volunteers and law enforcement, who had combed through marshy areas, river banks, and even a cemetery in search of the young boy. The amber alert issued for Elijah has now been canceled, and the case has officially become a death investigation. David Berthiaume, a local resident who assisted in the search, expressed his frustration and sorrow. "There won't be closure for me until we know who killed him and put him there," Berthiaume said. "Nothing killed him back there in those woods. He was killed and put there." Elijah was reported missing on February 20. At the time, his mother, Katrina Baur, was in Wisconsin Dells, while her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, was at his residence on Mischot Road in Two Rivers. Vang reported Elijah missing, claiming he had fallen asleep and awoke to find the child gone. Both Vang and Baur have been charged with child neglect, and Vang faces additional felony charges. They have both pleaded not guilty. In April, it was reported that Baur had left Elijah with Vang for extended periods as a form of discipline, a claim outlined in a criminal complaint. This background has further complicated the case, as the circumstances of Elijah's disappearance and death come under greater scrutiny. Two Rivers resident Roy Randall, who lives near where Elijah's remains were found, shared his anguish. "It's just really rough," Randall said. "You don't expect something like this to hit so close to home. It's too close to home." As the community mourns the loss of a young life and grapples with the details of this tragic case, authorities continue to investigate. The focus now shifts to seeking justice for Elijah Vue and uncovering the full truth behind his untimely death. Authorities are asking community members to avoid the area where the remains were discovered while the investigation continues. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Two Rivers Police Department. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains found on private property in the town of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, on Saturday. The remains were located by a local deer hunter, who immediately notified law enforcement. As of now, authorities have not confirmed whether the remains are related to the case of 4-year-old Elijah Vue, who has been missing since February 2024. The sheriff's office, in a statement posted to Facebook on Sunday, said, "Identifying the remains will be a lengthy process," emphasizing that the investigation is still ongoing. No details regarding the race, sex, or age of the remains have been released at this time. The department added that it is working closely with multiple agencies, including the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Anthropology Department, the Two Rivers Police Department, and the Manitowoc County Coroner's Office. This discovery comes as the community remains on high alert following the disappearance of Elijah Vue, who was reported missing on February 20, 2024. Elijah's fourth birthday was marked by a community event on August 25, 2024, at Kiwanis Park in Appleton, but his whereabouts remain unknown. Vue was reported missing by Jesse Vang, the boyfriend of Elijah's mother, Katrina Baur. Vang told police that he last saw Elijah at around 8 a.m. on the day of his disappearance after he punished the child by making him stand and pray. Vang claims that he fell asleep and when he awoke nearly three hours later, Elijah was gone. Vang reported the boy missing at 10:59 a.m. from their apartment on Mishicot Road in Two Rivers. Both Vang and Baur were arrested shortly after Elijah's disappearance and charged with child neglect. Vang is being held on a $20,000 cash bond, while Baur remains in custody on a $15,000 cash bond. Baur faces felony child neglect charges as well as two misdemeanors for neglect involving another child and resisting or obstructing an officer. Both are awaiting court appearances, with Vang scheduled for a status conference on September 27 and Baur on October 22. The search for Elijah has been extensive, involving canvassing urban and rural neighborhoods, river searches, drone surveillance, and K9 teams. Investigators also searched a landfill in Calumet County and a farm waste container in Manitowoc County. In addition, video footage has been thoroughly analyzed, and horseback searches of rural farmland have been conducted. The investigation has even extended to Baur's hometown of Wisconsin Dells. Authorities continue to offer a reward for information leading to Elijah's discovery or the arrest of those responsible for his disappearance. The FBI is offering $15,000, Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers an additional $10,000, and the city of Two Rivers is providing another $15,000, making the total reward $40,000. The sheriff's office has promised further updates as the investigation continues. Meanwhile, the community holds its breath, hoping for answers in the disappearance of Elijah Vue. #ElijahVue #TwoRivers #ManitowocCounty #HumanRemains #ChildNeglect #MissingChildren #OngoingInvestigation Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE?
