Stāsta rotu māksliniece un pētniece, Latvijas Mākslas akadēmijas lektore Ginta Grūbe. 20. gadsimta otrajā pusē zelta cena četru gadu laikā vairāk nekā četrkāršojās. Šis cenu kāpums kalpoja par stimulu rotu māksliniekiem strādāt ar tēraudu, alumīniju un plastmasu zelta vietā. Zelta cenas aptuvenais kāpums varēja būt no 19 uz 88 eiro par gramu zelta nepilnā piecgadē. Pieprasījums pēc zelta kā investīciju objekta pieaug grūtos laikos, jo akciju tirgi kļūst mazāk pievilcīgi. Tādējādi zelts tiek uzskatīts par labu ieguldījumu krīzes apstākļos. Ievērojamais kāpums 1980. gadā notika pēc padomju militāristu iesaistīšanās Afganistānā, pēc desmit gadus ilgas inflācijas, naftas [tirgus] satricinājumiem un amerikāņu militārajām neveiksmēm, kas arī izskaidro zelta cenas kāpumu. Cena kļuva arī par vienu no iemesliem rotās neizvēlēties zeltu, aizbildinoties ar tā iziešanu no modes un vēlmi radīt rotas, kas pieejamas visiem – neatkarīgi no sociālā stāvokļa. 20. gs 70. gados Nīderlandē darbojās vairāki rotu mākslinieki, kas savu radošo darbību nostatīja līdzās vizuālajai mākslai – nevis amatniecībai, kā tas tika darīts līdz šim. Pārmaiņu laiks bija pateicīgs brīdis materiāla izvēles maiņai, jo tas palīdzēja izcelt atšķirīgo pieeju rotu mākslā. Dizaineru pāris Gijs Bakers (Gijs Bakker) un Emmija Van Lērsuma (Emmy van Leersum) bija vieni no aktīvākajiem eksperimentētājiem. Viņi organizēja izstādi ar nosaukumu “Objekti, ko valkāt”. Nosaukums mums atklāj, ka autori tiecās mainīt fokusu no rotas kā dekoratīva rotājuma vai statusa simbola uz rotu kā autonomu objektu, kas iemieso autora radošo ideju. Gan Emmija un Gijs, gan citi viņu laikabiedri tiecās mainīt rotaslietu paradigmu, mainot arī vidi, kur rotas tiek demonstrētas. Rotas no veikaliem un darbnīcām tika pārnestas uz galerijām un muzejiem, līdzīgi kā tas jau bija noticis ar keramiku, stikla un tekstila darbiem. Gija Bakera darbi, bieži humoristiski un ironiski, reti dekoratīvi, bet uzdod būtiskus jautājumus: Kāpēc cilvēki valkā rotaslietas? Ko rotaslietas dara ar cilvēkiem? Kāda ir juveliera loma šajā procesā? (Liesbeth den Besten, “Metalsmith Magazine Vol. 7. No. 1”, 1987. gads.) Industriālo materiālu un tehnikas pārnese rotās izpaudās, piemēram, Gija izstrādātajā nerūsējošā tērauda aprocē, fiksējot to, izmantojot punktmetināšanu. Viņš eksperimentēja, arī laminējot fotogrāfijas ar dārgām karaliskās ģimenes kaklarotām. Bakers ironizēja par zelta cenu, veidojot darbu ar nosaukumu “Neredzamās rotas”, kas sastāvēja no zelta stieples, ko bija paredzēts stingri uztīt uz rokas un pēc laika noņemt, – nospiedums uz rokas bija viņa izpratne par rotu. Lai iegūtu apjomīgajām, apkaklei līdzīgajām rotām košas krāsas, viņš izmantoja alumīnija anodēšanu, kas industriālajā ražošanā un arhitektūrā tika izmantota jau kopš starpkaru perioda, tomēr rotaslietās tas bija jaunums. Mēbiusa lente arī kļuva par iedvesmu formas pētniecībai un pārnesei alumīnijā un tēraudā, līdzīgi kā bezgalīgās virsmas ideju savos darbos ilustrēja grafiķis Ešers. Mēbiusa lentes motīvs bija pateicīgs aproces formai. Rotu mākslinieks un grafiķis Roberts Smits, kurš arī darbojās Nīderlandē 20. gs. otrajā pusē, uz laiku pilnībā pārtrauca rotu mākslinieka karjeru un atgriezās pie tās pēc vairāku gadu pauzes. Viņš kritizēja tolaik radikālo holandiešu laikmetīgo rotu attīstības virzienu, kurā zelts bija teju nepieņemams materiāls. Gijs Bakers pārmeta Smitam, ka viņš cenšas saglabāt novecojušo rotas kā statusa simbola pozīciju, turpinot izmantot rotās zeltu, kaut arī ļoti plānās, folijai līdzīgās kārtās. 20. gs. otrās puses holandiešu radikālā pieeja rotu mākslai neapstiprināja viņu sākotnēji uzstādīto hipotēzi, ka, ja rotas tiks izgatavotas no lētākiem pieejamajiem materiāliem un izgatavošanā tiks izmantotas industriālajā ražošanā aizgūtas metodes, tad šādu laikmetīgu rotu popularitāte un pieprasījums strauji augs. Mākslinieku eksperimenti palika galeriju un muzeju sienās. To ražošanas apjomi nepietuvojās sākotnēji cerētajam. Toties šajā laikā tapušās rotas iezīmē jaunas ēras sākumu rotu mākslā, kur atļauti visi materiāli un mākslinieka idejas lidojums netiek ierobežots.

Warnarral Ngoorrngoorrool is the result of a six-year intercultural collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, performers and musicians who have transformed an old car wreck into a significant cultural object shaped by sound and stories of cars, transport and Country from Gija and Miriwoong communities. Over 3 weeks (August 24 – September 16), Warnarral Ngoorrngoorrool will make its way from Kununurra to Perth through the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid-West and finally onto Boola Bardip, the Western Australian Museum's Perth site.

Esta expresión se utiliza para indicar que quien la dice está haciendo varias cosas en forma simultánea. En el episodio que extrajimos de la serie “El caballero y la doncella” Gija, la madre de Sara, le dice a esta última que le compró un juguete a Sejong (el benjamín de la familia Lee) y ya que estaba de paso, aprovechó para entregárselo en persona y husmear alrededor de la habitación del pequeño. De esta manera explica su intención de querer hacer dos o más cosas al mismo tiempo.Podemos usar el adverbio ‘겸사겸사’ para terminar una oración pero también lo podemos colocar en el medio, agregándole más contenido como en el siguiente ejemplo:“병원에 온 김에 겸사겸사 다른 검사도 해 보려고 해요” (Voy a hacerme otras pruebas ya que he venido al hospital) Además, se puede emplear este adverbio junto al verbo 하다 (hacer), de la siguiente manera: 겸사겸사하다. En este caso, generalmente decimos ‘겸사겸사해서’ y con esto expresamos que hacemos varias cosas a la vez aprovechando la ocasión. Por ejemplo, podemos enunciar de la siguiente forma: “네가 궁금하기도 하고 얼굴 본 지도 오래됐고 겸사겸사해서 왔어.”(Me preguntaba cómo estarías y como ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que nos vimos, vine aprovechando la ocasión)

Espero que no sea nada grave. Vé rápido. 대란: 어 그래. Daeran: Sí, gracias.Expresión de la semana오늘만 날이냐? Pronunciación: oneulman narinya?Traducción: ¡Hoy no es el único día!Explicación gramaticalEsta frase empieza con el sustantivo ‘오늘’, que corresponde a ‘hoy’ y a este le sigue ‘만’, una partícula auxiliar que indica que algo está limitado o restringido y sería el equivalente a ‘solo’ o ‘único’. Luego tenemos otro sustantivo, ‘날 (día, jornada),’ y que va acompañado de la terminación ‘-이냐’, la cual se usa cuando hacemos una pregunta en lenguaje informal de tuteo. Esta expresión se utiliza para indicar que hoy no es el único día para hacer algo ya que habrá más oportunidades en el futuro. Justamente en la escena que protagonizan Daeran y Gija, ambas tenían previsto pasar el tiempo juntas pero a la primera le surge un imprevisto y deber irse. Entonces, Gija le dice que está bien, que no pasa nada, ya que luego tendrán más oportunidades para reunirse. Recuerden que la terminación -이냐 se usa principalmente en el lenguaje hablado y en el registro informal de tuteo, o sea entre personas de la misma edad o más jóvenes, pero nunca ante personas mayores, desconocidas o con las que mantengamos un trato deferencial. Por cierto, en lugar de ‘오늘만 날이냐? podemos optar por decir ‘오늘만 날이니?’, que aunque tiene exactamente el mismo significado, posee un matíz mucho más amable y agradable.

Ep. 39 Jahna Cedar OAMJahna Cedar is a Nyiyaparli/Yindjibarndi woman from the Pilbara region of Western Australia, with family connection to the Gija people of the Kimberleys, and is recognised as a strong Indigenous community leader. She has worked for over 20 years advocating for equal rights and reconciliation of Indigenous people and has represented Indigenous Australia at the United Nations in New York, on three occasions. In 2012, Jahna was the youngest person to be elected into the West Australian International Women's Day Hall of Fame and in 2017 proudly won Business news 40 under 40, First amongst equals. Jahna was also awarded Telstra Business Women Awards WA – For Purpose and Social Enterprise Winner in 2017.She has such a strong sense of purpose and real suggestions and advice on how we can make our relationship with indigenous people so much better which is the to the benefit of ALL Australians. Gloria is a Gija woman living the dream. She is one of twelve and has hundreds of grandchildren throughout the Kimberley. Her son was the first aboriginal weightlifter to compete at an olympics (Sydney 2000), she has four grandsons currently playing in the AFL and heaps more cool stuff is happening in that space. We yarn about all of this as well as what it was like to welcome Nick Cummins into her mega family, her important role within her workplace, her love of the bush, the food, the lifestyle and her favourite things to do. Desmond is in conversation with Gija Melnupe who is an aspiring garden designer and also works in the property training arena. They talk about how learning can be there but you have to be receptive to it for it to make a difference and why everyone should get a chance to make their own impression, one that is free from preconceived views that are usually incorrect. Working in the training environment can be very motivating but only if you are open to it. Having the opportunity to hear good content and ideas repeatedly is what helps. You don’t always absorb the information fully when you first hear it. If you have heard it repeatedly you gain a good understanding that can be effectively actioned. If you are motivated you can use what you learn as inspiration to move you and your life forward. Rusty Peters, like many East Kimberley painters, spent his youth working as a stockman on cattle stations throughout the Kimberley, and earned a reputation as an accomplished horse breaker. Along with other Gija community elders, Peters was influential in establishing the Ngalangangpum bicultural school – the first school at the main Gija community Warmun (Turkey Creek) – ensuring that instruction in Gija law and culture was prominent in the curriculum. In 1989, Peters moved to Kununurra, where he worked as an assistant at Waringarri Aboriginal Arts, a community owned Aboriginal art cooperative. He often worked closely with Rover Thomas, the East Kimberley's most renowned painter and a co-founder of the regional contemporary painting movement. Although Peters occasionally produced small canvases during this period, he did not begin painting in earnest until 1998, after he had left Waringarri to join the newly founded Jirrawun Aboriginal Arts. Since then he has had a series of successful group and solo exhibitions, including the 2000-02 travelling exhibition 'Two Laws ... One Big Spirit', in which he collaborated with artist Peter Adsett. In his most ambitious canvas to date, the immense, twelve-metre long 'Waterbrain', 2002, Peters departs from the specific themes of country and Ngarrangkarni that normally form the focus of East Kimberley painting. Instead, he chooses to explore the cycle of life and learning that is universal to all peoples. Read from left to right, the canvas presents a chronology of the process of birth, growth and learning from conception to adulthood. At the lower left are waterweeds among which, according to Gija belief, the spirits of unborn children reside before entering the mothers womb to become the spirits of human beings. The next panels deal with birth and infancy, when a child moves from crawling, to walking, to running, although his or her brain has yet to begin to absorb the teachings of his or her culture. The large circular motif at the centre shows the adult brain – the child has grown up and is beginning to have his or her own ideas. The next panels deal with the education that transforms a child into a full member of adult society. As a symbol of the culmination of the individual's education. in the final panels Peters depicts the artefacts his elders taught him to make and which, before the coming of European settlers, all Gija men needed to know how to create in order to survive.
