The Saints after the longest period in NFL history for a team to not have a head coach now HAVE a head coach: Kellen Moore, who was on the cover of NCAA Football on Playstation 2. Polk and Kush survived the Super Bowl madness that destroyed the city we patched together with glue. Kush goes on a few all-time rants about the Saints, the Pelicans, Gayle Benson, the Super Bowl, and maybe even...you???

Well, the hammer finally fell, and it was swung by Gayle Benson, as she went over Mickey Loomis' head to finally fire Dennis Allen and fully vindicate Mickey's mistake in hiring him. The Saints then also went out and traded Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders, to finally signal some sort of plan moving forward. Gayle Benson has left an indelible mark on the world of sports, business, and philanthropy. From her early beginnings to becoming the owner of the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans, Gayle's journey is one of resilience, vision, and unwavering dedication. She had a thriving design business when she met Tom Benson, previous owner of the Saints and Pelicans. They were each other's third marriage. It wasn't met without some drama. We'll explore her rise through the business world, her impactful leadership following the death of her husband Tom Benson, and her role in steering her sports teams to new heights. Gayle Benson gave The Pope a custom New Orleans Saints jersey. Shouldn't the Saints be the most favored by The Pope, therefore God, out of all the NFL?? Chef Michael Johnson joins us for munchies. Taylor gives us the biggest NFL story of the day and we do big deal or no big deal.
There's more to life than money. That's true. In some circles it's become fashionable to talk about the goal of business as being about more than single-mindedly making money. Ok, that's true too. But it's worth noting that although money can't buy you happiness, poverty can't buy you anything. I stole that witty observation from a meme on Facebook, but it does point up a basic truth: whatever else you're trying to achieve, you can't start, run, or grow a business without money. When you hear terms like “Venture Capital,” and “Series A Funding” you may find your eyes glazing over and your attention wandering, but these are just various ways of saying “money.” And if you have a local business here in New Orleans it can be hard to get your hands on enough of it to compete with businesses in capital-rich environments, like Silicon Valley. My guests on Out to Lunch today are both in the business of funding local businesses. Caroline Crumley is an investor at Benson Capital Partners, a venture capital firm founded by Gayle Benson, best known as the owner of the Saints football team and the Pelicans basketball team. Van Hamilton Barbeau is Vice President of Evangeline Securities, a firm that facilitates mergers and acquisitions and capital raising services through their offices in New Orleans, Lafayette, and Boston, Massachusetts. A lot of us have a love/hate relationship with money. We love having it, but we don't love the effort, time, and risks we often have to take to get a hold of it. Two wealthy and successful entrepreneurs in the 20th century, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, famously said, “Money can't buy me love.” But like love, if money was easy to get and to keep, it wouldn't be as highly prized. Where you find love is a topic for a different podcast, but if you have a business in Louisiana there are places where you can find money. Not least among them, Benson Capital Partners and Evangeline Securities. As investors and experts, Caroline and Van are providing literally invaluable tools and products for the development and growth of local businesses. Out to Lunch is recorded live over lunch at NOLA Pizza in the NOLA Brewing Taproom. The New Orleans Saints have come up remarkably short of expectations so far in 2022 with Dennis Allen at the helm. If the Saints decide to move on, could they turn back to their old beau in Sean Payton? It would take some convincing by Gayle Benson and Mickey Loomis, but it doesn't look like the door is entirely closed on a potential reunion this offseason. Though the price may be pretty hefty. The good news about a Payton return, no matter how unlikely it is to happen, is that it would reinforce the winning culture in New Orleans and potentially help to land a premier quarterback option this offseason. But there's a downside too. Draft capital, an empty pursuit and any animosity harbored with the initial departure should all be factored in. It may be better to simply head in a new direction entirely with the draft fodder that could be retrieved in a Payton trade, should a partner present itself this offseason.Find and follow Locked On Saints on your favorite podcast platforms:

NFL Features Producer India Wright joins Erin Summers and John DeShazier on the New Orleans Saints Podcast to talk about the production of NFL 360's feature on Saints and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson.
The common thread of nearly every point in Gayle Benson's career has been identifying a need and executing her impeccable vision to improve it. In her current role as a multi-business owner, including the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans, Mrs. Benson finds herself in a position with unlimited opportunities to impact her community. She spoke with Inside Source about making big decisions, “wins” and “losses,” and why you should never compromise on what's important to you.
The New Orleans Saints have decided to roll with Pete Carmichael at offensive coordinator. Giving him the reigns on the offense as a playcaller, developer, and installer. If Mickey Loomise, Gayle Benson, and the Saints really wanted to maintain continuity and cohesion - this was the way to do it. It also opens the door even wider for a return for QB Jameis Winston. In order to maximize the success Pete Carmichael and Dennis Allen can have on the offensive side, the Saints will have to dedicate resources to bolstering the offense. Building Carmichael's offense won't be too challenging, but needs to be taken serious. Drafting receivers like Jameson Williams, Chris Olave, or Christian Watson are a good start. But pursuing more talent at tight end like O.J. Howard would be a massive upgrade. Attention will also have to be given to depth on the offensive line and at running back with Alvin Kamara's early season availability in question.A look at Pete Carmichael's past success when calling plays for a talented roster. In 2011, 2012, and 2016 he had very public opportunities to call plays and put together some highly effective offenses, including a record holding one in terms of yardage output. But to replicate that success, the Saints will need to build their offense at WR and make the right choice at QB.Follow & Subscribe to the Locked On Saints Podcast on these platforms…

Patrick Madden hosted this Monday's episode of Louisiana Considered. In an excerpt from this weekend's All Things Considered, NPR Legal Affairs Correspondent Nina Totenbergand host Michel Martindiscuss what's at stake this Supreme Court session, especially regarding women's reproductive rights. In a discussion from Louisiana Considered aired September 21, WWNO/WRKF Public Health Reporter Rosemary Westwoodand host Diane Mackdiscuss a specific case the Supreme Court will hear that could overturn or negate the abortion rights ruling of Roe v. Wade in Louisiana. The court will decide if Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a 2018 Mississippi case which effectively bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy with no exceptions in cases of rape or incest, is constitutional. Under current Supreme Court precedent, the right to have an abortion is generally considered to be guaranteed until about 24 weeks of pregancy. If the Supreme Court upholds the lower court's ruling, then a similar 15-week abortion ban will take effect in Louisiana. The Times-Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate columnist Jeff Duncandiscusses his recent series on the future of the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans. A remarkably gracious plan that will help to bolster the New Orleans community and that hopes to keep the Saints and Pelicans in the city long-term even if purchased by someone outside of the region. On the offensive side, the New Orlean Saints should be leaning on star running back Alvin Kamara. New York Giants linebacker Blake Martinez is out for the season and his young replacement is dealing with a hamstring injury. New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson announced succession plans for the teams. She wants the teams to stay in Nola. She is also donating much of her estate to charity in the area. She is a great lady! With that being said the pelicans need to move. New Orleans isn't a basketball town. It's all about football. The city doesn't support the Pels. Move the team to Seattle, or another market that would support it!
John Lopez, Brandon Scott in for Landry Locker, alongside Figgy Fig gave their thoughts on the Thursday Night Football matchup with the Jags/Bengals, Trevor Lawrence vs Joe Burrow. A major theme throughout the episode is the power of relationships. The Saints welcomed Joseph and his family, and when Joseph's wife died of cancer in 2019, several players attended her funeral and others sent well-wishes, including Mrs. Gayle Benson. But Joseph's story doesn't end in tragedy. He and host Rachel Jones discuss how he's coaching others to understand their purpose in life even if they're experiencing crushing pain. Who will win the Nets-Bucks series, and will that winner go on to win the Eastern Conference (38:29)? Which player props over the next few days should people keep an eye out for (39:32)? Finally, we close things out with Morten’s “Game Winner” – a weekly segment where Morten monologues his biggest takeaway of the week. This week, Morten talks about Gayle Benson, and how her hands-on approach as an owner sets her apart across the sports landscape (41:46).

The Rays unlikely star of the game was Brandon Lowe, who was 4-for-52 entering the game from the plate. Now that the series is tied 1-1, what is each team talking about in the clubhouse (0:06)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about what's going on at LSU right now. On Wednesday the school announced self-imposed penalties after an NCAA investigation into improper benefits. The question posed to me was - do self-imposed penalties work? Hmm (15:34). Review - The Gentlemen (27:30). Ryan Fitzpatrick has been benched by the Miami Dolphins so that Tua Tagovailoa can play. The Dolphins are 3-3 on the season and enter a bye week. Let's read into Fitzpatrick's quotes about his feelings toward getting benched (30:20). Stan Van Gundy will be the new head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans. This is big news for Zion Williamson. But, here's the real story in my eyes. How could Van Gundy work for someone like Gayle Benson (34:25)? WNBA Seattle Storm owners have gone public in endorsing Biden/Harris. A very rare move in sports. Was going public here the right bid decision (42:35)? #waittosee --------------------------- 'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts.
