Send us a textHezekiah's story started well, very well. He became king at age 25 and "did right in the sight of the Lord" (2 Kings 18.1-3). He removed false idols, trusted in the LORD, and clung to Him faithfully. When Hezekiah was afflicted with a terminal illness, the prophet Isaiah told him: "Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live" (2 Kings 20.1). Hezekiah prayed desperately, and God responded by giving him 15 more years of life. When envoys from Babylon came to visit him after his recovery, Hezekiah showed off all his treasures rather than testifying to God's faithfulness. Isaiah prophesied that all these treasures would one day be carried off to Babylon.Hezekiah gave no return for the benefit he received, because his heart was proud; therefore wrath came on him and Judah and Jerusalem. (2 Chronicles 32.25)What would we do with 15 years if God added them to our lives? Would we live them for ourselves or would we live those extra years for God? Hezekiah's son Manasseh was born during these extra 15 years, yet grew up to be one of Judah's most wicked kings. This suggests that Hezekiah failed to invest spiritually in his son during his extended years.Support the show"Finishing Well Ministries aims to encourage and inspire aging Christians to understand and embrace God's calling in their later years, equipping them to actively pursue and fulfill His calling. Despite his failures, including striking the rock at Meribah (Numbers 20), Moses pressed on to fulfill his purpose. One of his final tasks was completing Joshua's training and commissioning him to lead Israel into the promised land. Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, "Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance." Send us a textPeter & John: Faithful to the EndJesus called Peter and John away from their work as fishermen to follow Him and become "fishers of men" (Matthew 4.18-22). Though we don't know their exact ages when called, Christ's call on their lives was a lifelong commitment.Peter's JourneyFrom his brash early days to his denial of Christ, Peter was transformed by the resurrection and Pentecost into a bold leader of the early church. Even when he faltered years later in Antioch (Galatians 2.11-14), he accepted correction and continued serving faithfully. In his second letter, written shortly before his death, Peter exhorts believers: "Be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3.17-18)John;s LegacyJohn, once known as a "Son of Thunder," became known as the apostle of love. In his final 15-20 years (AD 80-98), he wrote five New Testament books:The Gospel According to John (AD 80) First, Second and Third John (AD 90-95) The Book of Revelation (AD 94-98)His most productive literary ministry came in his elderly years, showing how God can use us powerfully in every season of life.God's call on our lives, whenever we first said "Yes" to following Him, is to be faithful till the end. The idea of "Retirement" is not an option for us as Christians. In his 80s, he was still going strong, battling in prayer against spiritual forces (Daniel 10). The angel Michael gave him these final words: "But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age" (Daniel 12.13).Daniel was fearless, confident, dependent on God, and served faithfully under pagan rulers. Send us a textJehoiada & Jehoshabeath: Faithful to the EndThe story of Jehoiada ("Joe") and Jehoshabeath ("Beth") demonstrates how elderly believers can have tremendous impact even in their final decades.Age 83When evil Queen Athaliah destroyed the royal offspring to take the throne, "Joe" (about 83 years old) and "Beth" (around 80) rescued little Joash and hid him in the house of God.Age 90After protecting Joash for 7 years, "Joe" orchestrated his coronation as king at age 7, confronted the wicked queen Athaliah, and helped restore proper worship.Age 90-130For the next 40 years, "Joe" served as a mentor and spiritual guide to King Joash, helping him reign righteously.Age 130"Joe" died at the remarkable age of 130, having served God faithfully for 47 years from age 83-130.Tragically, after Jehoiada's death, Joash turned away from God and even had Jehoiada's son Zechariah executed when he prophesied against the king's unfaithfulness. Send us a textOur story regarding Eli begins not with Eli but with God's judge who will succeed him. God's successor to Eli will be the great prophet/judge Samuel so we begin with his birth and background.Samuel's BirthSamuel was born out of a godly family (1 Samuel 1.1-2.11). Hannah prayed for a son and promised to dedicate him to the Lord. Eli blessed her prayer, and when Samuel was weaned, Hannah brought him to serve in the temple under Eli.Eli's FailureBy contrast, Eli's sons were wicked men (1 Samuel 2.12-17). They abused their priestly position and "despised the offering of the Lord." Though Eli knew of their sins, he did not restrain them. Why do you kick at My sacrifice and at My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling, and honor your sons above Me? (1 Samuel 2.29).God revealed to Samuel the judgment that He would carry out on Eli because he did not rebuke his sons (1 Samuel 3.10-14). When the Philistines defeated Israel and captured the ark of God, both of Eli's sons were killed. Upon hearing the news, Eli fell backward from his seat, broke his neck, and died at age 98.The tragedy extended to the next generation 3 Eli's daughter-in-law died in childbirth, naming her son Ichabod, saying, "The glory has departed from Israel."Support the show"Finishing Well Ministries aims to encourage and inspire aging Christians to understand and embrace God's calling in their later years, equipping them to actively pursue and fulfill His calling. Send us a textWe meet Joshua first when he was selected as one of the 12 tribes to spy out the new land from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Nun (Numbers 13.8).Early FaithJoshua (along with Caleb) spoke with confidence about how God would take them into the promised land and defeat the enemies. He had great confidence in God who would be with them.If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and he will give it to us, a land that is flowing with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against Yahweh, and you will not fear the people of the land, because they will be our food. Their protection has been turned from them; Yahweh is with us. You should not fear them. (Numbers 14.8-9)Leadership in Later YearsAt 80 years of age, Joshua was entrusted with the task of leading Israel after Moses' death. God commanded him:Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. (Joshua 1.6-7)Throughout the conquest and throughout his life, Joshua remained full of faith and trust in the Lord. As he came to the end of his life, he challenged the children of Israel with these famous words:If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Send us a textAs I think about the life of Naomi and how she lived her later years, I cannot help but think of a principle that we learn in the Advent story 3 you cannot tell the end from the beginning. Apart from the Old Testament promises of the Messiah ad the angelic announcements of Messiah's birth, the majestic destiny of Jesus might never be guessed from His humble beginnings and surroundings. As we read the opening lines of Naomi's story one might never guess how the story will end. How anyone lives out the final years of life, like Naomi, is learned as we intentionally trust our lives to a sovereign God and live obediently following His hand.Naomi's story begins with incredible hardship. Now it came about in the days when the judges governed, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the land of Moab with his wife and his two sons. The name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife, Naomi; and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem in Judah. Now they entered the land of Moab and remained there. Then Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died; and she was left with her two sons. They took for themselves Moabite women as wives; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth. And they lived there about ten years. Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died, and the woman was bereft of her two children and her husband (Ruth 1.1-5).Support the show"Finishing Well Ministries aims to encourage and inspire aging Christians to understand and embrace God's calling in their later years, equipping them to actively pursue and fulfill His calling. Hal encourages continuous service to God, regardless of age, and stresses that retirement does not diminish one's mission. We had the pleasure of interviewing Tone Stith over Zoom video!Rising R&B singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Tone Stith shares his smooth new single and visualizer “Girls Like You” via RCA Records. This latest release is a follow-up from Tone's previous released fan favorite track “B.E.D” in 2022 and his seven-track project Still FWM, which came out in October of 2021. “B.E.D” and Still FWM displays his smooth vocals and honest lyrics while immersing you into the world of R&B with hints of pop and hip-hop. These releases are a continuation of that and cements Tone Stith's status as a quadruple-threat in the entertainment industry. Not only can he play various instruments such as drums, piano, and guitar, but as a songwriter, Tone has penned numerous chart-topping hits, including Chris Brown's “Liquor,” “Make Love” and “Undecided.” Although he has many accolades collaborating with others, Stith's solo music allows him to shine the brightest with his incomparable falsetto and raw talent. With his forthcoming EP, Tone Stith is ready to take his place as an R&B mainstay.About Tone Stith:Jersey-born R&B singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist (drums, guitar & piano) Tone Stith released his debut project Can We Talk in 2017, which garnered rave reviews from the likes of Complex, Billboard and more, and eventually led to Tone's signing with RCA Records. Stith's follow up EP in 2018, Good Company, included features from Swae Lee and Quavo and production from Stith, Bongo ByTheWay (Ty Dolla $ign, 50 Cent), The Audibles (Justin Bieber, Chris Brown), Marcos “Kosine” Palacios (Ella Mai, Christina Aguilera) and THE PRBLM SLVRS. As a songwriter, Tone has penned numerous chart-topping hits, writing and producing on Chris Brown's “Liquor” and “Make Love” and co-writing “Undecided.” He has also opened for H.E.R. in 2018 on her I Used To Know Her Tour. To close out 2020, Tone returned to the music scene with his slow-burn single “Devotion,” which was followed by “FWM” and “Like The First Time” in 2021, the latter co-written by Grammy and Oscar award winner Tiara Thomas. In 2021, along with a few live versions of his latest music, Tone released his project FWM and performed the title track at the 2021 BET Awards. Tone was also a part of iHeart's On The Verge artist campaign that same year. Towards the end of 2021, Tone dropped a “part two” to his previous EP, titling it Still FWM. The project had the singles “Something In The Water” featuring Maeta and “I Don't Wanna.” In 2022 Tone released the fan favorite record “B.E.D'' and went on his own sold out Set The Tone Tour, which hit 15 markets. Most recently, Tone has finished up his new project – coming soon this August – and just dropped the first single “Girls Like You.” With the anticipation building for his forthcoming EP, Tone Stith is ready to take his place as an R&B mainstay. We want to hear from you! The True Value of Honest PPC Work Featuring Craig Weatherly Craig started his journey in 2001 at New Horizons Computer Center, a local technical institute with a direct focus on web design and SEO. He brings his SEO and digital marketing experience which was spent in competitive markets such as automotive and tourism. Craig has a passion for helping business owners achieve their goals with ever-changing digital platforms. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: How an SEO expert chooses keywords How to use your organic content in your PPC campaigns The importance of targeting by geography and demographics Best practices for writing compelling PPC content In this episode… PPC has always been a topic of hot debate at FWM - but the consensus is, at the end of the day, it has its purpose. The trick is, utilizing it honestly and effectively. Flushed by marketing companies who will careless max out budgets to gauge legitimate businesses of their profits, many industries have grown tired of utilizing this kind of marketing, or accept the status quo. However experts like Craig Weatherly have learned it doesn't have to be this way. Part of affordable PPC is decades of experience, understanding it through and through, and an unwillingness to settle for high budgets with mediocre results. Resources Mentioned in this episode Tom Foster on LinkedIn Craig Weatherly of FWM This episode is brought to you by Foster Web Marketing. Foster Web Marketing is dedicated to providing cutting-edge, highly customizable marketing and strategic solutions specifically designed for law firms and medical practices. Our award-winning marketing and systems solutions are what sets us apart from everyone else.
Toby Crandall is the CTO at Foster Web Marketing, an award-winning agency that provides customized marketing solutions for law firms, medical practices, and service businesses. He has been part of the IT and marketing industries for over 20 years while developing his skills in multiple leadership positions. In this episode… As the web has become a more sophisticated place, there has been a rise in malicious cyber attacks. How can you ensure that your business and clients' data are protected? For a business to operate successfully, it needs to be insured against possible disasters. One such insurance comes in the form of cybersecurity software that helps businesses thrive in the hostile environment of the internet. The importance of establishing security protocols for your company lies in the assurance of client data protection and the significantly reduced risk of operational integrity breaches. This extra layer of protection is what allows entrepreneurs and companies to focus on what is most important for their business. In this episode of the World of Marketing Podcast, Tom Foster Jr. is joined by Toby Crandall, CTO at Foster Web Marketing. They discuss some of FWM's early challenges, why internet and data security are essential elements for business success, and understanding email reputation. Toby shares how to get the most out of security software services and the exciting possibilities in the tech and IT industries.
